This hotel is a short walk to both the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center, the Alamo (which is beautiful at night) and the San Antonio Riverwalk. The staff were extremely friendly, they always greeted our group when we walked in and told us to have a good day on the way out. The only (minor) downside I would say is that parking is valet only @ $39/night. However, the valet was always in high spirits and extremely polite. There are parking alternatives nearby if you don’t mind a short walk. Breakfast was hot and the area was always kept very clean. For the location and price point, I would certainly stay here again.

We were here for a conference. The location is key. The Moda Fare restaurant is a bit pricey for breakfast. The valet is $60/day, self park is $30/day. The parking lot is pretty tight for a regular sized truck like a Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado. Ceiling height is approx 6'8". The pool is basic, but very nice and well kept. It gets very hot, especially the surrounding tiles not covered by shade, during the day. It has a nice poolside bar. This is on the 5th floor with the gym. The gym is roomy and has plenty of equipment. There is a Ruth's Chris steakhouse on the North side, but we don't do Ruth's Chris. The conference rooms and services are basic - nothing special. Ask the front desk staff we dealt with were exceptional. There are six elevators per tower. The overall views aren't too special - there is nothing spectacular about San Antonio, its skyline, or surrounding area. The mall is a short walk away, and Yard House and Margaritaville reviews are coming up. Access to the Riverwalk is fast and easy and it is a great starting point for going a few different routes for tourism, dining, drinking, and more. The rooms are a bit on the small side - one of the smaller rooms we've stayed at over the last several years. Our showers' water was too hot for me and we couldn't turn it down. The blind was broken.
Customer service is everything to me when choosing a hotel, and the team at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk absolutely delivered. My family and I visited San Antonio during the 4th of July weekend, and we were strongly considering the much newer and more upscale Thompson. However, after interacting with Henry and Brian days before and during our stay, the decision became easy. Their level of hospitality, professionalism, and genuine care for guests is something you simply can’t put a price on. They made us feel valued from the moment we arrived and consistently went above and beyond throughout our stay. Sucks, our entire stay I wasn’t able to cross paths with them but I made sure to let everyone at the front desk know they were the reason we’re here. Nicole was the icing on the cake, making sure everything came together seamlessly and adding a personal touch that didn’t go unnoticed. The room itself was good, but the city view was what really stood out. My kiddos have a tradition of ranking hotel views whenever we travel, and they’ve experienced some impressive views in both Austin and Houston during our Texas tour. To our surprise, San Antonio took the top spot. They spent so much time looking out over the skyline and talking about how this was their favorite hotel view yet. The club lounge access was another huge plus. Having breakfast and lunch available made traveling with kids much easier, and they looked forward to it every day. At the end of the day, beautiful hotels are everywhere. What separates one property from another is the people. Customer service we received from Henry, Brian, and Nicole is exactly why we chose the Grand Hyatt and why we’ll continue choosing it every time we’re in San Antonio.
We always stay at the Grand Hyatt when visiting San Antonio. We tried staying at another hotel one time and ended up canceling there to stay here instead. We always receive friendly service at the desk with the exception of this morning. The desk attendant seemed very annoyed that I was asking questions and impatient. That said, everyone has bad days and since we have never had that experience with anyone else at the Hyatt, I think it was a one off. We have an autistic son who has sensitivities to sound and bright lights so we were put on the 21st floor in an ADA room to accommodate him. The view is always stunning to see. Housekeeping was so nice and brought us the extra pillows and towels we requested within 15 minutes. They cleaned our room and even folded my son's blanket on the end of the bed. As for valet parking, I wish it was not so expensive to park at the hotel as a guest since we are already paying for all the amenities but I will say, Patrick and Luis have been the valet attendants at least one day out of every stay we have had and they are phenomenal. Patrick helped me clean up a small spill in my car before he even parked it. They are always very fast in getting our car to us and helping us unload. They are friendly and take a genuine interest in our lives and safe travels. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stay with the convenience of being able to walk around and explore the city. I do wish the pricing was a little more consistent and that I did not receive a bunch of miscellaneous charges upon check out that end up totaling an additional $150 usually. With that in mind, the pros outweigh the few small things and we will definitely be back.
We had a great stay at Grand Hyatt River Walk San Antonio. Service was great from even before we arrived to the checking in at the front desk to taking our car from the garage when we left. Stacy, who answered me questions before our arrival to the young lady who checked us in at the front desk (my bad, I forgot her name but it started with an "A") to the housekeeping and valet staff. They all made us feel welcome and special. I also loved the quieter vibe here and the amenities in the room. we used GOH and everything was great. We were upgraded to an executive suite, had free breakfast, late check out, free self parking and there was no destination fee. Highly recommend to travelers who look for place to stay in downtown San Antonio.
