Private Bay Fishing South Padre Island

Excellent fishing adventure where we caught our limit. Captain Capo was the perfect guide! He knew exactly where to fish and was highly knowledgeable about the trip.

We were vacationing with family members for our 43rd wedding anniversary. Chapo was an amazing guide and put us right on top of the red fish! We had the first 4 tagged fish caught within 30 minutes with only 2 poles hitting the water. I cannot tell you how many big fish we through back, guessing 15 to 20, and ended up having 9 that were small enough to keep. I would have to say, that was a first for us! Normally we catch the ones to small to keep back home in Oklahoma. It was an amazing adventure, and we also had dolphins playing around our boat that were so fun to watch. I am so glad we made the drive and were able to get such an amazing guide. When we got in to dock, Chapo's boys were their to help. He also was the one to clean our fish. Please, if you love to fish as we do, this is the place to book.

Our guide Chapo truly knows his way on the water. Our family of six arrived at his “secret”spot at sunrise, and we started catching fish right away. Caught our limit of 30 fish In an hour and a half. Everyone loved this experience!

Had a blast with Captain Chapo. Started off the morning 6/21 on black drum He put us right on the fish and we limited out quick. Then changed to trout almost limited out in a couple hours but birds were killing the bait before they could dive so came up just short on our limit. We caught multiple other species (sheepshead, flounder, and red drum) they were just not big enough to keep. We were constantly catching fish or changing places to fish. Definitely going to come back. Maybe try a guided shark fishing trip with Chapo next time.

We had the best Captain and Fishing Experience. Our Guide and Activities Coordinator Chapo is the best!!!! We had great instructions before , and during our visit to South Padre Island and SPI Excursions. We were pulling in our fish before you knew it, all while dodging the rain drops. You won’t be disappointed!!

We were referred by Jessica our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. Chappo was nice and friendly and made the trip a blast. It was the highlight of our trip.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with South Padre Island Excursions! We went out fishing with Chapo, and within just a couple of hours we had already limited out — it doesn’t get much better than that. From start to finish, everything was handled with total professionalism, and you can tell they truly know what they’re doing. Every trip we’ve taken with them has been nothing short of amazing — they always seem to find the fish and make the whole experience fun and effortless. If you’re in town, this is an absolute must-do. 10/10, we’ll definitely be back again!

Took my kids fishing (12,15,18), they don't have much fishing experience but Bradey was awesome and was very helpful, so much so that we limited out on Black Drum inside 90 minutes. He put us right on the fish and we all had a blast!

Had a wonderful trip. Our guide Choppo was phenomenal. We enjoyed a great day on the boat on our father days excursion. They even had the option to fillet and cook the fish caught on site. Which we definitely chose which was a great option for lunch.

So friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and we cought anton of fish!!!! Our guide Chapo is great. Clean boat !!! Great fishing advice, great food after a day of fishing too!!!

Great fishing trip. Caught a lot of fish. Captain was great. We would definitely book this trip again. Had fish cooked at restaurant that we caught it was cooked to perfection.

Brady was kind and made a good effort to try to find the fish when we went out. We were disappointed that the fishing was no good and the water was rough. It was too windy. We also weren’t told that the first day we booked would be canceled due to wind until after 9 PM when we made multiple efforts to contact them. We spent extra money and time on fishing license for the day when we didn’t go. The communication should have been better.

Captain Chapo was great! Caught our limit1 They called us to come early because the fish were biting - very respectful! Restaurant at harbor made us fish tacos from our catch. Delicious!

Chopo is GREAT! He knows the bay very well and took us right to the fish. It didn't take anytime at all before we started catching fish. He is very patient, gives great instructions, and easy to get along with. I would not use anyone else in the future.

Amazing trip even though the weather was a bit cold. Our host was awesome and took time in guiding and showing everyone tips and tricks.

Had an absolutely phemonel experience bay fishing with SPI Excursions and Caption Chapo! He put us on a huge school of reds, and we limited out on trout -- all by 9am! Not only was Chapo professional, knwledgeable and friendly, but the whole Lobo del Mar family was fantastic! We brought our fish back that evening to be cooked, and it was absolutely delicious! Can not recommend this company and family enough! 10 out of 10!

Great Experience - Capt Brady and his first mate were amazing, we had so much fun and we all caught at least 5 fish each - about 25 total for our group of 5. Everyone was happy. We enjoyed our adventure.

We have gone several times this past 2023- 2024 winter fishing with guide, Chapo, from SPI excursions. He is most helpful and courteous on the boat, changes locations frequently to find the fish and does a fabulous job cleaning the fish. Lobo Del Mar, where SPI excursion is located, even prepares the fresh caught fish and makes delicious fish tacos to make for a fine and memorable experience. We will definitely book future excursions with Chapo. Thanks again Chapo!!

I love that they charge 1 price to go out, they provided everything, all we had to do was show up! Nice clean boat, very professional set up (the activities are all part of the Lobo Del Mar restaurant ) great guide and beautiful area to fish.

CHAPO our fishing guide was awesome. He knows all the ins and outs on bay fishing. Very popular within all the guides. I strongly recommend him for your next fishing tour. We had a blast.

We had a great time with Chapo (spelling?). It was just my husband and our two kids - ages 7 and 11. Chapo was very good with the kids making sure that they didn't pull their lines in too early and also encouraging them when they had a bite. Chapo watched the other fishing boats to see where they were getting bites and made sure to maneuver to where we were most likely to get a catch. We caught several large black drum and also some croaker. Chapo also made sure to fillet our fish and recommend where to take it to get it cooked for us. He was a wonderful guide and we cannot recommend him and SPI Excursions enough!

Nice relaxing fishing trip! Captain Chapo took us to a lot of spots and was knowledgeable about the area and fish. We got enough fish we had Lobo Del Mar Cafe make us some yummy fish tacos. Had a nice time! Definitely recommend.

Fished the bay & the jetties with Brady. He worked very hard & continuously to put us on the fish. We docked at Lobo Del Mar and he delivered our catch to the kitchen. The Redfish was blackened and plated as fish taco's and was delicious. I would choose Brady and SPI Excursions again. It was very pleasurable Spring weather, even saw some Dolphins too.

Chapo was great. He was very patient with the kids. I would definitely recommend SPI Excursions for guided fishing for kids.

Guess what WE DID NOT CATCH ANY FISH!!!! The ppl that manage this place should know when the weather is not good for fishing. That's the reason that we where the only boat out there, bc everyone else go the message and cancel. # 2 I did send a message to find out if the trip will b cancel bc we were concerned about the weather, but ya didn't and you are in the business of fishing????, instead ya asked to upgrade according to ya it will b better due to the weather and help catch more fish, instead of canceling. What kind of crap is that???// bc were out there litter freezing going to different spots and all of them with no luck NO 1 fish. Believe this is not the 1st time we go fishing and never we came out without anything. STOP STEALING PPL MONEY!!!!!!

We spent a chilly morning fishing with Brady. He worked very hard to find some fish and get them in the boat. While the fish weren’t biting well we still managed to land a large black drum, a ray, and some catfish. The best part was seeing all the beautiful wildlife including the dolphins and sea turtle. Thanks for the hard work Brady!

Wasn't sure when we signed up for the trip, but any doubts were gone once we hit the water. Chapo was an excelent guide and put us on the Sheep Head right off. We caught fish and our wives saw Dolphin. The 4 hour trip was just right with the cool breeze. Also, stop at the resturant for a fine meal before of after your trip.

Fishing trip was fantastic! Caught fish and had a great experience! Captain Brady was great! Would recommend him for your SPI activities. We recommend him for our sunset boat cruise. Thanks again to the Lobo family!
