Met PJ at the train station and we proceeded to our first stop. PJ has a good knowledge of the local architecture and govermental structure of The Hague. We covered the Hague both ‘old and new’. Half way thru the tour we had a refreshment break. PJ accompanied me to the Mauritshuis where he provided a ticket to see the masterpieces of Vermeer, Rembrandt, etc. PJ was knowledgable, friendly and provided a good overview of The Hague.

The Mauritshuis is a world-renowned museum that houses a stunning collection of Dutch Golden Age paintings. Located in a historic 17th-century mansion, the museum is home to Johannes Vermeer’s iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring, alongside masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen. With its intimate setting and unparalleled collection, the Mauritshuis offers an unforgettable journey into the brilliance of Dutch art, making it a must-visit for art lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
The Binnenhof in The Hague is the political heart of the Netherlands and one of the oldest parliamentary buildings still in use. This historic complex, dating back to the 13th century, is home to the Dutch Parliament and the Prime Minister’s office. At its center stands the magnificent Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights), a medieval hall with stunning stained glass and a grand wooden ceiling, where the King delivers the annual Speech from the Throne. As a symbol of Dutch democracy and history, the Binnenhof is a must-visit for those fascinated by politics, architecture, and heritage. Due to the current renovations, we will be visiting the Binnehof renovation center as well as climb the Binnehof watch tower to get a glance of how the renovations and how the binnehof is looking like.
We visit the Grote Kerk Free of charge. The Grote Kerk (Great Church) in The Hague is a striking Gothic landmark with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Famous for its towering brick facade and magnificent stained-glass windows, this former church has witnessed royal baptisms and historic events. Its impressive 600-year-old bell tower offers breathtaking city views, while the intricate woodwork and grand organ showcase centuries of craftsmanship. Today, the Grote Kerk hosts cultural events and concerts, making it a must-visit for history lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike.
This is a very important statue for the Hague. We will visit this statue and take some moments for photos. The Standbeeld Haagse Harry (Statue of Haagse Harry) in The Hague, Netherlands, is a tribute to one of the city's most beloved comic book characters, created by Marnix Rueb. Haagse Harry, known for his exaggerated dialect and satirical humor, became an icon of local culture, representing the working-class spirit of The Hague.
We visit this Royal palace of the Hague from outside. Noordeinde Palace in The Hague is one of the official working palaces of the Dutch royal family. This elegant 17th-century palace serves as the King’s office, where official meetings and state affairs take place. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and located in the stylish Noordeinde district, the palace is a striking example of Dutch royal heritage. While the interior is not open to the public, visitors can admire its grand neoclassical façade and explore the nearby Palace Garden, a serene spot offering a glimpse into royal life. It remains an important symbol of Dutch monarchy and governance.
The Royal Palace has its own gardens. Enjoy the small Palace Garden with free entry and take a relaxing stroll along the romantic flower beds, ponds, fountains, and marble statues. Right next to the park, you'll find the Royal Stables, where the horses and carriages are kept. We will visit here and have a small break strolling in the nature in the city.
Het Torentje is a special building adjecent to the Parliament offices in the Binnenhof, also next to the water. Het Torentje in The Hague is a historic octagonal tower on the Hofvijver, which has served as the office of the Dutch Prime Minister since the 19th century. We had a great walking tour of The Hague by PJ. He was very knowledgeable about the city and Netherlands history. He took nice photos of us at various spots and even gave us some tea and a snack. He also recommended several restaurants and museums to visit during our stay. We learned so much and enjoyed his tour.
I took a two-hour tour of The Hague that ended at the Mauritshuis. It was an interesting and expertly led tour by a very friendly guide who tailored the experience to my interests. It was an enriching experience and one I could highly recommend.
Excellent tour in every respect. Lots of information and perfect length. PJ was always keen to ensure the tour was covering the information/areas I wanted. Highly recommended tour.
My friend and I, along with a few tourists who are walking and exploration enthusiasts, thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of The Hague with PJ. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared fascinating stories about the city's history, culture, and the architecture of its beautiful buildings. The tour was well-paced, informative, and filled with interesting insights that we would never have discovered on our own. Thank you, PJ, for a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting The Hague to connect to PJ and explore!
Very interesting history lesson
Very informative and interesting tour of The Hague. Changed tour time to suit my schedule and was easily contactable. Very helpful with suggestions for other activities and the logistics in getting to locations quickly. Thank you PJ
Amazing tour! I really appreciated his input on all the must see locales in The Hague
PJ is friendly and knowledgeable. He will come to meet you at your hotel if he can. He showed us the highlights of the city and a few hidden extras. He even made us a hot drink when we had a few minutes sit down. I've been on many walks where there's been no break and it can be fatiguing the short break eases that.
PJ was very accommodating meeting us at a convenient location for us in Hague. He was professional, friendly and shared his in depth knowledge in the key historical sights in the city. The tour was about two hours long and gave us enough time to have private time to explore the city.
PJ was great. We made a mistake with our meeting place and PJ helped us navigate to the right spot without any issue. He was very friendly and professional and clearly loves what he does. He was really knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. This tour in particular was a really nice stroll through the various sites of the city. PJ hit the Goldilocks sweet spot of info-- not too much, not too little. I would definitely recommend this tour.
PJ had so much knowledge to share with us about The Hague that it made our experience a great one. The treats (tea and cookies) were an awesome gesture too.
Educational and informative. Guide was well informed and competent. Great overview of Hague history and culture
Hi, I had a great walking tour with PJ, he was prompt, very knowledgeable and pleasant. He answered our questions and even provided snacks. One of the highlights of our trip I highly recommend.
PJ is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide and we enjoyed his tour very much. He was flexible with adjusting the start time for us to accommodate our travel time. We did run about an hour longer than expected, which is something to keep in mind if you’re on a tight schedule.
Even though The Hague is really just another city, we did see beautiful buildings with a lot of history and did a great walk about tour. Mauritshuis was amazing and full of exceptional paintings by Vermeer, Rembrandt etc.
PJ was an excellent guide. Very informative and interesting. Showed us places we would never have found on our own. He was also very helpful regarding using public transport.
We enjoyed our tour with PJ immensely. He is an absolute gentleman. So nice & funny 😄 His knowledge of The Hague is incredible. There is not one question that we had that he could not answer. I would highly recommend PJ as your guide. You will not be disappointed
Nice insight into The Hague! Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Fair amount of walking which was fine on a nice sunny day. Might not be as good on a rainy day.
Wonderful experience walking around the city learning about the history and “some gossip”. Els was amazing. A native of The Hague and she was very knowledgeable.
Nice experience, nice guide and lots of information about mainly the buildings in The Hague. Cup of coffee or tea with a sweet on the way.
