I showed up late and the instructor was so kind. It was raining and he understood the challenges a foreigner might have navigating a new city. The experience was fun and he also taught me a lot about the history of ninjas and samurai. I really had an amazing time.
Incredibly informative, enthusiastic, thorough, and memorable! Hyoga was the best possible instructor I was actually able to get the moves down with his clear pointers. Space was clean and easy to find.
Very enjoyable experience. My 13-year-old son especially loved all of the ninja/samurai weapons :) Our sensei was very knowledgeable and fluent in English
The Ninja Instructor Master Buduo was very Good. He explained very well and taught us the usage of many weapons. The strategy, survival skills ,meditation We got to train with many weapons and there are games to test your skills . Excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We loved this experience, two hours of action packed learning and fun! Great for families travelling with teenagers
Very immersive class. I enjoyed the history provided and learning the difference between a ninja and a samurai
Was great and I learned a lot especially about the accents ways of then ninja. Now I’m going be able to sneak into my house when I come home late!
Family of four with two teenagers and we all loved it. We were the only ones attending our session which I thought made it exceptional value for money. We got to learn the Ninja meditation and other important facts about Ninja and Samurai and their history and how to move quietly like a Ninja avoiding sharp objects on the floor. We were then allowed to use the real Ninja weapons and practise throwing various throwing stars and blow darts. We then moved on to Samurai Katana sword training and learned several cutting techniques. Our trainer was a delightful lady who was very clear and helpful in her instruction and answered our questions. She also took photos and videos for us. Oh, and we got to dress head to toe in black like Ninjas for the whole session. Hands down the best experience we did whilst in Japan and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to all ages. Simply not to be missed.
Excellent class. An amazing experience to enjoy with the family the professor adapts for different ages. Words won’t do it justice. You have to experience it!
Very informative about Ninja a Samurai traditions and greatly shows how to use various weapons such as samurai/ninja swords, shurikens, throwing needles, and blow darts. Also shows how to move around stealthily and greatly explains ninja and samurai mindset.
This was one of the most unique experiences we had in Tokyo! The instructors were incredibly welcoming, patient, and highly skilled, making the lesson enjoyable for both beginners and those with martial arts experience. Learning the history and techniques of the samurai and ninja, then putting them into practice with authentic swords and weapons, made the experience unforgettable.
My son and I did this ninja samurai session during our Tokyo trip, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our time in Japan. We were staying in Shinjuku, so it took a bit of travel time to get out to the location, but it was 100% worth the trip. From the moment we walked in, the energy was fantastic, and getting suited up in an actual ninja outfit made the whole experience feel special and immersive rather than just another tourist activity. Our instructor was the real star of the show: funny, patient, and clearly a genuine martial arts practitioner, you could tell this wasn’t just a job for him. His acting skills were seriously underrated too; he had us laughing hysterically throughout the session while still keeping things informative. He struck a perfect balance between real history and hands-on learning, teaching us about actual ninja and samurai survival skills and the philosophy and discipline behind both traditions. We learned how to walk silently like a ninja, and then got to practice handling traditional weapons under his guidance, which was a thrill for both of us. By the end, my son and I were grinning ear to ear and talking about it for the rest of the trip. It’s rare to find an activity that blends culture, history, laughter, and hands-on adventure this well. If you’re looking for a truly unique experience in Tokyo, especially one you can share with your kids, I can’t recommend this session highly enough!
This was a fantastic experience. My daughter and I went on the final day of our visit to Japan. We were feeling a bit low because we had a series of wonderful experiences and were sad to be leaving the country after a too short visit. The Ninja Samurai lesson certainly reminded us of all the reasons why we were sad to leave. Our instructor was gracious and patient and answered all of our many questions about ninjas and samurais and their place in Japanese history and culture. But it was also an energetic and uplifting experience to end our trip. Our instructor had terrific energy, was an encouraging teacher, and made us feel at ease immediately. I would highly recommend taking this lesson!
Hyoga Sensei was our instructor. He is very kind, knowledgeable, patient, good-natured. Sensei is an excellent teacher. His English pronunciation was clear and precise. The entire experience of being transformed in our uniforms to learning about the philosophy and history of ninjas and samurai to practicing the principles and gestures of ninja to using the weapons was beyond our expectations. Highly recommend!
Great experience to learn about Ninja and Samurai. A Master teached us most important Ninja activities with a lot of enthusiasm and know how.
Great Sensei, has a lot of passion for the arts and is very empathetic. I can recommend the class for everyone, young and old alike.

We did the samurai experience at this dojo with our two kids (boys 10, 12y). The teacher was fantastic with the children — patient and engaging. His was easy to follow, even for the kids, and he acted out short scenes with us using the techniques we'd just learned. The session ran well over 2 hours instead of the planned time, and he still delivered everything that was promised without rushing through it. The kids loved it.
This was definitely one of the main highlights of our trip to Japan. We learned so much about ninjas, samurai, Japanese culture and traditional weapons such as swords, blow darts and shurikens. Using the weapons on targets was so satisfying and fun, would definitely recommend for anyone.
A great place for both beginners and those who already know a bit. The teachers guide you to your best performance while also giving you theirs. I never thought I had a drop of talent for this type of stuff but I apparently did. Would recommend.
Quite literally the best place to visit in Tokyo, asides from the fact it quite literally breaths truthfulness and history its also insanely fun, we are certain to come again, i was a practitioner of ninjutsu bujinkan for few years but this is whole 'nother universe, every info every fact was on point, and the person teaching us was also really pleasent and really nice, he was gentle and patient in explaining stuff, especially since my friends didn't have prior experience unlike me so it had to be shown multiple times to them, he always kept zen and his cool and even while i wanted to bite my friends arm off for failing to put the katana back into the scabbard this guy somehow kept completely cool and collected, and since im also overweight (fat) he could still acompany me no problem which is both rare to see and also really nice, all in all extremely great teacher with extremely great class and teaching, in the extremely cool space, literally couldn't recommend more
Super wonderful experience! We had a small class size but our instructor made sure he paid careful attention to each of us. Getting a workout, new skills, and a history lesson all at once! It was awesome.
Fantastic experience. I was the only one in the group so I had a personal experience. I had a throughly enjoyable time. His teaching was excellent. I learnt about the history as well as the experience. He also gave me the opportunity to have photos done as well. Well worth it. Highly recommended. One of the highlights of my visit to Japan
It was a super great experience, I wish I could work with the instructor every day he was definitely a great instructor for the two hour sessions! I learned so much and it was the best part of my trip to Nihon! I plan and doing this every year I travel to Japan!! It was one of the best moments for and it is aGREAT experience that everyone should try!!! I recommend it 100%! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This was one of the highlights of our trip for sure!! Our host was incredible: knowledgeable, fun and accommodating to all the guests. We learned about ninja as well as samurai and got to wear authentic clothes, work with swords, throwing starts and so much more. A great way to spend the day.
I booked this experience hoping to just play pretend samurai, but I left there with more than I expected! Hyoga took the time to explain some of the history of samurai in Japan and the meaning behind the language, movements, and techniques used. It was very interesting to see some of the similarities between what we learned and the anime I’ve watched over the years. It was educational, but we had a great time doing the fun stuff too! We got to use a katana, shuriken, and more! I recommend for the entire family.
It was incredible. We dressed like ninjas and learned all about them as well as samurai. We learned about th3 weapons and even got to use them. Yoga was the instructor. He was fantastic. This was the highlight of my trip!
We had a great experience. My son was sick the day of and had to speak with the team to see if we can reschedule. They were really responsive via email within hours of the booking and even called me back. We had instructor Hyogo - he is calm and his knowledge and instruction was some of the best I have had especially give English was his second language. As for the experience you get to do all the cool stuff along with, feeling like you can really feel what it is like to be a ninja. Would recommend.
We had an amazing 2 hour private experience. It was a great mix of history, cultural facts, and hands on practice of the ninja weapons and samurai swords. Our instructor was patient and funny. Happy for us to take photos or take our photos. They were able to accommodate our 9 year old with smaller robes and weapons. Location is bit out of the way but felt more intimate and authentic vs other places that are in the middle of high tourist traffic areas. Highly recommend!
Excellent sensei, I enjoyed every aspect of the class!
We went with as a family of 4. Kids ages 9 and 7. It was so much fun! The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly! We used many weapons and practiced safely with our kids. We highly recommend this activity!
Based on pictures and description of the activity from Viator, I had made up a small idea in my brain what it might be.. but actually doing it far exceeded anything I was or was not expecting. The master was so nice and informative. He felt like an awesome family member and made the whole experience so much fun and exciting. We learned about many different Japanese martial arts and the. Actually tried them in gear. 2 hours went by like in 5 mins. The hands on part and immersive experience is very cool and the way he taught us was so fun. Highly recommend as a family experience, you won’t regret it. Something out of the box of the typical tours.
Such a cool experience! We were the only two in our time slot, so we got a completely personal experience. Our instructor gave us some history/background on ninjas and samurais, taught us about each of the different weapons and how to use them, then we got to test them all out ourselves. He also encouraged us to take lots of photos and videos throughout the session. I highly recommend!
This was a phenomenal experience. It was a great activity where one was introduced to techniques and weapons used by samurai and ninjas. The instruction was clear, safe, and thorough. It was a unique activity which was a welcome change in pace from visiting shrines and temples. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo.
Amazing experience!! So exciting! I felt that I could be Ninja with excellent instructor’s advice.
The teacher Bodu, was very nice and great with the kids. We learned about ninjas and samurai, and we got to practice with samurai swords, ninja swords, throwing stars, and blow darts. My kids (ages 9, 7, 6) loved it and would do it again in an instant!
This was such a great experience! Truly amazing to not only learn the history and culture behind Ninjas, but also learn real skills, practice with real weapons and engage in fun drills with the group. Bodou was an amazing sensei and would highly recommend booking this experience for a true ninja samurai experience.
This was a fun experience where we learnt lots about ninja and samurai. We had the opportunity to try a varied number of skills including a lot of samurai sword skills. Our teacher was very patient and knowledgeable and as a family we had a great time
The friendly, knowledgeable sensei shared the rich history and craft of ninjutsu, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. Practicing katana handling, throwing stars, and blow darts offered a hands-on introduction to this ancient martial art. The training emphasized precision, focus, and respect for tradition, connecting participants to the legacy of the ninja. This immersive experience blended physical skill with cultural insight, providing a unique opportunity to explore ninjutsu’s techniques and philosophy. For those interested in martial arts or Japanese culture, it was a rewarding and engaging journey into a fascinating world.
Great experience, learned all about ninjas, the weapons, the history, a really good event. Thoroughly enjoyable
This was a great two hour class complete with history of ninjas and samurais and a review of their weapons. The teacher was great and made an effort to make sure I was coordinated properly and safely all while having so much fun! I spent 5 days in Tokyo and two weeks later I am writing this review while in Osaka right now. Anyone and everyone I have met along the way now knows about this experience and I highly suggested they take this very unique experience. This is great for families and groups of friends to do, even solo travelers like me! Don’t hesitate, book this experience!
We did the 2 hour experience. It was very fun - we got to wear the clothes and try out many different weapons (katana, throwing stars, blow darts). The experience felt very legitimate - there were cultural explanations and we got to learn about the history and culture as well as the techniques (e.g. the use of the ninja sword's sheath as a survival tool and the role of a ninja in society). The teacher spoke good English, definitely enough to get the point across, and was very friendly and accommodating. There was space to change if you needed. There was a break in the middle and we were given a bottle of water. We got some good pictures/videos out of it which is a plus! Was definitely worth the money - I would highly recommend. Thank you!
Was a great starting experience in what it’s like to be a ninja, and very interactive.
We went to the experience and came out learning all about what ninjas do and what they do to achieve their goals. We also learned about how one wields katanas. It was a fun time.
Great experience with lots to do. I was presented with some good historical and cultural highlights for ninjas and samurai to learn a bit about them. Hyoga sensei was very good at teaching us the ways of the ninja and samurai
This is a great time to bond with your family or friends while participating and learning about one of Japan’s oldest culture. Very memorable! Don’t forget to record your experience with you camera or phone. Onel was a wonderful instructor! Thank you, Onel!! Highly recommended. I’ve already booked it again for our next trip to Tokyo.
If you’re seeking an authentic experience in learning the arts of the shadow warrior, away from the tourist traps, visit this school in Shiomi. Nestled amidst the serene surroundings, it offers a sense of discovery, as if you’ve stumbled upon a hidden training dojo. Engaging in the two-hour experience, I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to wield the samurai sword, ninja stars, and blow darts. The instructor is exceptional, providing personalized guidance throughout the session.
We booked this activity a few days into our Tokyo trip and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. There were 5 people in our Ninja class and 3 in our Samurai class. We learned a lot, got to try out throwing stars, chop sticks and blow darts. Our instructor was great- very capable, very funny. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
This experience was a blast. We had so much fun and the instructor was patient, kind, and funny. We did the 2 hour ninja and samurai training and it was worth it. Definitely recommend!
