Private Sunset Cruise South Padre Island

I bought my parents a private sunset cruise for their 45th anniversary, which was August 1st. I was very excited for them to have a romantic time alone on the water. They showed up on time and were told to sit and wait with a crowd until their boat was ready. After the captains loaded the large group, they then shuffled my parents onto the same boat knowing full well they had their own separate private small boat reserved. My parents are approaching 70 and my dad is partially deaf, so they didn't know what else to do except follow the employee's orders who had even seen their ticket. They spent their anniversary with 40 other strangers. So they never got their private cruise and their anniversary is now past. When I called SPI Excursions, they said they would look into it but they never called me back. When I called the next day, they simply said my money had already been refunded, so the problem had been resolved. Of course, I hadn't been refunded yet, so I had to call Viator to actually ensure I received that. They never responded to Viator's email with an explanation nor provided them one on the phone and they refused to give me one. I'm extremely upset and disappointed and don't understand how this could have happened and why there is zero accountability from SPI Excursions. Their complete nonchalance to the situation is astounding. It's even more sad because my husband and I took that same private cruise back in 2020 and had a great time, which is why I thought it would be a good gift for my parents. But I guess things can change considerably in 6 years. I will never book anything with this company again, not directly nor through a third party, considering their complete lack of organization and lack of care about rendering services paid for. Buyer BEWARE.

Devin was awesome!! He made my family and ourself feel real.comfortable and we really enjoyed our boat ride. Next time we come we will definitely do this again.

Beautiful experience. We were able to see a few dolphins. Our host was friendly and showed us different things around the water and island. Enjoyed this cruise and if we ever come back, we will definitely rebook! Best part of our trip.

This is a great private option to get a water tour of the island! Our captain was very knowledgeable and took us to see a lot of dolphins. One thing to note is that you will get soaked. It was fine the majority but we went so fast on the way back that I was drenched.

It was a wonderful private cruise around the bay in the evening. Highly recommend for couples or families.

Captain Brady was very knowledgeable & told us all about South Padre Island. We saw many dolphins, SpaceX & had a great sunset cruise. This was a private cruise only for our family. Totally worth every penny of it.

Great sunset cruise experience, our driver was the son of the owners and he really knew his stuff. We ended up following some dolphins so we could see them, definitely a highlight of the weekend. The sunset was gorgeous. An hour and a half was a good amount of time but I wish it could’ve been closer to two hours. I think he got around 6:20 PM, just shy of the hour and a half mark. Important to note in my opinion that SPI excursions is affiliated with Lobo Del Mar restaurant, which I did not realize at the time of booking.

This experience was wonderful! We were celebrating my dad’s 80th birthday. He loved learning about the area and being able to ask questions. Captain Kevin was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Intractive wild life sunset cruise. Grandbabies had a blast! They enjoy walking to go find sand dollars. What they found was a lot of shells with hermit crabs in them. That experience thrilled them. They enjoyed being in the water exploring nature.

Amazing experience… boat driver was entertaining and gave us great facts and places to visit, we saw an incredible amount of dolphins and the sand dollar hunting was amazing. Highly recommend P.S. can the boat driver please send us the pictures he took at sunset, we totally forgot to get them from him thank you!

Do NOT do this!!! Trashy company trashy captain. Very unprofessional. Called to notify of running behind for a PRIVATE sunset boat ride due to a slow check at a restaurant. If you are 1 min late from checking in they will cancel your trip and charge you, even if you call to notify. Don't bother booking with this company. They are garbage and low class. Plenty of other business on the island.

The best and only excursion you need. I wish I had booked this every day of my trip. We got to see lots of dolphins and he took us to a sand dune to look for sanddollars. Hands down best ever and will rebook again.

This was a great experience! Kids and teenagers enjoyed the water, dolphin sightings and sand dollar hunting. Great photos at the end during sunset!

This excursion was fantastic! Our guide was friendly and professional. The tour was just 5 stars all the way around. We saw dolphins, bird island, sea snails, we learned about the history of the island. It was WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

We all had a great time! Recommend to anyone wanting a great view of all the sites from the bay on a nice boat!

This was the second time we did this cruise and it was amazing again! Brady was the captain and he was very informative and made sure to find out what we wanted to see.

The cruise was absolutely amazing. The captain (sorry, we didn’t catch his name) was so knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of my husband’s many questions and gave history and details on all of our sights. He ensued we got pictures with the sunset. It was truly a great experience.

Great private sunset cruise! Capt Brady was very personable, and knowledgeable about SPI history. There was a lot of dolphins sighting. He provided some great tips to other places to visit on the island. Highly recommended tour!
