The Galveston Walking History Tour

Emmy led us on a wonderful tour of historic Galveston today, complete with ghost stories! We had a fantastic time and learned a lot of history, too. Highly recommend !

A History Tour That Could Have Benefited from a Little More Charm We joined a walking history tour of Galveston today, looking forward to learning more about this fascinating city and its colourful past. Our guide, Emmy, was certainly not lacking in confidence. Unfortunately, confidence and courtesy are not necessarily travelling companions. While Emmy clearly enjoys commanding an audience, her manner was frequently rude, dismissive and unnecessarily condescending. There is a considerable difference between sharing knowledge with enthusiasm and making paying guests feel as though they have been summoned before a particularly impatient headmistress. Interestingly, a little online research afterwards revealed a video in which Emmy describes herself as a tarot reader. Perhaps that explains her apparent ability to anticipate what her guests were thinking — although, judging by the atmosphere, she might have benefited from reading the room instead.

Emmy did a great job telling the history of Galveston and incorporating humor into the walking tour. She kept us entertained!

Had an amazing time on this Galveston walking tour! My partner and I have visited Galveston many times but it was great to learn more of the rich history of the island. Emmy Rose was an excellent tour guide! She was not only knowledgeable but also had a sense of humor which kept the tour very engaging. Though the price may seem steep, I believe it was fully worth it for the experience and would recommend it for those looking to learn more about Galveston.

Emmyrose presented a lively, entertaining history walking tour that set up the remainder of our visit to Galveston. She provided history laced with stories that painted the picture behind the history.

This is the most all ability friendly tour. The walking is relatively slow. There are options for wheelchairs and to slow down in all locations. The guide makes sure everyone is accommodated. I would not recommend this tour for individuals with young children-it wont be up their alley, as it is not really interactive and the informationwould be a bit too dry for them. The guide was very knowledgeable and animated. It felt a little slow to me, but for the larger geoup it was probably necessary to keep it slower. I was hoping for a bit more movement as I dont like standing still for too long. So that would be the only issue that held me back from 5 stars.

A wonderful experience and tour. Noell was completely knowledgeable, and very kind. She left us with our curiosity heightened and we plan to dig into the Galveston history even further. I would recommend this tour to all my friends and family.

Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. She was able to answer all of our off the wall questions. She was a Galvestonion and obviously loved her homeplace and the history behind it. It was a hot day, and I was worried it would be hot and miserable. She knew all the cool places with air conditioning and shade. I highly recommend. We have Such a new appreciation for Galveston.

EmmyRose did a great job- we learned so much about Galveston. We enjoyed the stories about the buildings, those that developed Galveston, and little tidbits about how great Galveston is. Emmy took pictures for us and answered all our questions. We stopped along the way at different parks and benches (even a bathroom break). She pointed out good places to eat and museums. While ghost stories in towns are the rage now, one can understand why Galveston would have more than it's share. Best tour so far this trip.

Lady Saelym provided a fun, informative and memorable walking tour experience for me and my wife. This was our first visit to Galveston, and we knew little about the history of the area. We learned so much from our guide, Emmyrose. She was born and raised here, and has a vast knowledge of the history of Galveston, going back 500 years. She incorporated historical accounts along with sharing the significance of the beautiful architecture of many of the buildings along The Strand. We highly recommend taking this walking tour with Emmyrose.

Emmy rose was a great tour guide. Not only did she give us so much historical information, she did it a very entertaining way. She told us stories of the people who made Galveston what it is today and made it seem so real. I would recommend her to anyone. Additionally, my husband has issues walking any great distances and she sure that we stopped and sat periodically.

Had a great tour of Galveston with Lady Saelym. She was knowledgeable, friendly, down to earth, well spoken, entertaining and even funny. She keep me captivated all the while giving me information that didn't feel like a school lecture. You are lucky to have her on your team!

Lady Salem was our guide and she was awesome. She knew her history even though she admitted she had only been on the island for 9 months. She clearly had done her homework and was very knowledgeable. She pointed out historic buildings, talked about how they survived hurricanes, took us into buildings and gave up time for pictures. I definitely recommend this tour.

We toured with Emmy Rose. She was excellent! So much interesting information and lots of fun facts and local stories made this far more enjoyable than a stick to the textbook history lesson. Beautiful clean city with awesome architecture...real "Eye Candy". Also great recommendations of where to eat and shop. Take this tour!!!

Lady Saelym was our tour guide on the bus. She was pretty and knowledgeable but was a little sing songy. She ended early because people were falling asleep. But we had an early morning from the cruise so I don’t think it was her. I wish her luck in the future
