Itinerary
We reach Meteora at around 12:30p.m; this fascinating complex of huge steep rocks of pennant, arising close to the first elevations of the longest sierra in Greece, Pindos (the “spine” of Greece). We visit two of the six operating Holy Monasteries depending on the schedule of each one. During our visits to the monasteries we make a short stop to admire the stunning panoramic view of the Holy Monasteries from up high and capture the mystique of the landscape. The wild unapproachable area with the sandstones of more than 65 millions years old is majestic and at the same time unearthly and divine as until today their origin cannot be explained. Next, we enjoy our greek traditional lunch break in Kastraki, at Kalampaka area, against the view of the astonishing Meteora. We depart to Thessaloniki at around 15:30p.m and we have a last stop for 20΄ for coffee and rest. We are back at about 19:00p.m, making the same stops where we started from.

As it mentioned it's an 11 hrs trip so u will feel tired when ur back but its recommended bcoz the monastries are wonderfull and the view is also amazing so its a good trip
This tour is well worth the long day. We were transported in comfort to Meteora with commentary along the journey about the locations we were passing through with history, legends and current interesting details. Good rest stops along the way with great views of Mount Olympus were a bonus. At Meteora our lovely guide gave good suggestions about how to enjoy the monasteries, and made sure we were all safe and sound. Then lunch at the restaurant on the way back was absolutely outstanding and good value given the great quality of the food and drinks served. It is a well run good value tour that I gladly recommend.
The tour guide and the Bus Operator for this trip are accomodating. The tour guide is personable and thorough. Very very skilled Bus operator/driver. The itenary was followed as published.
A worthwhile experience to see the majestic Meteora. Everything went smoothly and the guide and driver were great. Sit on the left side if you want to see Meteora on approach. Anyone with moderate physical condition can do it. Lunch at Meteora Panorama restaurant was good and service was efficient, essential for a bus load of tourists. Bring snacks as the shop at the pit stop is overpriced.
Great guide, bus driver, information, communication, what to expect. Could have a bit more time at each monastery but this would be difficult to do. Restaurant that we are brought to is pricy for what we get- food is good there and ambiance but prices reflect the fact we are all sent to one place.
Our tour guide, Eleni, was absolutely amazing! She was so entertaining and really professional throughout the trip. Overall, the itinerary was great. All the stops in Meteora were absolutely worth it and the views were spectacular. The only minus was the restaurant choice that everyone was expected to eat at, because it was on the expensive side (main course 20-30€).
We met up 8 AM and got picked up by the bus. We had the option to eat at 9 AM or just get coffee, very close to Mt. Olympus (bonus that we got to see this). Then we rode the bus to 2 different Monestaries. You don't need to bring a long skirt as a woman as thr monestaries provide this free of charge in the entrance. It was very interesting to get insight to the life of the munks and nuns. We also stopped at the most beautiful picture spot. Be careful if you are afraid of heights. Lunch was a bit late for my taste but the food was so good and the restaursnt had beautiful views. Then we rode back to Thessaloniki. I am very hsppy I got this experience. The time we had at each stop was fitting. Tip: Bring some entertainment for the bus trip since it is a lot of the day you will spend in a bus.
Very enjoyable day. Giorgio was a great guide and gave us good information about the city and the monasteries. Enjoyable, safe, smooth bus ride.
Excellent and interesting sites to visit of particular authenticity and outstanding scenery to view.
Once you get to the activity it’s very interesting and enjoyable, but you must get there! From Thessaloniki it’s a four hours public bus ride to the pick up point. You must find your way to the bus station, ride three hours, transfer to another bus and ride for another hour in order to be picked up by the tour provider. Once picked up, you are taken to a meeting point to have lunch and await other participants. At the end of the three hour activity, you return to the meeting point, transfer to the minivan and get dropped off at a point where you must walk down hill to start your four hour public bus ride back to Thessaloniki. All of that said, our tour guide was great and did all she could to appease the disgruntled participants.(I’m sorry I forgot her name)
Well organised day trip with friendly and informative guide, great way to visit Meteora. good value for money.
Stunning scenery with some history to add. Loved every minute, from exploring the monasteries to just taking in the amazing landscapes. Sisi our guide was great.
Good air conditioned coach with reasonable stops. Guide pointed out things of interest on route meteora was spectacular monasteries beautiful and accessible food at restaurant good and swift service perhaps a little expensive
Meteora is an amazing place. Our guide Eleni gave us great information for Meteora and places we passed by. The coach was very comfortable. The place they took us for lunch was expensive but had a nice view.
This was one of the best day trips we've ever done. It was very well organised and I cannot recommend our guide CeeCee and our driver Michael enough. They were both very professional and friendly, with CeeCee providing us with plenty of useful information on the drive there and back and answering our questions and Michael navigating the roads with ease. Everything was very prompt, and although there was a lot of driving the breaks meant that you never felt like you'd been stuck on a bus all day. Meteora is a beautiful place so if you're in Thessaloniki it is well worth a visit with Ammon Express.
At Thessaloniki for a solo business trip right now and decided to choose this trip with a pretty decent amount of positive rating from many people. Well, i was not disappointed. The Mercedes tour bus is well equipped, working A/C, with schuko outlet (bring your phone charger with you), bottle of water on the house, calm driver. This day there were just too many tourists visited the places we have been at, but it really worth to see this at least once in a lifetime. The time plan is good, there were enough time for every stop to visit, take photos, enjoy the moment. The only negative i'd mention was the recommended, yet overhyped restaurant with overprices 'special' 'foods of the day' which is special because of its the way restaurant served it (cheese melting at the table with blowtorch) for an extra 7€ beyond the normal price. So for the example, a Mousaka 'Speciality' you should have paid 18€+7€. Still they gave the option in advance to you, so you could have eaten whereever you wished to. Thanks for our guide Sisi (perhaps written as Cece or CeeCee ? sorry for that) it become a great experience. Overall a very good greek experience, and a must see unesco site. 5* for Ammon Express.
Excellent guide Cici but the monasteries were crowded with tourists in small rooms. Views are great. Mountains were unique. .
Great tour well organized! Comfortable bus and very knowledgeable tour guide ( Sisi) and of corse amazing views of Meteora!
Fabulous trip to visit 2 of the 6 Meteora Monasteries , we went to Varlaam and St Stephen. Enough time given to visit both . Excellent guide C C who gave out a lot of useful information during the trip and was friendly. Comfortable full size coach with great music played low enough to be in the background . By prior arrangement with Ammon I left the trip at the meal stop on the return at Kastraki , stowing my 10kg bag in the hold, so I could spend a further two days exploring this unique and beautiful area ...if you have the time I highly recommend this...Ktel have a coach you can book online via Trikala to Thessaloniki that departs late afternoon for example .
Quite a long journey but worth it for the experience. The lunch stop is very traditional so not good for different diets.
Spiros (driver) and Elani (tour guide) were fantastic. Elani was happy to answer all our questions and was very informative. Highly recommend.
Well organised day trip to Meteora from Thessaloniki. Plenty of stops as it was a long day. Our guide was Eva and driver Ilias were fantastic. Meteora was amazing and the monasteries visited spiritual. The 16th century church frescoes and icons were magnificent though some depicted the martyrdom of the apostles and revelations.
A very holy, memorable once in a lifetime experience. George was a great guide. We went to two monasteries. It would've been great if we could've done 3 out of the 6 monasteries. Only thing is it was a very long day travelling.
Impressive landscape and very well organized , thanks to the tour leader . Everything ok at the end !
Wonderful landscape and fantastic buildings (monasteries) on top of the rocks! I wished, we could have visited more than two monasteries but the time didn't allow it. All in all a great trip with a lot of information provided by the guide.
It was a long day but worth it to see Meteora. The monasteries and vistas are just breathtaking. We spent enough time at each place. The bus was okay but the air con was not great. It was a long journey home in the afternoon. Our guide, Cece was fantastic. She watched out for the whole group and made the experience really enjoyable.
Great organization, comfortable travel, excellent guide (thank you Adria) and driver (Costas) and one of the moat beautiful places in the world to visit.
Very good excursion. Tour guide eleni was very knowledgeable. Very pleasant experience! Highly recommend
2 great trips in a week, one to the Meteora monastries, the other to Mount Olympus - coach arrived on time, excellent guide on both trips, Sissy, who was very knowledgeable, particularly about archaeology, ( which she has a degree in & is studying for her Masters ), but also passionate about the area and the places we visited on these trips
Great views. The tour guide was great, provided lots of of information. Great driver, nicely organized trip. The lunch top little expensive, but break stop has better prices on the souvenirs compared to other stores. Would not recommend for babies or toddlers
Very much worth it!! The guide was super nice and on the way she told us a lot of facts about Thessaloniki. Super nice experience<3
You are on a bus for many hours but with stops. Very comfortable travel and tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. The tour itself was well worth the travel time. Natural beauty is quite overwhelming
We had a fantastic day out to Meteora. Special thanks to our wonderful guide, Eleni, who entertained us on the long drive with cultural and historical anecdotes as well as provided great background and context for the most breathtaking spot in Greece. I also really enjoyed her tales of Mt Olympus as we drove by the home of the 12 Olympians. Kalispera for a wonderful day out!
Fabulous experience! I am not a fan of heights, and I was concerned about how much of my trepidation would come into play visiting the monasteries. I had zero need to worry. The access is much easier than I would have ever thought! Our guide and driver were both fabulous. Eleni was so informative and always available to help. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic Meteora tour! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Our guide, EvaM10, was professional, very kind, friendly, and very informative. Everything was clearly explained, the lunch stop was great, and Meteora was absolutely breathtaking. An unforgettable experience—highly recommended!
Excellent experience! Everything exactly as expected and was clearly explained on the website. There was enough time to visit each monastery, to look around, and to take pictures of the extraordinary landscape. We stopped at a restaurant stop on the way there - and on the way back - with bathrooms, bakery, coffee and souvenirs. Prices and quality was good. Lunch spot was also very good. Prices a bit higher as expected in a touristic pla e, but quality was high and staff was friendly and efficient. Overall an excellent experience if you only have 1 day to visit meteora. The guide was friendly and informative. Always very clear in pickup times and about what to expect. And some extra tips.
We did the Meteora day trip, and à Thessaloniki Food walking tour with Ammon Express. Both tours were well-organised, expertly guided, and great value for money. Cee-Cee was the Meteora guide, she was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of every detail. The coach was comfortable, and the itinerary was perfect. The guide for our Food Walking Tour, I think it was Adrianna, was also very good. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour was very enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in recommending these Ammon Express tours if you’re visiting Thessaloniki.
A very well organised and run day trip to Meteora, with a lovely and informative guide (Eleni). We had a great day and highly recommend.
We wanted to go to Meteora for a while. Booked this trip in plenty of time to avoid any disappointment. We were met on time by Eleni and travelled in a comfortable air conditioned coach. Stop off half way for a comfort break and refreshments. Whilst travelling Eleni pointed out things of interest. Arriving at Meteora it was more breathtaking than the pictures could possibly capture. We had plenty of time and opportunity to take photos. We went for lunch in a fantastic panoramic restaurant where the food was slightly more expensive than Thessaloniki but was of a good quality. Stop off half way again on the way back into Thessaloniki for a comfort break. It was a long day but well worth it and I would recommend this trip as a must if you’re coming to Thessaloniki.
This tour was absolutely amazing and had everything you could want – stunning monasteries, breathtaking views, and a really well-planned itinerary. Cici was a fantastic guide, sharing lots of interesting information in a friendly and engaging way. Although the tour lasts over 10 hours, the time flew by because there was always something incredible to see. I'd definitely recommend it!
Incredible views and a comfortable bus! The mountains and rock formations were unlike anything I have ever seen!
A long day, but absolutely worth it to experience the incredible monasteries of Meteora. We visited two monasteries and stopped at a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the others — a highlight of the day. There was one restroom break on the way to Meteora and another on the return, and the monasteries themselves also have facilities, which made the journey comfortable. The time allocated at each monastery felt adequate, and we never felt rushed while exploring. Our guide was informative and approachable, adding helpful context throughout the day without overwhelming the experience. Lunch was arranged at a specific restaurant that isn’t near any alternatives, so there are no other dining options. The food was decent, fairly priced, and served quickly — we were able to finish within about an hour. Overall, it’s a long day, but the sights of Meteora are spectacular and absolutely worth the trip. Highly recommend.
The tour itself was okay overall, but it was ruined at the end. Instead of stopping for lunch in the city, as stated in the tour description, we stopped in the middle of nowhere with only two restaurants to choose from, and the guide was clearly steering people toward one of them. As our break was coming to an end, it started pouring rain. Although the driver was inside the bus, he wouldn’t let us in and told us to wait outside by the road. To make matters worse, the guide herself came back late.
Wonderful experience no one should miss in Thessaloniki . Wish there were more than two monasteries to visit. The lunch was very delicious at the Greek taverna .
Boarded the bus on time. Our tour guide, Elena (?) had a Marissa Tomei look going on. No suspicious minds there. She was knowledgeable, but didn't ramble on non-stop. She was friendly to everyone. The bus took about 3.5 each with with 1 stop for a break. We saw 2 Monesteries which were great to see. No pictures inside (sucks) It's amazing how they built them in the 1400s atop mammoth cliffs. We stopped for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then headed back to Thessaloniki. Very worthwhile for a day trip
George was a fabulous guide—Knowledgeable, funny, patient. Excellent driver. Comfortable bus. Breathtaking site. Could use more time at the monasteries themselves.
Eva provided the greatest day of my life on our trip to meteora, she was extremely knowledgable and friendly and kept everything organised and running perfectly. If anything I wish the tour was 5 hours longer to spend there but that’s personal, for most the trip will be the perfect length and something you may only experience once in your life. Any orthodox Christian visiting Thessaloniki should witness this and Ammon express was amazing for the price they provide!
It was an unforgettable trip with the amazing views and wonderful guide Eleni who is very friendly and well educated.
A great experience. The guide, Evaggelia, was knowledgeable and gracious. The bus driver was steady and careful. The monasteries, of course, are magnificent. The lunch stop was an unexpected bonus. The food was delicious!
