It was a fun experience! The clues were challenging but not impossible. It was a fun way to see different parts of the city.
It was SO fun! My 9 yr was super into the story, and it was such a fun family afternoon. I think the riddles were challenging but approachable. I liked that they took some time to solve, because it took the pressure off rushing and wasn't a 'race' format where you feel like you should run from point to point. That gave us time to stop and eat lunch while reviewing the clues and just enjoy the sights. I think it did a great job of weaving real-world landmarks and game pieces together. We were a little sad when it was over, but the timing was also perfect. Not too much, not too little, it was just the right amount of time. Love the whole concept, thanks for a fun family day!
Nice challenge and pleasant walk. Everything worked well. Enjoyed the interjection of historical facts. Advise others to make a longer game of it and stop to eat and drink along the way.
We had a fun time figuring out the puzzles and walking around downtown. We didn't use any hints, but we often go to Esacpe Rooms. We ran into three other families playing too. It was fun!
So so fun!! Needed hints on a few but had an amazing time solving the puzzles. It took us a little over 2 hours - highly recommend!!
We had so much fun doing this outdoor escape room. It was much more difficult than I was expecting! However, we had our 7 and 8 year olds with us. Our 8-yo was really into it while we had to drag our 7-yo along, lol. Overall, would do another!!
We live in Houston and this was a really fun deviation to normal life.. and it made me stop and look around the city and notice a few things i never have. The storyline is a bit silly but the puzzles and delivery of the story was top of the line professional. This is not a back-of-garage product. The whole adventure took us about three hours and that was with a couple beers along the way. The adventure kept us moving but the amount of walking was super reasonable, even in hot weather. I can’t wait to try out adventures in other cities too!!
It was fun - we did it with two adults and two older teens (17 & 18.5). We chose a beautiful Sunday afternoon to wander the city of Houston. Only one snag - the information for the 2nd clue was missing from the in-person venue. I asked for a hint and then had to ask for the answer on that one. The rest of the clues were just challenging enough to be fun, and we didn’t need any more hints. Our family loves solving puzzles and playing strategy board games. I loved how it had us wandering the streets of Houston - we saw quite a bit of beautiful street art in addition to the parts that you incorporated. We ran into another family doing the same thing at the same time as us (recognized their box when they were at one of the clues). I liked your commentary on the art/locations… I can’t remember what you called it on the website, but maybe call it a “Shout-Out” or something more obvious that you also offer a little look-and-learn commentary… I think you just called it “look,” “”look around,” or even “look-and-learn." Favorite part: I honestly loved that it had us traversing the outdoors in our own city in a different way. Maybe explain that more than one person can be scanning the codes and following the clues… that definitely helped. AND it was a great way to spend the day using technology to do things, but it not being the focus.
The escape game was great. We really liked the different puzzles and the material in the box. We had no technical problems and easily understood what we needed to do despite English not being our language. It was really great and we’ll definitely do it in another city like Austin or Dallas!
We really loved this!! We found it somewhat difficult, but I've only done this once before and it was in a room! Having this outside was genius!! Our favorite was the pillar and the sculpture! The whole thing was orchestrated amazingly, and we had a blast!! We will definitely do this again!! Thanks for the opportunity to have this much fun!!

My husband and I had sooooo much fun doing this together. We cant wait to play it in other cities. 10/10. Highly recommend!!!
This was so fun! Very creative and the puzzles were challenging but not too challenging. I love how we found clues in real world spots and even the walking was the perfect amount. This was well thought out and fun- great job, creators🙂
We stayed downtown for a couple of Astros games and this scavenger hunt was super convenient. You can do it on your own pace and take breaks to eat or drink at the local restaurants and bars. It's about 10-15 blocks of easy walking and we got to see some cool places in the area that I hadn't visited, despite many trips to Houston. The puzzles were just the right difficulty and you can get free hints if you want them. I highly recommend this experience and would look for this company again.
We took our kids, 12, 9, and 7. I worried about it being too hard and them ending up not having fun. That was NOT the case! We used more hints for some, but I think about half we were able to get on our own. When we finished they all said they’d had a great time and wished it had lasted longer. It took us 2.5 hours, we had beautiful weather, and would definitely recommend it!
As individuals that have done over 150 escape rooms, so we did not find it too difficult, but LOVED the integration of the puzzles with the city and the fun facts we learned along the way. We truly enjoyed the "Southern Living" wordsmith puzzle -- it gave us the most challenge and we love a good challenge. Our friend sent this to us as a gift as we are new to Houston, and he knows we love escape rooms. Favorite part of the game was definitely walking around old town Houston and learning more about the city while solving puzzles.
The whole concept was so clever! We really had so much fun solving the clues around Downtown. The clues were all challenging, which was great and it was an awesome way to explore a part of the city we have never been to! We will definitely do other Escapely challenges when we travel. Excellent family fun!!
My sisters and I are huge escape room enthusiasts and we have lived in the Houston area our whole lives so we thought let's try this! I've been the only one of the 3 of us to have ever had the privilege of working downtown so I said I wanted to share a fun experience with them before we started and it ended up being in the same location of the first clue! We really enjoyed the puzzles. They were fun to solve but not overly challenging (for these escape room experts at least!) which was nice because you will find yourself standing or sitting outside in the Texas heat to solve some of them! We did enjoy a treat at one of the restaurants while solving a puzzle and a drink at another one, so we took longer to finish the mystery but the journey and sister bonding was worth it! One of my sisters said "I'm really glad we did that, I would have never walked around Historic Downtown Houston like this" and we giggled about the tallest building at 5 stories (they have facts about the locations you visit after solving the puzzles!) All and all, we would recommend this to friends and we plan on trying some of the others, specifically the Texas ones since we do travel to Austin & San Antonio often!
We absolutely loved our adventure through downtown Houston! The storyline was fun and campy, and took us about 3hrs at a leisurely pace (had a couple drinks, read some plaques, etc.). The clues took a little bit of work, but were not overly difficult. We live in Houston and regularly spend time downtown, but you don't need to be overly familiar with the city to enjoy the game. Playing with two was great, but I probably wouldn't go more than four people at a time. Let your other friends play separately. The game got us to explore a little more than what we knew and have a fun afternoon doing something different. Highly recommended! We're even planning on doing some adventures in cities we visit often.
We purchased the game as a birthday gift. All is in the provided box, and the instructions are easy to follow. The difficulty level is medium, and if need be, the hints are there. We walked in a part of downtown we’ve never been, and we’re happy to discover !! We recommend if you have out-of-town visitors, or like us, you want to see more of your own city!
Had a great time! I loved the collaboration with the team. Overall, just had a blast. I loved the way the downtown environment was used. Would highly recommend to everyone. Looking forward to doing it again.
I bought the Escapely outdoor escape room box on a whim, and were pleasantly surprised; we had an absolute blast and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I had no idea what to expect, but we were really impressed by the quality of the puzzles and of the build quality of the components in the box. I like the hint system, and how they progressively get more helpful and cover a wide variety of circumstances. For instance, for one puzzle we didn't necessarily want any hints, we just couldn't find the real-world object, so I like how there's an option to just show you what you're looking for if you struggle to find it without spoiling the puzzle itself. It felt like we were on an actual adventure, going from one puzzle to the next and piecing together this fun narrative. We had some great "ah-ha!" moments when we discovered something. We felt so smart and cool when we figured it out. It was a pretty unique moment to have with friends. We have nothing but positive things to say about the quality of the components inside the box, and the puzzles were super clever and unique. I really like how there's a story that ties the whole thing together—in this case, you're rushing to catch an outlaw on the lose. While the narrative won't blow you away with its depth, it's perfect for this sort of thing. Thank you for providing my friends and I such a fun evening in Houston!
This is a super fun adventure box! It’s basically escape room puzzles and a walking tour wrapped up in one tailored to the city itself—it’s not just generic puzzles but is instead full of the quirks of the city itself. I’ve lived downtown for about ten years but I still learned a bunch of cool things about my neighborhood and got my steps in at the same time.
My friend and I did this together for our first visit to Houston, and wanted to tour the city without it feeling like a boring typical tour. We had a blast, it was exactly what we wanted! We got to know the city, have fun, and go at our own pace. We made a fun day of it by doing little stops here and there for drinks along the way. The clues were fun, not too easy and not too hard. It's the style you get at a regular indoor escape room, but much more fun being outside! The cool part too was once you would get to the next stop and solve the clue, it also gave you a little blurb of history of the place you were at. So you were seeing and learning about the city in a fun and unique way! I would definitely do it again in another city!
The puzzles were great and we enjoyed how they incorporated clues from real world, such as local businesses. We even got to see parts of Downtown Houston that we didn't know, and we got to learn some history too. The videos made it fun too. One of the establishments that we had to stop by to get a clue was in an area that didn't feel totally safe, so be aware of your surroundings and do this activity during the day if at all possible. I played with my husband and young adult children, and we think the difficulty of the game is about 6 out of 10.
Escapely has created interesting puzzles which are just hard enough to be fun. My grown daughter and I had a wonderful time walking around downtown Houston solving puzzles. We didn’t need any hints except for one puzzle but it was nice that there are hints to guide you to the solution and even the solution and explanation if you need it. When we were tired we could stop for a drink without any penalty. From the minute we opened the box, we could tell that lots of thought and work went into making a fun game. The game leads you to different locations where there are pieces of the puzzle. You can’t solve the puzzles without being there. The locations are close together so there is walking but not too much. I have been to a lot of escape rooms and many times there are problems with things not working properly. This game had no issues like that. I highly recommend Escapely.
