We spent 3 hours with lovely svetlana! She was well informed, kind and very nice guide! She took us in Sakuda, proved knowledge regarding Shinto, Buddhism, local culture and it was very noticeable that she wants us to have the best time (she gave a lot of personal recommendations and showed us cool local shops and places which we would not arrive to without her) Highly recommended, great value for money!

Itinerary
This tour begins at Kaminarimon, a must-see landmark and popular starting point for exploring Asakusa. The massive red lantern hanging at the gate is a favorite photo spot among travelers. Passing through the gate, you'll enter the lively Nakamise Shopping Street, where you can enjoy traditional Japanese sweets and souvenirs. Guarded by statues of the gods of wind and thunder, this iconic gate offers a perfect opportunity to experience Japanese culture while strolling through a historic area.
Nakamise Shopping Street is a historic arcade leading to Senso-ji Temple, lined with around 90 shops offering colorful Japanese sweets, traditional crafts, and kimono accessories. With its Edo-period atmosphere, it's a great place to soak in Japan's traditional charm while browsing. If any shops catch your eye, feel free to return after the tour and explore them at your own pace.
Senso-ji is Tokyo’s oldest temple, founded in 628, and remains a powerful symbol of history and faith. With its majestic main hall and five-story pagoda, it offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese architecture. Visitors can experience temple customs firsthand—why not try drawing omikuji, Japanese fortune slips, or offering incense? Amid the lively atmosphere, it's also a peaceful place to pause and reflect.
Asakusa Shrine, located right next to Senso-ji Temple, is a historic Shinto shrine also known as “Sanja-sama.” With its iconic red torii gate and serene atmosphere, it offers a peaceful contrast to the bustling temple nearby. During the tour, you’ll learn about the differences between Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, as well as proper etiquette for visiting each. It’s a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of Japanese religious culture.
Hoppy Street is a nostalgic drinking alley in Asakusa that retains the atmosphere of postwar Japan. Lined with red lanterns and cozy local izakayas, the area is lively even during the day. Visitors can enjoy affordable Japanese comfort foods like grilled pork skewers and stewed dishes. It’s a popular spot for those looking to experience Tokyo’s local nightlife and old-town charm.
Kappabashi street is a historic shopping street with over 100 years of history, known as a “mecca for chefs.” It’s lined with specialty shops offering everything from professional-grade cookware and tableware to Japan’s famous plastic food samples. On this tour, we’ll also stop by shops where you can find traditional Japanese tableware, lacquerware, kitchen knives, and even dagashi—nostalgic Japanese snacks that are part of Japan’s food culture. Located within walking distance of Senso-ji, this is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience for food lovers.
On the way from Kappabashi to Ueno, we’ll stop by Akiba Shrine, said to be the origin of the name Akihabara. This small but historically significant shrine is known for bringing good luck in business prosperity and warding off misfortune.
Our guide will explain the history and highlights of Ueno Park. You'll also receive recommendations for spots you can enjoy on your own after the tour.
Why not experience the lively local atmosphere of Ameyoko, a bustling street lined with izakayas and food stalls? We’ll introduce you to local street food spots and souvenir shops along the way. The tour ends here, so you’re free to continue exploring Ameyoko at your own pace if you wish.

Fantastic tour. Learned lots & did some great shopping. Highly recommend
Our guide Noguchi was absolutely wonderful. It was a very rainy day and we had 3 children in tow. He showed us much kindness staying patient with the kids and allowing multiple extra stops. The mix of history and shopping along the way was great. I would highly recommend this trip.
Really good guy fun experience... Highly recommended
Great walking tour and informative from Mr. Yushi.
Everything was fine. Very Interesting and i would recommend.
I had a wonderful morning with Naoko! She made sure to be easy to find, explained the history and culture well - especially to at the local temples. She also made a point to adjust to my specific interests without me asking. I could not have had a better first day in Tokyo!
Good to know the history of Asakusa
Macky's guidance was great in terms of general info and local insights.
Yuma was a great tour guide. Kind and easy to talk to. I really enjoyed learning about Sensoji and exploring Ueno Park which is beautiful. It is a walking tour, so be prepared to walk a lot. It’s a lot of slower walking, with a longer stretch from Kappabashi to Ueno.
We had a fantastic time with Karin on our first day in Tokyo. She had so much to share but never rushed us. Also got great tips for other things to see during our stay in Japan. The overall experience was fantastic! 10/10 would recommend for teens and older.
Kanada was very nice, informative, and his English was very good! I highly recommend this tour !!!!!
This was an awesome tour, and Yoshi was an excellent guide! Highly recommended.
I had a great time with Macky san! He’s very knowledgeable about all the myths, history and customs and the temple. He also was very good with adapting the tour for the San Ju Matsuri festival that was happening at the same time as our tour

Yoshiko was a great tour guide. Super knowledgeable and kept us all together in a very crowded time. I loved this experience. Highly recommend.
It was such a magical tour, it was just me and my tour guide Miyuki. It was snowing for the first time in years in Tokyo so for me, it was truly special. Miyuki is a great guide, it felt like being with a friend and walking around! Would highly recommend this tour especially if it's your first day so you get to learn about the history of the Asakusa and other nearby districts.
Very nice walk around ueno area with Ayuko. Thanks! Everyday life explained and nice shops outside normal tourist paths
I went there with my friends and had so fun. If I have time I would like to go there again because it was really a good experience for me.
Shun was a really nice and awesome guide. He showed me around Asakusa which is a traditional Japanese place in Tokyo. The tour was very wonderful, we went to Sensoji temple and around the traditional and local shops nearby (100% recommend visiting). We finally ate at a Japanese seafood restaurant close by.
We really enjoyed the experience with our tour guide Ryoko. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was a pleasant and nice experience.
Thanks to our guide, we were able to have a history lesson related to the place we visited. We were able to see lots of beautiful, interesting things accompanied by a kind and fascinating person.
Very interesting tour. Tamari knew how to adapt the tour according to our wishes. I highly recommend
We booked a tour in Spanish and were assigned a guide who only spoke English. My mom could not enjoy the tour well since she does not speak English.
