Our experience with Yuca was such a joy! From the moment we walked in she made us feel welcome. Our family really enjoyed learning about Japanese cooking and preparing and cooking the food in such a lovely space. We felt like we were cooking with family or an old friend. It was like cooking at home but with much better knives and ingredients. 😋 My kids particularly enjoyed it all and vowed to start cooking as soon as we return home. Our food turned out delicious and there was soooo much. I can still taste it. 🤤 Yuca‘s teas were also very yummy. I highly recommend taking a class on your visit to Japan. Our future Japan visits will definitely include more cooking with Yuca in our itinerary. 🤩

Great intimate cooking class! Was in a cute part of the city, and our host was super sweet! She showed us how to make great ramen and gyoza in a fun way. Highly recommend to any Tokyo travelers!
We had an awesome time as a family cooking together at Yuca's Japanese cooking class in her own home. The class was organised and Yuca was warm and friendly, who was passionate about cooking. Her instructions were easy to understand and step by step. We will definitely make the gyoza and okonomiyaki when we get home as the ingredients used to make these are so versatile and tasty. Would definitely recommend this to all types of cooks!
Very warm people and amazing experience. Had a lot of fun learning how to cook all the Japanese meals, they turned out delicious!
We had a wonderful time at Yuca’s cooking class! She is so warm and friendly, and we learned how to make delicious gyoza and ramen. My 10 year old son also participated in the class and he loved it. The class is in Yuca’s home, in a residential neighborhood, so that was a fun aspect as well.
YUCa’s cooking class is more than just learning to make gyoza: it effortlessly blends cultural connection with a delicious interactive cooking experience. From the small group instruction to the guided trip to the local grocery store, this class gives you an intimate peek into Japanese daily life as experienced through the lens of food. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, signing up for a class like this is a must do. After days of walking 20k steps through the tourist laden streets of Shinjuku and Shibuya, do yourself a favor and spend a quiet morning cooking Japanese comfort food with YUCa in her family’s home. It will certainly be one of the most memorable parts of your trip!
Yuca is an amazing host. We truly enjoyed the experience. We can’t wait to return in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone visiting Tokyo.
Thank you so much for this fun, delicious and just wonderful day! Yuca welcomed us very warmly in her cooking studio and gave us the feeling of diving not only in the Japanese world of cooking but also gave us a feeling of experiencing the authentic Japanese life. We had so much fun learning, preparing food and cooking our first gyoza and okonomiyaki together with Yuca. She is very kind, friendly, enthusiastic of her work and fun, answered all of our questions not only related to the recipes and has just a great style of teaching! Finally, we really enjoyed the food we just prepared! Yuca-san, arigato gozaimashita! We will continue cooking Japanese food and we will be very happy to recreate the food once we are back home! It was so fun. Yuca is super nice and speaks very good English. I felt very comfortable in the environment, and learned a lot about Japanese cooking and the end results were DELICIOUS. I would rate this class a 10 out of 10!
Because it was an amazing day on this beautiful house in Tokyo! Also the cooking class was amazing and for sure we learned a lot from the amazing chef Yuca!
Yuca is so knowledgeable and made the class extremely fun! The class was hands-on but very approachable. All the food we made tasted great. Yuca is an amazing host and teacher!
The cooking class was great! She was a very great instructor and so sweet with my kids. It was a wonderful family experience! I highly recommend!!!
Wow. Fantastic. Great instruction and Yuca was a vibrant and gracious host. I have many years ahead of me till I make the perfect ramen but I have a great start thanks to Yuca.
Ramen & Gyoza class was amazing. YUCa-san was so good teacher during the class. I would say this was one of the best experience during our stay in Tokyo.
Yuca’s class was so much fun for me and my family! She’s amazing and so was the experience. One of the highlights of our trip.
This class is amazing. We were a family group of 8 and everyone loved it. YUCa was an excellent teacher. I highly recommend her class. I can't wait to get home and use what I learned from her to make ramen and gyoza.
This is our second class with the lovely Yuca. We so enjoyed her ramen course in 2023 that we came back to do the okonomiyaki class this year. Such a fun way to experience a little more of Tokyo life. We caught a tram to yuca’s home, in northern Tokyo and had a fun couple of hours learning how to make gyoza and okonomiyaki. It’s also a great way to meet like minded travellers. ( We shared our class with a lovely group of friends from Austria and Germany.) Yuca has good English, is very organised, knowledgeable and happy to chat about daily life in Japan as well as teaching us how to cook delicious local fare. Highly recommend this class!
We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend YUCa’s Okonomiyaki and Gyoza class. The class was held in her home and was very welcoming, nicely organized, and interactive. Beyond learning to make the dishes, YUCa provided cultural information that gave us a better understanding of the art of Japanese cooking. YUCa’s engaging nature made the class delightful and fun.
This was an amazing experience! Everything was very easy to follow and polite, her English is absolutely amazing as well, so conversations/instructions were very easy to follow. Highly recommend giving it a go! The food was delicious, and I'll definitely be going back the next time I visit Japan 🫶
We had so much fun during this class and learned a lot. The food we cooked was delicious and we were very happy! 10/10 would recommend!
YUCa was awesome, the class was terrific - YUCa took the time to explain what each of the ingredients were, provided recipes so we could cook the dishes at home, and gave us tip sheets of where to visit in the area for kitchen tools, food to try and where to go for vintage kimonos. Such a warm welcome, YUCa is a wonderful host and teacher - and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend!
YUCa’s class was incredible! She was so sweet and welcomed us into her home right away. I requested how to make seasoned eggs and she was so happy to teach us. Her home was beautiful and it was so fun meeting other people from across the globe! I definitely recommend this cooking class to everyone!! Thank you YUCa!!
My family and I attended Yuka's cooking class during our recent trip to Tokyo. We had an amazing time learning how to cook ramen and gyoza with Yuka. She was so kind, patient, and fun. She explained every step and made sure. Our kids enjoyed learning how to make the gyozas and are looking forward to making them at home. Yuka also welcomed us with some hot tea and gave us a handout with tips on great places to shop. I recommend doing her class during your first days of your trip so you can get the local tips from Yuka. Thanks Yuka and we hope to come visit again soon to learn how to cook something new. 😀
Yuca was warm and welcoming from the first, and the chance to tour an authentic Tokyo home was very unique. Her set-up is spacious, immaculate and modern. The class walked us through each step at a leisurely pace with lots of help, but independent enough that we’d feel confident making the dishes at home in future. A class size of four was warm and personal, and Yuco kindly catered to my dietary requirements without fuss. She is a consummate professional and someone who clearly loves what she does. Would recommend to anyone who loves good food, meeting new people, and trying something a little off the beaten track.
I try to take a cooking class in Japan every year. The Gyoza & Okonomiyaki class with Yuca is, by far, the most useful and pleasant class I’ve had the privilege to take. Her recipes are clear and easy to understand, her directions and demonstrations break the main points down into simple steps. I never had any difficulties and everything tasted delicious. Yuca goes out of her way to make the experience enjoyable and provides enough information so that you can feel confident reproducing the dishes at home. I absolutely will go again!
Yuca was very welcoming towards us. The instructions were simple to follow, and the food was absolutely delicious. The experience was amazing, and she made sure we could recreate the recipes ourselves!
After enjoying YUCa's Ramen and Gyoza class last year, my wife and I knew we had to take my parents when they visited this year. We took the Okonomiyaki class this time, and enjoyed making the Hiroshima-style savory pancakes. They are really good, and I would say perhaps a bit easier to make at home (for me at least) than the Ramen. It is really delicious and a unique dish that is not as commonly found in the US. YUCa's food culture lecture, supermarket tour, and general positive attitude and helpfulness were amazing, as before. When my sister comes in May we will have to go again!
We spent a lovely morning in YUCa's beautiful kitchen making one of my favourite dishes – okonomiyaki (and gyoza). It was such a great (and delicious!) experience and YUCa was super helpful in explaining everything that goes into the dishes and how to make them. Hands down the best cooking class I have ever attended! Highly recommended.
I had an amazing time learning how to cook Japanese food with Yuca. Very informal, and very fun! I will be taking more classes with her on my return to Japan! I highly recommend!
Thank you for everything, YUCa! It was a very fun experience and the food was delicious. We are looking forward to preparing your recipes at home.
The cooking school experience was very fun and also interesting. Yuca is a patient and friendly teacher, who knows how to put you perfectly at ease. He gave us advice on adapting the recipes and replicating them at home even with slightly different ingredients that are more easily available in Italy. Grazia Yuca, see you next time :)
The cooking class was just awesome. Even from the welcome there was a very pleasant atmosphere. First we prepared the ingredients for Gyoza and the Okonomiyaki and then folded the gyoza ourselves. There were many tips given and we talked very well on the side, After that we built the Okonomiyaki😊 overall a really awesome experience with very good food 👍🏼 I can only recommend without restriction and will definitely visit again!😊
There was a chance to go to Yuga Malui’s cooking class alone so at first I thought I couldn’t speak because I learned very little Japanese, but Yuga was very good at speaking English so I could speak Japanese and English very easily. The place to study is at Yuga’s house, so it’s a Japanese-style house with five other classmates, all five potatoes, all of whom Franny is very excited about making this, and we’re having a great fun, and we’ve also tasted the craft food of our six, and you’re walking through the nearby supermarket to see what ingredients to use. It’s not nice for everyone to learn about Japanese Crossing, but there’s no shopping or exploring the culinary culture. There are plenty of different types of crossing.Want to learn something you can talk to Yuga. The downside, however, is that after school, you have to walk back to the train station, which is very far away because when you met Yuga at the front of the station, you took a taxi to your home. I've been reading this review since 2018, but I realized I haven't written a review yet.
