It’s a great way to discover the hidden gem of Fredericksburg, Texas and explore a few Napa Valley of Texas vineyards. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the wine tasting; discovering a wine the I’ve never heard of before (Teroldego) was a huge bonus.

Matt was friendly and very knowledgeable. He tailored the trip to our wine preference which was perfect. A very enjoyable day out.
Matthew, our guide andco-owner was very friendly, personable and informed. The Sister Creek Vineyard was our favorite stop. We support small business and local artisans. We did purchase a bottle of wine from this vineyard. The lunch stop in Fredericksburg was long enough. It has grown into a busy tourist town, much different from our last visit 6 years ago. Our second wine tasting was at a large, newer wine tasting spot. It is a beautiful, California like winery. Merryl, conducted the tasting. She was a very friendly, local woman, who knew the wine she poured. This was a fun, safe way to visit Fredericksburg from San Antonio. It was a nice, relaxing day. We learned a lot about Texas wine.
Matt was very knowledgeable about San Antonio as well as the “wine country”. We also enjoyed meeting the folks from Connecticut who were also on this tour.
We had a great time!!!! Brandy was amazing and helpful. We went to 2 wineries and we had some free time to walk around.
Enjoyed this trip to Fredericksburg. It was so fun. Matthew was a great tour guide full of history and expertise. I went with my best friend of 30+ years. This is a top attraction. Recommend 10/10
This was an amazing day, traveling from San Antonio to visit Fredericksburg. The personality of our guide, Matthew, was a perfect fit and he made the experience so much better. He was knowledgeable and most of all patient! He allowed us to take our time and never made us feel rushed. We got lost for our pick up place after lunch (blame the wine tastings!) and forgot a credit card at a store and he patiently handled both situations with a smile. Worth every penny!
An amazing tour! Very personal to your preference. Lots of historical information! Highly recommend!
Matt was a great host and I loved touring Hill Country wineries and visiting charming downtown Fredericksburg! I appreciated the communication regarding my reservation and pick up. Matt is also very knowledgeable about the area and shared a lot of interesting information with us. I would definitely book another experience with Cottonwood and would highly recommend them.
Fantastic tour. We couldn’t have been happier with Cottonwood Wine Tours. Our guide, Matt, was so knowledgeable that at one tasting location the staff was actually asking him questions concerning wine production. Can’t recommend this tour enough,
Absolutely awesome experience! Our guide Matt was outstanding in his knowledge of all things Texas and wine and pretty much everything else. The wineries were great and quite different We had a nice time in Fredericksburg. All in all an amazing fun and interesting experience.
Our tour guide, Brandy with Cottonwood Tours, was extremely sweet and very knowledgeable about the area we visited. We loved Fredericksburg!! Such a cute town with great shops and restaurants. Wish we could have had more time in this town. We had two wine tastings at beautiful venues and also stopped at Luckenbach. Brandy showed us the many vineyards in the area and was a great tour guide!
Brilliant day! Matt was a great guide and was full of interesting information. Matt offered us to do the trip whichever way we wanted was really nice of him. We choose to do tastings before the stop in town for lunch, we saw both a more family run winery and a co-operative run one which gave a great perspective from either side of the industry. Our stop in town was great, we loved it and had plenty of time for lunch and a good walk round. Would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone, wine buffet or just know what you like....it doesn't matter it will suit everyone
This was a great small group tour. Matt was great and loved his choice of wineries. Everyone was friendly. Lots of fun.
Every part of the experience was excellent from start to finish. The best part is you don't have to worry about who in the group is your designated driver. Matt and Brandy were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The destinations chosen were excellent! Who knew there was so much wine culture just outside of San Antonio! If you're a wine enthusiast or just want to have a very enjoyable afternoon visiting vineyards in the Texas Hill Country, this tour is a must. Everyone in our group had a great time. Well worth it! Tip: I always book directly with the operators on their website to help support them. www.cottonwoodwinetours.com
Matthew was knowledgeable, attentive, flexible, and friendly. He had a nice relationship with the winery staff. A nice day!
Matt is terrific in every way. He communicated well before the start, asked for votes on changing the itinerary to have lunch after the first wine tasting instead of after the 2nd (we did), and selected the second winery based on more group members’ preferring white wines over reds. His tour about winemaking was top-notch (I’ve worked in the industry) without being too long. He described parts of the San Antonio’s/the hill country’s history, found a safe place to stop for a photo op with blooming Texas bluebonnets, and played a Texas-related sound track. Really relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable, delicious wines.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. My friends and I had a great time.
We visited 2 very different but equally excellent wineries. Quality and choice of wine very good. We had time for lunch and shopping in Fredericksburg. Matt our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and looked after everyone.
Wonderful tour that was customized to our taste preferences. Very knowledgeable of the area and the wine industry.
Our guide Matt was knowledgeable, friendly and added to the experience. The other guests added to the experience. Our guide adjusted to the group’s preference of wine in selecting our second wine tasting.
Very nice driver. He was friendly, talkative and gave good suggestions
Brandie was an outstanding guide who gave us not only a fantastic day trip, but also a long list of great recommendations for the rest of our stay in San Antonio. It’s clear she loves her state and genuinely enjoys sharing that passion with others. The wineries were wonderful, and having time for lunch and a little shopping in Fredericksburg made the day even more enjoyable.
Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Diane was our guide and driver. She is an absolute GEM!!!!! I highly recommend this family owned business to any & everyone who may be considering touring Fredericksburg!! 1000/10!!! You will not regret it!!!
Matt was awesome. So gracious. Super friendly and gave us a lot of amazing information and picked out the best vineyards. He provided an above and beyond experience.
A highly recommended and informative tour. The two wine tasting locations offered excellent service and wines with a great bouquet. The visit to the town was interesting. The best part was the conversation with the guide, Matt
Our guide, Matthew, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, informative, and friendly. Went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the experience.
The Fredericksburg tour with Matt was an absolute pleasure, highly recommend it! My parents were visiting from San Diego and wanted to check out the Hill Country, which ended up being such a wonderful and enriching time. Matt was knowledgeable, literally a walking encyclopedia for wine, history, and local lore. I appreciated his upbeat attitude and stories. A group of 5 ladies were also part of the tour and we really enjoyed getting to know them, the wines, and some great scenery! If you’re doing the 10-4:30pm tour, don’t expect to be back on time. we made the mistake of planning dinner an hour after the tour was intended to end, but had to cancel our reservations. We’re grateful for the moments and new friends!
Diana was a great tour guide. I was traveling alone and she went the extra step to pick me up at my hotel. She was very knowledgeable on all the wine and processes. I had a great time!
Matthew was great! He was very friendly and knowledgeable on the various wines and wineries we toured.
A nice way to visit some wineries & places outside of San Antonio. Matt was our driver & extremely knowledgeable in wine & the areas we visited.
Our guide Diana was excellent and very knowledgeable. We had a great day out. Sisters creek winery was the better one out of the two we visited.
Excellent experience for someone wanting to take a day trip! Our driver Matt was excellent and very informative!! Would definitely recommend!!
Our tour guide Matthew was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the two wineries that we attended. I highly recommended this adventure.
Such a great time! Matt was so knowledgeable about the wineries, Fredericksburg and the area that we traveled. Was definitely worth the money and will do it again if we return to the area.
It was just my sister & I on the tour but we had a blast! Our tour guide, Brandy was fantastic & very knowledgeable about wine and the area. 1st stop was Sister Creek Vineyard where we had a tour of the facilities and tried a variety of wines. 2nd stop was Texas Wine Collective and it was so nice! Brad was super friendly & informative. He really took the time to explain the selections for my sister and I since we have different wine presences. We had lunch in Fredericksburg then headed home. 10am-4pm seems like a long time for be on tour but time really flies when you’re having fun! Will definitely do this again.
Not enough great words for how much we enjoyed the wine tour and our guide Matt. Matt really knows wine making and wine making in Texas. I have been on numerous Napa Valley tours and I learned much more about the wine making process and the why’s behind the process from Matt. The tour ended up being just my wife and I. Because we were a small group Matt worked with us to tailor our day with him and we added a stop at a nearby BBQ restaurant. The BBQ was amazing and Matt’s company and descriptions along the way enhanced the experience. Definitely someone who takes pride in San Antonio and making sure customers have an enjoyable day. I would highly recommend this tour. As an added FYI we were pleasantly surprised at the quality to Texas wines.
I was a solo traveler. The company called me the day before and asked if I could swap the day of my trip. I wasn’t able to due to flight schedules and they said “ok no big deal” with no explanation as to why. When I was picked up I was the only one on the tour. The tour guide did the best he could but it felt very awkward. The first stop was good and it didn’t feel rushed. The second wine stop I felt rushed and the tour guide stood next to me the whole time. It all felt very strange. I wish the company would have been forth coming with me so I could have decided better if I wanted to continue with the wine trip or if there was another tour option for the day that I could have switched to. This is a heads up to any solo traveler, to ask questions if you want to ensure this doesn’t happen to you (If you don’t want it to). I’d still recommend the wine and Fredricksburg trip as it was nice to get out of the city. The details of snacks and drinks were a nice touch as well.
Matt was very knowledgeable and friendly. Tailored the experience to the our preferences. Got to enjoy a lot of great wine and see the hill country of Texas and Fredericksburg.
Diana, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about wine & relayed that information in an entertaining manner. We visited 2 wineries (loved Sisters Creek) and were given time to self explore Fredericksburg. Went to celebrate our anniversary and had an amazing time!! Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience. Matthew did a fantastic job and his knowledge of winemaking and the history of the area is outstanding. We highly recommend him
A lovely morning and afternoon spent in Texas wine country! This tour exceeded my expectations. Diana was energetic, passionate about the area, and professional. I would definitely recommend this tour!
We learned so much about Different wines and the history of the vineyards. From the time we stepped in the van until we stepped out. The tour was awesome. Definitely feel like we got our money's worth on this tour.
Matthew was awesome! He was very personable…..adapted our experience to what we were interested in! Highly recommend!
Matthew was fantastic. We have been on many wine tours but this one we learned more about grapes, different wines and history of grapes than all others together. In addition Matthew was a Texas history buff. Thoroughly enjoyable day. Great lunch in German town Fredricksburg.
From start to finish I learned so many things about the myriad of wine varieties and how to properly enjoy them. The guide answered every question with enthusiasm and we even got to go behind the scenes at our first stop. Then lunch and a visit to historic Fredericksburg (the German food was authentic and beyond amazing). There were a few hidden extras on this tour that just made this a great day for everyone! I will do this tour again when I come back.
We had so much fun. Matt was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He tailored the tour to our wine preferences. We would recommend Cottonwood Wine Tours!
The guide was very knowledgeable about the process of wine making. It was a short trip out of San Antonio, loved that we did not have to drive.
Well run. Friendly. Good tour guide. Good vehicle. Took time and made the tour enjoyable. Flexible. Well organized. Would recommend without hesitation.
Went above and beyond. Trip was great. I was feeling faint. Diana made sure 911 was called and that I was well before returning to San Antonio.
