Ike was so amazing - never had a better facilitator before. He made it educational, fun, and a total joy. I would recommend this event to anyone but especially would recommend to request Ike!

Fun, fun day! Ike was the perfect host/chauffeur…lots of Dad jokes, laughter and musicality! Highly recommend!
Loved the small group. Ike got everyone to introduce themselves and it was fun to see how much everyone had in common. Be prepared to pick a favorite party song to play on the way home.
Fun day at the hill country guide was excellent and the stops were all good highly recommend the tour
A brilliant day seeing another side to Austin / Texas. Great food and great wine. Brilliant chance to meet new people - we spent the rest of the day with half of the other guests! Evan was knowledgeable and engaging, telling entertaining stories and sharing new facts. Best day out and a highlight of our trip - which after being at the F1 for the weekend, speaks volumes!
This tour was great! Jax was full of information about the BBQ and wine! Very relaxed pace and enjoyable! Would definitely recommend.
We had such a fun experience with Luke! He's a great tour guide. The wineries & BBQ were the perfect outing for our business trip. Cheers!
We really enjoyed this tour! Joel was a great guide! He was really entertaining while providing lots of interesting information! A+++
Ike was fantastic, so fun and the strangers we started off with became friends.
The tour was so much fun thanks to Joel! We made some new friends, had good BBQ and drank good wine! I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something to do outside of downtown Austin.
Our tour guide, Brent, was great! He made the trip fun and informative. The BBQ at the Saltlick was great! The two winery stops were perfect as a follow up to the lunch at Saltlick.
I did this as a solo trip to meet new people and drink great wine. It was so much fun. I highly recommend the experience.
This is a wonderful calm experience that involves great food and wine. We had Joey Zimmerman and he was awesome . I definitely recommend doing it again with him.
Joey was amazing, i would recommend this tour to anybody! 10/10. Get Joey for your tour for sure! Come and enjoy
Wonderful experience! Great BBQ and lovely wineries. Nice people too! Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Highly recommend!
We had a small group tour starting in Austin driving out to the Hill Country. We had never been outside Austin and wasn't aware that there was a wine country region (Texas Hill Country) near Ausitn about an hour away. Frist stop was the eat lunch at the Salt Lick BBQ restaurant in Driftwood. BBQ was amazing where you'd want The Thurman's Choice plate of brisket (best in the world), Pork Ribs and Sausage or splurge for a Family Style (everything) with all sides being delicious. If you want wine with your meal then walk back to the Salt Lick Cellars (tasting room with souvenirs) building behind the restaurant. We ordered the Salt Lick BBQ Red wine since it sounded like it should be with a BBQ plate (very tasty). We also bought some flavored olive oils that were awesome. We crossed the street to the Fall creek Vineyards. A high-end small winery (low production) with nice wines but a little pricy for the value of the wine they produce (closer to Napa prices). Then drove to Duchman Family Winery that is a large scale winery with high production yields, large selections of various wines and rental facilities for events. The wines are very affordable for the quality of wines they produce. We were surprised that we enjoyed many of the wines since we tasted all of the ones they had opened, We then joined their wine club to have a case of wine shipped to Georgia a few times a year (cost per bottle with shipping fee was way below local wine store prices of comparable wines so that was a no brainer decision). That was the tour so if you love great Texas BBQ and wine the this is your tour. And think about joining a wine club if you can since it helps local family owned wineries to stay in business and also provides you with interesting/hard to obtain wines to share with your friends (or not).
From the moment we entered the Visitor's Center until the tour concluded, the experience was beyond wonderful! Our guide, Mike Wallace, was so professional but at the same time so funny, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. My husband is handicapped, and Mike went so much out of his way to help make him comfortable and safe during the entire tour. We learned so many interesting facts about Austin in general as well as the Hill Country. The wineries were beautiful and the staff members were pleasant and helpful. I just can't express adequately how much we enjoyed this experience. Thank you Viator and Mike for the special memories!!! Jamie
After a rough start, we had a great afternoon of barbecue and wine with Evan, our driver and tour guide extraordinaire. Our tickets did not mention meeting at the visitors center. So we started at the wrong location but the tour improved once we connected with Evan and our group. The barbecue and sides were delicious at Salt Lick. The two winery’s we visited provided a great tasting experience. Evan is an engaging, fun tour guide who gave us the history of the sites we visited and more. This was an enjoyable half day excursion into Texas Hill Country! I recommend Hill Country BBQ and Wine with Detour Travel.
I loved this tour. I booked a tour for my mom and I to celebrate her birthday. This was her first time in Austin and this tour was a great way to experience a few Austin highlights. Austin detours says that you will come a strangers and leave his friends and that is absolutely true. Evan did an amazing job getting to know each of us individually, creating group activities during the ride, and driving conversation between the tour participants. After our tour half of the participants met later to go line dancing and have a night out on the town!
It was a relaxed and fun trip. Wished we had extra time to tour Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood instead of just having lunch. Winding through the scenic Texas Hill Country leading to local wineries offered incredible views and good local pours. Connor did a really good job keeping us entertained.
Ike was an EXCELLENT guide! He was fun and very knowledgeable. The food and wine were some of the best. I highly recommend this tour.
The Salt Lick BBQ was excellent, decently priced, and you go early so not busy. Don't get the All You Can Eat option, the sides are great too, so you don't need to overdo it to be full. $50 at the first winery was too much, and they weren't as good as their medals. Second winery was better/good, and less expensive. Overall great trip. Our tour guide was engaging and fun, the whole trip was good and fun.
Brent did a great job! He was very informative and took us to several great places. We really enjoyed the wineries and the barbecue!
This tour was so much fun! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. And personable .the barbecue at salt Lake was delicious. I particularly loved the Dutch man winery. The tasting experience was phenomenal. I could honestly say I would do this tour again.
What a fun time we had with Ike. This tour was perfect to get us out of the city for a day. The BBQ at Salt Lick was fantastic, we also enjoyed our time at the wineries. Ike made it fantastic!
Jax the guide was wonderful!!! Salt Lick right as they open was great. Driftwood winery was so quaint and friendly…and 6 pours were nice! The next winery had a beautiful setting, but white wine tasting only got us 2 wines. Disappointing in comparison. It was a great day with my family though.
Excellent tour. Ike was so knowledgeable and fun, we had a great time. The BBQ was amazing and the wine fantastic with beautiful views. Thank you Ike!!!
This was such a fun trip!! Our guide Evan was hilarious, informative and a lot of fun. The BBQ was delicious, and the wineries beautiful. Travel was easy and comfortable. Definitely recommend this adventure 🍷
Evan was incredible as a guide with his knowledge of the history of the Hill Country and various businesses we visited. He was also accommodating to my mobility issues.
If you havnt done Austin, if you're travelling from interstate or overseas then this is the #1 experience to do... can not recommend more highly. Thanks for the memories! Just a couple of Aussie girls having a blast... cheers
Ike is amazing! Will go again with family I. Town. Book book book!
The drive in the hill country and stops at the vineyards (2) and Salt Lick were great. We all enjoyed ourselves. Jax’s was a great host and provided a lot of details about the area.
We had such a great time on this tour! The food at Salt Lick was amazing, the wine at Driftwood and Duchmann's was phenomenal, and Joel our guide and driver was the best! He was kind, knowledgeable about the area and its history, and made sure we were able to enjoy ourselves. Would absolutely do this again!
Loved the day trip! David is a fantastic guide and our tour was a great time! The drive distance is not bad at all and David entertains and educates guests as you go along. Wines are good and can’t go wrong with Salt Lick BBQ. Don’t miss a great tee shirt there! Will take another tour with same group next time I’m in Austin.
Great host, and relaxing tour, good food, fun Texas wine tasting. Learned a lot about Texas wine grapes and wines.
Kelty was an amazing tour guide. Very informative of the local history and activities, and made the whole experience so much fun. Both vineyards were beautiful, and the wine tastings were wonderful. I think The Salt Lock served the best brisket I have ever had. Five stars, all around. Thank you!
Joel is an amazing guide. I enjoyed every moment. We had a great experience with the other people on the shuttle. Both vineyards offered quality wines.
This winery and BBQ trip as fantastic. The wineries were impressive and the food was great! Jax was a wonderful tour guide and very knowledgeable.
Kelty was great! Phenomenal tour guide – I enjoyed her knowledge about the region and Austin. Her advice about our stops, including tips for lunch and how to be successful and manage time at the wineries was super helpful. The Salt Lick was great – awesome food and the two wineries were fun! It was a perfect day!
Ask to travel with IKE!! He us absolutely amazing and wear shorts and something cool. Ask for the moist brisket if you stop by Salt Licks Bar b Que.
Our group had a great time. The bbq lunch was delicious and both wine tastings were planned ahead so no waiting even though there were 10 of us. It was lovely to be driven around with descriptions of area, history info and stories as we went.
Horrible. We texted them 45 mins before to let them know that there was a car crash and we would be 10 mins late. They didn’t respond at all and we showed up 8 mins late. They already left. Responded over an hour later said they called me 4 times. I have no missed called why would I email them if they weren’t going to answers. I been with Viator for several years and this is the first time I’ve dealt with unprofessional people. Never again.
It's was perfect and we learned a lot about Austin and neighbourhoods. We saw very nice scenery in the Hill's countryside
Brent was a great tour guide and was very wordilicious and knowledgeable. Had a great time and never felt in a rush. 10/10 lovely experience.
Saw so much great country and tested two fabulous wineries. Loved lunch at Salt Lick. Our van group was so much fun and we quickly became travel buds. Thank you Kelly!!!
This tour was really fun and educational about the area... our tour guide, Joey, was knowledge, interesting and entertaining. The Salt Lick BBQ food was wonderful . We highly recommend the brisket which melted in our mouth . It was also fun to see the big bbq spit where all the meat was BBQ’d. The driftwood winery had beautiful views. Both wineries had good wine and pretty grounds .. Joey made sure everyone had information they requested to satisfy other interests .. We highly recommend this tour.
Joey was the guide and entertainment. He's very knowledgeable of the area and gives out great recommendations 👍. He's laid back and easy going and takes you to 3 great spots. He's like that funny DD when you need one.
Evan Ford was the perfect guide for our last day in Austin. Amazing! Highly recommend this tour ! BBQ…winery!
Very fun with a visit to Salt Lick bbq for delish food and 2 wineries. Joey our tour guide was knowledgable and fun!
This was a fun tour and our guide Joey made it even better! He's a wealth of knowledge, helpful and fun! Highly recommend!
