Itinerary
Meiji Jingu Shrine is one of Tokyo's most iconic and significant Shinto shrines, located in Harajuku. We'll walk together to the main building of Meiji Jingu Shrine while learning about the culture and history. We'll also learn about some Japanese traditional rituals.
Following the Meiji Jingu Shrine we will head to Harajuku, taking the famous & colorful Takeshita Street. Takeshita Street is a bustling and iconic shopping street located in the Harajuku district of Tokyo and tons of shopping & food opportunities. (Find rainbow cotton candy or poo ice cream)
Continuing to Harajuku's Street-Style Wonderland: Dive into the vibrant and eclectic fashion scene of Harajuku, where every street is a runway. Immerse yourself in the kaleidoscope of colors, styles, and youthful energy that defines Tokyo's trendsetting district. We'll head to the Tokyu Plaza to get some amazing pictures! Next will be Shibuya passing by the trendy and fashionable Cat Street.
Shibuya Crossing Spectacle: Experience the pulsating heart of Tokyo at the famous Shibuya Crossing. Join the rhythm of the crowd as you navigate the world's busiest intersection and witness the city's vibrant urban energy. Before we face the busy and biggest crossing in the world we make a brief stop in the new Miyashita Park. We may grab a coffee or enjoy the atmosphere of the rooftop!
(Part of the 5 & 7 Hours Tour) Asakusa is where Tokyo’s past comes to life. With its iconic Senso-ji Temple, rickshaws, traditional snack stalls, and Edo-period atmosphere, this district offers a vivid glimpse into the city’s historical soul. But don’t be fooled, beyond the old-world charm lies a lively, modern neighborhood with great street food, river views, and fun local experiences.
(Part of the 7 Hours Tour) Located in northeastern Tokyo, Ueno Park is one of the city’s most beloved green spaces, known for its rich cultural offerings and seasonal beauty. Originally part of Kaneiji Temple, the park became public land in 1873 and now features wide paths, museums, and over 1,000 cherry trees! Surrounding Ueno Station, you'll find lively shopping streets like Ameya-Yokocho, offering local snacks, souvenirs, and fashion. The neighborhood blends history and everyday life, making it perfect for a relaxed day of exploring.
(Part of the 7 Hours Tour) What started as a post-war black market for radio parts has grown into one of the most vibrant and unique neighborhoods in Tokyo. Akihabara is a playground for tech lovers and pop culture fans, where you’ll find everything from the latest electronics to underground anime merchandise.

This tour was just the right amount of ancient history and current culture to help you get your bearings. Beginning with a visit to a Shinto shrine, along Cat street and into the bustling neighborhood of Shibuya and its famous crossing. Let Jero show you the way.
My husband and I came to Tokyo for the first time. So we decided to go on a private guided tour for the start of our trip. We chose this tour to get a decent overview of Tokyo and its habits. We have been not prepared to make a new friends instantly. So we decided to book another tour as well. Really wonderful guide. Highly recommended.
We just had the coolest intro to Tokyo. Jero was a fabulous guide. Highly recommend to book the tour on your trip to Tokyo
Wonderfully comprehensive tour with tons of valuable info. Jero is one of the best tour guides i've ever had (and i've had many!) We were able to see so much during our time with him. He took pictures and videos along the way and then air dropped them to my phone. We have already scheduled a second tour and are looking forward to it!
It was a great tour to get to know the most famous place in Tokyo!! We would definitely got lost if we were by ourselves. Thank you Jero, the tour was amazing!
During an eight-hour, full-day German-language tour, Jero introduced us to the many fascinating facets of Tokyo in an impressive and engaging way. His profound knowledge of the city’s history, culture, and architecture was complemented by numerous insightful background details and authentic glimpses into everyday life. What stood out most was Jero’s passion and dedication in the way he conducts his tours. His personal enthusiasm is truly infectious, creating a lively and memorable experience for everyone involved. When we asked to extend the tour, he kindly agreed and continued guiding us for another four hours — an exceptional gesture that made our day even more special. We can wholeheartedly recommend Jero. He has a remarkable ability to present the city not only informatively, but also with genuine authenticity and cultural depth.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was the second day we booked with Jero and we loved every moment. He actually customized the tour to our interests so we could enjoy the fullest. This time we went to Ueno and Asakusa what was amazing and so different to the other part of the city we have seen a day before. We are very grateful we booked the time with Jero and wish you all the best. Let’s meet again soon
This is the second tour we book with Jero, because we really enjoyed the first one! It was completely different part of Tokyo. Mixed modern young city really close to a calm temple in the nature! Strongly recommend this tour!!
My husband and I first met Jero on the afternoon we arrived in Tokyo. After the first few minutes speaking with him, I knew we were in for a real treat. To begin with, it is easy to see how much he loves Japan and the Japanese culture. Also, his English is excellent, no having to guess what your guide is really saying. He wants his clients to learn about the Japanese culture, so he took us to see the grand sights, as well as side streets with small shops and restaurant/ bars. If you are a bit older, like me, and worry about a long walking tour, fear not as in addition to walking, you will take subway rides and there is always a place to rest. Highlights of the day for me: Shibuya Cat Street and seeing the replica of the Statue of Liberty in Japan!! Who knew?
Jero has been an excellent guide and life saver for us. I left behind a specific electrical outlet for my cpap machine which is very important for my health. After we toured with him we went on our own to Kyoto and came back a few days later to join a cruise. All this time Jero was helping me obtain this specific outlet from Tokyo distributors of the machine and this was not an easy task . At one time he cycled about 25 miles to get in touch with a distributor who finally helped me find a retailer. When you travel abroad you need a guide who not only savors the country and has obtained great knowledge of the places you need to see but can also assist you in a crisis. That is Jero. A very caring man with a great passion for the country and great communication skills. Raul
This tour was amazing, simply the best way to start your trip in Japan. Jero was an incredible tour guide, he was not only super friendly but also gave us fantastic detailed information about the different places we visited. I've had multiple tour guides when I've visited other countries, Jero is one of the best. I would recommend shiny tours to anyone visiting Japan. -Sammy F.
Jero was fantastic! He provided unique insights into the background of sites, customs and at a nice pace. He also took great pics for us at Meji Shrine, unique buildings and Shibuya Crossing. Having a tour with Jero of Shibuya on your first day in Tokyo is the right way to start off your visit!
Incredible tour with an amazing tour guide. We could have kept on tour with Jero for another few hours he was that good. I've been on Viator tours all over the world and Jero is one of the best if not the best guide I've had. Not to be missed. If you're looking for a personalized and flexible tour in Tokyo look now more. A five star experience!!
A fun and amazing way to begin our visit to Tokyo. Jero provided the perfect introduction to our first visit. He was so informative, friendly and knowledgeable. He really paced our time according to our interests. I would highly recommend his tour and look forward to another adventure curated by him.
Booking this tour was the best decision of our trip to Japan. We couldn't have had a better start. Jero picked us up at the hotel and his open, warm and sympathetic nature immediately took us for him. With an enthusiastic “There’s so much to do here!” he led us confidently and thrillingly into the middle of this overwhelming city. It's incredible what you can see and experience in four hours. Thanks to Jero, we sent wishes on our way to the Meiji Shrine, enjoyed cotton candy and ramen, swung katana, chatted about life in Tokyo over coffee on rooftop terraces, admired cozy neighborhoods and modern high-rises, wandered through yokochas (lanes full of izakayas), browsed department stores, got wonderful photo memories (Jero takes great photos), to name a few. Besides, we would never have discovered many insider tips, such as viewpoints of the Shibuya crossing, without him. Jero is by far the greatest guide we have ever experienced. Immerse yourself in the many facets of Tokyo at his side is a gift. It is not only his almost inexhaustible knowledge of the culture, history, places and people and his passionate enthusiasm for his city and Japanese culture, but above all his authentic, warm and so incredibly attentive way of giving his guests the feeling of having a good friend by his side. Being on the road with Jero means being inspired, excited, enriched, surprised and cared for. We had a wonderful time with him. If you’re short of time or looking for a wonderful start to your Tokyo trip, book this tour with Jero. There's nothing better. We will definitely come back.
Too little time to explore huge Tokyo on your own? Then you are in the right place! We got a great insight into Japanese culture, Shibuja's shopping hotspots and sights - accompanied by exactly the information you want as a tourist. As a bonus, you will be guided to one or the other vantage point, which hardly any tourist will find and which offers the greatest views of the heart of Tokyo.
We had an all around great tour with Jero! He explained great and gave us valuable tips. Not everywhere in the world can you find such great guides! Highly recommended!
We were very lucky to discover Tokyo with a guide who has lived here for a long time and is well connected. In this way, he wonderfully combines insider knowledge with a deep understanding of culture and everyday life. His tour was perfectly put together: a mix of well-known highlights and many little insider tips that we probably would never have found without him. Especially great were the small Insider stories he told in between – so places and scenes took on even more meaning. For us it was very valuable that he got to know the city himself “from the outside”. He knows exactly what things are particularly exciting and fascinating for us as Europeans – something that someone who grew up in Tokyo may no longer perceive as extraordinary. In addition, he was very attentive to our wishes. Whether it was breaks, topics or focal points – we felt completely comfortable. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that made Tokyo even more lively and accessible for us. Unrestrictedly recommended! Only mistake, we should not have booked only the 3h tour, but the longer ones!
It was a really great tour!!! Jero showed us great corners that we would never have found on our own. Highly recommended, thank you Jero
We were traveling with Jeto in Shibuya. The planned three hours turned into four very interesting, exciting and educational hours. In addition to the sights, we learned a lot about Japan, customs and customs. It was great and we can recommend this tour to anyone.
The tour is highly recommended. Jero is a brilliant guide who also talks a lot about the country, the people and life. Very entertaining and informative. You get a great impression of the country, culture and customs. The individual support in the small group is worth every cent. Jero is very responsive to the wishes and questions and does not take it sooo seriously with the given time. There are also ad-ons such as Japanese drinks and snacks. Thank you so much!
