Great music at real Texas venues. Joey and Ike were the perfect tour guides.

Ike and Joel were perfect hosts! We especially appreciated the personal stories and history along the way. Each venue was different and provided a great overview of Austin live music.
David and Justin(driver) were great! They were personable and easy going. We went to 3 very different venues. Different from just 6 th st. Being transported around was relaxing. A good way to get a variety. There was an opportunity to dance if you wanted. Thank you for individualized recommendations for the rest of our time on vacation.
I was a little bit confused of the meeting place as it was also the other tours/events venue to meet up, but the moment the tour guide, Trace, came, everything was in place from letting the group know what was expected of the tour and the places to go. Trace was the best tour guide, very cool and smooth with giving tid bits of information about why Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World. We were toured to 3 different puds -- Saxon Pub, Broken Spokes, C Boys Heart and Soul -- each with different aura and atmosphere. All of these were truly great. I will definitely go back when I'm in Austin.
Really well organized and fun!
Ike was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable about the Austin music scene. Gave good tips along the way to help us make the most of the experience. Fun evening in Austin!
All three of the places we're lame 1st average age was 65-80 next place was just square dancing third place was almost empty. Recommend just got to the Driscoll and walk around 6th street or watch Youtube and uber different places.
Joel and Trace were awesome hosts! Music was great. Atmosphere couldn’t be beat! Would definitely go again.
We took a mother-daughter whirl wind weekend trip to Austin and booked 2 Austin Detours Tours: Music Crawl and small group tour of Austin. Ike, Luke and Joel were fantastic! All were informative, personable and funny :) On our next trip we will be sure to book other Austin Detours Tours. You can't go wrong.
A cannot miss experience for Austin. There were six of us and we all had a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend.
Guide very friendly and well informed
I booked this live music crawl for my team and I to have a good bonding experience after a few days of meetings. I worked with Kyla to book the tour. She was super responsive and great on communication. The tour was reasonable cost. Communication on day of tour was great. Received a text message from Dave our tour guide and driver on the day of our tour, confirmed pick up location and he was right on time. Dave took us to 3 iconic Austin music spots; Saxon Pub, Broken Spoke and C-boys. All of these spots were fantastic and gave different flavors of live music. My team and I had a great experience along with having some fun and good bonding experiences while seeing some great musical talent that Austin has to offer! Highly recommend this for a business event or personal. It wont disappoint.
Great music in a variety of venues. It was very convenient to be shuttled to the locations vs concerns about driving. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the music scene in Austin. An all together great experience!
Fun night out! Felt like we got to see some of the real Austin nightlife and great local bands! Doubt we would of found this all on our own. Was also nice to be driven from bar to bar and have a local guide hangout with us at each stop. Highly recommend! Loved our guide Luke and driver Joey, fun guys!
We had such a fun time on the live music crawl! Came with 3 friends for a bachelorette trip and really enjoyed it. Saw 3 great bands at 3 different music venues around the city. Highly recommend if you want to see and hear some great music. Ike was a great tour guide!
Ike, our guide is one of the nicest people on this planet!, and Brent our driver made certain we arrived safely to the three destinations and back to our meeting place without incident. Ike provided insight into the Austin music scene by giving us the history of the venues that we saw the three music acts at along with providing background information about the artists themselves. Three unique places, with music genres that were pleasantly unexpected (Afro-Jazz) , and country music at the other venues…One singer songwriter act at a great honky-tonk and a hard hitting country rock band the our last venue. Ike escorted us in and out of all the venues, paid our cover charges, provided us useful information about where to stand, sit, get food, get air and where the bars and bathrooms were. All of us on this tour were treated with respect and Ike made it easy for all of us to feel at ease and comfortable. We were able to interact with Ike and Brent along with each other during our travel time to and from each club, making this tour a seamless, enjoyable, and memorable experience.
So glad we signed up for this tour. While in town for a conference, hubs and I wanted to experience the music scene but were unsure where to go. This tour gave us a good variety, while also explaining other venues we might consider with our limited time. Jaqs (our guide) and Kelty (the driver) did a great job keeping us all engaged and explaining not only the venue, but history and facts of the neighborhoods we visited. Our first stop was The Continental, where we listened to Rock (I'd consider it Alternative rock), which took me back to my 20's. Then we traveled across town to The Sahara for Afrobeats. I never would have looked for a venue like this, but it was our favorite spot! Finally, we ended at C-Boys for some Americana/Country. Although my husband and my music taste differs (I enjoyed all three venues) it was still a fun time at each spot. I would do this again if we're here and recommend this especially if you have limited time in town.
First - have to say that Joey Z was the best tour guide we have had in many cities we have visited. He was so light-hearted - got to know us a bit and our group to make the night the best experience. We visited 3 venues - all different. First was a honky tonk venue - we danced, order tacos from a food cart and next was a great small venue downtown with a great singer and dancing and wrapped up the night at a 3rd venue. Luke was a great professional driver also. Perfect 10 stars if I could. A must when visiting Austin.
David and Evan were great! Very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Would recommend for an evening of a variety of music in a clean, cool and smooth ride. :-)
We had a blast on our pub crawl with David in Austin . He was a fun, friendly and knowledgeable guide and the clubs each priovided a different experience. We went to a honky tonk where we saw some great singing, dancing and fiddle playing, an upstairs blues club where we saw a fantastic guitarist with a soulful bluesy style and a funky R&B club with a great singer and band. Our group had a fun time together and our driver Luke was awesome and personable. We loved our pub crawl and would definitely recommend it.
I’m glad we did the Austin Live Music Crawl. Getting the inside scoop on good places to go is worth the price of admission, especially if you want to get the most out of your visit by skipping potential duds. Easy way to get out of your comfort zone a little too.
Our group had never been on a music crawl and didn’t know what to expect. We all had a great time and agreed it was an interesting way to get introduced to Austin music history and experience where the locals go to listen to different genres. Early on in the evening a man, mounted on his horse, literally entered the club to listen to a live performance—weird and unforgettable! It was a good variety of music and length of the tour was great too. Jax is VERY knowledgeable and an exceptional Guide and David was very attentive and an awesome driver!
Amazing live Austin music crawl! Jax is incredibly knowledgeable about the local music scene and made our group feel welcome immediately. Our crawl included an awesome, uplifting mix of 70s country rock/psychedelic, a lively two-stepping honky-tonk, and a unique indie band. Keep Austin Weird— Jim and Kim
This was a great tour! I got so much more out of it than I would have checking out venues on my own. Jax was super knowledgeable and the music was fantastic.
Really cool tour of the iconic ACL facility. It was interesting and fun to learn about and see behind the scenes of the history of ACL. I would definitely recommend if you are visiting the Austin area.
Loved all three clubs. Went to places we would not have known and learned so much of the music scene in Austin
There are so many music venues in Austin, how do you choose as a first timer? You take the Live Music Crawl with David! We met at the very cool Driskell Hotel, and experienced three music genres and venues. Stop 1 we sat outside and got to listen to some blues on a beautiful evening. Next, was a true honkey tonk two steppin' our way through some country and finally ended on Congress for some fabulous R&B. David and the bus driver (sorry, can't remember his name) were so personable and knowledgable. Highly recommend this tour with them!
Great way to see a very good selection of Austin’s music venues. Dave was a great host and made us feel very informed about each stop!
Great fun for our first time in Austin, just here for the night - 3 different fun spots - gave us a good idea of what to do when we come back! Conner and Ike were both informative and entertaining. Thanks for a great evening!
Very knowledgeable driver and guide! Loved the stops especially #2 -afro drum band. Unique and fun experience for mother daughter trip!
very good tour , especially if you like music , good venue choices
Dave Hatley was our guide and he obviously loves what he does - he’s an enthusiastic and knowledgeable music lover. We went to the Saxon Club where seats were reserved and we could sit and enjoy the band. The Broken Spoke was interesting but already crowded when we arrived so it was difficult to find a place to really enjoy the music. Radio East was lovely - don’t know the name or style of music (Colombian) but it was fun and very upbeat.
Great venues and local knowledge! Highly recommend this tour. We felt safe and well looked after. Recommend!
Jax and Trace were awesome tour guides. Made the ride between each stop, informative and fun! Loved the music at each stop. Enjoyed watching the 2- step at The Broken Spoke
Jax and Trace did an excellent job getting us to each venue. They were friendly and very accommodating. The music venues were unique and fun! I would recommend this tour.
What a fantastic way to dive into Austin’s music scene! Our small group rode comfortably in a Mercedes van while our guide, Trace, and driver, Kelty, shared great stories and insights about the city’s musical history. We visited three iconic venues—The White Horse, Donn’s Depot, and The Continental—each with its own distinct vibe and sound. As new Austin residents with visiting guests, we especially appreciated having a designated driver so we could relax and enjoy the night without worrying about driving and parking. The pace was just right, and we had so much fun dancing, listening to great music, and soaking in the atmosphere. Highly recommend for solo travelers, couples, or small groups looking for an easy, memorable night out!
My husband really enjoyed this tour. The music venues we visited were amazing and definitely not ones we would have found ourselves. Trace and Dave our guide and driver were fantastic! I would highly recommend this tour!
We wanted to hear live music in Austin but had no idea where to go. This tour was the answer. We were picked up in a comfortable van at a major downtown hotel and driven by a very competent driver to three venues. Both the driver and the guide were very knowledgeable about music and were able to answer the many questions we had about the various Texas musicians we like. All three venues were well chosen with different music styles. I would highly recommend this tour. It was my favorite evening of the two weeks I spent in Texas!
Conner our guide was very informative and helpful, and very knowledgeable about the Austin music scene. The venues we visited were unique, although the performers were ok. Nice riding in the Mercedes van.
Get a taste of Austin live music. The team knows good music and were very time she organized. We got to see three good shows.
Laid back the tour that seems to be centred around your genre tastes once your group is gathered and ready to load the chariot.
I was in Austin on my own and joined in on this tour. It was the perfect way to get out and see what's going on in the Austin live music scene when I didn't know where to go. 100% recommend.
East, West and South Austin spots - we loved the different venues and genres - honky tonk, piano/Christmas pop up bar and funk/soul. Joey and Ike were fantastic guides. Highly recommend this tour for a fun night of great music.
Our guide had a total pulse on the local music scene, and driver made the ride fun as well. We learned a lot about the up and coming music scene, as well as historical and cultural aspects of Austin.
Dave was an excellent tour guide curating an excellent experience, sharing knowledge and making sure everyone was enjoying the night. Kelty drove very smoothly and safely---and showed off a little on the two-step dance floor...I had a great time and was able to see 3 very different musical performances in 3 very different venues. While I may not have liked all of the music, I know it was all well-performed/executed and a great introduction to the variety available in the "Live Music Capital of the World." Glad I had a day to explore after the tour as Dave also gave some guidance on a band to catch on my own that turned out pretty amazing and I was also able to check out a venue that we didn't go to during the music crawl. I would highly recommend this tour and would do it again in a heartbeat.
I did 3 tours with Austin Detours: the city tour, the wine shuttle, and the live music bar crawl. I loved all of them and I’d love to do the rest of the tours too! The tour guides were both super friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, and well-organized. The tours ran smoothly, stayed on time, and were informative. The guides always stick around afterwards to offer personalized recommendations to each guest, written down so you don’t forget. I’ve been on A LOT of tours and these were some of my favorites - don’t miss anything with Austin Detours!
Great time!! Dave and Joe were our chaperones and really showed us a some really great venues! I highly recommend it!
If you leave Austin and haven't done this tour, you missed out! Seriously, best tour that our girls trips have ever had!! Joey was our tour guide and we loved that he was the perfect mix of social, fun and chill all in one. He picked three incredible venues. First, venue being a "swanky" jazz bar with an amazing band who got our hips moving. The next two stops were what my girlfriends and I now refer to as old school dance halls.. but I don't think that phrase does it justice. They were bars with large dance floors and everyone was out there smiling and two stepping. Locals will ask you to dance! Go for it. It's all very PLATONIC! They will teach you to two step and the more you dance, the more fun you will have. We felt so comfortable after a few dances that we got on the dance floor on our own. We did not want the night to end! Our favorite from that night was tough to choose, but the broken spoke had what seemed to be an equal mix of dancers and those learning which made it easier to get out on the floor. Thank you so much Joey for a tour that made our whole trip!!! We can't stop talking about opening a "dance hall" back in Boston :).
david and ike were the best! the venues and music was a perfect way to get a feel of the austin music scene. would definitely book again.
David and Ike were amazing tour guides - so kind and passionate about Austin’s music scene. All three stops were unique and so much fun. I will be recommending this tour to everyone and anyone I know visiting Austin!
