Great history and back story, not just hoakey paranormal stories. Tour guide was pretty cool. Kept it fun and interesting. I do wish we would have walked farther and seen a little more of the city but it was still worth it.

Itinerary
At its height this railroad station saw over 40,000 people a day on their way to Galveston's bars, casinos and brothels. An engineer by the name of William Watson would entertain the passing crowds by doing handstands on the cattle guard of the engines. One unfortunate day he SLIPPED and was immediately decapitated. A derby hat was still securely sitting on the head they found A MILE AWAY!
SO many dignitaries, soldiers, politicians and even presidents have checked in… BUT SOME NEVER CHECKED OUT. Crying sobs are heard on the stairwells and in the halls. A Civil War soldier marches up and down the lobby in front of everybody to see. A little boy plays in the hotel rumored to be the ghost of a child run over outside the front of the hotel. One helpful ghost will even unpack for you!
Charles F. Coghlan a famous British actor sailed to Galveston to grace the stage of The Grand Opera House. But poor Charles died before the curtain was ever raised. What to do with this distinguished visitor’s body? While waiting for the answer THE GREAT STORM demolished the island and carried Charles coffin out to sea. It floated from Galveston to Prince Albert Sound before it finally made land…ABOUT A MILE FROM WHERE CHARLES WAS GOING TO RETIRE!

A lot of interesting history. Our guide, Thomas, was very knowledgeable and now understand why Galveston is so haunted.
It’s educational with the history and how knowledgeable the tour guide was. The tour guide was very friendly and made it fun.
We loved the stories and history. Definitely recommend. Thomas made it fun and interesting. Thanks for a fun tour.
Very cool experience the tour guide was professional the way he explained everything with expressing himself with the different stories and things about the town
Not sure if I believe all the stories told, but we had a great tour guide (Thomas). The tour was also not too taxing for older folks; plenty of stops where you could take a seat for a few minutes.
He talked and gave a good history along with interactions. He was very polite. Small group but very fun
Thomas was an excellent guide. His presentation was engaging with so much detail about Galveston’s history and development as a city in the 1800’s. Their port was a critical part of their businesses and for a while Galveston was the capital of Texas. But when the 1900 storm hit Galveston, it devastated the city and changed its future. The worst natural disaster ever in the U.S. Thomas told us about the long recovery of Galveston and that ghosts are part of their city. One fascinating fact after another throughout the tour! I highly recommend this tour.
Lots of history, thomas was very knowledgeable. Interesting ghost stories. He even took more time with us. He pointed out various buildings and definitely captured your attention.
Thomas led a great tour! He gave great bits of history while telling us stories of some of the more notable spirits all while being fun and telling jokes. The tour was a great way to get to know the island a little better on our first night.
Thomas was very good very informative enjoyed his tour and made it fun We should have done this the first night on the island
Thomas gave us great history, great stories, and you can tell that he is really invested in creating a great experience for his groups. My 15-year-old and I had a great time on this tour, and we are happy to know more about the fascinating history of Galveston.
Took my daughter and a group of her friends on this tour for her 18th birthday. Thomas was very informative and kept everyone interested and entertained throughout the tour, which is not an easy thing to do with teenagers. Even though we are locals we learned lots of things about the island we never knew. Would definitely recommend this tour. Thanks for a fun evening Thomas!
Thomas was so awesome! We so appreciated the interesting stories and history lesson. Thanks for a great night! We will be back for another tour.
Thomas was an excellent guide, super knowledgeable and funny. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in supernatural or grisly stories
Thomas, was a great host.very funny, very imformal dad jokes lol ... he took his time to answer questions and inform us of the different locations of the mass graves.
Had a great time with husband and kids. Thomas is a character all on his own and he really brings the story’s to life. We had a great time!
My husband and I decided last minute to do this for our date night and glad we did. Thomas was a hilarious tour guide, loved all of his dad jokes and pestering passerby’s! He was very knowledgeable, so be ready to ask some questions, even the dumb ones, he may know the answer! Maybe go on a less busy bar night if doing the strand tour, prevented us from walking more than he would have liked. Overall a really great tour nonetheless!
Thomas was funny and informative! Made the whole experience very fun and personal! Enjoyed the stories and history of Galveston!
I found it very informative, Thomas was very knowledgeable and a great guide. We had a great time., thank you so much we have lived in Houston area for our whole lives and we have always wanted to take one of these tours.
Thomas was a great guide! I enjoyed hearing the history of the storm and the ghost stories that went with it. He even kept my teen and pre-teen engaged!
Thomas was great! Lots of great information about the ghosts around strand street. He made the tour super interactive so everyone was included in conversation and had a good time :)
My wife and I have taken numerous ghost tours throughout Texas and this was one of the best! Our tour guide, Thomas, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable of the area and offered great stories and experiences at each stop. If you have a night in Galveston, I highly recommend the tour and Thomas!
While me and my girls were in Galveston for a little get away during Spring Break, we did a second ghost tour with our guide Thomas. He was also very knowledgeable in the History of Galveston. He was fun, down to earth and funny! My girls loved it especially my seven year old. I think she took a fond liking to Thomas because she was right up front following him a long the way a majority of the time…lol. He was very good with her and joked with her along the way! He did a fantastic job, thank you Thomas! We will definitely be back for more. Now, one of the places he took us was the Railroad Museum. Some of the history involved a little boy and his mother that were stuck by a train. As he gave us a few minutes to explore and take some photos, I heard him say…if you take some photos under the train cars, some people have captured some things. So I did exactly that to play with my own curiosity. As I was going through some of my pictures I noticed this: see picture below.
Erin, our tour guide was informative and really was enthusiastic. I wish all your guides were like him. He answered questions no matter how many were asked
The group had about 40 people and it was for everyone to see and hear the tour guide. The history was nice to learn but just just hard to hear.
Annette was amazing. The tour was very interesting in spite of the extreme noise of the strand on a Saturday night. I can’t wait to come again for another tour.
My mom and I had a great time, Mike was so informative of all the ghosts and the buildings they inhabit, we ended up being the only 2 for the tour so that made it even more exciting and fun.
Our guide was fun, entertaining, and informational! I will be recommending this tour to anyone I know of that wishes to visit Galveston anytime soon!
My friend and I had an amazing time - we went on off season so we got the added bonus of a very private tour! Our tour guide Annette was very knowledgeable about the history and it was obvious she was proud of her town. The ghost stories were creepy (as they should be) and it was very cool that she had taken photos around town and could show us some of her sightings. Thank you for a very fun night Annette!
Pirate John was a terrific host! We paused at three separate spots on the tour where we learned about the history of Galveston and the devastating effects of the 1900 storm. Our host was a great storyteller- he paused for distractions, sprinkled in some humor, and loaded his talk with amazing details. We even visited a spot he recommended after the tour for a chance to catch some pictures of ghosties. We passed some other tours along the way, but no one else was being entertained by a fully adorned, crooked walking pirate. Super fun and informative experience.
We had a history lesson of what we already learned in high school and college and lived. There was nothing scary about it. Wasted $100
This was our first time in Galveston and ghost tours are something that we like to do when we visit new areas. To get to learn the local history and maybe see something spooky. We did the Spooky Strand Ghost Tour @ 10 PM. Our guide was Vic, she was very informative and as a local, herself knew so much about the history of the area. She was very entertaining and we really enjoyed our time with her on our ghost tour. We will be back for the different ghost tours the company offers next time we are in town.
Pirate John was great! We had a great time learning the history of the island. Plus our guide was easy in the eyes.
Pirate John is great, has a real flourish, and like any true pirate, knows how to spin a yarn. We had such a great time getting to know the history of this great Island, once home to the biggest storm disaster in US history.
We had a great time, and our guide was awesome. Not too much walking, some good stories and history.
The historical information was very wonderful. Few people are aware of the rich history of Galveston island. The jokes really lightened the mood after the death and distraction at each stop. My 15 year old grand daughter was enjoyed the experience as well as learned some things!
Great History lesson, Pirate John was awesome!! filled with lore, our tour taught us so much about the tragedies and triumphs Galveston island has gone through. Loved it!
John the pirate was awesome. Very informative and crazy creepy. I'll never view galveston the same...
John the Pirate was very knowledgeable and fun!!! Love the pirate jokes! He was the BEST!! If you go, go when it’s dark, sets the whole scene. Definitely will be taking all the other tours they offer too.
Pirate John was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and entertaining. Makes me want to learn more of this beautiful island
Very enjoyable Captain Jack is not only knowledgeable but that’s a good attitude and sense of humor.
Our guide was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly, and full of ghostly experiences of Galveston. We would recommend the tour to anyone who wants to learn the history of the city and the events that happened here years ago.
I had so much fun! Our guide was funny ans entertaining! I never knew that Galveston had so much history
We were very impressed by Pirate John. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We would definitely recommend this tour!
