Itinerary
Fort Worth is where the West begins, and nothing embodies that Western heritage better than the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. From its historic brick streets to its wooden corrals, the district tells the true story of Texas’s famous livestock industry. Guests will explore the Stockyards while visiting four local saloons and bars, all within a few blocks of one another. At each stop, an expert local guide shares unknown and hilarious stories of cattle drives, legendary cowboys, notorious bandits, and saloon culture. Drinks are available for purchase at each stop. Walking is limited to a few blocks.
Guests begin their tour outsideCowtown Coliseum from outside and learn how the Stockyards arena, completed in 1908, became home to the first indoor rodeo. Their guide will explain the meaning and the man behind the First Bulldogger statue before the group heads off to four of the best bars in The Stockyards.

Fantastic tour - great for couples! Guide is engaging, so entertaining, and amazing history!
We loved this Stockyards Historical Tour and Bar Crawl! Big Tom knows his history and it was fun and interesting…excellent time with friends from High School in for a girls weekend!
We had a ton of fun. Great bars, amazing tour guide with Big Tom. He went above and beyond to make us have fun. Plus we made friends with the other people on the tour as well
Really enjoyed this tour. A few hours walking around the colorful sites of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Big Tom was our guide - he is a writer and historian who loves enlightening people about Texas.
Hannah was our guide and she was fantastic! She as able to relate with each member of the group, gave us the plan for the day and guided us thru the Stockyards along with the history of the Cowboy, Ft. Worth and Stockyards. She was great at giving suggestions for things to do on our visit as well as local restaurants to visit. It was a great part of our visit to Texas. I would highly recommend!
We had such a great time and Hannah was fabulous- full of knowledge and fun facts. Great experience!
Our Historic Tour with Big Tom as our guide was a highlight of our visit to Ft Worth! Tom is a supreme historian with great delivery...so engaging and knowledgeable! He taught us so much, took us to great drinking spots (giving us beverage recommendations along the way), and gave us an unforgettable afternoon! He promised we would have FUN and we sure did! I highly recommend this tour, especially if Big Tom is your guide!
A fun and engaging tour. Our guide, Big Tom, was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Fort Worth. It helps that he’s a certified historian (and also easy on the eyes). Would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Book this tour! I had such a great time. Big Tom is so much fun and tells so many interesting and fun stories about Fort Worth and cowboy lifestyle! It was a great afternoon. Thank you Tom! 🙏
My husband and I had a great time on our tour with Big Tom! He was a wonderful guide - entertaining and informative. We visited some wonderful saloons - new and old - and learned a lot about the history of the area. Highly recommend!
We had such a great time! Big Tom was a fantastic guide and made the whole experience fun, interesting, and memorable.
Big Tom was great, we loved our tour. Learnt heaps, would highly recommend
We were in town to cheer on our Nebraska cornhusker volleyball team. Our guide “Big Tom” was fantastic!! I highly recommend this for anyone visiting from out of town!
Hannah was very good knew lots about the Stockyards and took us to some nice bars Told us all about the cowboys
Hannah our guide was very good showed us around the Stockyards we had a great experience
Had a great time! Guide was very knowledgeable.
Small group max of 10 people (we had 7) makes it easier to hear the guide as they give unique histories about Fort Worth, cowboys and the Stockyards. You pay for your own drinks so you can drink what you want! Hannah Speiler was our guide and she was awesome! We had three people that recently moved to Ft Worth in our group because they wanted to learn more about the area, and Hannah hit the bullseye with her insights. Best value.
We enjoyed the history of Fort Worth and the Longhorn cattle drive. Hannah was very knowledgeable and had lots of colorful stories that separated the myths of the Hollywood movies to the reality of the cowboys
Tom is a great guide and Fort Worth Stockyard is an amazing place to hangout. We learn a lot and laughed even more.
Great experience with Big Tom, provided a great overview of everything Fort Worth
The tour was outstanding. My wife and I were the only people on the tour so it was very personalized. In the past, other tour groups have cancelled tours for lack of participation so it was refreshing to see a company make the extra effort to continue the tour and not cancel. Hannah was an outstanding guide, personable, friendly and knowledgeable. This was her first tour with just two people so as intimidating as that may have been, she handled it with grace and class and did a wonderful job telling us about the history of Fort Worth and the Stockyards.
Big Tom was a blast! We lucked out and it was just us with him. We learned the history of Fort Worth, saw some unique bars we hadn’t stumbled upon yet and learned a bit about Tom too! Thanks, Tom!
Had an amazing tour with Hannah and Big Tom - learnt so much about the history of Texas/Fortworth and the origins of the area and traditions - had such an enjoyable time!! Definitely worth it when you visit the stockyards
Walking through the Stockyards, there are so many places to see and explore. Having Big Tom as a guide to share the colourful and rich history of Texas and the Stockyards in particular was fabulous - he is so knowledgeable and presents the history in an engaging narrative, having a chat over a drink in a bar. What better way to learn history!
Highly recommend. Big Tom was awesome. Great experience. If you're looking to learn more about Texas history and have a couple of beers this is the tour for you.
Get the lay of the land on the stockyard bars and learn some Texas history along the way. Be sure to request Big Tom as your tour guide. You will not be disappointed!
Big Tom and Hannah gave us a history and background of the stockyards here in Fort Worth. Great time visiting the honky tonks and listening to cowboy history while imbing in our favorite beverages.
This is the second time we have done this tour. We have done it when we have out of town guests. During this tour, my family from Germany was visiting. Big Tom did a great job talking about the history of FW and the stockyards as well as accommodating a couple of special requests we had. We will definitely do this tour again with any other out of town guests we might have. Big Tom was AWESOME!
An excellent night out with a great selection of bars. One of our favourite excursions in the Stock Yards. Probably could be 30 / 40 mins shorter.
Our guide was very informative and friendly. He told us do many historical facts plus some interesting trivia and was prompt dnd helpful. So glad it was more than just pubs or beer!
We did the Stockyards History Tour Fort Worth Pub Crawl in late March, and it was one of the highlights of our time in Fort Worth. The tour takes you through four historic saloons in the Stockyards, but what really made it stand out was our guide, Big Tom. Tom has an incredible depth of knowledge about the area and brought the history to life in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. He mixed in humor at just the right moments, which kept things fun without taking away from the stories. We were the only family on the tour that day and had a more personalized experience as a result. The tour was absolutely worth the price. Note that drinks aren’t included, but that didn’t take away from the experience at all. The focus on the history and atmosphere of each stop made it feel more meaningful than just a typical bar crawl. And although you are walking, the distance covered is minimal. Even after the tour officially ended, Tom stuck around to chat with us and share additional recommendations for things to do in the area. That extra time and attention really says a lot. We’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Fort Worth—whether you’re interested in history, looking for something a little different to do, or just want a great introduction to the Stockyards.
Big Tom was the best! We had a great time and learned so much about Fort Worth history!
The guide knew the best facts about this lively city.
Big Tom was an amazing historian of the stockyards and the history of Texas. Got to try some cool IPA’s, beers and spirits along the way. Took us to many local areas and told us some funny stories about many things here in Texas.
Big Tom is a wealth of knowledge and a great storyteller. Tom taught us more about the Stockyards in a couple hours than we were able to learn in an entire weekend.
It was great and big Tom was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour. It was very enjoyable and we learned a lot about the cowboys and the history of the town.
Great time with Big Tom…had some good drinks and learned some history. Dude knows his history no doubt. Would recommended to anyone.
Very worth the money! Big Tom was very informative. My husband and I had a great time learning all about Fort Worth. Tom made it super fun, he’s a great storyteller.
Had a great time! Our host, Tom, was amazing and we learned things that we didn’t know which was fun. Highly recommend!
We had such a great time on this tour. Big Tom was awesome! Highly recommend signing up for this tour of historic Fort Worth.
Our guide, Big Tom, was lots of fun. We went to 4 bars, all different, bought our drink and listened to the stories of the past and how Fort Worth and the cowboys came to be. Big Tom’s knowledge and story telling was really enjoyable. We did the 7.00pm tour, a word of advice, have dinner before you get there.
Had a great time with Big Tom and new friends from Ohio . Solo travelling is always daunting but Big Tom made it very fun from the start. A true historian in local knowledge , not just a local with no care. Brings the group into the discussions at just the right time without being forceful . Got through just the right amount of bars in the 3 hours without walking too far. Great experience 🤠🐂🐂
Ask for Big Tom. He was very knowledgeable, didn't rush us and just made the whole experience very enjoyable.
Great tour and GREAT tour guide. Tom was fantastic, very knowledgeable and an engaging story teller. Lots of history in the area on the local bars and lifestyles that shaped the community. Would definitely recommend to people visiting the area.
Fun and informative. Big Tom was fantastic! We learned a lot and met some great people. Easy meet up. Very casual. Tom was so upbeat and friendly. Not a lot of walking.
Big Tom was our guide. I’ve lived in Texas for 25 years, yet learned so much about our history on this tour. Not wheelchair accessible, some stairs.
Outdoor experience well worth doing informative and fun Big Tom was great. All types of weather .😊🐂
The stockyards tour with Big Tom exceeded my expectations! His deep knowledge of the region’s history combined with his excellent storytelling skills and sense of humor made for a fun and truly interesting 2.5 hours. We visited four saloons and heard entertaining stories about each that painted a vivid picture of life in the stockyard’s early days. Tom also skillfully wove the anecdotes into explanations of the trends and events that created the Texas cattle industry and the cowboy, and the region’s place in North American history. Along the way, we tasted some delish local beers (listen to Tom’s recommendations) and had a lot of laughs with the others on the tour. We learned a ton and had fun doing it. I highly recommend this tour with Big Tom!
Great time learning about Ft Worth and some of the historical buildings while enjoying libations and meeting new people. Tiffany was a terrific tour guide!
