This tour was both a great was to explore Austin's central areas AND get a little bit of a workout in! Chris led us around the city did a fine job of pointing out fun facts and landmarks about and around the city. We went up, over, around, and through the city from South Congress through the nature trail around the river, into downtown, over the pedestrian bridge, through Butler Park, etc. I think we totaled over 10 miles on the bike's distance tracker. He also won us over with his selections of food spots, particularly the donut spot at the end! This was definitely worth it. Be aware though, if you aren't a regular bike rider, be prepared to be saddle sore - the seats are NOT cushioned for the novice rider. Also, an e-bike just ASSISTS you in pedaling, like switching gears automatically. It is NOT a fully-powered bike so be prepared to do a little work!
Fun day!! Chris was great! Saw lots of sights and had some yummy food!! The bikes were easy to use! Definitely recommend!!
FANTASTIC!! Kate was amazing. We had such a great time. It was a highlight of our trip. We would highly recommend this experience.
Although we hit Austin during a cold front, we put on our coats and still headed out for a great e bike tour, which was probably our favorite activity of the trip. What a fabulous way to see downtown Austin and South Congress. We may never do a walking tour ever again! Our family of 3 adults had our own tour guide to ourselves and she was so fun! A resident of 30+ years in Austin, she had a plethora of information, fun facts, cool history and many stories to tell about this fun city. We also ate amazing food along the way, at food trucks and restaurants. Since it was cold and there were only 4 of us, we toured the library, which is so cool! A fun side stop (we needed for warmth!). I would highly recommend this tour, especially if your visiting the first time, like we were. Austin is an amazing place, and with a fun guide to show you the ins and outs, you can't go wrong on this tour.
Brunch tour ? We had none of the brunch food mentioned above ...very little food to speak of . The best treat was a turducken sandwich cut into six bites ! Heard about tacos , ice cream and BBQ but only got tex- Mex One friend said it was the worst bike tour she had ever been on . Very little Austin history or fun facts .,one leader had something to say but only could hear her if riding near her . The "leaders " did not seem to have a plan and bickered a lot .One leader should be at the front and one at the rear of the group ...then maybe people would not get lost or left behind ...the bikes were not charged properly . One person lost power of course on a hilly part of trip . Not recommended especially for the price !
The tour covers a lot of ground and gives you a good feel for the city. The eBikes are easy to use and perfect for keeping things at a cruisy pace while navigating Austin’s sometimes hilly terrain. Decisions regarding route and stops for food appeared to be made on the fly, which detracted from the overall experience. Not a lot of Austin history or even facts about the selected food, restaurants, etc, which should be a given since it’s a brunch tour. Overall a decent enough time and a nice way to spend a few hours in Austin.
An incredible way to experience Austin in a close-up and personal way that we would have never done on our own. We really appreciated the personalized approach Chris offered us. We eat whole-food, plant-based and he was able to accommodate in a super big way - the restaurant choices were amazing!! We had a wonderful experience and Chris was a great tour guide. We would highly recommend this tour experience.
We absolutely loved this bike tour! Chris was so fun and accommodating. We are vegans, so he found restaurants that we would like. Since my daughter and I were the only ones on the tour he made sure that we saw things we hadn’t yet seen. We went on a small tour through the Capitol and rode through the fun streets of Austin. Chris was hilarious and we laughed the entire time. Highly recommend this tour!
A great tour, easy to ride bikes, fun restaurants. We had a really nice girls trip tour. Great trails and scenery
We booked the event as a fun adventure to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We are local residents. And this did not disappoint! The best brunch/afternoon we have had in a long time. Faith, Katie and Brenda were absolute jewels! The bikes were amazing and fun to ride. The guides were Austin weird perfect! It felt authentic and organic and not scripted. Great food and amazing Sunday afternoon! We would do it again for evening food tour.
I have been on many “cookie cutter” tours and I can tell you the Austin E-Bike Brunch Tour is definetly not one of them! And I say that in the most positive way! From the moment my husband and I and our 2 other couple friends arrived for our 3 hour tour, Faith made us feel completely welcome. She set up our bikes quickly and taught us how to use them. Then, I thought she was going to take us to a few “pre-planned” places to sample food. But, instead, she asked us what we liked to eat and what kind of food we wanted to sample. She curated the trip to our exact liking! Our first stop was at a charming Tex-Mex restaurant where she explained the menu, made suggestions and ordered what we wanted. The huevos rancheros was one of the best egg dishes I have ever tasted, the salsa was to die for and the mole was like nothing any of us had ever tasted. We were absolutely stuffed and so we set off on the bikes through Lady Bird Park which was stunning. She pointed out historic buildings and told interesting stories along the way. Then, she led us into a neighborhood and asked us if we wanted to see an artist’s home. We said yes and the home turned out to be hers!!! She actually welcomed us into her backyard and we met her husband and 2 dogs and she showed us her creative sculptures that were dotted all across her front and back lawn. We really could not believe her hospitality! We almost thought she was going to ask us to stay for dinner, lol! After that, we rode to a roadside bbq joint and enjoyed brisket, sausage and ribs that were out of this world! At this point our 3 hours were drawing to a close but told us if we were interested, instead of going back she would take us to a famous lake area. (I forget the name). We said sure and we followed her to this enormous lake where hundreds of people were just lounging in and around the lake, eating, drinking, listening to music and relaxing on kayaks and floats. It was literally a “sea” of people, dogs, turtles, swans all swimming and co-existing. What a crazy scene! Faith suggested we all take off our shoes and climb in and we did - it was so much fun! After that we headed back to our starting point - our 3 hour tour was more like 4.5 hours and we enjoyed every minute of it. Faith went above and beyond and you can tell she really enjoys what she does. So happy we booked this tour - it was definelty the highlight of our trip! If you are in Austin I would say this is a must do!!!
Lisa was our tour guide for this ebike brunch tour around the city. She was informative and well versed in the city, because she herself is a local! My husband and I took several tours while in Austin and this one was our fav! I was nervous about getting on a bike after not riding for such a long time, but it was super easy. The tour wasn’t just of the downtown area either we got a full tour of lady bird lake and moody amphitheater. Thanks for making our time in austin fun!
The guides were fun and interesting. They designed the tour to meet our families needs. It was not hard to keep up and made viewing the city very interesting! The food stops were great !
Highlight of our trip - we had ages 18, 20, 54 and 78 - total blast for everyone. Food was amazing and able to cover a lot of ground/sites in a short time. Our guide Lisa was fun, patient, informative and cool. Only downside…..when the ride ended!!
The e-bike brunch tour was overall quite fun and provided my friends the opportunity to experience some of the highlights of Austin in a few hours. The bikes had no issues at all and were an excellent way to navigate the surprisingly hilly roads and feel a nice breeze on our faces the whole time, keeping us cool even during the infamous Austin summer. However, there are a few notes for the owner that can significantly enhance the experience for future guests. Considering that proceeds from this go to a nonprofit with a very worthy cause, I just want to make sure that nothing goes unsaid. My group arrived about 20 minutes early and Kristen, our guide, was frantically trying to get all of our bikes ready. She complained about the mechanic not "doing what he was supposed to do" the night before and was working with Nick (a guide in training) to fill air in the tires and add battery packs. Normally this would have been okay, but we ended up leaving about 20-30 minutes after our scheduled departure time, which meant we were sitting in the sun for about 40 minutes while everything was getting set up. After we got going, we arrived at our very first brunch spot at Counter Cafe. This was a highly rated restaurant and we were quite excited to be able to experience this as our first stop as there were many items on the menu that looked really good to try. Kristen ordered a few items from the menu herself (egg sandwiches, a quinoa parfait, and some blueberry pancakes). None of these were arguably what Counter Cafe is known for and when we asked to order an Eggs Benedict on top, she reprimanded us like we were little kids and said, "no it's too late, you should have asked me sooner." This didn't make much sense since we were never consulted about the order at all and she didn't provide any explanation beyond this. After this slightly rude response, one of our friends who didn't eat eggs wanted to eat a little more of the parfait since he couldn't eat 2/3 dishes she ordered and her response was "Okay you can have 1 more bite of it." Once again, very condescending and unnecessary especially since one of the parfaits went almost completely uneaten. Along with all of this, we were sitting at this restaurant for a very long time, and it was quite loud so she had to literally yell across the table to make conversation and it was quite awkward most of the time. We have been on many tours in the past and so far this one had gotten off to an unpolished and unprofessional start. After this, we went to the next restaurant and got seated in a nice location. Kristen once again ordered some appetizers for the table, including some guacamole and some queso. When the queso came out, it contained beef on the side and Kristen didn't make any notice of this until we saw this and asked specifically about it. As vegetarians, it's important that our dietary choice is respected and the nonchalance just rubbed everyone the wrong way. Since we only had 2 cups of queso for the 10 of us, we asked for another one to be ordered and placed closer to one side of the group and once again she very brusquely dismissed us. Note that we all understood the reasoning, it's just that she is quite rude in her communication style and treats us like children rather than the mature and accomplished adults we are. The rest of the tour continued pretty smoothly and we really enjoyed riding our bikes around ladybird lake. We especially enjoyed Nick's company and he really turned it around for all of us who were put off by Kristen. Some recommendations to enhance the tour in the future: 1. Let Nick run the trip entirely on his own 2. Provide specific menus and a "limit" per person if possible so that we know what are the established boundaries around what we can or cannot order. 3. Choose picnic areas with "to-go" orders from top-rated restaurants so that we get to converse freely without having to yell across the table to speak to each other 4. Give a run-down of the agenda in the beginning of the tour so that we know what's ahead 5. End it with some cold water bottles or electrolyte drinks to hydrate everyone after a few hours in the sun Once again, a shout-out to Nick for turning this tour around for us.
My husband and I were in Austin celebrating our 36th anniversary and went on the brunch tour with Kristen. We had so much fun. She took us to great restaurants and knew exactly what the signature dishes (and drinks) were for us to try. And along the way we saw great sites. The ebikes are a definite winner. I highly recommend this tour!
We were truly impressed with our guide...her knowledge of the bike-friendly back streets of central Austin (yes, they do exist!) as well as her amazing ability to get us into crowded cafes on a holiday weekend. Topping it all off was learning that Bike Texas is instrumental in advocating for bike access (bike lanes, bridges, etc) in Austin, which we're more than happy to support. Highly recommended!
Had such an awesome time on an ebike tour with my friends! Our tour guide Faith, with Bike Texas was super cool! I haven’t had that much fun in a long time. I was nervous at first - but it was easy! Saw cool Austin sites, stopped off for brunch. I would love to go again and again and highly recommend Bike Texas!!!
