A lovely and relaxing experience! The steps were easy to follow and the instructors were incredibly helpful, patient and informative throughout the class. It felt like taking a little breath away from the hectic pace of Tokyo while getting a wonderful introduction to the art of origami. A really enjoyable experience and a great way to spend an afternoon!
Very engaging, helpful and fun. We had multiple staff onsite the day we went and my two kids age 9 and 11 really enjoyed leaning from them. Excellent English speakers and just a cool time.
A great experience for an introduction to origami for families couples or an individual. We thoroughly enjoyed our workshop with David who was very patient and enthusiastic.
Great fun and David who guided us was very helpful and made the workshop a great experience. Definitely worth a try.
David was a patient teacher. mom and I had a great time choosing our origami to make. made 3 pieces each. small pad showing you steps that you can replay. my mom made a dress and asked if a belt could be added, David came to the fashion rescue and helped make obe. turned out great. studio is beautiful. had a great time!!!
A perfect opportunity to learn the basics of origami. The atmosphere was peaceful and the staff were amazing. A definite for families.
It was far from the temple area which I didn’t realize but David was a wonderful teacher and made the time fun
What a fun experience! We have been trying to do Japanese cultural activities during our visit and this one fit to bill! We were first taught proper folding techniques to provide the best possible results. Next, we had the resources of a tablet or a book for origami patterns and had great assistance along the way by the two instructors. We were able to produce many small and easy projects in the allotted time and gained confidence in our ability to progress as we practice more in future. I definitely recommend this experience and it is great fun for all ages!
My daughter specifically requested an origami class so I went with her! It's our first time in Japan and I was so glad I could provide her an authentic Japanese experience that could become a hobby for her! There were only 2 of us in the class, and the teachers were very attentive! My daughter loved it! My only regret was that I didn't carry cash with me, so I couldn't offer a tip (sorry!), so a tip to future classes, please bring money for tip! They also sell lots of origami merchandise, and the workers are very pleasant and nice! They also offered to take our photos!
Spent a very pleasant hour learning the basics of origami, Japanese paper folding. Very relaxing with very good instructions and help from David.
This was a really fun activity. Taro’s Origami studio is small and quaint, with many origami artworks displayed. The instructors were very kind and friendly. Making the origami characters was a calming activity and then coloring and decorating them was a great reminder of being a child. No worries, just fun activities. The studio sold a collection of origami jewelry. I bought two sets of earrings. Yay.
Great experience that we all loved (kids 10 and 7). It was easy to get to and, I (Dad) who has no art ability, had a blast!
A beautiful activity with the family. Myself my husband and my 2 kids, aged 6 & 7 did some origami today. It was the perfect Japanese activity away from the hustle and bustle. My kids both boys, when I asked what was their favourite thing today they said origami. Highly reccomend. The teachers were kind and caring. Very comfortable and lovely place. We got to keep our origami. Highly recommend.
Took my 8 and 10 year old to this shop and had a great experience with the guided folding. We spent 45 min and were able to choose our own designs to fold during that time with help from the teacher if needed. It was the perfect indoor activity on a hot day and all of us enjoyed it. We also purchased a book and some paper to take back to the hotel to practice! Perfectly fun!
Beautiful space and super fun activity. Our kids loved practicing their trade with the help of tablets that guide every step and we all were awed at the possibilities of creating such beautiful things with paper.
Was fun learning with video instructions and a person to ask questions of. Nice time. Was in a little shop with inspiring origami to look at.
Great origami experience! David was very nice, helpful, and excellent on English/Japanese. We enjoyed our time at Taro and would love to come back next time we are in Tokyo.
A very cosy place, David was very friendly and helpful! Just a great experience! Thanks so much!!! I even got some material for working at home again with origami 😍
Lovely chilled experience to do in amongst the chaos of such a big city. We were a family of 2 adults, 9 and 4 year old girls. The girls loved trying out all the different origami and the wall of paper was great for them to select from. All the little extras in the middle such as pens and googly eyes were welcomed too. My suggestion to make it even better would be to have a little explanation of some of the main folds used to help everyone get started. There was mention of books to look through too, would be great to see these. Overall, we had a brilliant time and I would recommend if you're after 45 mins of quiet, relaxing Japanese culture.
We had a great time and it was a very relaxed experience learning origami at our own pace due to the smart IT guides. David was very kind and as a he grew up in the US he was very easy to communicate with as we do not speak Japanese. An overall great experience suited for all interested in learning the basics of origami.
Had so much fun! Very interesting place to visit. Nice location - a walking distance from Sensoji temple, plus great view with Tokyo Skytree and Sumida river. If you’d like a fun experience in a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to visit. After the activity, I dropped by Matsuchiyama shoden, another old temple nearby, which is also a great place to take a look.
We enjoyed folding origami at Taro‘s Orgami Studio. Unfortunately, there was only a how-to on a tablet without any further interaction with the person from the studio. We wished to get a more interactive class and would have been willing to pay more for a proper folding experience. Nevertheless, thank you for this first impression of folding origami :)
Verry nice experience for a family. I learn in 45min how to create 5 animals using a origami art and its very nice for children
This was a fun activity with a friendly host . It would be perfect for families as the instructions were great for all abilities
Great for a short introduction to origami with lots of different colors and types of origami paper. Very fun for kids and adults. The videos are easy to follow and there are varying difficulty levels so you can challenge yourself if you like.
An enjoyable activity for the family to learn traditional Japanese art in a peaceful environment. Fold at your own pace, take home your creations and view extraordinary pieces of origami art.
The studio is not too far from the Sensoji temple so u can visit temple first and come here for some activity. The Origami was fun and easy to follow (they have tablet to guide you how to do the Origami) or you can ask the expert there as well. The workshop is 45 mins and u can do Origami as much as you can within the time limit (i finished 6 Origami) and you can bring your Origami back home too.
Really good value for money! Lots of materials to help you learn and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable! Everyone is always on hand to help! Great activity in Tokyo!
Our family always looks for hands on activities when we travel and this was the perfect things. Instructions were easy to understand and our kids (ages 10,9&6) loved it! Highly recommend.
This is a great family or date activity in Tokyo. Very helpful and kind staff. Wish we had time for another visit.
Wonderful studio! Lovely staff, and a range of origami folding options from absolute beginners to super experienced. Fold as much as you like during your time slot by choosing the design from the books and touch screens, and selecting whatever coloured paper you like to do it with. Great for a short or a long session!
Took my son who is a fan of origami. We had a relaxing time and got one on one time with the studio staff. We could pick whatever paper and project we wanted to try and enjoyed our time there. Nice break from all the sight seeing!
It was a great activity for my 8 year old. He loves Origami, so he got to do a crane, rose and a Swan. It a great friendly environment to be. Would highly recommend this activity.
One of the best experiences we have booked in Tokyo. Friendly staff, peaceful place and the tools and support provided give us the opportunity to learn easily, have fun and create.
Good introductory session. David was personable and helpful. The displayed works are amazing! Good value
We really enjoyed this origami store near the SkyTree. We spent a relaxing and fun afternoon learning to make origami. The manager David was very helpful and knowledgeable. He gave us a great overview of the history of origami too. Definitely recommend for families, teens, and anyone visiting Japan and wanting a fun cultural experience.
We were led to Taro’s Origami after a day of struggling through the crushing crowds of the shrines and Ginza. What an oasis of calmness and artistry.! The staff was warm and encouraging. The beautiful origami displayed inside the shop was inspiring. Whatever level of origami experience you are, doesn’t matter, you walked away with cute, fun souvenirs. The price for a half hour was very, very reasonable. I felt recharged by my calm creative visit.
Wonderful origami experience in Asakusa!!!!!!! There are animated guides to help you fold origami’s.
Found this neat place in Asakusa when looking for an activity to do near Skytree! My friends and I did the beginner course and had such a fun time. definitely recommend if you’re ever around the area~ Also, the installations were super cool- specifically the Sakura trees and the koi pond!!
This studio would be the best place for non-Japanese tourists in Japan to learn how to do "ORIGAMI." I enjoyed making an ORIGAMI penguin, following the English instructions on a handy screen. It was fun. The studio is located in Asakusa, one of the most favorite tourist spots in Tokyo. When you visit ASAKUSA, don't forget to try to visit the ORIGAMI studio! It will give you an unforgettable memory of Japanese culture.
Located in Asakusa, about ten mitutes walk from Kaminarimon Gate, Taro's Origami Studio is a must-visit place for people who want to experience origami. The studio's highly qualified teachers offer origami demonstrations and hands-on experience in English. Join them in the fun and create unforgettable memories during your stay in Japan!
It was a beautiful and calm place where I could concentrate on origami. My parents are more serious than my children and I am happy to have some repertoire, even though I have only ever folded cranes. I will take this opportunity to try it at home.
I went with my daughter who loves origami. It was nice to choose my favorite color from the colorful origami. It was very easy to understand because you could see how it was folded on a tablet. There were many works on display, and I enjoyed it just by watching. I would like to go out again!!
I made sunflowers out of origami after a long time. The pleasant music and atmosphere reminded me of the wonderful Japanese culture. I'll come again.
You can experience origami. It was fun because I didn’t have a chance to break animals or whales 👏 The works I had seen on Instagram were on display, and I was touched by the warmth of the actual handmade works and the works that seemed to start to move at any moment when I breathed them. Recommended 🙋
Mr. Taro's work is dynamic and delicate. It's worth seeing. Even children can break while looking at the tablet. Of course, adults can enjoy it too!
