Keep in mind you’re paying for dinner at one restaurant. After that you have to pay for eating at the other two places. Not very expensive but paying close to $200 for one restaurant is a bit much. Plus the guide was a bit awkward and since we were the only clients on the tour there was a lot of awkward silences throughout the tour.
Fuma was such a great companion to tell us about lifestyle and common foods in fun places Ginzo, Japan. The restaurant choices however were not that exciting. They also only cover the first restaurant out of the three.
This was brilliant. Yuki was great and communicated brilliantly beforehand where to meet up. He was brilliant throughout and his English was excellent. He was very friendly and personable. We visited 3 food places and he taught us about the food and meaning behind it all which was great to hear. Very enjoyable
Akari was an amazing tour guide- she is knowledgeable, personable, and fun. She took us to three cool places on the tour and was very outgoing and informative. We really appreciated the time and effort she gave us.
We had a great evening with Yosuke, he was extremely easy company & very knowledgeable. The tempura spot was our favourite!
Atsu our guide was terrific! Charming, knowledgeable and very attentive to our wishes. He guided us to three delicious restaurants filled with locals that we would have never found on our own. We would give him 6 stars out of 5 if we could!
Well worth doing our guide was awesome the food delicious the guide yoyo spoke English exceptionally well
We had such a great time with our very lovely and knowledgeable guide, getting to go places you wouldn’t have otherwise have know about.
This was a wonderful experience and Atsu made it so special for us, thank you, Atsu! We would highly recommend this, it is a great way to experience the local cuisine and have a little tour of the area as well, we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Best food tour and guide ever! Great way to see, experience and enjoy Tokyo for a family of three on a first-time trip
We had the absolute best time with Yosuke. Every tour is a little different, but ours started with making traditional okonomiyaki pancakes together, which was both delicious and a really fun hands-on experience. From there, Yosuke took us to a beautiful shrine where we participated in a prayer and learned so much about Japanese culture and traditions. We then enjoyed an incredible tempura meal at a local restaurant. The tour usually includes a sushi stop as well, but since I’m currently pregnant, Yosuke kindly adjusted the experience to suit our needs. Yosuke’s knowledge of Japan, from its history to its customs, is truly impressive. He and his business partners founded Goen Japan around the core value of goen, which means meaningful connection, and that intention comes through in everything they do. This wasn’t just a tour — it felt like a genuine cultural exchange. We were blown away by the quality and intimacy of this entirely private experience, especially at such a reasonable price. We highly recommend this tour, or any tour offered by Goen Japan, to anyone who wants to connect more deeply with Japanese culture during their visit.
Ken did a great job and showed us some wonderful places with wonderful food. It was a pleasure to meet him.
YoYo took us to a unique variety of spots that we would not have discovered on our own. We experienced local dishes and experienced what locals do after a day at the office. We highly recommend this tour for a fun evening!
Unique experience with immersive / local activities. The restaurants we stopped by were amazing! Along with cooking a traditional Japanese dish, the tour turned out to be one of the highlights of my stay in Japan! Definitely recommend to those who are looking for a local experience with the help of a English speaking tour guide!
The guide's explanation was very easy to understand. And we enjoyed a variety of cuisines and views.I would like to visit different countries again with a guide.
The views were incredible ! Everything tastes great ! I don’t know who the exact chef is but he did a phenomenal job and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything !
If you are bored one day and are looking for something to do I highly advise going on this tour! It was a fun time and my tour guide (Yosuke) was great! Highly recommend!
The food spots were great. Really felt like I was getting a true Japanese experience. Yosuke was very nice and had a contagious energy.
I truly appreciated our trip there. The buildings, the people, and the food were absolutely incredible. The tour guide was one of the most enthusiastic and friendly people I’ve ever met. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience.
Our family had an absolutely amazing time on our tour! The tour guide was very personable and great at what he does. The places he took us and the food we ate were top notch. Would highly recommended to anyone!

This was a wonderful experience! My tour guide was very knowledgeable and he was extremely upbeat and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience
The tour with Ryota was an unforgettable experience! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone had a great time. We explored hidden gems in Ginza, enjoyed delicious local food, and tasted some fantastic sake. Ryota’s enthusiasm and insights made the tour even more special. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo!
Our family of four had a delightful experience on the Tokyo Ginza Private Food Tour. We visited a cozy izakaya where we enjoyed traditional Japanese dishes like yakitori and fresh sashimi. The atmosphere was welcoming, and it was a wonderful way to immerse ourselves in Japan’s rich culinary traditions together.
Experienced Shinjuku through a local’s eyes, in this case our vibrant tour guide Lax. We enjoyed making savory pancakes, trying different yakitori and tasting sake from different prefectures. We had fun playing arcade games and taking fun pictures in the Photo Booth. Lax is not only cultured and highly knowledgeable, but he was incredibly accommodating and polite and so much fun! One of the top three tours ever!
Exploring Ginza with friendly tour guide, Yosuke was really fun. We tried savory pancake and Monja-yaki, and after that we also tried Japanese local food in hidden places. Thank you Yosuke.
Two months ago, my wife and I joined Bar hopping tour with Tour guide, Ken and Yosuke, and we booked new tour of Ginza. We explored the hidden gems of Tokyo's bustling business district, Shimbashi, with our fantastic guide Ken. He led us to tiny, local restaurants and bars we never would've found on our own. We had a blast making our own pancakes and trying different sakes too. Ken, Goen Japan made sure our night in Shimbashi was unforgettable.
