Andrew (Ryusei) was an excellent guide in every way. Well informed, outstanding English language fluency. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you!

Itinerary
First, we're going to visit Shinjuku 3-chrome, where you can experience Authentic local teppanyaki restaurants and you'll make your own "Okonomiyaki", and "Monja-yaki." Enjoy the delicious food and drinks while mingling with the friendly locals. This is a great way to discover the real old-town Tokyo nightlife.
Next, we're heading to Omoide Yokocho. This narrow alleyway is packed with over 60 tiny bars and restaurants, serving delicious Yakitori, Motsuyaki, and other local specialties. You can enjoy the warm and friendly vibe of the place, chat with the locals, and taste a variety of drinks, from Sake and Shochu to beer and whiskey. This hidden gem will make your Tokyo trip unforgettable.
We visited a vibrant Japanese arcade where both kids and adults can have a blast! From playing Taiko Drum Master snapping fun photos in Purikura booths, racing in Mario Kart, to experiencing the thrill of Wangan car racing β it was the perfect place to enjoy Japanβs playful side together. (You get to chose one from the experiences above)
Shinjuku Golden Gai is a unique drinking district in Tokyoβs Shinjuku ward. It has over 200 tiny bars packed in narrow alleys, each with its own personality and theme. (only applicable when time permits)
After the arcade, we headed to a place where adults can enjoy Japanese sake tasting β with selections from different regions across Japan β while kids (and grown-ups too!) can have fun at the all-you-can-eat Japanese snack bar. Itβs a great spot where everyone, no matter the age, can enjoy something special.

The highlight of this food tour was the guide themselves! Taiyo was funny, kind and so knowledgeable! He joined in with us and really felt like a part of the group by the end of the tour! It was the perfect holiday memory and hopefully Tai also got a taste of some British culture while he was with us. We could not have been more pleased to be paired with such a great guide! Also the food was delicious and we loved the chance to taste different sakes!
The best thing about our experience was our tour guide, Lisa! She was warm, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable about Japan and its history and culture. We had many questions. She answered them all with interest and patience. We truly enjoyed our dinner with her and the food was also very good!
Momiji was a wonderful, friendly and chatty guide for 2 Aussies. Her English skills were 10/10. She took us to amazing places and helped us choosing traditional and yummy food.
Ryusei sato was great! Was patient with us, we had lots of laughs & the tour was at a very relaxed pace. Loved it
Great tour with an excellent host Ryuta Particularly enjoyed the first restaurant but all the venues were excellent
Maple did an amazing job of taking us to several hard-to-find and off-the-beaten-path restaurants that were amazing and provided great service. She provided local context and history as well as making us feel welcome and comfortable with all of the experience despite how new it was to us. A+++ would book again
This is certainly not a food tour! Be careful of the scam. They basically take you to only one restaurant (the other you have to pay extra for) where you get to cook an omelet and a cabbage dish in a sub-par tourist trap restaurant (not worth more than 4000 yen for 4 people). Our guide was very nice and friendly but this tour operator is false advertising this specific tour. SKIP!
Awesome tour. Our guide Maple was amazing, great local knowledge, helped us a lot with our Japanese, and she was super fun to hang out with. We ate at several places, my favourite was cooking our own okonomiyaki.
We traveled to Japan for a group tour and decided to arrive early to do a few things on our own. This food tour was one of the options we booked and were so glad we did. Food was great, dining establishments were fantastic and local information provided by Teru was terrific. This tour is more focused for families as Teru said he usually takes people to arcades between dining options, but instead we walked the area and he pointed out places of interest.
We enjoyed our time with Teru checking out a few local food establishments. Normally he takes families to arcades between but with our group we walked around the Shinjuku area to see the sights instead. Teru was terrific and I would recommend the tour if visiting the area.
FK was very knowledgeable, friendly, and fun!
We had the best evening with Zenji. We loved his company and enjoyed finding out about life in Japan and we liked sharing things about life and food in Australia. We learnt to cook okonomiyaki which we hope to make when we get home. Also we would never have found these eating spots without a local guide. Thanks Zenji, you were so easy to talk to and we loved having you as our guide.
Mao was the sweetest food tour guide we could have hoped for. She was so earnest and kind and we really do wish her the very best in life. My toddler was not behaving well but she did not hesitate to hold his hand and coax him along the tour. She was also very good with my ten year old. She made both of their faces light up whenever she interacted with them. She told us fun facts about Japan and Tokyo along the way. I think food tours are a great idea for people who are overwhelmed by Shinjuku, overwhelmed by being in a foreign country or overwhelmed by traveling with a toddler. In our case we were overwhelmed with all three. Some mistakes we made were bringing a stroller, bringing our shopping bags and not putting him in a diaper. We weren't prepared for how tight the stairs, passageways and bathrooms were. Mao was so sweet by trying to carry our things for us and asking restaurants to hold our belongings in the entryway. We had to cut the tour short because of our toddler but as we ended our night and parted ways with Mao we really were grateful for her time and earnestness. Thank you Mao for making things easy for us.
Sakura was so friendly, helpful and kind. She showed us lots and was very accommodating with us with our children. Highly recommend this tour
Atsuto was super friendly and knowledgeable, really enjoyed talking with him. Thank you for showing us places we would never have found ourselves. Including the photo booth π
An amazing tour - my teenagers thought it was one of the best experiences we had in Japan. Our tour guide Maho was excellent and tailored the tour perfectly for their interests. She was young and fun and got us to experience the fun (wacky) world of Japanese games arcades. All the food was delicious and the lolly cafe at the end was worth the sugar high!!!!
Our guide was Ikuto a young man but very enthusiastic. He was kind and respectful to all our needs. Showed good knowledge polite and respectful. Made our tour relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Our guide Yu lovely young lady who was very familiar with the area and took us to a number of places so that we could try traditional Japanese dishes and sake and desert, and also explained the different areas that we were walking through. We had a really good time thank you so much five stars
It was nice Tour, thanks to Naoki β€οΈ
This tour was the perfect way to explore Shinjuku. We visited places only locals know, tried awesome Japanese pancakes, yakitori, and even did sake tasting. Our guide Juri was incredible β her English was excellent and she explained so much about the culture and the area. We asked her everything and she always had an answer. Such a great introduction to Shinjuku! Ps loved the Whattsapp contact prior!
Our entire family - ages 6 to 46 - had an incredible night. We went to three delicious places we never would've found on our own, and Shuhei was a delight to hang out with for the evening. He expertly led us around, helped us find the food we wanted, and entertained the kids for hours while the adults enjoyed the great food and drink. Cannot say enough good things about this tour and about Shuhei specifically. If you're visiting Tokyo from afar, and enjoy food, this is a must do.
We had a really lovely Tour guided by Maho. The Food was truely tasty. Maho gave us the opportunity to get to know Tokio from a different perspective. She gave us a lot of insights in Tokios restaurants and also suggested some amazing places, which we will check off our list in the following days. Thank you, Maho! This was Tokio at its best.
Akira was great. Very knowledgeable and fun.
Yu was an incredible guide, she took us to some great spots that you wouldnβt normally find on your own. We loved the experience and couldnβt have been happier!
Yu was great!! Very informative and flexible to what our group needed. Highly recommend!!
Yu was our guide and she was fantastic.
Great tour. Our guide Maho was brilliant, excellent English and she was great with our kids. Also she was very accommodating with dietary requirements and fussy eating kids.
Our guide Shuhei was awesome! Very articulate punctual and full of information! The food was interesting, spots we would not have found. My only complaint having done other food tours in other cities is that there were only 3 stops. I would have preferred smaller bites and more locations.
This was definitely a great cultural experience with our 2 teen boys. We got to learn a bit more about what teens in Japan do, like photo booths and go to a dedicated βsnackβ restaurant. I do feel it was a bit expensive for only one meal being included and paying out of pocket for the rest.
Yu, was awesome! She was kind, patient, and fun! She took us to places that we never thought of experiencing. The places were interactive and delicious! My family of 5 including teenagers had a great and memorable time! I highly recommend Yu!
This tour was tailored beautifully for our family members taking us to some fabulous hidden restaurants and other very quirky experiences. We loved it. Thank you to Maho; an exceptional guide with a very warm and accommodating manner.
Shuhei was a fantastic tour guide. Our family of 6 had a wonderful time. We had a lot of fun, ate some great authentic food, and really enjoyed chatting with Shuhei about the local culture and customs. I highly recommend!
Lisa was a fantastic tour guide, our group was different ages and she made sure to make it an interesting and fun experience for everyone. Great food, wonderful conversation, we canβt recommend her enough.
Not sure what we expected with our food tour, but the whole family would admit that Lisa was fantastic! Personal, conversational, and made us very comfortable throughout our experience. We went to three different eateries, an arcade, and even a Photo Booth, which was great to capture the memory. One of our most picky eaters even discovered that she liked fried octopus ! Thanks Lisa
You need to book this tour! Took us to all local places that were packed with locals which was a testament to how good the food was and we would never have found on our own. Our guide Rimu was excellent, so friendly and knowledgeable - 10 out of 10!
Excellent host very informative and friendly. Text before we met up to ensure we knew where we were going. Went to 3 different places. 1st was for monjiyaki a Tokyo delicacy! Then for yakotori and then for sake. Excellent tour fully recommend!
This was a really good tour. Zenji was our guide and he was great! He took us to three different places, helped us order and try new things.
Yui-san was very nice and she took us to places that we would not have discovered by ourselves. Specially the visit to the "Japanese taverna" was really a surprise!
Such a fun experience for our family. Jam was kind and an amazing guide and kept my daughter entertained. We saw places we wouldnβt have found on our own.
Fun and educational plus great food, tips and sightseeing. Guide was super friendly and knowledgeable
We went with our two teenage boys and they liked the Okonyiyaki pancakes quite a bit. We then stopped at a sushi restaurant and a snack ar that had amazing vibes. In between Sato showed us the many sites around Shinjuku while telling us about the history. We saw golden gai and other spots but did not stop due to having underage teens.
Flexible and knowledgeable staff. Great for families looking to eat local authentic Japanese dishes. Our guide Yota was the best and helped us navigate an unusual occurrence like a pro.
Akira showed us around a lively Shinjuku on a Friday night and brought us to some local spots that we would have never found as a tourist. First stop was Okonomayaki and manja. Second was an izikaya located on the 5th floor with lots of items on sticks, third was a unique snack bar that was chosen for our teen. Akira was a great guide, friendly and enthusiastic. My teen mentioned that it felt more like hanging out with a friend and hitting up food spots vs an organized formal tour, so a definite endorsement from my teen!
We booked this private food tour for our family, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip to Japan. Akari was much more than a guide. From the moment we met, she made us feel welcome, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Traveling with three daughters can sometimes make group activities challenging, but Akari connected so naturally with all of us that it felt less like a tour and more like spending an evening with a friend. The food was delicious, the places she chose were authentic and interesting, and we learned so much about Tokyo, Japanese culture, and everyday life that we would never have discovered on our own. What made the experience truly special was the atmosphere she created warm, personal, and full of laughter. By the end of the evening, we felt as though we had been welcomed into a local familyβs world rather than simply guided through a neighborhood. If you are visiting Tokyo as a family and want something more meaningful than a typical sightseeing activity, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Thank you, Akari, for helping us create memories that we will carry home with us. We hope our paths cross again someday perhaps even in Bosnia and Herzegovina! Armina and family, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Kosuke was a wonderful guide. He was charming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed his company, very much. He was very responsive to our questions and participated in conversation which he used to adapt to whae he thought we'd like. He was correct each time. He had a blast on this tour.
Fun tour, was able to experience places we probably would otherwise would not gave. My son loved the AYCE snacks! Thanks, Souta!
Amazing time with Naiko! He made this trip unforgettable. Super friendly, energetic and fun!!! Would highly recommend
Fuma was very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent guide.
Ikuto was an awesome guide! He was a great communicator, was incredibly engaging and helpful, and was delightful to talk with. He answered all our questions about Japanese culture, and he was focused on ensuring we were comfortable and having a nice time. We really enjoyed trying typical Japanese dishes and visiting restaurants that we would never have found on our own. It was also really interesting to be in the Shinjuku district in the evening - lots of activity and sights
