Downtown Mural Tour

You will see between 30 and 40 incredible murals, each with a story behind them shared by Marna, the wonderful guide. Open air electric transport with stops to take photos and get up close with these enormous works of art contribute to this incredible tour. Exactly 2 hours and there is a Part 2 because you cannot see them all in that time. Great Sunday afternoon activity playing tourist in my own city. I’ll be inviting out is town guests to this unique houston experience.

Marna was a great tour host! Since one of the murals was near the Courtyard Marriott Downtown, she picked us up by gold cart. We enjoyed hearing about the Houston and mural histories.

Our group works in downtown Houston. It was fun to learn more about the murals we see everyday. We went on a Sunday morning which was great since traffic was light.

The downtown mural tour gave us a deeper appreciation for Houston’s diverse culture. Our guides Marna and partner did a good job driving us around and describing the meanings and symbols of the commissioned art pieces.

We saw the murals the host took us to, but found others as we rode around the city. The hosts were very nice and had knowledge about what the murals represented. I was impressed upon hearing how the United Nations helps the artists reach the goal. Beautiful work

The tour operator did a great job of explaining the meaning of each mural. It was a very enjoyable experience and we will definitely do it again in the future as other family members come to visit. My cousins were here from out of town and took tons of post worthy pics!

Our tour guide Marna was amazing. She drove us around downtown Houston in just over 90 minutes to show us the beautiful murals. Marna knows exactly which highlights to share, making her story short and to the point. Yet, she still has answers to any in-depth questions.

This was such a great experience. I feel like this may be something people from out-of-town schedule, but this was amazing for us, who are locals, as well. It's amazing what you don't pick up on until it's shown to you. I truly enjoyed all of Marna's information on the murals we saw. You can tell she's very passionate about learning more and more and sharing her love and appreciation for the mural art with you.

We had a great time checking out the Urban Art scene in downtown Houston with Robbie. He was very knowledgeable about the artists and the art. It was a fun and informative jaunt through downtown Houston. Obviously you can drive by them yourself but it was great to hear about the artists and their visions for their creations. We wished we had time to do the Christmas light tour and have decided that we will do that one next year! It is a great time for all ages.

Excellent tour - exceeded expectations! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the sights, information, and experience riding in an open air cart. We learned things about the murals and about Houston in general that we didn't know, and added to our list of awesome things to do in Houston. I took my daughter on the Houston mural tour and we both enjoyed it! It was so interesting to see all the beautiful murals around the city, and we learned a lot of unique facts along the way. Looking forward to trying one of the other tours they offer!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday evening touring the downtown murals with Marna. While we are from the area, we really enjoyed seeing our city in a different way. Marna is extremely knowledgeable about each mural. It was fun to have her point out details I wouldn’t have noticed. She showed us so many different ones. If you are thinking of using Joyride Houston, don’t hesitate. Marna (owner/operator) is amazing!! She knows every nook & cranny of Houston, and ALL that goes on within. Any interest you may have Marna knows when & where it will be happening. If you only have one-day book a morning tour because Marna can give you ideas of what to do with the rest of your day. If you are in Houston multiple days book a tour your first day. Tell Marna your interests . . . say a particular sport, music, architecture, history, museums, parks, etc. and Marna will point you in the right direction, or if her day is open will take you there herself. Marna is so easy going and full of knowledge you will have a great time. We did a morning murals tour (private) and it was fascinating, so much better than doing it on your own because of Marna’s knowledge of the artists, but also not having to navigate/drive yourself in an unfamiliar city. Marna is so good in fact we added an extra 2 hours for her city tour. Marna dropped us at a place to eat where you could find any food type imaginable, think of an upscale food court. If I remember right she said it was the old post office. The rooftop garden overlooks the city. Just one more thing we would not have known if not for Marna. Note to Marna: Looks like 55 minutes of relaxation to me 

The ride around downtown Houston was full of many awesome murals. The guide had a lot of information on who the artists are, some of their background, and what is the meaning behind each mural. Interested in murals, this is a must activity in Houston.

We enjoyed our tour we found that our tour guide was very informative and also very knowledgeable. We were friends travelling from England and we booked the trip prior coming. We were kept updated and was even picked up from the hotel.

My friend and I had the best time seeing all the murals and seeing the area buildings. Our guide Marna was so knowledgeable and fun! She knew so much about the murals, the artists and the meaning of the art. She knew exactly where to stop so we could get great pictures. There are even murals that come to life and she had us download the apps so we could use our own phones to see. She knew the history of the buildings and area which was so interesting as well. I highly recommend this we could not have seen so many and learned so much trying to do this on our own. It felt much safer with someone who knew the exact place to stop,park etc. I will definitely do this again on my next visit!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the tour but my girlfriend loves art and I thought it would be a good place to propose to her in the city around things that represent her. Marna was so great at communicating starting the night before while helping me keep things secret during the tour. She explained small details about the city and each mural as she was giving the tour to the point where I really almost forgot what we were there for. Although Houston has a diverse canvas of murals throughout its downtown (and elsewhere in the city), locating them (especially on a weekday with traffic) and learning their individual stories can be a challenge. Happily, Joyride provides a guided tour of these downtown murals. We took a tour one Sunday morning with Robby and Marna, owners of Joyride Houston Tours. Given the risk of rain that day, we went in their truck instead of the usual golfcart. While Robby navigated the streets of downtown (so much easier on a Sunday morning), Marna told us about Houston’s street mural project and provided details on each mural and the artist that created it. The initial goal was to see murals, but we came away with so much more–the stories behind the art. Joyride also has a Murals 2.0 tour, which explores murals outside of downtown (which is necessarily by truck due to the distances involved), which we plan to take in the near future. If you are looking for an in-depth street mural experience, Joyride Tours is highly recommended.

Super cool tour getting to see murals around downtown Houston in a golf cart and got a lot of information about each one. Only thing is we had an evening tour and downtown was a bit busy so our tour felt a little rushed because of the traffic.
