The Barfield, Autograph Collection

We stopped here very late one night, just passing through on our way to Florida. As two women and our kids, we never quite know what to expect from people across the country. We were so pleasantly surprised when David greeted us and was so kind to our family. We immediately felt welcome, safe, and at home. The hotel is really cool, with really well appointed and tastefully decorated rooms. 10/10 would recommend!

I really enjoyed my time at this property. The rooms were amazing and the food was delicious. This is a boutique hotel. I really enjoyed sitting on the second floor patio or watching the Fourth of July fireworks. It was my first time in the lovely city of Amarillo Texas.

The room is beautiful. Big shower. The bars offer delicious drinks and the location is within walking distance of the arcade bar LIT. This hotel has valet parking and the staff is very friendly and welcoming.

My stay involved multiple serious issues that management failed to resolve or event attempt to compensate for. A staff member, Holly, made remarks to me that I shouldn't argue with her because she is pregnant and a woman, and I also felt directly insulted during that interaction. She also threatened to call the cops on me because she would insult me and I would get upset and get loud, which would then trigger her to threaten the cops again. I raised this with management, including her supervisor, and nothing meaningful was done. It's disgusting that a staff member would use their gender and health against a customer like that. You are more than welcome to stay home if you're pregnant and can't handle upset customers. I was also charged several times for amounts totaling hundreds of dollars, and hotel staff could not clearly explain the charges. After checkout, I was told the charges would be corrected on my credit card, but that did not happen. When I followed up again, I was told to wait until Friday. The communication around billing was inconsistent and frustrating. The room itself also had problems. There was shattered glass on the floor next to the bed, which is unacceptable from a safety standpoint. The bed was uncomfortably hard, and the shower head was heavily calcified. To be fair, most of the non-management staff I interacted with were excellent. The biggest failure here was management: poor communication, poor follow-through, and no real attempt to make the situation right. I will note Holly was willing to comp my rooms if I was going to cancel - otherwise the hotel wasn't willing to do anything to make up for their mistakes. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again.
