I had two recent bookings with Outech on my recent visit to Japan, and I was thoroughly impressed both times. My first was an HND pickup which involved a 4 hour delay in my flight's arrival. No problem, Outech was right there for me anyway (something I do not take for granted since a provider in Europe left me high and dry in similar circumstances). Then a few days later, Shogo drove me from Tokyo to Kamakura and then on to Hakone. Fuji was too shy to appear this day, but everything else was PERFECT. This is not at all a cheap way to travel from Tokyo to Hakone, but I am very satisfied with my purchase. I will certainly be contacting Outech when I return to Japan!

Itinerary
Mount Fuji 5th Station is the entrance to climbing Mount Fuji. Many people climb Mount Fuji from here as a starting point. (It takes 2hours from Tokyo to Mt.Fuji 5th station and travelers usually stay at 5th station for 30mins)
You can enjoy a beautiful view of Mount Fuji over Lake Kawaguchi. There are two different views of Mount Fuji. One is the mountain itself and the other is inverted in its reflection on the water. (It takes 30mins from Mt.Fuji 5th station to Lake Kawaguchi and travelers usually stay at Lake Kawaguchi for 30mins)
Owakudani is the area around a crater created during the last eruption of Mount Hakone some 3000 years ago. Today, much of the area is an active volcanic zone where sulfurous fumes and hot springs can be experienced. It also has good views of Mount Fuji on clear days. Eggs cooked in Owakudani's hot spring pools with their shells blackened by the sulfur are on sale at shops in the area, and eating one is said to prolong one's life by seven years. (It takes 1hour from Lake Kawaguchi to Hakone and travelers usually stay at Owaku-dani Valley for 40mins)
The cable car takes you to Owakudani known as Great Boiling Valley. You can enjoy a beautiful scenery from the cable car.
Hakone shrine was built in 757. Many military commanders prayed at this shrine devotedly, which brought it fame throughout the country. It has a big gate. It provides an excellent view as it looks like floating on the lake ashi.
You can take a sightseeing ship which navigates Lake Ashi. It looks like a pirate ship! On a clear day, a breathtaking view of Mt.Fuji and the gate of Hakone shrine can be enjoyed from the ship. (Travelers usually stay at Lake Ashinoko for 40mins and it takes 2hours from Hakone to Tokyo)

Kana was punctual and friendly. She even provided snacks and water. I greatly appreciated her service
Kana was incredible. She was so kind, so patient and we got to see all the sights. She saved us so much time and we had one of the most memorable days of our lives. Huge thanks Kana, just can’t thank you enough
Daniel was amazing, he was super nice, happy, and helpfull
Kana was an amazing Tour Guide and really showed us around the city. Highly recommend
My wife and I had a great tour to Mount Fuji and Hakone with Outech in April. Our guide Fontes was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He took us to some places away from other tourists so we could enjoy better views of the mountain, and we explored the surrounding area as well. Highly recommend Outech!
We had an incredible experience for a day trip with Babu. He was very knowledgeable, respectful and our kids enjoyed the snacks he bought for them. Despite us being stuck in traffic and late, he ensured we see all the tourist spots and make the most of it. He took shortcuts and avoided the crowded touristy spots. We are incredibly grateful to Babu for showing us around Tokyo. We would recommend him anytime. Hopefully return back and see him once again. Thank u Babu
We had such an amazing time! Our tour guide Kana was very pleasant to be around! She was very helpful and informative! We highly recommend
Fontes gave my wife and I an excellent Mt. Fuji and Hakone tour. He navigated everything seamlessly and made the day feel easy and well-paced, which was not trivial given traffic and how much ground you cover in that area. He hit all the key highlights while still leaving room to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed and helped us get amazing photos. The service and drive were top class. What stood out most was how well he managed timing, routes, and transitions. We were able to see the best viewpoints, avoid unnecessary delays, and get a strong sense of the area in a single day. He also shared helpful context along the way that made the experience more meaningful without overloading it. Overall, a smooth, well-executed tour that covered exactly what we were hoping to see. Would strongly recommend Fontes to experience Mt. Fuji and Hakone.
Fontes was a great guide. We had an amazing day at Mount Fuji seeing the sites and galleries. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
We enjoyed our tour. The views are amazing and memorable. A little disappointed because Mt. Fuji is partly covered with clouds at that time thus we did not proceed to station 5. But overall the tour is very good. After exploring Lake Kawaguchi, we savored a wonderful Japanese lunch at a local restaurant. We also tried the blackened egg cooked in Owakudani's hot spiring pool. It's fascinating to learn that eating the black eggs is said to prolong one's life by seven years. We also enjoyed hiking up to Hakone Shrine, especially seeing the gigantic 800-year-old trees. We also savour the calmness and breathtaking view in Lake Ashinoko. We owe all these wonderful experiences to our fantastic tour guide, Mr. Babu (Maharjan Sanu Babu).

I would have to say this was the most disappointing experience we have ever encountered with viator. I work for an airline and we travel 3-4 times a year and I always book one "big excursion" and try and utilize Viator because of great experiences with them. I myself should have done more research as well to know you CANNOT see Mount Fuji except in the winter time. And we were not there in the winter time. Knowing this tour operators should not sell it as a Mount Fuji experience. Our "tour guide" was really just a chauffer he made no conversation with us gave us no facts. Just drove us up to where we could buy black eggs and told us to take a pirate ship ride (which was not included in the cost) picked us up at the other side, took us to see some flowers and then dropped us back off at the air bnb. I am very disappointed and wasted over $1000 on this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless in the winter.
Excellent day with Masaaki today ! Great knowledge and speaks great English ! Thank you for all and we look forward to another tour with him in the future
We had an amazing Mount Fuji excursion, and Riley, our driver and guide, truly made the day unforgettable. Super accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable—our whole family agreed Riley was a big part of what made the experience so special. Highly recommend!
I just got back from a tour of Mt. Fuji, and it was incredible! Our guide, Umi, made the experience truly unforgettable. From the start, her warm personality and excitement set the tone for the day. I also have to mention our second guide Yousuke who was amazing too. Umi shared fascinating stories about Mt. Fuji and took the time to connect with everyone in our group. She went above and beyond, encouraging us to enjoy the breathtaking views and making sure we were all having a great time. She went above and beyond every way possible. She took white glove service to the next level, and was so flexible and accommodating to us. The warmth she had and put into our experience was second to none. If you’re thinking about a Mt. Fuji tour, I highly recommend it—especially with Umi as your guide! You won't regret it! She took us to Gotemba shopping outlets after I would recommend, there is just to many shops so plan what you want to see. PS, ask her to sing she has the most amazing voice!
I took part in a solo, private tour with the Outech touring company and their guide, Riley (Ryoko). She was an absolute professional from pick-up to drop-off. I cannot recommend her enough for her courteousness, and cultural and historical expertise. If you choose to do the Mt. Fuji Tour, I would suggest avoiding weekends and national holidays as it can get crowded. On a Wednesday afternoon before Christmas, there was only about a hundred or so people in the area which is pretty good. I got lucky as the weather was beautiful, sunny, mostly cloudless, and not too cold. If you go in the winter, I suggest bringing warm clothes as the outside temperature will be around freezing at the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji. The weather around the mountain itself can be very tempermental, so picking the right day to go may be challenging. Once again, I got lucky as the volcano was fully exposed from almost every angle or place we stopped along the tour. It was absolutely awe-inspiring. Hakone is also beautiful, and known for it's bathhouses (onsens). The nearby Owakudani is fun to visit if you don't mind walking near an active volcano that reeks of sulphur. You get used to it after a few minutes. No lava, but a lot of steam spewing from the ground. Tours are available onsite to hike further up the volcano if you choose, but that's separate from the private tour. You can also partake in eating a hard-boiled egg cooked from the heat of the volcano itself, giving the eggshell it's famous "black" egg look. There are souvenir shops all over if you want to bring authentic, handmade Japanese crafts, such as chopsticks or a saki drink, set home with you. There are a lot of places to visit in Hakone, so I would discuss what your options are with your tour guide. It's much more relaxed than Toyko, and a very pleasant place to visit away from all the chaos in the city. I highly recommend this tour if you want a good mix of natural and cultural beauty.
Our driver Soya was terrific. Car comfortable, excellent driver on windy roads and was always there just when we needed him. Toshi our guide was also excellent! She was knowledgeable about the area found a great place for a ramen lunch and took care of everything. Both spoke excellent English.
I have had tour guides lead me places but our guide Ryu, from Outech is a great sample of a pro. Not only did he get us there but he also accompanied us and explained things in a way that was not overbearing. He is very knowledgeable and able to answer questions easily. Having a conversation is not hard and made the trip informational and more interesting. I love that he brought us to a restaurant that served noodles made out of pumpkin well ahead of a huge lunch crowd. . That was a nice experience! Say something
Our driver guide Gen Ko is friendly and trustworthy, he has taken good care of us throughout our 2 days tour - Mt Fuji/Hakone Tour and Nikko tour. Though we did not manage to see the Sakura Blossom but still have a memorable trip. We will definitely engage Outech service and recommend Gen Ko to be our driver guide if we make another trip to Japan again!
I would love to thank Ms Fujiwara for absolutely amazing trip!! Her professionalism and knowledge made our trip to Mt Fuji unforgettable!! She was very polite, accommodating and very safe driver!! We had to experience Ms Fujiwara service on the few occasions and always has been not 5 but 7 stars service!!!!! Her English were perfect!!I would highly recommend her for any trips!!! Thank you so much Ms Fujiwara!!!
Our tour guide, Angie, was so funny and informative with great stories, too. The day was jam-packed with lots of fantastic activities and opportunities to see Mt.Fuji from different vantage points. The quaint village we stopped at before our lunch was so neat! The bullet train back to Tokyo was also a highlight! I highly recommend doing this day trip while visiting Tokyo!!
Excellent tour. Nice vehicle. Exceptional guide / driver Yosuke who showed us all the sights. Highly recommended.
Our tour guide, Riley aka Ryoko, gave us a fantastic tour of Mt. Fuji! She is extremely knowledgeable, fun and engaging! The car was the most luxurious we had on any tour, and even had its own WiFi. Could not have been happier with the tour and Riley. Highly recommended!
Outech did an outstanding job for our whole family during our vacation in Tokyo. The trips to Mt Fuji, Hakone and Nikko were all great and our guides, Moe and Tomoya, were awesome. Would highly recommend Outech for any needs while on vacation in Japan!
Tomoya was a great guide. He is a little soft-spoken, but speaks English very well. We were able to go to many of the places we had planned, but missed out on station 5.5 and even seeing Fuji because of the weather (but we were not surprised by this). We would highly recommend the tour overall. The vehicle was impeccably clean and comfortable for 9 people. Great experience.
We really enjoyed our tour with Riley. Despite the rain, she was able to provide us with alternative sights to see around Mt. Fuji and Hakone. Some notable ones include Oshino Hakkai and the Sekisho Karakuri Museum. We also appreciated her personal anecdotes about the area (and about Japan in general). On a side note, thank you to Riley for the umbrellas! We were able to get a glimpse of Owaku-dani Valley amidst the fog!
Excellent day out with Mr Masayuki Mogi from Outech today for a day trip to Mt Fuji and Hakone. Though the day started with forecast of cloudy day at Mt Fuji, Mr Masayuki was able to think quickly and adjust the trip plans to find alternative sites to get a good view of Mt Fuji. We truly appreciated that as we managed to get several good views of Mt Fuji. We also went to a nearby waterfall (Shiraito waterfalls) and get another good view of Mt Fuji and also a nice rainbow at the waterfall. Further enjoyable moments of the trip were a good lunch at Kintaro soba at gotemba, followed by hakone ropeway to owakudani, and visit to the famous hakone shrine. All in all, it was an enjoyable day for our family and we will engage Mr Masayuki for our next visit to Tokyo.
Definitely love this personalized trip and the best service I’ve met so far. The chauffeur is so polite and explained everything in a very detailed way. The total trip is from 8:30am in the morning to 5 pm. Everything was well scheduled and the view was stunning. Will come back again if I have a chance! Thank you so much.
We asked for an 8-hour tour of Kamakura from a hotel in Tokyo with 6 people including foreign guests. I feel like I have been guided by professionals from all over the world, from the comfort of the car, to the safety of driving, to the extensive English-speaking guides, to the detailed attention to weather and seasons. I'd like to ask you again.
We loved the Guide and driver Roberto. It took us from Tokyo to Hakone, we went to museums, Mount Fuji and other activities. We indicated excellent restaurant (not tourist). Very friendly, flawless work! We highly recommend .
