What a fabulous experience? First, Yuko was extremely flexible; we had some issues with our return flight (due to poor planning on my part), and she offered to start early to give us more time. Then when we arrived, she showed us pictures of what we would make, and I laughed out loud, because I have zero skill in making things pretty. But in the end we all made delicious sweets that actually did look remarkably like the examples! But what I appreciated the most was Yuko; she was kind to bring us into her home, and she explained things well and adjusted to the very different skill levels we had at the table. I would very happily go back.

We visited this workshop with a friend, just the two of us, and had such a great time! Making Japanese sweets turned out to be much easier than we expected, and it was really fun to create something that looks like a little masterpiece. Yuko prepared everything in advance, so the whole process felt clean, simple, and very relaxing. We just followed her instructions and enjoyed every step. At the end, we had matcha tea and ate the sweets we made, which was a lovely way to finish the experience. The view from the window was also beautiful — a river with blooming sakura, which made it even more special. This was one of the most pleasant experiences of our trip. Thank you so much for such a wonderful time!
Amazing experience with Yuko-san, so wonderful to make all of the different types of mochi and can’t believe how amazing they turned out!
A great homely experience in the traditional style. We loved every bit of it! Highly recommend for families to sit down with Yuko and enjoy the view while engaging in the experience!
I had the loveliest time attending this class. Miss Yuko was incredibly attentive, and the way she performed every step of the mochi-making process with such grace, ease, and precision, was absolutely mesmerizing. It truly felt like watching edible works of art come to life. I was accompanied by my mom, who was initially a bit reluctant to participate, but she ended up enjoying the class so much. She became fully engaged, keenly taking notes and gathering tips to recreate the recipe once we return home. The class was held in a cozy, inviting room with a gorgeous view from the window. There was such warmth, care, and attention in every detail that it felt as though we had known Miss Yuko for years. We also learned fascinating history about Wagashi and its importance in various Japanese celebrations, which made the experience even more meaningful. I wholeheartedly recommend booking this activity for a memorable, enriching experience and, of course, for the little heavenly bites you get to enjoy along the way.
Mochi making with Yuko was one of the highlights of our anniversary trip to Japan! She was kind, patient, and was able to give us some wonderful knowledge about the history of mochi and successfully helped us craft multiple beautiful and delicious desserts. The match and snack at the ned was such a lovely way to close a thoroughly enjoyable two hours. She welcome us into her home and we are so appreciative of the experience!
I could not rate this class highly enough! Yuko was a wonderful and patient teacher. She was easy to engage with and you got to create so many unique creative designs!! I had so much fun! I would encourage anyone looking for a mochi and wagashi workshop to book it! It was great to participate as a solo traveller and quite an intimate space!
Our experience with Yuko’s watch class was outstanding. Yuko was in contact with us early on to make sure that we knew how to get to her class. She greeted us at the door and treated us like family in her amazing kitchen and dining room. My daughter and I loved her class and learned so much. She explained the history of making Japanese sweets before starting the process with us. We made so many sweets. Yuko made things so straightforward and easy. Yuko prepared so well for the class that we were able to participate in the fun and instructive parts without wasting any time. We made so many beautiful sweets such as a sunflower-shaped aweet l and watermelon and pineapple mochi. Yuko is an amazing maker of wagazhi, and her refrigerator is full of her beautiful creations. The class was easy to find on public transportation, too. If you are looking for something fun and meaningful and authentically Japanese to do when you are traveling to Tokyo, go to this class.
Wow—this was truly one of the most special experiences our family could have hoped for! Words can hardly capture the warmth, care, and attention to detail that Yuko brought to every moment of our time with her. Her hospitality went above and beyond, turning this session into an unforgettable memory for our family of five. Our kids, absolutely loved it. Yuko guided them through each step with such patience and calmness, making everything easy to follow and full of joy. Her gentle encouragement and thoughtful instruction made a lasting impression. We created a wonderful variety of traditional Japanese desserts (Wagashi)—from the colorful Sanshoku Dango (three-colored dango) to Fruit Daifuku (fruit mochi), soft and chewy Warabi Mochi, and finally ended with a perfectly whisked cup of matcha tea. It far exceeded our expectations in every way. We are so grateful to Yuko for welcoming us into her home and kitchen, for sharing her knowledge and time, and for making us feel like part of her family. It truly felt like a home away from home—and a memory we’ll treasure forever!!
Yuko was a very talented teacher and she explained some of the history and traditions of mochi in Japan. Her cooking studio overlooks greenery which is very beautiful. We made many different types of mochi, nerikiri and dango. Yuko spoke English well enough that we could learn without being able to speak Japanese. She also served us macha tea and we had a little tea ceremony at the end.
My twelve year old daughter and I took this class and loved it. Yuko speaks very clear English and gave excellent instructions. Our finished product didn't look quite as good as hers, but we were still very proud of what we made! I think this activity is well worth the time. We'll be looking for the ingredients so we can make more at home.
My friends and I had SUCH a wonderful experience learning to make wagashi with Yuko in her lovely home! We learned how to make 4 types of nerikiri as well as sakuramochi while looking out at the beautiful cherry blossoms along the river. Yuko was a great and patient instructor who humored us even when we, as a group of artists, went a little off the rails from the traditional designs. We'd recommend this class to anyone visiting Tokyo!
This workshop was one of the highlights of our Japan trip because the experience felt so authentic. We learned a lot of interesting things about the culture, together with the recipes for traditional Japanese sweets. Yuko-san was a very professional teacher and a wonderful and warm hearted person Would definitely recommend the experience for everyone visiting Japan.
We had a great experience of making Mochi. This class is really great since it is just one table and the teacher, Yuko, who takes her time to explain you how to make Mochi and Wagashi. I really preferred this small atmosphere compared to other large classes where you can easily lack behind. Yuko also did a tea ceremony with us and explained us the ritual. Then, we took some pictures with our Mochi and Yuko. At the end, we got containers and packing provided for our Mochi so we could bring them back to our hotel. I definitely recommend this workshop for people who want to have a real Japanese experience.
Yuko is a very kind and welcoming host. She took a lot of time to show me different kinds of mochi making step by step which I could imitate resulting into my own delicious mochi's. Her explanations about the ingredients, japanese traditions related to mochi and the making process were very interesting. Yuko came up with some really cute seasonal Halloween and autumn designs as well as traditional and modern style mochi. As we actually cooked in her family's home, the whole atmosphere was uniquely authentic. After cooking, we drank some matcha tea together and tasted some mochi. They were excellent! All in all, I would strongly recommend this class to everyone who enjoys cooking/baking!
The woman conducting the class was so personable. We learned more than just how to make Mochi. Definitely worth the time.
I had a lovely time making these Japanese treats. There’s a few to make and many different skills to learn so it was fun and interesting. I felt very welcome and it was a 1:1 lesson. The location was easy to find and nearby the metro, I would totally recommend this as an interesting and authentic activity whilst visiting Japan! Thank you!! 😊
I had an excellent private class with Yuko-san. After an overview of traditional Japanese sweets, I have learned different techniques for some of them. This is a hands-on class where you get to do the sweets yourself while your instructor gives you constant feedback. This is not a generic nor group class, Yuko-san is very generous of her time and comments.
Yuko was so kind and patient with us, and a wonderful guide through the art and process of creating Mochi. Yuko is very informative on the techniques, but what adds to the experience are the conversations about the cultural connection of mochi to traditions. Add to this the beautiful surroundings of the home and vista, and it made for a very memorable experience. We highly recommend!
This was a very special unique experience. My family had a wonderful time, I highly recommend you do this.
I ABSOLUTELY loved this class! Yuko was my instructor and she was the most sweetest and patient person. I felt like I was at home learning to cook with my mom ♥️ She walks you through everything step by step and goes over the significance and history behind each dessert. Not to mention they were soooo good I wish I could’ve kept eating them. She sent me home with a take out tray of sweets and a goodie bag for keepsakes. We began the experience with some amazing tea and finished it off with some delicious matcha. I will most definitely return for another class when I visit Japan so if you are thinking about booking this activity BOOK IT!

Fantastique ! j’ai adoré. Yuko est une Japonaise très aimable et très douée pour nous expliquer l’art de faire différents mochis. J’ai été heureuse de faire l’expérience dans sa maison. J’ai appréciée la cérémonie du thé. Yuko is an excellent teacher to show us how to do different mochi. She is so nice and it was so pleasant to go to her place. I did appreciate the tea ceremony. 10/10.
