Fantastic day trip with Joshua! Very nice and personable guy with excellent English. Taroko is partially closed at this time, but we were able to enter and still see the beautiful scenery and temples. Then went on to several wonderful and interesting sites along the east coast, including a couple of nature walks with beautiful vistas. Highly recommend!

Great comprehensive day tour of Taroko National Park. Tour guide Jason Lee was knowledgeable, eager to teach, and made certain each participant had an excellent experience. We were with a group of six . Pick up and drop off were at our hotel. Aboriginal snacks ( including sausage link and agar bubble drink) and a full delicious lunch. Tour was very comprehensive, including Swallow Grotyo, suspension bridge walks over the gorge, Eternal Spring Shrine, Bell Tower trail and more. Lots of background and history not only of outside conquerors and threats, but also about the Islands aboriginal peoples. A truly a amazing day at great value
lovely tour of taroko national park, hit all the big sights. i really liked that we went to an indigenous restaurant for lunch.
Jeff (Chao) was a very knowledgeable and accommodating English-speaking guide. He’s from Hualien, so he knows Taroko extremely well.
The scenes are breathtaking, the tour guide (Mr. Jackson) is knowledgeable, helpful, full of energy. Jackson tells us lots of story related to his hometown, takes many photos for us, also gives us the best sausage in the world, making our trip become memorable! Thank you again Jason!
With Jason Huang we had a great experience seeing the Taroko Gorge and beach. He is so kind, well spoken in English and tailored the program to our needs. Really recommend visiting with him! Price and quality really in line with eachother also. You can text him at +886963800617 or email to nike507766@gmail.com Thank you Jason!
Great tour!! Jason spoke excellent English and was super knowledgeable about the area. The scenery was beautiful and he helped us capture memorable photos of our family. Highly recommend!
We had a great guide, Jason, who led a well paced tour of Taroko Gorge. His knowledge of the area, where he grew up, along with the historical context created a great backdrop to complement the beautiful natural scenery. From pickup at hotel to the various points of interest to an enjoyable lunch, Jason took very good care of our group. Highly recommend it!
We had an amazing tour of Toroko National Park. Our guide was superb. Jason spoke great English and was passionate about his home region. He drove very safely in a dangerous busy area and was really friendly, funny and inquisitive. Clearly he enjoys his job. Thanks Jason for the amazing tour, we loved the park and your touring. Thanks !!
We had the most wonderful time with OJ! He has extensive knowledge about the area and Taiwan in general and was able to share countless stories with us that made our trip both to Toroko Gorge and Taiwan more meaningful. He was an excellent guide and the tour was certainly the best part of our trip! 10/10 would recommend!
We booked a private day tour with Jeff and loved it! Jeff is really nice, knowledgeable, and professional and speaks really good English. My 7 year old daughter was along for the tour and had no problem keeping up. The trails were easy but really pretty. We had a great day and would highly recommend this tour.
This was an amazing tour. If you are looking for a full day of beautiful scenery and interesting history, definitely join this tour. Any trip to Hualien is not complete without a trip to Taroko!
Signed up for private tour basically because of mum and dad who are in their 70s, The spots we went within the national park are mostly flat. Taiwan Vista's Jeff took good care of us during the trip. Other than driving us, he gave us some historical background of Hualien and explained lots of relevant info regarding the national park. We were able to take our time at the spots we visited. Taroko is a must do while you're at Hualien, great tour with great service. We've enjoyed it very much.
When our American friends come to visit us, we always choose Taroko to show them how beautiful Taiwan Island is. To save time, we'd hire a tax driver for a full-day ride. There are quite a few trails with astonishing views in Taroke National Park. The most exciting one is Baiyang Trail. When you go to the end, you have to take off your shoes and enter a tunnel with bare foot in the water. The tunnel is dark and comes with falls. A lot of fun and surprises. Highly recommended. The other spot you don't want to miss is the Tunnel of Nine Turns. You can have a breathtaking view of marble valley.
Taroko National Park is one of the most strikingly beautiful parks we have visited in recent years. Our guide, Joshua, made the day even more enjoyable by giving us an insightful tour peppered with many facts about the landscape and the nature of the park. He also made the day more joyful with his catalog of jokes and one-liners. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you can get Joshua to guide you.
The private tour of Taroko Gorge highlights and Old Zhuilu trail is well worth it! Simon was a fantastic guide! He knew exactly where to go and how to make the most of our short visit. We avoided the crowds and even squeezed in a trip to the Baiyang Water Curtain Cave. He brought us local breakfast the morning of the Zhuilu hike and we had coffee at the end of the trail. Book a private tour with Vista to make the most of your visit and if you want a customized tour. Highly recommend and would do it again!
My husband and I enjoyed our Taroko Gorge tour with Jeff (Chao)! We learned a lot about the history behind all the sites we visited and were able to see all the spots listed on the itinerary. Definitely would recommend to those who have limited time and looking to explore Taroko Gorge within a day. By using this tour service instead of the buses we were able to have a more personalized experience and see more of the park.
We had booked a full day tour of Taroko and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chào, our guide, picked us up at our B&B in the morning and showed us all the highlights of Taroko Gorge as well as Qingshui Cliff and Qixingtan Beach. We were really keen on hiking and got to walk on our own along Xiaozhuliu & Shakatang Trail, through Swallow Grotto, to Baiyang Falls and up to one of the temples. Chào made sure to show us the route and pick us up afterwards at the right spot. He was very knowledgeable about the region and Taiwan in general and spoke excellent English. The amount of information and leaving us time for ourselves to explore was just right. Also, he always had a backup plan since sometimes single trails are closed due to weather or construction. Many tours of Taroko are quite touristic and include stopovers at tourist markets. This one however felt like exploring Taroko with a local friend. Thanks a lot!
Great tour. Simon our guide was fantastic. Comfortable and easy way to visit the sights of Taroko Gorge. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful experience with Jason Huang as our guide and driver. He was well prepared, had excellent advice, well spoken in English, and navigated everything on a great timeline for the day. We definitely recommend him and his services. He can be reached at nike507766(at)gmail.com.
Pictures do not do justice to the awe-inspiring beauty of this park. Simon was a model guide, with energy and experience to get us to the best places while dodging tourist crowds. He went above and beyond to help us arrange the best train tickets back to Taipei. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Taiwan!
Jason is a fantastic guide, very professional and joyful who, for sure, will highlight your day during your Hualien tour. He knows perfectly the Taiwan'stories and can explain as a "géologue" the incredible landscape you will see. Thanks again for this day and the perefect pics you did for us!
Working with Taiwan Visa Day Tours was very easy. They provided quick responses, great information, and a very organized daily itinerary. Janet, our guide, was very informative and friendly. She personally worked with the six of us talking, explaining, and answering any questions we had. What we saw in Toroko National Park and its surroundings was indescribably magnificent. The day may have been dreary but the sights were unbelievable. It was amazing that we were able to see so much in the time we had. I would highly recommend using Taiwan Vista Day Tours. We also used them in Keelung and had an outstanding day there.
Absolutely fantastic tour of the Toroko National Park. Our guide, Jeff, was friendly and knowledgeable of the park and Hualien. From a prompt 8:30AM pickup from the Hualien Train Station, we were zipped to Chishingtan Beach, Qingshui Cliffs, Swallow Grotto, Baiyang Trail, Lushui Trail, Cimu Bridge, Eternal Spring Shrine, Changuang Temple Bell Tower, and back to Hualien Train Station by 5:30PM. In looking at our fitness apps, we hiked for over 15 kilometers, including hikes over scenic suspension bridges, gorges, and rivers; sometimes up/down steep inclines and pitch black tunnels. The highlight was the Baiyang Trail, ending in a darkened tunnel of falling sheets of water. With Jeff’s speedy hiking pace (as fast as we could go), knowledge of the specific sites, routes, parking, and peak times, we covered much more than we could have with the Taroko park shuttle bus, and even more than with a larger private bus tour. We even had time to eat a local breakfast of soy milk and scallion pancakes and an early ramen dinner in Hualien, both only a local like Jeff would be able to find. His English communication was fluent. Having the VW minivan was just the right size to go deeper into the park than the prohibitive buses, get closer parking, and comfortable enough for our party of 5. The pre-trip booking and payment was informative and efficient, led by Kierra. Paypal payment was secure and easy. The tough part was outside the agency's control, which was securing the required Taipei-Hualien train booking, made difficult and complex by TRA’s antiquated system and high demand for the express trains (versus regular trains). Here is my train booking experience to share. Taipei-Hualien TRA Train Booking Instructions and Tips: There are two types of TRA trains for the 170km trip from Taipei to Hualien; the express takes 2 hours and the local train takes 3 to 4 hours, both cost the same 440NTD one way. As such, the express trains sell out fast, especially during the weekends and holidays. Book on TRA.MOTC Official Website (google TRA Taiwan train), as soon as 14 days prior to travel, timing is very important to get the early express (Puyama and Toroko) trains. You need your passport ID # and major credit card for payment. Most would choose the roundtrip booking option; a rejection of the selected in-bound or out-bound train will require you to start the transaction all over. Once successful, remember to do a screen print and write down the booking number and train information (the TRA system does collect your email address, thus no email confirmation, and only way to retrieve your booking is via the booking number). Upon arrival in Taipei, you retrieve your ticket from most major TRA stations such as Taipei Main and Sungshan, bring your passport and booking pickup form, do this at least 30 minutes prior to departure, but I would recommend doing this as early as possible in case of issues. The site also states a 7-11 pickup option using the ibon Kiosk, but I didn’t see it in visiting several stores, thus went down to the Taipei Main Station and stood in a 20 minute TRA ticketing line to pick up my tickets a couple days prior to departure. Overall, I highly recommend Taiwan Vista.
Jeff, our tour guide, picked us up at 8:30 promptly from our hotel. He took us to several scenic spots...some to enjoy the amazing views and some to enjoy hiking with amazing views. Our group of 6, ranging in ages 18-55, managed to put in over 12 miles of hiking, nothing too physically demanding. Although we were not provided with flashlights or rain ponchos, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them as well as a pair of flip flops or other shoes to get wet in order to see the "curtain waterfalls."
This is a tour which i was initially skeptical. But my husband & daughter loves the nature & hiking so i oblige. NO regrets!! This turn out to be the best day in our 1 week Taiwan Tour. We are a group of 2 elderlys, 2 adults & 2 kids (7yo, 3yo). We took the early train from TAipei to Hualien and Jeff was waiting at the station for us. We were starving so he recommended us to a local store for breakfast. The fried bread with eggs in btw was awesome!! After that we went to the ChiShingTan Beach. Jeff was very informative and he even brought a tablet to show us pictures. We then head on to the Qingshui Cliff. It was breath-taking!! Beautiful..We then went to the Shakadang Trail at Taroko Gorge before stopping for a tribal lunch.Jeff was running up n down making sure we gets the best view, not too exhausted from too much of walking, he will drive the van to the end of the trail. The tribal lunch is okay, something new. Nothing WOW but not nad either. But the hotel that we had lunch was really interesting with an aboriginal set up. A lot of the people who work there are aborigines. They are all very pleasant & friendlyAfter lunch we went to the Swallow Grotto & Eternal Spring Shine. The marble cliffs will take your breath off. After that Jeff sent us back to the train station and recommended us on what souvenirs to get. I highly recommend this tour & Jeff to anyone who visits Taiwan. Taroko Gorge is a MUST do and i will be back too!!!
Well worth the trip down from Taipei. We came down on the train and stayed in Hualien. Jason picked us up at our hotel and gave us a full tour of the sights. He was super-entertaining and knowledgable, having grown up in the area. I couldn't imagine a better guide. We visited on a Monday in December, and the park was fairly crowded. Fortunately, the terrain is so rugged that people stay on the paths and the scenery is still enjoyable. Half the benefit of the tour is having someone to drive. The roads are narrow, often down to one lane, and crowded with buses and pedestrians. Don't try driving yourself unless you enjoy crazy traffic and impossible parking. Let Jason take care of it instead.
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Toroko Gorge and the other locations. It was fun to hear about the history and news of Hualien. We finished the tour and Janet was kind enough to help assist us with purchasing the correct tickets at the train station. Thank you for the memorable tour, Janet! Would definitely recommend this tour for those who are considering it.
Two of us booked a private tour of Taroko with Jason Huang. He met us at the train station with a sign. He even helped us rebook our return train since we were scheduled to leave very late at night. The tour was spectacular. He knew exactly where to take us and understood we enjoyed hiking. The whole private tour was around $100 USD. Can't recommend him enough. Our private tour consists four of us so the whole tour was adjusted to our pace. We walked and hiked; we spent more time at certain locations and less at others. Our tour included lunch at a restaurant at the Taroko Village Hotel. The restaurant had a delightful cultural ambiance. The food was tasty and the drinks satisfied our thirst. Ric was our tour guide and driver. His English is good. We liked him very much.
We can highly recommend this tour, we liked it very much. We came by train to Hualien and decided to book a private tour instead of renting a car. Best decision to our opinion, because at some spots parking is difficult. It gave us the opportunity to walk around at some beautiful spots, while our guide was waiting in the car at the end of the trail. Jason (O.J.) is a very friendly, energetic ans passionate guide, who grew up in this area. He showed us the highlights of the park and the area surrounding the park. His English was great and he has great and interesting knowledge about history and nature. We also took the lunch option, which was very tasteful local food. When we come back to Taiwan in future, we will surely book another tour with Jason!
Jason met us at Hualien train station with a huge smile on his face, clearly excited for the day to come. He took great pride in showing us local spots before heading into the 'must-see' spots around the gorge. Jason was a fountain of knowledge and we had fascinating chats all day. He also guided the pace of the day very well and explained the trade-offs if we wanted to see other specific sites. He also introduced us to the local 'Shakadang' boar and wild peppercorn sausage for which I will be eternally grateful. Immensely good (sausage) and tour!
Four of us did the one day Taroko Gorge one day private tour. We found the day to be interesting and informative, our driver/ guide Jason Lee was a very good and safe driver who spoke excellent English and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his job. The gorge itself is well worth looking at some of the roads and tunnels a bit mind blowing. It would have been better with more water running through it but they had a poor wet season. If you are in Hualien City this trip should be on you’re list of things to do.
Tuto cestovní agenturu a jmenovitě Jeffa mohu vřele doporučit. Díky za krásný výlet!!! We were a group of three generations on our trip. I, my son (6 years old) and my mum. All stops and hikes were planned so that we could all of us manage them and were all very interesting and beautiful. We enjoyed the company of our guide Jeff very much. He knows a lot about the park and has many extra interesting information. He was very nice to my son and didn't have problem communicating with him on a childrens level. Jeff was very kind and pleasant all day and I was impressed with his English. He even sent us a present via his colleague the next day - a beautifull map of Taiwan. I can only recomend this agency and especially Jeff. Thank you for a memorable trip!!!
My wife and I booked the day tour with Jason (aka OJ). He took us to the gorge which in it self was an amazing sight to behold. Jason's English and driving skills were on point and he was a very entertaining and enthusiastic guide. We would highly recommend this tour to see the gorge especially if you can book Jason!
Tour guide Jason Lee is very knowledgeable about the history and nature of the park and really seems to enjoy showing all the best spots. Highly recommended if you are looking for an English speaking guide to see the park.
This tour allows you to do the short hikes on the popular trails of the Park. Rick was our tour guide. He was on time picking us up from our minsu (BnB) & 1st took us to the Chishingtan Beach and then to the Qingshui Cliffs. He helped take photos of us and then we were off to Taroko Gorge National Park. We hiked 3 different trails: Shakading trail, Swallow Grotto & the Baiyang Waterfall trail & the Eternal Spring Shrine walk. Rick dropped us off at the various trail heads and did not accompany us on the trails; we hiked at our own pace. He told us where to meet him afterwards. We had lunch inside the park @ a restaurant that served Aborigine foods. Rick introduced us to a local dish of stir fried Asplenium nidus (bird’s nest fern), local fried river shrimp and iron plate boar. Rick made sure that we had plenty of restroom breaks and he safely drove us through the Park & back to our minsu at the end of the day. He is a very nice young man & answered our Qs during the tour, but we wished for more commentary & stories about the National Park & the native peoples. Rosa/Chao was very timely in answering all my emails & Qs about the tour booking.
It was an enjoyable hike. Need some stamina to hike up Taroko but certainly possible for anyone include beginners.Scenary on the top was beautiful and breath taking. Appreciate Jeff for his knowledge of the area. Overall very good hike and I enjoy it very much. Thanks Jeff.
This tour is very great lots of nice landscape to see and history to learn. The tour operator is really arranging, doing the best they can to find a tour the day you choose.
We are from midwest, U.S.A. Our family (2 adults, 2 kids age 5 and 14) stay in Silk Place for 2 nights in April 2018. This was our first trip to Taroko National Park. Since we were staying in the middle of the park and had an entire day, we initially planned to use the park shuttle bus exploring the park on our own. But we ended up going with Taiwan Vista Tour instead based on the high rating on TA. It was the best decision! We could have gone with other cheaper options like local taxi driver or small group tour, but I'm so glad we chose this private tour. We definitely got what we paid for and some. Our guide Simon was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and knew all the great spots to go. His English was great, as if he had lived in the States for a long time. There was a construction and the road would be blocked for an hour at a time intermittently. Simon was able to anticipate the delays and make the tour as seamless as possible. It was not something we could find out easily on our own and would have wasted a lot of time waiting around. Besides, it would be a lot more difficult to learn about the history and interesting facts about this beautiful park on our own. Our tour and Simon definitively had maximized our experience at Taroko. Taroko is such a spectacular place and we'll be back again.
My travel partner and I had a wonderful and memorable day trip to Taroko National Park with our guide Simon! Simon is very friendly, funny and speaks fluent English. He shared with us many interesting facts about the various places that we visited, and his enthusiasm clearly showed. The tour itself was excellent, and we visited scenic places such as Chishingtan Beach, Qingshui Cliff, Swallow Grotto, and even walked a couple of trails such as the Shakadang Trail. We particularly liked the lookout area around Qingshui Cliff which provided a breathtaking view of the beautiful blue water below. Great spot for photo-taking! The Shakadang Trail was wonderful as well, with its many rock formations and water pools along the trail. We even had a chance to try the wild boar sausage at a small food booth along the trail, and it was surprisingly delicious. After we completed our tour itinerary for the day, Simon brought us to have the delicious deep-fried scallion pancake in Hualien city. The pancakes were an absolutely wonderful way to end off a fun-filled trip! We would highly recommend Taiwan Vista and Simon!
My husband, daughter and 4 grandkids had a fantastic tour with Vista Tour and our guide Simon Wu. It was comfortable, well planned and very enjoyable. The schedule was flexible and Simon was very accommodating with the 4 kids. We were able to stop as needed yet the scheduled flowed. Simon made sure we saw unique and special sites and eating establishments. We would definitely recommend Simon and Vista Tour for any touring needs. Thank you for making our trip so memorable!!
In arranging these excursions Taiwan Vista were very helpful and accommodating, answering all emails promptly. We met Jeff at the dockside for our first visit to the Toroko Gorge, we had a number of stop offs along the way, witnessing some stunning scenery, Jeff was both Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the areas we visited. The gorge is amazing and Jeff gave us the opportunity to walk a couple of the trails including the Lushui and Shakadang, this was great to experience as part of a small group, because the trails didn't get too crowded. Jeff went above and beyond by offering us a bit of free time in the night market close to the port, before dropping us back to our ship. Day 2 from Keelung, Jeff had driven overnight to meet as the dockside, and we had a fun filled day, cramming in sites such as the Yehliu geopark, elephant rock formation, Jifuen old town, schifen waterfall and schifen old mining town, including the opportunity to launch our own lanterns, as seen in the Pingxi lantern festival. Watching the crowds rushing to clear the tracks in Schifen to allow the trains through was a highlight of the day for me. Although we did a lot, the day didn't feel rushed and we got back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. Thank you Jeff for an amazing couple of days.
Simon did a wonderful job showing us the many beautiful places in Taroko. He has a deep knowledge of the history of the park and all the best things to see. I highly recommend this company for their tour.
Our family of four with kids ages 7 and 10 did a private tour of Old Zhuilu trail. I would only recommend going with young children if your kids are experienced hikers who can easily handle 1800 feet of climbing and who can remain calm and follow directions when needed. My initial contact was Chao, who was patient and helpful in helping us find a date. He took care of all the permits, which would have been impossible for us to do because of the language barrier. Our guide, Simon, was very knowledgeable; he shared interesting information about the trail and its history and also gave us tips about lodges in the alpine region of the park for future reference. He helped our kids maintain a good pace on the way up and kept up with the kids as they bounded back down the trail like mountain goats. He ensured we stayed safe on the perilous part. He also kindly volunteered to take a bunch of family photos for us, which are hard to get when we're on our own. Snacks and lunch included egg roll cookies, sandwiches, hot milk tea and coffee provided by Simon, along with our own snacks. We finished the hike before 2 pm and had time to stop at Eternal Spring Shrine, the Visitor Center (our request), Qingshui Cliff, a food stall with deep-fried scallion pancakes, and a Vietnamese restaurant before Simon dropped us off.
Jeff met our group of 8 at the Hualien port and we comfortably rode in a lovey VW van and started with a drive to Chihsingtan beach for a short stop then for a photo stop at the Chingsui clifffs. Since it started to rain we were soon on our way to Taroko park and did some short walks to see different areas of the park and the amazingly scenic gorge. And Jeff even so kindly took us to the night market in Hualien for about an hour before dropping us off at the port that evening. Jeff did a great job explaining about some of the geology and topagraphy plus a bit of Taiwan/Chinese history and culture. His English is really good and is a very good driver too. He then drove that night to Keelung (port for Taipei area) to meet up with the group the next day for our excursions to Yehliu Geo park; then to Shenao to see the Elephant rock (tho this is a little more challenging walking wise for some of us since it involved clambering over large rocks and boulders to get to a sandy uphill incline). We also went to Jiufen village to wander around the Old street for shopping/lunch. Afterwards Jeff took us to Shifen to see the beautiful waterfall and then finished our day at the Shifen village to see the lanterns that toursits can buy and decorate and then send off into the sky. All in all...we had 2 great days of touring with Jeff and really thought that the tours were well done. We saw and experienced a lot in the time that we had in those ports and would recommend this company and Jeff to others who go there.
Ask for O.J. he was the nicest guide we have ever had. Speaks fluent english and has a lot of knoeledge, seriously we had so many questions and he answered all of them in such a peaceful manner. He took us to some secret spots that were incredibly! Also he is the perfect gentleman and a fascinating person to talk to. We were so lucky to have him as our guide and we had the most perfect day! Dor&Arielle
Jeff was an excellent tour guide. He was a careful driver and he spoke clear and precise English. He spoke loud enough for all eight people in the van to understand every word. The tour included a stop at a local beach, the park, including a couple of short hikes, and a brief stop at the night market. We were gone all day and arrived back about 30 minutes before the final boarding call of our ship. The arrival time back was our decision, to include as much as possible. I recommend Jeff and his small company to anyone. He is a kind considerate and knowledgeable guide and human being.
We booked the tour early with Jeff, but then Jeff was busy and we went with Simon and Paul. Simon was especially knowledgeable about the place. He was very kind and well arrange to ensure we visit all scenic places. The tour was supposedly to be 8 hours, but we were late behind the schedule. Simon was very kind to extend the time to ensure that we could complete our schedule. He also had great treats for us, which was scallion pancake. It was great. He also carried us to a good goose restaurant, and then also picked us up to go to the train station on time. Paul was also a great companion, adding lots of insight and local views on Taroko as well as Taiwanese life. In a foreign country, it is so warm to meet local people who are so nice to you. This tour is an exceptional value for money!!! Highly recommended!!!
We booked this private day tour just a day before our actual visit and we did not regret at all! Simon our tour guide was fantastic all along. He had a fantastic itinerary planned for us to see the most important highlights of the park and made sure that we were able to enjoy the spots before the large groups arrived. Simon was a perfect companion for this tour and we learnt a lot about the history of the park, aboriginals, Hualein city and Taiwan. After a long day of hiking and mesmerizing views Simon took us to eat the best "chong you bing". If anybody is looking for an English speaking tour for the Taroko National Park or other attractions we would highly recommend Taiwan Vista Tour
