We ended up not going on this tour. No Communication what so ever between the company and tour guide. Information listed on Viator has a different time, upon receiving the ticket there's another listed time. We went with the time and location listed on our tickets. We woke up early, and arrived at the designated spot only to realize that its not the correct one. We never received any contact info or email from tour guide the previous day. We cannot contact the host company since they dont open until 9AM. Viator rep. cant even reach the host company for any info. We ended up getting a refund for the tour. No apologizing email or phone call from the company which was Hotel Takitei what so ever.

Reviews
Cheng was our driver for the excursion to Nikko. He drove us quickly and safely, and on the way back, he dropped us off right at the hotel door. A great driver.
Yuma was great. Messaged me the day before with check-in in time. She used had different message apps to ensure everyone received communications. Plenty of time at each site. Explained all the sites. After arriving at each site, she sent local restaurants recommendations. We were able to see monkeys on the way home. Bus was comfortable and relaxing. I am glad that we let earlier. We returned on a timely manner.
I am separating the review of the tour organization from the destination. The three attraction are all wonderful, and in particular the shrines in Nikko are the most impressive r I have seen in Japan. But A. the stop at the lake was rushed B. It was more appropriate to add time and encourage us to have lunch at the falls around noon as food was available at the site C. The lunch break at the shrine was too late in the afternoon and food options were remote.. it would have been nice to get a map and better guidance how to get to the bridge or add a stop by the bridge. D. We were told that there won’t be restroom break and the drive back was 2 hours and 45 minutes. We should have e left earlier adding a 10 min break on the way back
We were a bit surprised that the tour was in 3 languages. Unlike other tours that were all English. A lot of time was spent talking Japanese and Chinese then a few sentences in English. It was very difficult to understand and figure out what was happening. A bit disappointed that most of the times were also cut from what itinerary showed. Not at all what we believed we booked
I had a wonderful time on the Nikko tour; the guide, Yuma, was simply amazing—she shared interesting stories and was very helpful. Her English was very easy to understand, too. It was 100% worth the cost and the time spent, and we were very lucky with the weather!
We made 3 tours with 3 guides. Eric, Allan and Yuma. Hakone, Kamakura and Nikko. They were all 3 absolute nice , friendly and perfectly organized. If you are on a short visit in Tokio I think these tours are the best you can make to see as much as possible in limited time.
Boarded the tour bus at Shinjuku station, where we were greeted by our friendly guide Yuma. She provided a good narrative for the program of the day, and kept us up to date with the important information, in writing via WhatsApp. It was particular helpful at the end of the visit at the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, where she sent us the coordinates for the bus. The Nikko Toshogu Shrine was the highlight of the tour. Due to unfortunate weather conditions, we were not able to see the Kegon water falls, just hear them. We were pretty much walking in a rain cloud.
The guide was very kind and very helpful. He speaks English well though not perfectly. We went everywhere we should, and had enough time. You do need to double-check that your tour will be in English. One e-mail from the tour operator (Gogoday) said the tour will be in Chinese only, but fortunately it was wrong. Some other customers have the misfortune of getting tours in the wrong language. Admission fees are not included in the tour price. At the shrine and museum, a ticket costs 2,400 yen per person. At the waterfall, an elevator ticket costs 600 yen per person.
That you sit In a Coach for 5 hours and becomes cramped and uncomfy although there are toilet breaks which makes it easier! Our guide tety was great as patient all the time as we had a huge crowded bus
The temple is the highlight of the tour! The site is fantastic and the setting Is amazing. The bus is a great way to get there in one day. It is worth noting that the finding the tour among all the other GoGoToday guides starting at the “Cocoon.” Was challenging. Our guide was late and it was stressful. Several of the other GoGoToday guides were rude and only one of about ten was helpful. Communication about the guide being late was not provided through the Viator app or email/text from GoGoToday. It was stressful to think we missed out tour when we arrived 20 minutes early and had to ask every single guide for help. Also, worth noting, there is no lunch stop (food is limitedly available at stands near the sights). Do consider bringing snacks to eat (food and beverages are not allowed on the bus). This would have been five stars except for the stressful and rude start.
Great tour, well organized, plenty of time at each location. You don't feel rushed and have time to enjoy some beautiful scenery and great history.
The guide was nice but gave us very little historic explanation about the temple. We had to visit the temple entirely by ourselves.
What a fantastic experience! Enjoyed every minute of it. Lee our tour guide was patient and shared a lot of insights and hot tips!
It was an enjoyable tour.Lyn was the nicest and most patient tour coordinator. I got lost meeting them but still waited for me. The Toshogu shrine was magnificent. So are the waterfalls and lake. Could have stayed longer in the lake area but it was just too cold. I give Lyn and the tour 5 stars.
I had a great day, the temples were incredible, the place was magnificent, and a big thank you to this guide who helped us so well today, taught us about the place, and was super friendly. I recommend her, she was really great
Excellent experience! Yuma, our guide, was very friendly, precise, and provided us with all the details we needed and some news. The places to visit are worth it and enough time is given to be able to visit everything. The only note I have is that the multiple reminders about the meeting times to arrive on time each time, even though we always arrived right on time or early, are quite pushy.
Travel by bus comfortable and fast. For the excursions on site each of us chose what to see, the guide gave us the main information on how to move. Organizing it yourself would have been much more complicated
