We had an excellent time exploring Hakone and the surrounding area with Yasir. Yasir picked us up in Tokyo was a very safe driver, and we made great use of the day. He was also very accommodating when we wanted to spend more time in places. We especially enjoyed the Hakone Shrine and Open Air Museum. We also hired the same tour company for a private tour of Kyoto’s temples, with Dhanu, who was also excellent.
We had a great time with our guide Yasir! We used this excursion partly as a tour to see Mount Fuji, and partly as a private shuttle from Tokyo to Hakone. We started our day on Tokyo, where we were picked up directly from our hotel. We spent the rest of the day visiting various places around Fuji, which was magnificent. The ride from Tokyo to Mt Fuji was really enjoyable. We got the luxury van which had footrests and other amenities. It was definitely worth it. We were two, but the car could have easily fit 4 - 5 comfortably. Finally we finished the day in Hakone, where we were checking into our next hotel. It was a really great experience for us. We found it to be a fun & stress free way to get from Tokyo to Hakone.
It was the most amazing trip!!! We have enjoyed it so much and will never forget the magnificent Mt. Fuji views and sightseeing in the area. Our guide Yasir was very punctual, polite and adjusting to our preferences which made the trip so unforgettable. Yasir was driving safely the car was very comfortable and clean. We had lunch in the place with delicious Japanese food - we could also choose on the restaurant type. Yasir planned the time of trip also to make sure we would have best Mt. Fuji views possible with beautiful scenery. We visited a lot and had time for so many activities like visiting a beautiful old shrine and Hakone cablecar. I would definitely recommend Yasir to anyone as a perfect driver and tour guide who was able to tell us a lot about visited places but also let us to enjoy the time with no rush.
We had an amazing day tour with Yasir. Being in Japan with my family for the first time it was pretty exciting when you make the Booking from across the world (Europe) and don’t know what to expect. It was beyond and above our expectation! He took us to Mount Fuji, Kawaguchi Lake, Oshino ponds, Hakone ropeway and a ship cruise over Lake Ashi (see the photos I took). Yasir guided us through each excursion, which was so wonderful. After a day full of new experiences and memories we could sit back and relax in the luxurious van which can seat 5 people. We had a fabulous private tour out to Mt Fuji and Hakone. Our driver, Abrar, was excellent. He was very accommodating, checking in with us before the tour to ask where we wanted to go so he could have a personalised itinerary planned for us. Nothing was too much trouble. He also knew great places to stop for lunch. His vehicle was luxurious, comfortable and very clean. We had such a good day, that we ended up booking a second day. We highly recommend this tour.

Abdul was very pleasant to travel with. He was very accommodating to our personal requests and helped so much with our toddler. He had a baby seat ready and even stayed in the car with him while he was napping so we could see the sights of Mt Fuji. Excellent tour to Hakone and Fuji area. We saw several breathtakingly beautiful sights. We couldn't have covered even half of the sights in a DIY trip that we were contemplating earlier. Our driver and guide, Mike, curated the itinerary to suit our family's needs. He spoke very good English and followed us on each site, telling us more about each area and giving valuable tips. He also clicked some great pictures for us. The car was spacious, clean and very well maintained. All in all, we had a fantastic day.
Mike was such a wonderful tour guide! He was so sweet and personable and we loved not only being led throughout Hakone and Fuji with him, but also being able to chat and have conversation! He was very knowledgeable about the areas and told us so much about everything. We had a beautiful day and he made the trip perfect with such a great itinerary. We had delicious food and lots of snacks that were staples of the areas. It was such a cool day and the things we saw were incredible. This was a fantastic experience! Very impressed considering it was the cheaper option on Viator. Khan was fantastic, very kind and a great driver. We appreciated his communication before and during the trip. He made travelling to Fuji as easy as it can be!
Our guide was patient, knowledge, and kind. My dad is 65 and he waited on him everywhere we went! We had a great time at Fuji and cable car, and the shrine
Overall we did enjoy this tour. We saw the things we wanted to see and the weather was perfect. However there were some shady things that happened throughout which is the reasoning behind the review score. Our guide Puscal, first told us we needed to pay for parking in one area, then we paid for his lunch, then at the end of the tour he informed us we needed to pay him 4000 yen extra per hour. The extra hours were all due to traffic from the holiday weekend. None of this was mentioned in the booking and at no time we were told during the tour. Essentially our guide was just demanding a tip. Tipping is also not widely excepted in Japan. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but this behavior is not acceptable.
Overall trip was very good. Guide/Driver Ali was friendly, knowledgeable, drove the car well and also helped us find a restaurant that fit our needs. Sora tours, which provided the service was also responsive. Two of the places mentioned on the Viator website was not covered. I tried to bring up this with the guide during the trip couple of times and also Sora Travels. They just evaded the question and I gave up. I strongly suggest that Viator should only list on their website only the places they plan to cover.
The Hakone tram ride and the area were very nice. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to see Mt. Fuji or permit us to ride the speed boat.
Great to be able to adjust the tour to the places we were most interested in going to see. The weather was overcast so we couldn’t see Mount Fuji properly but the views were still nice around the areas we travelled to. Loved the authentic udon restaurant we were taken to- very traditional. Definitely recommend this tour if you’re keen to see the sites outside of the city of Tokyo
Our guide Puskal was amazing, the trip was spectacular. He covered everything that was planned. He took us for lunch to eat this amazing traditional food that was super delicious.
I would highly recommend this tour and tour company. In the space of a day we saw a huge number of sights around Hakone and the Fujiyama 5 Lakes District. These were my families highlights: The Owakudani Ropeway and sulfur mine was fascinating, the area is also very pretty. The Oshino Hakkai Springs and village (including traditional houses with thatching that people still live in) make for great photos of Mt Fuji and were nice to wander around. The Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine is the first shrine my children told me was 'interesting' and not boring! It is very imposing, set in the middle of a forrest and has 1,000y old trees and a range of shrines onsite. The jet boat trip on Lake Kawaguchiko was alot of fun, the boat driver keep spinning us around and hitting all the waves from the other boats. The lake is very pretty and the view of Mt Fuji was spectacular. It was also interesting seeing Mt Fuji from so many different locations throughout the day.
Puskal was our guide on this truly wonderful tour. It was just the right length and complexity for a family trip. We were never bored. Puskal was a knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful guide. We had enough time to spend in Hakone, Oshini Hakkai and Lake Kawaguchi. We highly recommend the tour as well as Puskal as the guide!
Puskal was a great tour guide. He confirmed our pick up time the night before and was very prompt the next morning at our hotel. Mike was a gem!! So interesting, and involved. Explained the tour and what we needed to do extremely well - speaks perfect English! He was intuitive and keen to show us things that he thought we would be interested in, and not just the stock standard itinerary. He was a perfect guide and we couldn’t be more delighted with our day. Thoroughly impressed and would recommend this tour especially with “non-smoking” Mike. You will not be disappointed. The village and the garden “Oishi” were the highlights, he even took us to a restaurant where we enjoyed traditionally made soba noodles. If you have limited time in Japan, do this tour. We saw all the highlights on a very crowded day, with none of the hassle. Most excellent day and one of the best tours I have done in all of my travels.
The communication was horrible with the company. They asked to communicate only through Viator and then wouldn't respond to questions we had and confirmation of our tour. They canceled the tour 11:00 pm the night before. We believe they double booked. Thats bad business. Beware of this company, never book with them!
We had good and fun one day trip. We were lucky to have Abdulla as our driver and guide. He was flexible to make few changes to the places we wanted to visit and provided some recommendations which were really amazing.
This is my 3rd visit to Japan and to Mt Fuji area. There were a lot of good things about this tour, starting with getting picked up from our Tokyo Bay hotel (instead of needing to travel to the set hotels in/around Central Tokyo) and later getting dropped off where we requested. The English-speaking tour guide was great, took photos of us, provided information about the sights but also gave us time to ourselves. He also gave us the option to begin the tour earlier to avoid the rush hour so our time was spent on the tour instead of the city traffic. Despite that, we did not get to all the listed places on the tour. I would still recommend this tour: take a screenshot of the listed itinerary to help keep track of the places. The view of the snow-capped Mt Fuji from Lake Kawaguchiko is beautiful since we were there mid-March 2024; but maybe book this tour 1-2 weeks later to see the flowers in Oishi Park in full bloom, and also for the sakura which was only starting to bud at that time. The 398 stone steps to the top to see the Chureito Pagoda was well worth it. This tour in a comfortable private car took us to places that would be hard to reach via public transportation (which I did in 2023), and via the big bus tour (did in 2019). I would do this tour/company again.
Our tour guide Abrar was great! He made our tour memorable and comfortable. He recommended a couple places and snacks that we did not have on our itinerary; and they were a couple of the more memorable things added to our trip. The ice cream being one of them, never tasted ice cream so good! Another nice thing was Abrar offered to take photos of us and knew when to give us personal space after showing us the ropes at each site. If on the fence about which tour to choose I would definitely recommend this one.
