Mission Espada is the oldest of San Antonio’s five Spanish colonial missions, founded in 1690 and relocated to its current site in 1731. Known for its charming, rustic architecture and peaceful setting, Espada was a hub for teaching trades like blacksmithing and weaving to Indigenous converts. Its original aqueduct system, part of an impressive irrigation network, still stands as a testament to Spanish engineering.
Mission San Juan, established in 1731, is known for its serene, park-like setting and simple white chapel. Originally intended as a self-sustaining community, it included farmland, living quarters, and workshops. Mission San Juan played a key role in agriculture, producing crops and goods that supported the region. Today, visitors can explore its peaceful grounds and learn about the daily life of the Indigenous people and missionaries who lived there.
Mission San José, known as the Queen of the Missions, is the largest and most stunning of San Antonio’s Spanish colonial sites. Founded in 1720, it features a beautifully carved stone church, the famous Rose Window, and original walls that once sheltered hundreds of Indigenous residents. With its rich history, restored buildings, and vibrant grounds, it offers an unforgettable glimpse into early Texas life.
A community space celebrating the UNESCO-listed San Antonio Missions, with exhibits and stories that connect the missions to the surrounding neighborhoods, culture, and history.
Mission Concepción is the best-preserved Spanish colonial church in the U.S., with original frescoes still visible after nearly 300 years. Completed in 1755, its striking twin towers and rich history make it a must-see on the San Antonio Mission Trail. This active parish offers visitors a glimpse into the vibrant culture and faith that shaped early Texas.
Alamo Plaza is home to the historic Alamo, site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo and one of Texas’s most significant landmarks, surrounded by a vibrant public square rich in culture and history.

Seeing San Antonio today for my husband Bob and my first trip to San Antonio was so exciting and very pleasant. Nancy our tour guide was full of knowledge about this town and its history. She explained all in an easy but lived the factual stories she shared with us. Couldn’t have had such a great tour guide. Nancy is a keeper.
Our tour guide Nancy was one of the best leaders we have ever experienced, and we have been traveling for decades. The passion, the history, the knowledge and the personal discussions made these a top 3 experience for us and we have been to numerous places. This tour helps the traveler understand the history of San Antonio and why these missions were build and established. From the religious aspect to the business operations, you get to explore and learn about all 5 missions. This was an incredible experience for us with a rock star tour guide. The small group experience was definitely a highlight. It was not a rushed event. PS, Please give Nancy a raise! She earned it.
Dylin was the best tour guide very knowledgeable n his forest ranger back ground made it so interesting.
Excellent morning spent with my guide Nancy. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed my trip
I had such a fantastic tour with Nancy! She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and her passion for San Antonio really came through throughout the tour. Nancy knew so much about the city’s history and shared lots of interesting stories and information along the way, which made exploring San Antonio so much more meaningful. One of my favorite parts was stopping at a fantastic local coffee shop along the way—it was such a great addition to the experience and gave me a chance to enjoy a little taste of the local scene. Nancy also went above and beyond to make sure I got a great photo at each of the missions, which I really appreciated. Those little touches made the tour feel personal and special. She also gave me some great recommendations for places to visit, eat, and explore during the rest of my stay. This tour was exactly what I was looking for while visiting San Antonio: informative, relaxed, personal, and a lot of fun. Nancy was an absolute pleasure to spend time with and made the whole experience fun, memorable, and truly special. I’d highly recommend her to anyone visiting San Antonio. Thank you, Nancy, for such a wonderful tour!
You could tell the tour guide had a deep love for the history of San Antonio and Texas. He was knowledgeable and funny. I would recommend this tour to anyone
Excellent tour! Nancy, our tour guide, was the best!!!! Informative, entertaining and engaging! She made the Missions tour a once-in-a-lifetime treat!
We had the pleasure of having Dylan on 2 different tours. He was knowledgable, engaging, and entertaining for the whole trip. He was accommodation going above and beyond his knowledge such as the best places to eat and ensuring we knew how to get back to hotel lol. Fabulous and you could not go wrong, thanks Dylan!!
We got an in-depth tour of missions with lots of info about history of missions, architecture and symbolic significance of buildings and contents, info about the church history and San Antonio itself. Our guide Nancy was an expert.
The tour was very comprehensive. We got great information about the history of the missions and the current status of the churches. Our guide Nancy was very knowledgeable and made it a point to get our input. Very good tour
We had an amazing experience with our tout guide 'Nancy' she was very nice and she knew all of the history of San Antonio and even more. She could respond at each question you had. I recomend this mission tour for everybody and specially a tour with our guide Nancy. This was one of the best highlights of my trip to San Antonio.
Nancy has a great sense of knowledge about the Missions! I learned some interesting facts. She provided ample time to take in the site and appreciate the symbols and significance of the church. She has a great personality and was engaging throughout the tour! Thanks for a great experience Nancy!!!
Nancy was warm and knowledgeable and made the whole experience very vivid! Highly recommended. She went above and beyond with her storytelling and recommendations. Enjoyed the tour with her tremendously
Request Nancy. She was, hands down, the best historical tour guide we’ve ever had in our travels. Her breadth of knowledge is expansive and she is well informed and well read on many topics beyond this particular subject matter, making her an excellent conversationalist as well as cultural guide. She knows everyone on the tours so that gave us an insider glimpse into the lives of people who work at the mission sites. I don’t know if we would have had as much fun with another guide. We learned so much! We also loved that she came prepared with big spray, water, and took photos of our family and followed up with links to further research and personal photo collages. Her passion and presentation made me want to convert to Catholicism!!
Our guide was Nancy. She was very pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. We were lucky to have just myself and my friend on the tour. Both of us appreciated her accommodations considering the extreme heat, humidity and amount of walking involved. Nancy made the history of the missions, the era and development of the region very interesting and informative. We both felt it was time and money well spent.
Nancy picked me up when she was supposed to. I toured the missions and the World Heritage Center. I was given alot of information about the missions and the purpose they served. If you want to know about the missions and understand their purpose, its a must see.
We took a guided tour of the San Antonio Missions with Nancy from Seesight, and it was hands-down the best historical tour I have ever experienced! From the very beginning, her passion and extensive knowledge of the area's history were immediately clear. What made this tour particularly brilliant was the reverse-order route. Starting at the southernmost missions and working our way north, she structured the itinerary so we started with the smaller, more incomplete sites (like Mission Espada) and built up to the fully restored grandeur of the larger missions (like Mission San Jose). This progression made the storytelling incredibly compelling, as you could physically see the scale and architecture grow while learning how the mission system evolved.Nancy’s storytelling is top-notch. She doesn't just recite dry facts; she weaves together the rich cultural tapestry of early Texas, the Spanish settlers, and the Native American communities in a way that is vivid and deeply moving. She is personable, patient with all of our questions, and ensures everyone in the group is comfortable and engaged. If you are visiting San Antonio, this is a must-do. I highly recommend requesting Nancy.
Yikes! Tour lacked accuracy and depth of knowledge. Found out guide Nancy is not a professional guide and checked information she was saying on the tour and definite inaccuracy. Van was clean, but tight fit. Did not love this experience.
Amazing trip with Nancy. Myself and my husband have travelled extensively and been on many trips but I can honestly say Nancy was the best guide / host I have ever experienced, her extensive knowledge, warm and kind manner and clear passion for what she does was unparalleled. Visiting the missions and hearing about the history of San Antonio was a highlight of our trip. 10 out of 10 you should book this trip!
I’m in San Antonio for a conference and decided to get a bit of history as well. I chose this tour because I love the concept of missions and their effect on society and culture. I also absolutely love old buildings still in use and old buildings that had seen better days. The chance to photograph old rock building with a touch of religion tossed in was one I could not pass up. Plus it was a National Park and UNESCO site. The tour company See sights furnished the van and driver/guide. First the van. It was clean, smooth and everything worked including seat belts and AC. I also appreciated the pick up right at my hotel. The guide, Nancy, was above and beyond one of the best guides I’ve ever had while on this kind of trip. She was very personable, knowable and patient with all my curious questions. She loves her job and it shows. She engages the park rangers in a way that is rarely seen in tour guides. Through her ability to bring the rangers into the tour, my experience was beyond what I expected. Usually you get a nod and welcome, but when the rangers were actually chatting about local history points or architectural marvels, you knew something special was happening. I highly recommend this tour. It was educational, fun, historic, and great photography. Do it, you won’t regret it.
Nancy was awesome. He knowledge and enthusiasm were spectacular. Started farthest away to closest to San Antonio which gave us a good feel for the area and scope of the system. Incredible history of the area. Amazing frescos, and art work as well as interesting icons and architecture. No church was the same design and all had slightly different purposes.
Our tour of the missions with SeeSights exceeded all of our expectations. Nancy, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and brought these missions to life. She shared so much with us, answered all of our questions and it was obvious how much she enjoyed her job. She was so friendly and so excited to share the missions with us. I cannot recommend this tour, this company and especially Nancy highly enough. It’s a must when you come to SanAntonio!
Wow, what an awesome experience touring the missions churches with Nancy. Little did we know that each mission had its own characteristics and role with in each community and within the overall group of missions. Not only were they spreading the faith they were also building self sufficient communities. The transfer of knowledge from the old world to the new world is so cool to learn about. Nancy’s knowledge, experience, and continual learning is incredible. She provided fabulous information, answered questions and did so in such a joyful way. Awesome tour, awesome experience, awesome guide, incredibly engaging and fun. Thank you Nancy. We highly recommend this tour!
We were at the meeting point at 9:10 AM. The tour was scheduled to leave at 9:30 AM, We waited until 10 AM and no one came to pick us up. On our paperwork said the meeting point was stated to be 515 S St. Mary's St. On the 5 pages of printout about this tour there was no phone number listed for Viator. So were we not able to call for further information. We would like a full refund. If no refund, we will contact our local TV consumer complaint advocate.
Dylan brings the history of the missions alive. Knowledgeable presentation interlaced with humor made for a great tour.
Our tour guide was Nancy and she was wonderful - she knows everything! It was the highlight of our trip to San Antonio.
Dylan was an awesome guide. Extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and open to questions. He brought a lot of life to the Missions and we came away with so much more understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of the area. One of the best tours we have ever experienced.
Nancy is an excellent tour guide who took us on a four hour tour. She provided us with detailed and interesting information about the history of four missions and how they are currently used. I strongly recommend going on this tour while you are in San Antonio.
Nancy was incredibly knowlwgable about all aspects of the history of the missions, but even more importantly, she was entertaining, personable, and considerate of her customers' needs. We've taken many tours here and abroad. Nancy ranks at the very top.
Nancy was excellent. She is very knowledgeable, very personable, and tailored the tour to our areas of interest. We really enjoyed it. We will ask for Nancy on our next tour. Highly recommend it !
Guide kept calling that she was stuck in traffic because of a parade. After one hour of waiting, I called her to cancel. This parade happens every year. Very disappointing!
Nancy was an amazing tour guide! She was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We had a wonderful experience on our tour of the San Antonio missions!
Nancy was absolutely incredible! Her tour was by far one of the highlights of our trip. She was extremely knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information that really brought everything to life. You can tell she truly loves what she does her energy was joyful, engaging, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Her car was very comfortable, which made getting around easy and relaxing. Out of all the tours we took, Nancy’s stood out the most we would highly recommend her over any other tour. If you’re looking for a memorable, informative, and fun experience, she’s the one to book! The picture attached is the collage she made for our family. She goes above and beyond definitely.
We really enjoyed our tour with Nancy. This is a great way to easily see all the missions and get insight into their history. Nancy is fun, enthusiastic, and takes care to make sure the tour is engaging for everyone. She takes great photos which is shared after the tour, it was the highlight of our trip to San Antonio.
Nancy was an absolute gem of a guide. She had so much information at each of the missions and patiently answered any and all questions we had. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
Very personable, very entertaining, very knowledgeable, a delightful tour. Bested every expectation. Thank you Nancy.
Nancy was a wonderful trip shepherd So knowledgeable about San Antonio & the missions we saw Sent us photos he took of us
Nancy was a wonderful & very knowledgeable "trip shepherd" Ask for her on any guided excursions in San Antonio
We cannot say enough about this tour. A small group made it perfect to be able to really participate and ask questions. The missions are all beautiful and each one has a special reason to be "the favorite" on the tour. Dylan is amazing! First, you could tell that this was not just a job but a passion for him. He was well informed and invited questions and conversation. He had so much interesting and fun information to share but was also willing to say he didn't know something if stumped by a question. Second, he was highly respectful of culture and property as well as of all of us on the tour. Third, when we arrived at each location, the park rangers knew him and greeted him warmly - I mention this because a lot of tours are more of a hassle for people to deal with and it was obvious that no one felt this was about Dylan, and therefore, us, so we too were welcomed in. Pick up was easy - right at our hotel door and we had wonderful communication as to when he would be arriving. I highly recommend this tour. Flying back home on the plane my husband and I both agreed that it was a highlight of our trip. Take this tour. You will be happy you did!
My first visit to San Antonio was a wonderful experience filled with rich history and vibrant culture. Exploring the city with our guide Nancy, gave me a real appreciation for its unique history. Nancy’s knowledge of San Antonio’s history and her genuine passion brought every story to life. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our tour with Alex to the full. Not only is he a careful driver, but also a passionate professionnal of a guide, highly knowledgeable, hugely dependable and recommendable. Our students loved the experience and this well-documented Mission tour ! Our renewed thanks to Alex for his outstanding work ! Pierre de Paris 🇫🇷🌟
Our experience far exceeded our expectations. Picked up at our hotel on time; Mercedes van; four unique missions; and an incredibly knowledgeable guide. Dylan knows his stuff; both of us learned a great deal from this affable, professional young guide. Recommend him and his tour highly.
Dylan was an amazing guide and this tour provides a glimpse of the hidden gems of the National Park’s Missions that are outside the usual ones people visit. Dylan was knowledgeable and told stories in a way that was engaging and easy to remember. I know now how Cow Boys came about! His attention to detail as we explored each site brought history alive and was told with sensitivity that sometimes gets lost as we talk about Missions and their impacts on a place and space. For my mother, who is hard of hearing, Dylan took extra care to be sure she could hear and was comfortable between stops. If you want to see beyond the ‘usual’ and visit the off the beaten track missions, this is the tour for you - and if you are lucky to have Dylan as your guide you will not be disappointed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Nancy. She was knowledgeable and very personable. It felt like time with a friend and her passion for the history was evident. The tour was a good length and a great way to see and learn about the Missions.
Great, in-depth tour of the four San Antonio Missions. Traveling from south to north, walk around and into each of the mission grounds and churches. Gain an understanding of the history of pre-Texas history.
Dylan was absolutely amazing and fun. I highly recommend him and the tour. We had a blast would highly suggest
Our tour of the San Antonio missions was one of the best tours we have ever taken. The tour guide, Nancy, was very knowledgeable and placed the mission enterprise into a helpful historic and cultural context. She has an obvious passion for history that made the tour very enjoyable. She also noted the unique architectural details of each of the missions and showed us how the aqueduct system created by the settlers and the native people supported agriculture in the region. In addition to her deep understanding of the missions, Nancy is a very nice person and we were grateful to have met her. Very highly recommended.
Nancy was a lovely guide, highly recommend! Of note, the Missions are spaced apart from each other so have some flexibility for the time immediately after the tour in case of traffic.
We went on the UNESCO Premium Mission Tour and had a wonderful time. Nancy was amazing and truly knowledgable in the history of the area. She made the experience comfortable, relaxing, and educational. Would highly recommend!
