Perfect experience. Only our second day in Japan. It was 2 hours long so it was enough time to get information and walk around. The group was a reasonable size so we could have conversations with Grant ( the guide ) whenever we wanted. Grant was great , he was extremely knowledgable and had personal interest in the topics he was showing us, and also made them relevant and understandable to everyone. Would definitely do a tour again. Having done a lot of tours around the world, this is definitely one of my favourites. Highly recommend.

I LOVED our guide, Grant. He was so knowledgeable, interesting and nice. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in Japanese culture and religion. What an enjoyable morning!
I had a wonderful walking tour of Sensō-ji with Erik. I lucked out and had a private tour since I was the only one who booked the slot. He was incredibly knowledgeable, first teaching me about the origins of Asakusa away from the main crowds, before guiding me right into the bustling energy of the main temple area. He was really friendly, easy to talk to, and happy to answer all my questions. A real highlight was learning the proper purification water ritual and the differences between Buddhist and Shinto prayer practices. Highly recommend!
Great way to get a feel for the culture and history of the area. Our guide was Norwegian, but married to a Japanese lady so had a great understanding of the country, the language and culture with a good appreciation of what visitors would find interesting. He was v knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He also gave us some great top tips on where to get the best Okonomyaki to eat
Our guide was Grant and he was outstanding. Grant is very knowledgeable about Japanese history and wonderfully brought it to life as we walked around the temple and shrines in Asakusa. Beyond that, as a tour guide Grant was very friendly and interested in and attuned to the our interests and needs. We highly recommend this tour to those wanting to get a sense of religion in Japan both historic and in the present day.
Excellent tour of Asakusa. We went to all the shrines, temples and enjoyed the street food aswell. Well worth the experience and it was such a amazing day. Can't recommend it enough.
Our walking tour with Sunrise Adventure completely exceeded every expectation. Our guide, Grant, was remarkably knowledgeable about Japanese history and culture, bringing every stop to life with fascinating insights and stories. Traveling with two teenagers can often be a challenge when it comes to keeping them engaged, but Grant handled it effortlessly. He knew exactly how to connect with them, sparked their curiosity from the very beginning, and kept them actively involved throughout the entire day. If you are visiting Tokyo—we cannot recommend Sunrise Adventure and Grant highly enough. It was easily one of the highlights of our trip! Thanks
We had an amazing time with Grant. Great tour, kind and with an amazing knowledge of Japanese culture and traditions.
We did this walking tour on our first morning in Tokyo. Our guide, Yu, gave us an excellent introduction to Japanese temple customs and history. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Excellent tour with Grant! Thank you!
Erik was a fantastic guide. He is so passionate about Tokyo, the little details and the history- he’s great fun to listen to. We learned a lot and had a great time walking round Asakusa with Erik.
Erik was a fantastic guide. He gave us so much information about Japan and the temples. He has a passion for Japan that comes through. He had an assistant today who was learning the tour who added more to the tour. It was worth every penny.
This was a 10/10 experience! The tour guide was actually the Owner of the company. He gave me a great history of Tokyo, Edo, Buddhism and Shintoism! I really loved this tour! Make sure to bring coins for Temple offerings and cash for lucky tokens if needed. Also - my original guide was delayed due to an accident and the owner quickly stepped in and gave a top notch tour last minute. I very much appreciated the quick resolution.
We had a fantastic experience visiting Senso-ji Temple with a local guide today. It ended up feeling like a private tour since it was just the two of us, which made it extra special. Our guide, Yu, was wonderful—friendly, knowledgeable, and very engaging. She shared not only insights about the temple and Japanese religion, but also a lot about Tokyo’s history and culture—far beyond what we expected from the tour description. It was informative, personal, and really added depth to our visit. Highly recommended if you want more than just sightseeing and actually understand what you’re seeing.
Very enjoyable experience, Yu was very knowledgeable and helpful
My wife and I had a great time with Erik touring the Asakusa area. We had great photo opportunities and Erik gave us a memorable tour where we learned a lot! Would recommend
If you’re lucky enough to get Kaho as your guide in Tokyo—congratulations, you’ve basically won the travel lottery. My 14-year-old son and I spent four absolutely wonderful hours with her, and somehow she managed to keep both a teenager and his parent equally entertained (which might be her greatest achievement of all). We wandered through the vibrant markets of Ueno and Asakusa, explored beautiful temples, and even tried our luck with fortune telling—which, according to mine, I should probably book another tour with Kaho. She knows Tokyo like the back of her hand and shares her knowledge in such a fun, natural, and engaging way. It never felt like a “tour”—more like being shown around by a friend who just happens to know everything about the city. What really stood out was how she helped us experience Tokyo beyond the typical tourist path. We genuinely felt like we were getting a glimpse of local life, discovering places and stories we would have completely missed on our own. Kaho is warm, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and just a joy to spend time with. Honestly, we saw more, learned more, and laughed more in those four hours than we expected. Highly, highly recommended!
Was very happy moment with Erik tour guide
We enjoyed the tour with Erik very much and learnt a lot about Japanese culture, history, food and language. Erik was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. He also showed us the best spots to take photos. We warmly recommend the tour to any first-time visitors to Japan who wish for an introduction to Japanese Buddhist temples and Shinto Shrines.
The experience with Yu was amazing! We learn a lot with her. She is very kind and the tour was really good!
Yu was great, shared her knowledge of history and made it very interesting and was very personable. Highly recommend her!!
Erik was an excellent guide. He seemed knowledgeable about the temples and answered all the questions I had. I don't normally go for these types or tours but I was happy I did this one. It was nice to get a private tour by accident on a Saturday morning, since everywhere we went the crowd was enlarging behind us. Thank you again Erik for the great experience and introduction to the area for further exploration.
Yu was a wonderful guide. She provided a lot of history and pointed out many things we may have missed on our own. We highly recommend Yu and this tour.
It was a great experience, our guide was good explaining and were knowledgeable. I really recommend this to anyone interested in history.
A good way to learn about the history of the shrine in a small group and local guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was extremely hot at this time of year so would recommend plenty of shade and drinks! Guide was very accommodating and caring, highlight was the future scroll!!
Had my tour with Mika and she was amazing. Gave us a nice deep runthrough on the history of the sites, and was overall great.
Our tour of the temple with Eric was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend having a guide so that you understand the significance of what you are seeing. Eric led us through the history and rituals and even gave an overview of what the shops had to offer.
I book this trip cuz a solo trip can be boring. However, the trip is absolutely beyond my expectations. The length of visit is 2hr. Since it’s quite private so it allows me to complete the journey at a cozy pace. I really enjoy the time spent with my guide Erik. He is a patient and talkative man with in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture. He as a photographer, recommended some amazing places for taking photos.(He’s good at photography fr) The fee is reasonable.
Our guide, Mika, was amazing! We learned so much and had a great time. We're so happy we picked this for our first activity in Japan. ❤️
Excellent tour led by Tanjim who provide us with the history and local culture of the places we visited. I would recommend this tour
Samira was our tour guide for the Tokyo Asakusa Temple and Shrine walking tour. She was amazing informative and fun. She even took us to a park and playground that was not on the walk. Felt like being with a friend. Recommend Samira 10/10!
I had a great time touring Asakusa with Leno! A couple people weren’t able to join, so I ended up having a private tour and Leno was such a friendly and delightful guide. We started at the river and she kept us from the throngs of people at Asakusa by showing me places of significance that were off the beaten path. I highly recommend Leno and the Sunrise Tours!
Erik was great and explained everything and knew so much. It was lots of fun. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t miss it. Looking at more tours to take with this company.
The tour is really interesting and gives you a proper understanding of the structure of the Imperial Palace. Lakki is a wonderful guide! Really engaging and funny. I really enjoyed this tour and I recommend it!!
We visited the Sensoji Temple and nearby area with our tour guide, Samira. She was informative, considerate and friendly towards us. There was an opportunity to take photos almost everywhere. We learned a lot about Japanese culture and the district itself. If you have time and thinking about booking , it’s definitely worth a visit!
Great tour with Samira. Very informative with lots of interesting stories and local knowledge about Asakusa, which is a must see area of Tokyo.
We visited Senso-ji Temple with Lino. She was very sweet, kind, and willing to respect our time for visits, photos, and breaks. She explained everything about the temple and the religions! Thank you, Lino!! 💜
We had an amazing experience on our Asakusa walking tour! 🍀 We were lucky to be the only participants, so it felt like a private tour. Our guide, Lino, was absolutely wonderful — friendly, confident, and spoke perfect English. Even though she’s still very young, she did a fantastic job guiding us through the Senso-ji Temple and the surrounding area. Her explanations were clear, interesting, and easy to follow, and she made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. It honestly felt more like exploring with a local friend than being on a typical guided tour. Thank you so much, Lino, for making this one of our highlights in Tokyo!
Shin was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The gardens were beautiful even though nothing was in bloom.
Nana was our tour guide and she was wonderful! So patient with our two children- ages 8 & 5, she answered all their questions and explained in ways they understood. She was very informative and often stopped to take group pictures.
Nana was amazing. She was very patient with our children. And she had lots of information about each shrine. She helped us learn how to pray and show respect. Nana was the best.
Great tour with our guide Mari. Mari took us to different places had a lot of knowledge and soon became a “member” of our group. Thank you Mari. Kunnskap om historie og annet i Tokyo, Mari passet godt inn i vår gruppe med varierende alder på seks, så praten gikk lett. Veldig hyggelig 😀
Lino was our tour guide and what a delightful young lady. She was easy to talk to and joyful. We enjoyed our tour very much.
Samira was an excellent guide for us. Since my wife and I were the only tourist in the group we also hadthe opportunity to influnce the speed and to ask a lot of questions which Samira salways were able to give an asnswere to. This is our first visit toJapan and we were lucky to get Samira telling us all the secrets about Asakusa and the Japanese religions
It was an excellent start on to our stay in Tokyo and we couldn't have gotten a better guide then Mari. She helped us with a lot of pratical questions we had.
We were guided by Tanjim today and it was a great experience. I found it really informative and learnt so much over the 2 hours we were together. Thanks Tanjim.
Interesting tour with Samira who gave us fascinating insights into local history and culture, helped us buy delicious food from the markets and even gave us handy tips for shopping. Thank you Samira!
Such a great way to start our Japan adventure! The tour gave us a great experience of the Asakusa temples, and we were taught of rituals, history, and the mythology throughout our time. It felt neither too long nor too short, and we didn’t feel like we missed out on anything. On top of it our guide, Nicolas, was amazing! He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he took time to answer our questions and made sure that we avoided the most crowded areas so we instead could get a more comfortable experience. Thank you so much! Would highly recommend this for everyone who wants to experience Asakusa :)
This was by far my favorite experience in Tokyo. Nikolai was very friendly and fun to hang out with, and he provided us with so much history and fun facts. He showed us all the main landmarks, plus some bonus, lesser known locations for a bit of quiet. It all made for an unforgettable experience.
Great tour with Joe! You can see that he knows lots about the quartier and loves the culture. The way he talks makes the stories more interesting. And by policy of the company, they do only small groups giving the tour a private atmosphere. We recommend it!
