The Westin Houston Medical Center/museum District

This is a beautiful location; if you are in town for medical treatment and/or supporting someone receiving medical treatment, I would strongly recommend this property. However, if you are on a work trip...not so much. In the rooms my traveling Team and I had, there was no desk; just a small high top (i.e. think of a high top/tall table in a bar). Not the best for working. Also, the only on property parking was valet. While it was pretty expensive, that was not the worst part; the worst part was you either had to perform a U-turn or drive around the block to reach the valet stand...and that's another thing. Driving in the area is bananas! Short lights, trains, people just walking across the street like they have bumpers, busses; nightmare. Not what you want to deal with to start or end the day. Now please allow me to say, other parts of the property were great; walking distance to multiple eateries (including Starbucks), everyone was very professional and personable, room was very spacious. I removed one star for the driving experience and lack of desk.

Super friendly staff and front desk clerk. While our room was not ready on arrival, they did get us taken care of eventually. It is nice to have a bar/restaurant on site. They did not have all the ingredients for a negroni, which seemed unusual. Pool area was super nice, but Houston's humidity was tough. Housekeeping was good, but they do need to leave more sweeteners in the room for coffee drinkers. They were a bit sparse. Valet was quick and efficient. It was very nice being so close to Methodist Hospital. The restaurants in the are were cheap and cheerful, particularly Mod Pizza.

The Westin has nicely renovated the former Medical Towers building into a great hotel convenient to the Medical Center, Rice University, and the Museum District. All of these are a nice walk from the hotel, but can also be accessed via the hotel's free shuttle that will take you anywhere nearby. As a Bonvoy Ambassador elite, we had a double queen room on a high floor. Rooms are a bit small and lack a formal desk area or sitting chair, but have a hightop table with stools for work or sitting. The room and bathroom were both very clean. The Heavenly Bed offered a great night's sleep. Depending on your preference, do note that the bathroom did have a shower/tub combo, unlike many new and recently renovated properties that have gone to walk-in showers only. Service was great - a warm welcome on arrival. Valet parking was very prompt and friendly. Breakfast had a wide variety on the menu and was served quickly. I look forward to returning again when I stay in this area of Houston.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an incredible stay at the Westin Houston Medical Center. I was surprised with a complimentary upgrade to the Presidential Suite, and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff made this stay exceptional. Every interaction felt warm, attentive, and genuinely focused on guest comfort. The level of service was truly all-star. I also loved the heated rooftop pool, enjoyed drinks at the bar, and had a great breakfast each morning. The hotel is modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed throughout. A fantastic experience from start to finish. I’ll absolutely be back.
