Had an absolute blast cruising the Texas countryside on the 4-hour Devil’s Backbone and Canyon Lake route! Fantastic scenery, great roads and excellent value for money. Pickup and drop-off were super easy, with clear instructions on how to navigate the route and how to operate the Slingshot. Such a fun way to explore the area. Highly recommend!

It was a TON of fun. I highly recommend the faster model. It was 95 degrees, straight sun, and we did not do the roof. It was perfect. Once you get moving the sun was a non issue. We did spend the $4 for sunscreen (good move). The roof is a 50 dollar upgrade, too, which I wasn't real thrilled about and drove a lot of my reason for not renting it. I mean you figure the 4-Hour rental for the entire vehicle was like 55 bucks an hour still paying $50 for a roof 15 next awesome and unnecessary. I suppose if you're in like the middle of July and it's pushing over a hundred degrees, maybe? If you're not going to do the roof I would recommend , if you're like me and you have very short hair, that you were a backwards baseball cap. My scalp started to get a little bit burned I think... But I have a high face marine cut. If you get the Type R (the more powerful model) I recommend using the manual mode and paddle shifting. Loads of fun. Our guide said it would take us three and a half hours if we were just driving and didn't stop. We stopped for slushies which took us maybe 10 minutes? And my ETA back to the office was 1:55pm after pulling out at 11:13 a.m. So you're talking maybe 2hr 40 minutes? We ended up having a lot of time to kill. We didn't stop for food but even if we had I think we would have had more time. We found a local park that had an Overlook to the water and kind of hung out there for a little bit. If you've never driven a slingshot it's pretty similar to driving a small convertible. One thing that surprised me is when you're sitting at stop light and let your foot off the break it'll automatically engage the clutch and you'll start to roll if you don't push the break (or pull the E-brake, or push the gas). It handles very well. Did you ever driven a sport car the steering kind of mirrors that. Pretty tight with not a lot of play. Keep in mind this is Texas. There wasn't (in our opinion) very much to see. The Texas countryside is desert with trees... So the scenery isn't much. Once you get to the loop after the main highway stretch there's some cool backroad style twists and turns, tree tunnels, and you see the water people go tubing on. That loop takes awhile as the speed limits drop down to 20mph, frequently, as you go through the camping areas. The water where folks were tubing offered some photo opportunities but beyond that, not much. This was the 4-Hour Devil's Backbone. I saw some other reviews on here about being given another route that was only a 3-hour drive but we weren't given more than one route. I was actually surprised for the first leg of the trip where you're basically on just the main Highway how much traffic there was smack dab during the middle of the day on a Sunday. I mean we were able to keep moving but it's not like there's a lot of stretches to play around. Your cell phone is the navigation device but they walk you through what at app to download and how to bring up your route . You also can play your music through the stereo which we did pretty much the whole time which was nice. The volume Auto adjusts depending on the sound of the engine which is super hopeful. Overall, a very sleek and nice machine. I would definitely recommend. Just note that, at least with Devil's backbone, The Thrill is in the ride - not the sights (IMHO).
This was a GREAT ride. GET THE ROOF!! It was 101 and was very hot. Regardless , we rented for 4 hours and took the 3 hour route, leaving us an hour to stop at the roadside spots! Great day! Great ride! Awesome owner and very up-front and clear. Veteran owned! Support small businesses like this one.
Was a little apprehensive renting a Slingshot in a place we have never driven before. The experience was amazing from start to finish. The operator explained everything in detail and put us at ease with explaining the vehicle and route. We had the best experience! The Slingshot was an awesome ride!
My husband has always wanted to ride a slingshot and I found a great deal for us to do just that! We did the 4 hour tour and, after finding our way around a road block, we had a great time! We stopped and ate at the recommended burger joint and sat in the river a while before heading back. It was a lot of fun and if we ever get back to San Antonio, we'll definitely rent again!
Excellent experience! Had a great time renting a Slingshot. Kenny was so helpful and made the whole experience easy and fun. Definitely one of the best things we did in Texas. Highly recommend!
Information that was given to us was wonderful, driving/riding the slingshot was very fun and the views were amazing! Definitely recommend and would definitely do this again.
Slingshot Adventure was such a great experience! The customer service really stood out, everyone was friendly, helpful, and made the whole process smooth from start to finish. The views were absolutely beautiful and made it totally worth it. It’s the perfect way to get out of the hustle and bustle of San Antonio and just take in some amazing scenery. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something fun and refreshing to do!
Such a great experience from start to finish! Booking through Viator was simple, and the entire process couldn’t have been easier. We checked in online ahead of time, then arrived a little early to finish up paperwork and watch a quick video. Everything was smooth, organized, and stress-free. The gentleman running the place was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable—he made sure we were completely comfortable before heading out. He even came outside to get us set up in the Slingshot, connected the Bluetooth for us, and walked us through everything so all we had to do was hop in and go. And the drive… absolutely beautiful. We chose the route around the lake and got to see the river and where people float—it was such a scenic, relaxing ride. Overall, an easy, fun, and memorable experience we’d definitely recommend!
Love the experience with the sling shot. It was great route, nice ride, and very good weather. Would definitely recommend.
An amazing time! The provided route was beautiful. A must do! It is a self guided tour - no pressure and spot on.
We loved this ride along winding roads and hills, passing along many ranches, beautiful scenery, through mountains, and bluffs along the river. It was great! It was all through a GPS that took us through this wonderful and fulfilling adventure. This was well worth it and beyond! Would love to do it again on another visit.
First time, the experience was excellent and FUN! The self-tour was excellent, was able to see the countryside of San Antonio! Plus, we had beautiful weather
Best place to rent a slingshot. We’re so glad we chose this place. Kenny offers top notch service and the sling shots are in great condition. We rented two!!
This was an awesome experience. Kenny helped us out and showed us exactly where to go and what to expect. I would do this again and highly recommend it.
Great trip! Self-paced and excellent tour of surrounding countryside. Plenty of time to take a few breaks along the way and even grab a quick lunch. Easy process to get checked in and everything is set up for you. Highly recommend and great value for the experience.
Great ride with great views. The owner was friendly and very informative for beginners. The guided tour route was easy to understand and operate
A fun, fantastic ride through the hill country. It’s our first time to rent a Slingshot, and the experience was outstanding! It really added so much to the enjoyment of our visit to this beautiful area of Texas. We enjoyed the scenery of the Devil’s Backbone and the ride alongside the Guadalupe River. Highly recommended!!
Super fun experience and very helpful and knowledgeable staff. We arrived and were shown rules and safety video then after signing some forms, we were good to start. It was a fun tour, a fun vehicle and all around exceeded our expectations. Would definitely recommend:)
A fun experience and an interesting was to see some of the TX countryside. Would go again. Tip: if you’re beeboping around in a rental without a top, be sure to bring sunscreen!
We give this experience 5 stars! It was so worth it. We saw the countryside of San Antonio. Beautiful scenery especially along the Guadeloupe River. Lots of places to stop and eat. Highly recommend the rooftop covering to protect against the Texas heat. Kenny was so helpful!
