Our guide Tomoko was stellar. The auction itself is not as interesting as one might think after the first impression of the immense amount of fish and all the buyers and staff scurrying around. Best part was sushi for breakfast with market workers.

Our guide, Sachiyo san was very knowledgeable and had the great picture book to explain the fish market and history. She was well prepared and got our moneys worth of our tour. She picked us up at the hotel on time in order to get a good spot at the observation area. Highly recommend her as a guide for this tour.

Our tour to explore Tokyo’s famous fish market scene exceeded our expectations. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we got a prime viewing spot for the action at Toyosu — well worth arriving early with someone who knows the process. There was so much tuna! Luckily at the end of the auction part of our tour we were able to have an outstanding omakase breakfast that was incredibly fresh and delicious. From there, our guide walked us through the original market, pointing out different fish species and navigating us through the maze of stalls with ease. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting an authentic, well-guided look at Tokyo’s massive fish market.
Set your alarm clock and do it! Hiro was a fantastic guide from start to finish! He began with excellent communication on our meet up time and place which made us feel comfortable with him already. We loved that Hiro shared his knowledge and experience, answered our questions with warmth and great storytelling. The tuna auction was fascinating. We especially enjoyed our tour of the old market and enjoyed the best sushi of the trip (and our life time. Really,) Initially, we didn't want to get up so early and we didn't book this tour- but we kept hearing about how great it is. We only had a few hours in Tokyo and wanted to make the most of it. And WE DID!! or Nobby did it for us!! Toyosu & Tsukiji Markets with the Tuna Auction, Imperial Palace, Asakusa, Meiji Jingu Shrine - All planned like clockwork, sharing special stories and history. Nobby was fantastic, and we could not have asked for a better guide. We felt very lucky and we will remember that experience forever because of his kind, gracious, and expert demeanor. I had such a great experience at this bonsai making class. It was fun, hands-on, and genuinely memorable. The class made bonsai feel approachable while still giving a real appreciation for the craft and patience behind it. What also really stood out was how kind and accommodating they were. I had a last-minute emergency and needed to reschedule later in the week with almost no notice, and they handled it so graciously and made the whole process easy. Overall, it was a very cool experience and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I enjoyed it so much that I plan on continuing bonsai making at home in the USA. Highly recommend.
The tour begins with fascinating education about the fishing industry and ends in a lively, unique market. You're sort of following the fish from their originating waters to where they meet the fish consumer—there's information at first and then hands-on experience in the marketplace, all set in the historical and contemporary context of this vital global industry. Our guide, Nobby, was terrific—friendly, knowledgeable, responsive to our questions, and just great company all around. My 16-year-old daughters said they could tell that he loves his job, and he skillfully engaged them in a presentation about a completely unfamiliar topic. This is not an easy thing to do! Set your alarm clock and get down to take this tour. It may end up being a surprisingly enduring memory.

The fish market tour requires an early AM start, but it was very interesting to watch the fish auction. We were picked as part of the lottery and were able to observe from a closer deck. Yoko and Nobby provided our tour and they were both friendly, knowledgeable and accommodated us when we wanted to make a stop at the various stalls in the market.
First the tuna auction tour is absolutely worth while. When you have a wonderful and knowledgeable guide like we did with Sachiyo it is even better. She was absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time from start to finish with Hiro. He picked us up at the hotel early and we went to watch the tuna auction. He explained all aspects, from the technical to the economic. We then did a tour of the wholesalers market which included seafood and produce. He then gave us tour of the retail area with all the stores before saying good bye. Hiro left us with great recommendations for the best food stalls and small restaurants in the retail area. 5 ⭐️.
Yumi was a fantastic guide. She knows so much about Japanese history in general but she also made the fish market a very unique experience for us. That kind of operation is massive and she made sure we got the best views and pictures. She also recommended an amazing sushi tasting for us after our tour and I have to say, it was the best tuna I ever had. The quality was perfect! My husband really enjoyed the experience as well! He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Japanese food culture and traditions. Thanks to him, we learned so much about the tuna auction, the history of the markets, and local specialties we would have completely missed on our own. Nobby made the whole tour fun, relaxed, and very authentic. He also introduced us to delicious foods and hidden spots that made the experience even more special. We had a great tour with Mayumi. Having a young daughter with us, it was great to have a private tour that could be adjusted based on our needs. She was very knowledgeable and helped navigate what would otherwise be a confusing lottery and viewing process. She also helped us pick a delicious spot for breakfast and where to look to buy certain items within the busy market.

And to top it off, we were able to purchase some of the highest quality o-toro. I would definitely recommend this tour for folks willing to get up early to see how the biggest fish market in the world operates and get some delicious food on the way!

The Tuna auction and food tour started early in the morning at 4.30am but it was worth it! Nobby was knowledgeable, informative and passionate in showing us his hometown. Nobby explained not only the sights but also the processes of the tuna auction. We then travelled to a food market where he once again explained the customs and traditions of Japanese food and culture. Definitely worth it and Nooby was terrific!

Our guide, Tomoko, came to pick us up at our hotel at the early hour of. 5:00 am. We took a taxi to the Toyosu tuna auction site. Tomoko was informative as nd kind and considerate. The tuna auction was very interesting! After, we went yo a coffee. Then visited the markets (amazing vegetables, seafood and condiments! Tomoko took us to a sushi breakfast (at 7 am!) Loved it! Then we took a bus to go to Tsukiji Market, which was already full of people (mostly tourists). Very interesting, but kind of chaotic! Definitely worth having a guide to help us see everything and Tomoko was graceful and sweet and informative!

Incredible experience. Kumiko the guide was very friendly and gave a great understanding of the market and tuna. We went to a nice tuna tasting breakfast after and it was definitely an experience I will always remember.
