Our tour with Massachusetts was super cool! We had basically no expectations but it was an absolute blast of an evening and perfect for pre-gaming whilst even learning something about the area and habits. Massachusetts showed us 3 absolute gems, food was great and we left slightly tipsy. All in all perfect!

Itinerary
Just minutes from one of the busiest intersections in the world, Udagawacho sits on a quiet plateau where the developers never quite arrived. Independent coffee shops, natural wine bars, and decades-old record stores line streets that feel nothing like the Shibuya most visitors see. This is where locals actually spend their evenings — and where your night begins, with a seat at one of the neighborhood's most beloved izakayas.
A pedestrian street that has reinvented itself every decade since the postwar years — from black market stalls to teen fashion mecca to the buzzing dining and nightlife strip it is today. Your guide walks you through the history as you move deeper into the crowd, before settling in at a lively local izakaya that captures everything Shibuya is known for.
Up to 3,000 people cross from every direction at once — and somehow, it works. Your guide explains how this intersection became a global symbol of Tokyo, and what's changed in the neighborhood towering above it. The perfect place to pause, look up, and take it all in — before disappearing down a side street to a hidden sake bar that most visitors walk right past.
The bronze statue of a dog who waited nearly a decade for an owner who never came home. Hachiko became a national symbol of loyalty — and the most recognizable meeting point in Tokyo. Your guide shares the story behind the statue before leading you into the city's most iconic neighborhood.

Fantastic and fun experience, would highly recommend!
Fabulous in every way..tour guide amazing
Arigato Yuki ! We had a wonderful evening exploring Shibuya with Yuki! So knowledgeable & super friendly Yuki’s advice & travel tips were excellent! Dom arigato gozaimasu!! Kylie & Matt , Australia
The guide requested another 6000 yen for food. Said it was in the disclosures for the event. This is the first time I have had an issue with a Viator excursion but Viator appears to be just a third party. There seems to be no recourse from rogue operators. It was an enjoyable evening but I just don't like being taken advantage of.
Very informative and friendly guide, his English was very proficient and fun to hang our with it.
The izakaya tour was such a fun way to experience a part of Tokyo I was too nervous to explore on my own. Lam was a fantastic host - knowledgeable, articulate, friendly and fun. We went to places like a very cool sake bar that I wouldn't have even known existed.. Thank you very much!
Great locations with an amazing guide!
Yosh did an amazing job showing us around Shibuya. We had a blast and made new friends with our group. The food and drinks were fantastic. If you’re in the mood for a fun experience with a local, book this tour!
Now was great! Great tour guide and had a binder with pictures to explain everything. Promote the guy! He deserves it! Went above and beyond!
Yuki and Marina were an amazing tour guide pair that gave us an unforgettable experience in Shibuya. The admission fee was the price of the tour along with the drink cost. This was a very fun 4 hour tour that Yuki slightly altered for my personal tastes that gave me a brand new experience in Japan I would have not had otherwise. The atmosphere of the places Yuki and Marina chose for our tour gave me a new outlook on Shibuya I would have never experienced without them. We had 4 other tour members for our crowd size that they were easy to accommodate for. This tour is best for people willing to try new things, experience a different side of Shibuya they would have never experienced and be welcomed by some amazing tour guides. I will forever remember Yuki and Marina helping me on this tour show me new things I would have never experienced before. I love learning new things and they assisted me greatly on this trip.
Thoroughly enjoyed the izakayas and the tour guide was warm, friendly and fun
It was a very fun time with our guide Yosh and the group. Yosh is a great host and very interested in pleasing the groups expectations.
It was great fun. Learn lots about izakaya culture and the variety of foods available. A bonus also learned about combini stores and their amazing choice of unique foods and drinks. Nao was a great tour guide, every place we went the food was amazing and promptly ready.
We loved our tour with Tadeshi and Massa. Great personable guides that really told us about the area, took us to local spots that took the pressure off ordering and payment. We enjoyed the food, drinks, and the company. Really friendly guides. It made for a wonderful night out in Shibuya.
Meg was a delight with her knowledge of the local area and culture. The bars were fun and the food delicious,
Our guide was such a kind and welcoming person. He knew so much about the area what was good at each venue. Would highly recommend.
I am loathe to leave a bad review, but this tour was disappointing. Much of it had to do with the guide. I do not feel he explained the Restaurant types or food types at each venue very well (except for the sake restaurant) he was more of a quiet escort and not a guide in that you had to ask him specific questions to get information. Most alarming, was that the second venue. We had already had a wonderful sashimi meal at the first venue. At the second venue which was serving meat sticks, he actually asked if we still wanted any food having eaten at the first venue. Most of us were surprised by this question, as we were on a food tour. There were five tourists and the guide and the restaurant only brought five meat sticks for the group. Two were chicken and the other three were some other type. When several of us pointed out that they should be bringing at least five of each type for the group, he made no effort to obtain them. All of us thought it was very odd that we had to split two sticks and three sticks among five guests. On the numerous other food tours we have been on, every guest had one of each item. At the first event, we had all paid him in cash for all the food that was going to be provided throughout the tour. I and several others thought he might have simply wanted to pocket the money we had already paid him for the entire food tour from the decreased total bill at this second restaurant. I would suggest that the guide be more engaging and spontaneously offer more cultural information about the restaurants and the food.
Had a fantastic time even though it was just myself and the tour guide. Great experience with amazing food. Highly recommend
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A magical Shibuya experience with Akira & MagicalTrip! We had such a fantastic time exploring Shibuya on our MagicalTrip drinks tour with Akira — this was genuinely one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo. He’s a great guy and an exceptional guide: warm, engaging, knowledgeable and full of local insights that we simply wouldn’t have discovered on our own. It was the thoughtful little touches that made the experience particularly memorable. Akira started us off with a turmeric drink to help ward off the next-day hangover (very much appreciated! 😂), shared so much local knowledge throughout the evening, and even gave us beautiful origami gifts to take home as a keepsake. We loved experiencing Shibuya through the eyes of a local rather than just visiting the usual tourist spots, and finishing the night at a local sake bar was absolutely perfect. 🍶 Akira made the whole MagicalTrip drinks tour experience feel relaxed, personal and genuinely fun. Great guy, great guide and a truly magical night in Shibuya. We couldn’t recommend Akira and MagicalTrip tours highly enough — if you’re visiting Tokyo and want to experience a different side of Shibuya, definitely book this tour! 🇯🇵❤️
Yuki was a great guide and made it a memorable experience! All the locations were superb!
Loved the tour and the guide was awesome The restaurants each had an unique vibe. Even on a rainy day it was fun
Meg was a really great guide. We stopped at some delicious food spots. Was a fun tour and a great night overall.
Great restaurant picks. Really got a feel for the area. Tour guide was top notch!
We had so much fun and they were so considerate of me being a vegetarian. Also got to shop for the delicious peach wine we had during dinner. We didn't feel rushed and felt like we made a new friend!
This was a Magical introduction to Shibuya. Our guide, Megumi, was informative, helpful, great fun and made sure we didn't get lost on a busy Saturday night. The menu options for the included food and drinks ensured everyone was well catered for in the different venues that locals visit.
Shibuya has a lot going on, and this was without question the best way to experience it in one night. Hy, our guide, really knew his stuff. He took us to some amazing places that we never would have known about. I cannot over-emphasize what a knowledge person he was to have at our disposal. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to see sneaky-great parts of Shibuya that have really great, fun energy and are also free of tourists.
Tadashi was great, would recommend him as a guide.
I had an amazing time! I love Magical Trip. This was my 4th tour with them. I love how organized they are and how great the guides are! I happened to be the only person who signed up for the tour and my guide Karen was incredible ! Even though it was just the two of us we had a great night. It felt like going out for drinks with a friend I’ve known forever. You get plenty of food and drinks throughout the night. Come hungry! No additional cash needed. Just book the tour and show up! Let Magical Trip handle the rest!
I really enjoyed my tour with Yoichi! We tried out two places with fantastic food and drink and finished off at a karaoke bar. Yoochi was really friendly and upbeat (and very good at karaoke) and the other guests were very nice.
Naoki was excellent! Super friendly and we loved getting to see Izakayas we normally would have missed on our own. Every place had its own charm and great food. Thanks Naoki for making our first night in Tokyo a super fun one!
Sou was the best guide we could ask for. He was so fun, kind, and knowledgeable. It was amazing to get together with a group and just drink & eat & laugh together & explore shibuya. This was absolutely a great way to start a trip, because it was helps you get used to the environment in an easy and enjoyable way.
What an amazing night we had! Yoichi was a fantastic host and took us to great restaurants. The food was great, conversation excellent, and time spent at each of the spots perfect. Would highly recommend the tour to get an insight into the food and beverages of Tokyo. Well done!
Great time!!! Easy to meet up. Soe took us to bars/restaurants we would have never of found on our own. Lots is food, and a wide variety of drinks. Worth every penny. Highly recommend
Yuki was fantastic. It was just the 3 of us and Yuki so it turned into a private tour. He was very in tune with our interests, made spontaneous adjustments to show us places in Shinjuku which weren't part of the original schedule, and was very engaging throughout. The tour is a great way to experience some restaurants the average tourist would never make it to.
What a fabulous evening having drinks and tasty treats with Yuki around Shibuya! Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Karen is excellent and very entertaining. Good food and great drink selections. I just want to suggest that the tour guide should be holding a stick in the meeting place so he/she can be seen easily in a crowded place like Shibuya.
I’ve been to Japan twice now, once in October 2023 solo, and now in April 2026 with two friends. The first time I did the tour, the tour leader was Cammy, and it was myself and a lovely couple from Maryland on a Monday night. By the end of the tour, we were all comfortable with each other and singing karaoke together! The second time, I convinced my two friends plus another girl we befriended at our hostel to take part in this tour. Kenta was our guide, and we were joined by two solo travellers. It’s one of the hardest times I’ve laughed in my life, and I’m sure the rest of the group could say the same. The tour operates the same way, but the locations tend to be mixed up. In 2023, our first stop was a spot within a larger food court with lots of options for food and included drinks (and every menu at each spot has Japanese options, western options, and some foods western tourists might consider “exotic” like horse sashimi or raw beef to try). The second stop was dumplings, and the third was a karaoke bar. This year (04/26), our first stop had us making takoyaki with unlimited drinks, while eating Kushikatsu. Our second stop had the choice of beef or sushi (both spots had a side pairing included- the fried chicken was so good), and the third was a dagashi bar with all you could eat snacks (think chips and candy). Both tours were fantastic, and there’s plenty of chances to eat (and drink!) to make the most of it. Admittedly, I was quick to get tipsy on both tours, but the guides are chatty and friendly and make efforts to talk with everyone. Even if you’re not a drinker, the nature of this tour takes the edge off of meeting and then going out with strangers. I was so happy to hear from my friends at the end of the night that they had a blast as they were unsure before about joining other travellers- but if you’re willing to go out and have a good time (even if you’re not the most extroverted), you’ll have a blast! Highly recommended :) (PS the guides take lots of photos so be sure to take advantage and download those later)! My only critique is the meeting point is a bit hard to find as the guides don’t always carry tour flags. But if you can find other tour participants and stay in one place, it helps. Either way, the guide makes the effort to find you as they have their manifest for the night of who is going.
Anne was subarashi! Great tour. Saw places we never would have without her. Tried new foods and drinks. Sang karaoke. Fun night. Arigato gozaimas!
Great evening exploring areas we would never have known about or found ourselves! Would recommend to anyone looking for hidden gems
This tour showed the different sides of the Shibuya district. Food was traditional Japanese along with the beer & sake.
Anne was the best tour guide! Definitely recommend asking for her!
Tadashi showed us a fun side of Tokyo that we never would have found on our own.
Our experience with Yuki was amazing! We had a great time, had good drinks and food, and learned a lot!
Now was a fantastic Guide. He was a wealth of knowledge, friendly and a pleasure to be with. He offered a lot of great recommendations for around the area. Would definitely recommend this tour. My only feedback was that the 1st stop felt a bit rushed since the location was busy.
A great evening spent with Karen. Very knowledgeable, good fun and took me to some really cool places I’d never of found on my own
We had an amazing experience on our Tokyo club excursion with Meg! She showed us 3 different types of bars and we got to explore the nightlife of Shibuya. It was so much fun!! We loved this adventure and getting to learn more about Japan’s people and culture.
This is the second time I’ve gone on this tour and both experiences were really great. Mushi was a great guy and we got to have a lot of interesting drinks and food.
Naoki was really good prepared and the spots we visited where really nice. overall great experience.
We had such a great time on the Shibuya Scramble Food and Bar Tour! It was so much fun from start to finish. The food was amazing and the drinks were free-flowing, which made for a really relaxed and enjoyable evening. The places we visited were fantastic and definitely not spots we would have found on our own, which made the experience feel really special and authentic. It was also a lovely group of people, and the atmosphere was friendly and easygoing the whole night. My son and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo!
