We had such a great time at this pottery class! It was a fun way to try something different and experience a little more of Japanese culture. The two ladies who led the class were wonderful. They were so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They made the whole experience enjoyable and made us feel comfortable trying something new. The pottery-making was a lot of fun, and the matcha tasting was a great addition to the experience. It was a really nice change of pace from sightseeing and gave us something unique to remember our trip by. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo. It was fun, hands-on, and well worth doing!

We absolutely loved our Modern Kintsugi Class with Michiko. It was such a beautiful and meaningful experience from beginning to end. Michiko was incredibly kind and welcoming. She started by explaining the history and philosophy behind kintsugi, as well as the different traditional and modern techniques, before guiding us step by step through the creation of our own pieces. Her explanations were clear and engaging, and her English was excellent. What made the experience even more special was the atmosphere she created: she accompanied us throughout the workshop with such gentleness, patience and discretion, always available when we needed help while still giving us the space to enjoy the creative process ourselves. She also treated us to some delicious Japanese sweets and prepared a wonderful matcha for us, which was such a lovely touch and made the whole experience feel even more authentic and personal. We are extremely happy with what we created and will bring home not only two very special souvenirs, but also a beautiful memory of our time in Japan. A truly wonderful experience that I would absolutely recommend!
It was an amazing experience. We spent 2 hours doing art work and learning about the various process of kintsugi art while tasting various Japanese treats and matcha tea. Michiko sensei and her assistant were super helpful in creating a fun and friendly workshop. This was a fun way to top off a birthday trip. Afterwards we all agreed that it was one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had in Tokyo. I'd recommend others to do it for a special occasion or making a memory that you wish to treasure. Lastly you get to take home a special personalized art work. Personally I think it was priceless. Tip: I recommend arriving 10 minutes early as it took us some time to find the small office door upstairs of the grey bulding. Also, I'd not trust Uber to arrive on time. There was traffic and rain delay on our day of event.
We had such a wonderful and truly special experience at this Kintsugi Workshop at mon cadeau kintsugi in Tokyo! The experience was incredibly personal and intimate. The owner and sensei Michiko took so much time for us, explained everything with great care and patience, and guided us through the process. She was also very supportive in arranging this special appointment. We had a wonderful time, learned so much about the beautiful philosophy behind Kintsugi, and created our own self-made Kintsugi keepsakes to take home. Definitely one of the highlights of our Japan trip! We are very grateful for this special experience and would definitely recommend Michiko’s Kintsugi workshop to anyone visiting Tokyo. ❤️
A peaceful oasis in the midst of one of the world’s busiest cities. Michiko is a kind and patient teacher. I am so glad that I slowed down to enjoy a meaningful morning to make something beautiful together.
We had a lovely time trying kintsugi during our trip to Tokyo. Our teachers and hosts were very welcoming and we had a chance to relax for a couple hours and each repair a small dish. The experience is like going to an artist friend’s home. Highly recommend this activity!
I booked this session for my daughter and her friend, two 14 years old girls and they loved the experience ! They came back very enthousiastic, saying t was an amazing kintsugi experience. They told me that the ladies were extremely polite and welcoming. They took picture of the artwork and were very pleased to share it with me. It is a little bit pricey but it is worth the money considering the quality of the lesson, environnement and human value, authentic Japanese traditions and hospitality. I would definitely recommend !
From my granddaughter: "I am 11 years old, and this was one of the best things I did in Japan! I had never heard of kintsugi before, and now I think it's amazing. I loved repairing a broken bowl with gold, and I learned that broken things don't have to be thrown away—they can become even more beautiful. My teacher was so sweet and kind. She smiled all the time, explained everything patiently, and made me feel like I could do it too. I never felt nervous, even when I wasn't sure I was doing it right. I also loved making real matcha tea and learning lots of interesting stories about Japan. It didn't feel like a lesson at all—it felt like spending time with someone who really loves sharing her culture. I will always remember this class and I can't wait to show my kintsugi bowl to my friends when it arrives home. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!"
This was an excellent experience. It was intimate and authentic. Michiko is a true artist and you can tell she loves what she does. She takes pride in her craft and is a great teacher. Her assistant was attentive and helpful. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to try a Kintsugi workshop.
I loved the Kintsugi class with Michiko! It was such a lovely exprience, learning something about japanese culture and traditions. As we live in a very convenient and fast-paced world, it’s so easy to replace anything. But this workshop teaches you, there is beauty in repairing something that’s broken. Making it a unique piece and seeing potential in something that is “not perfect”, maybe making it perfect in your individual way. Especially crafting with own hands can bring so much joy and peace and is such a meditative practice. Michiko is really a kind and warm person and her knowledge and craftsmanship are amazing. It was an honour to learn from her. I can highly recommend this workshop for anyone, who is looking for a very unique experience in Japan, where you walk out with a self-made souvenir, a light heart and smile on your face. What a nice way to spend the time during a rainy day. Thank you Michiko for providing the beautiful space! I feel grateful to have met you (:
We had a great morning with Michiko! When we arrived she prepared us a delicious cup of Matcha. Then she told us about the history of Kintsugi while setting us up with barley tea and a beautiful selection of sweet and savory snacks. Then we worked on repairing our broken plates (she has a selection to choose from). My husband was surprised by how much he enjoyed this activity and thanked me later for scheduling it.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Michiko-san provided a wonderful experience - from the matcha, to the barley tea, to the snacks...and that was just the warm up. The Kintsugi workshop was excellent and every step was explained to us. Michiko-san is a wonderful teacher and we ended up with some nice looking plates. Would recommended to everyone, fantastic!
Wonderful and calming experience! I wasn’t sure what to expect and completely exceeded expectations, including the overall experience and friendliness of our instructors. I would highly recommend!
This is a truly wonderful workshop. Michiko's skill and love for this art shines. Her patience and guidance for novices like us were most appreciated! It was an honour to learn from Michiko and to understand a little more about kintsugi. Our plates are now on full display in our home. Thank you Michiko.
Michiko is an incredible teacher and host. My husband and I had a great experience at Mon Cadeau learning the art of kintsugi and seeing the beauty in the imperfect. It was the calm respite in a busy city that allowed us to be very present while fully taking in kintsugi - the history, the craft, and the art. Michiko went above and beyond to welcome us into her space with tea, sweets and letting us say hi to her dog! She is truly a master at what she does and this experience was absolutely a highlight of our honeymoon! I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone who has the opportunity to visit.
We had an amazing experience learning about - and practicing - modern kintsugi at Mon Cadeu. There is decent history about the culture around the custom and its practice as well as a full process from break to gold leaf with guidance and support, not to mention delicious matcha tea and yummy traditional Japanese treats! Will be recommending to absolutely everyone when they visit!
This kintsugi workshop was a fantastic experience. The instructor guided us with patience and expertise, making the intricate process of repairing broken ceramics with gold both accessible and deeply meditative. My wife and I left with a beautiful piece of art and a new appreciation for finding perfection in imperfection. The atmosphere was serene and welcoming, providing the ideal environment for creativity. I highly recommend this course to anyone seeking a unique and meaningful craft.
This was such a joyful and peaceful experience! Stylish Michiko and her assistant Yuki took us through all the steps of this traditional japanese practice with so much care and attention. The beautiful surroundings, music and refreshments really made for a truly special time, not to be missed. I would love to bring my daughters from Sydney to do this, next time!
This was a very enjoyable experience to do in Tokyo. Our teachers were very knowledgeable about the art of kintsugi and explained each step of the process. Our plates came out beautiful and we were served delicious Japanese candies and matcha! I definitely recommend this experience for anyone fixing Tokyo!
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at Mon Cadeau! Peaceful, welcoming space with gracious hosts that guided us through the whole process. Appreciated the tasty refreshments while we worked and we left with our lovely little keepsakes packaged beautifully.
We had a great time! We would totally do it again. Plus I got to cuddle with their pup!
This workshop was a highlight of our time in Tokyo! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Tokyo and seeking an authentic cultural experience. Michiko was the kindest person who opened up her home for the workshop and knowledgeably walked us through the kintsugi process. She was so thoughtful, even providing tea and Japanese sweets, and showed everyone how to write their name in Japanese. The group size was small which provided an intimate setting and there were multiple options for customizing your plate. Now we have a beautiful cultural souvenir to take home and great memories of the experience. Cannot recommend this enough!!!
I attended this kintsugi class as a gift and it was even more enjoyable than I had expected. The experience was relaxing, and I found the whole process quite calming. Michiko-san made the class especially fun—she’s an experienced artist with a fun personality. The setting was peaceful, which added to the overall atmosphere, and the matcha tea was really yummy! I would highly recommend this class.
Expert tuition from great teachers. Perfect activity for my teen daughter and I. Loved it and will treasure my little kintsugi plate forever!
Taking this class was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Japan! The hosts were incredibly polite and welcoming, and they made the entire experience unforgettable. We learned so much and had a fantastic time from start to finish. If you're visiting the area, do yourself a favor and book this. Highly recommend!
We had a great experience at the Kintsugi workshop. The workshop was nicely appointed and comfortable. Snacks and tea were provided which was lovely! We’re very happy with the small plates we repaired and they will remind us of this wonderful trip every time we use them.
This was an excellent workshop! I loved learning about Kintsugi and the steps to complete this artform. Not only was the workshop informative and engaging, but being treated to tea and snacks during the activity was wonderful! It seemed like every thought was accounted for and there were some fun surprises along the way! Highly recommended for a quality Japanese experience.
Michiko-sensei’s kintsugi class is so so good. It was one of our favorite things we did in two weeks in Japan. She is a charming teacher who helped us understand kintsugi and wabi sabi, guided us through the steps, and served as a charming host. The matcha tea and snacks were delicious, and Michiko’s studio was lovely. Don’t hesitate to book this one!
Michiko is a kind and intuitive hostess. Her studio space is beautiful, and she has a lot to teach about the art of kintsugi. A memorable part of our trip!
Wow, what an incredible experience! Michiko was so kind, generous, and knowledgeable. And she really went above and beyond to create a memorable experience from warm match, sweet treats, and even sharing our name spelling in Japanese so we could include it on the bottom of our plates - truly one of a kind! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you!
Michiko-san's class was a perfect break from the bustle and crowds of Tokyo. We really enjoyed learning more about Kintsugi, practicing a bit, and walking away with our projects. The tea ceremony is a nice bonus and calming way to start. This was a great group activity. Thank you Michiko-san.
This is our best experience. Our beautiful host welcomed us with fresh matcha, tea and delicacies and then we chose our plate. She guided us, carefully checking our work, and told us of the traditional practices - her English is perfect. We enjoyed more snacks throughout our morning and all equipment was supplied to enable us to finish our plates painted with gold. These were presented in wooden boxes for us to take home. We were all very happy with our end product. We especially loved that she was so lovely and she had a photo of our home town in her home as she is married to a kiwi! Well worth every cent and more. We even bought a kitset to do once home on our own broken plates. 11/10!
I had an amazing experience at Mon Cardeau Kintsugi in Tokyo. Michiko-san was incredibly knowledgeable, stylish and spoke perfect English. She made the workshop feel very authentic and she was skilled at teaching. Learning the art and philosophy of kintsugi was fascinating and hands-on. I love my dish! One of the most memorable things I did in Tokyo — highly recommended. I would definitely go back!
I recently attended a workshop at Mon Cadeau and it was a 10/10 experience. Michiko-san is a wonderful teacher — patient, skilled, and very friendly. She truly cares about her students and their work. The studio has a great atmosphere, and the attention to detail is amazing. It was a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Tokyo and a chance to learn a traditional craft that I will treasure forever. Don’t miss this if you’re visiting Shibuya!
Our family with two sons age 12 and 14 had a great kintsugi experience. Really nice ambiance and environment with two vwry dedicated and helpful instructors. Great to get to taste local sweets and matcha before we started. Recommend this experience!
This was such a wonderful workshop. Michiko was so organized and knowledgable. I was impressed how beautiful her studio was too! Highly recommend!
Amazing experience. Amazing host. Being able to create your own Kintsugi bowl under the guidance of a teacher was very special. Our host was very kind and generous with Japanese snacks and drinks all the way through. Really good value for money. Dont miss out!
This mon cadeau kintsugi workshop experience was excellent, befitting of its description. While enjoying matcha tea and delightful sweets and crackers, our instructor, Michiko, shared the history of traditional kintsugi. She then clearly guided us in the step by step process of modern kintsugi. Friendly and engaging, she answered many of our questions. Our pieces turned out beautifully with the contrast of the gold "cracks" against the pottery. I highly recommend this workshop!
Mon Cadeau and her assistant were amazing. We felt comfortable and had lots of laughs, this was truly an amazing experience and I would do it again.
I went with my teenage daughters and from the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, it was a wonderful experience. Everything was explained in detail, examples were shown and nothing was too hard to accomplish. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to experience the more traditional side of Japan.
Participating in this kintsugi workshop gave me a deeper understanding of what “repair” truly means. Watching a broken piece of pottery be carefully restored—where the cracks become the most striking feature—was a deeply moving experience. The instructor was exceptionally kind and professional. Since it was a one-on-one session, the atmosphere was calm and serene. The room smelled wonderful, and the view of Mount Fuji from the window was breathtaking. The wagashi and matcha provided were the perfect finishing touches. Although the final piece is for decorative purposes only, the memory of the process is truly invaluable. Highly recommended!
A beautiful and calming Kintsugi class with Mon. I loved learning the philosophy behind the art and my family left with a gorgeous piece of art each. Highly recommended for a unique cultural experience in Japan. Thankyou for welcoming us and sharing your world.
Michiko and Yuki were amazing instructors. Very kind and patient. The experience itself was truly memorable and we got to take home two very beautiful plates we were able to repair. We also learned about the history of the art and how it was started. We were offered some amazing matcha and cute snacks to try while waiting for the adhesive to dry. The location is in a residential district but absolutely beautiful and safe area. We got to see MT Fuji from the window. I would highly recommend this experience to couples and families.
Michiko is great! She is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful with our hands-on work. She communicates in English well, and is happy to answer any questions related or unrelated to the workshop. We had a fun afternoon with her and got lots of tips about Tokyo. Thank you Michiko!
I had an amazing experience in the Modern Kintsugi workshop. If you are interested in doing Kintsugi while in Japan, do yourself a favour and book this!! Michiko explained everything step so clearly and helped me whenever I had issues. It was also insightful getting to talk to someone from Japan. And my finished plate is beautiful, I can't wait to use it!
Wonderful experience with Michiko-sensei. She is so welcoming and the class is conducted in her beautiful home. I really wanted to learn kintsugi to restore some of my own items and bought the tool kit so I can do it at home, and honestly cannot wait to start. I feel very inspired and the whole experience was just lovely, from the snacks, to the kintsugi itself, to chatting with Michiko-sensei. Perfect way to spend a wholesome Sunday afternoon with friends.
Such a rewarding and beautiful activity. Accessible for everyone with clear instructions and enough time without feeling pressure to finish. Highly recommend!
Such a wonderful experience, with such lovely, warm and kind hosts!!! Make sure you do this class, you won’t regret it! Thank you so much!!!
This class is a delightful and informative hands-on experience. Our Host provides expert instructions, clean and organized workspace and warm hospitality. Our class size was very small, allowing for individual attention to my work. I am very happy with this experience and would recommend it to any of my friends. In fact, I took this class over other kintsugi classes on the recommendation of my friends.
This was one of our favorite experiences in Japan! It was so relaxing to sit down and learn the art of Kintsuji from Michiko. She was absolutely wonderful, and set such a beautiful vibe in her home with incents, music and snacks along with the workshop. Truly a memory we will cherish!
