Tangier Private Walking Tour: Kasbah And Medina

We just finished an incredible private tour of Tangier with our guide, Jamal, and our driver, Hafid. They were on time and picked us up from our hotel. Being a private tour, Jamal took time to listen to our interests and designed the tour to our likings. Jamal was a fantastic guide who truly showed us the best parts of this beautiful city. He took us to all the major highlights, as well as some wonderful shops and a great local spot for lunch. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and kind. This was a 5-star experience, and we are so glad we did it!

We had a lovely morning walking tour of Tangier with Saeed in April 2026. He is super friendly and knowledgeable and loves to share the history of his town with visitors, whom he treats like guests/friends. His English is perfect and his walking/talking pace was just right - we got to see lots of the kasbah/medina and even stopped for a lovely tea/coffee break in the 9 April square. We highly recommend Saeed for any tour in Morocco!

Great tour but lots of steps uphill and downhill. Not suitabke for anyone with walking problems. Said was very knowledgeable and helpful on history of Tangier.

Our guide, Said Madani, was excellent. He is very well versed in the history of Tangier and kept us informed of the significance of each place we visited and where important events took place. He is friendly, has a wry sense of humor, and seems to know everyone in Tangier. He was able to customize our walking tour and led us to out of the way places when we had a request for something specific (spices!). Highly recommended.

Mohammed was an excellent guide! He took us into the small neighborhoods and alleyways of Tangier. His stories brought the area to life. His knowledge of multiple languages and cultures reflected the vibrant atmosphere. He shared about his own life growing up Tangier, which made our experience even richer. Mohammed is very thoughtful and hired a taxi to take us up to the kasbah as I had developed a problem with my ankle. We highly recommend Mohammed and would tour with him again!

100% recommend booking a guide with Saeed. He planned the tour according to what we wanted to visit and was super flexible with meeting place and time. He started the tour inviting us to breakfast and helped us pick a traditional tangier meal. He took us to so many cool places that we would've never found if we were going by ourselves. He knows a lot about the history of Morocco and the things he tells during the tour are very interesting. We felt super safe and I definitely recommend booking a tour with Saeed.

I highly recommend Said. He met us right when we got off the ferry and literally waited until we got back on the ferry at the end of the day. Our ferry was potentially cancelled and Said waited to make sure we were able to get on. He even brought us pasties at the ferry station before we left. Needless to say, he went above and beyond. He started the tour welcoming us and that is how we felt the entire day, welcome to this incredible city. We learned so much from him and also felt like we were able to experience the city not just as tourists. We have two children (13 and 14) and we are very grateful they were able to experience this city with the guidance of Said. We visited many places on our trip and this was both of our kids' favorite part, thanks to Said.

Said was a great person to show us around Tangier and share his knowledge of the city’s history and present. Like the other Viator guides we employed on our trip, he was easy to communicate with both beforehand and during our tour.

Wonderful tour guide. Said was super responsive. He answered texts almost instantly. He gave precise instructions on how to meet. He was on time, in fact, he was available before our agreed-upon time, which was great. Fully fluent in English. He took us through a lot of small streets (which was great), sharing stories, histories, and local traditions. When we said we didn't want to visit another store, he immediately changed plans. He found us toilets when we needed them. He took us to a nice cafe to have delicious Moroccan mint tea. In short, he was an amazing guide. We would book another tour with him without a doubt.

The tour was excellent. Saad gave us an excellent introduction to Tangiers and focused on our specific interests and desires. Prior to the walking tour he gave us a ride around Tangier and from the top of the hill we started our walking tour. The city is steeped in history and he seemed well verse in the history., Having coffee with him and learning about his life and his hopes made the tour very special. We would recommended using him highly.

We wanted to make the most of our one day in Tangier so we hired a guide. There is no way we could have done a fraction of the things if we had been on our own. The camel ride was a highlight. Short but so fun. Saeed made sure we found the souvenirs we wanted and took us to the trusted places where they are manufactured. He was attentive to all our needs for food, water, bathroom, pictures, time alone… He had really thought of everything. He is a professional and we felt very safe with him.

No show by guide ruined our day in tangiers. Fee was refunded but very disappointed with this company. Booked and paid in August 2024.

Everything was perfect, thanks to Bilal. He kept in touch with us all the time / before our arrival and after our departure/ and arranged everything the way , that we had a very good time in Tangier in the short time we had.

Miguel picked our group of 16 in a very nice spacious bus. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and experienced. We were given lots of background info about Ronda and Mijas, ample time for bathroom and food breaks plus visiting all the significant sites. Very good guide and tour.

We were late joining Said's tour (our fault), but Said got us caught up, and took time for a great mint tea while in the medina. He was a great guide and we were impressed with him, wish we had more time to learn about old Tangiers, properly described as "chaos and charm." He also took us by a most impressive rug bazar, and I did not even get their name? Does it even have one? We highly recommend Viator and this particular experience.

Said messaged me while on the ferry from Tairifa and we arranged to meet at the Tangier port ahead of our scheduled start time of 10am. Said was a fantastic guide. We wanted a relaxing stroll through the town so that we could soak in all the sights and sounds and Said really delivered on this for us. We had a wonderful walking tour learning about the history and people of Tangier. Saeed was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He helped us out even after the tour by taking us to the train station and getting us train tickets for the next day. He truly went above and beyond. I have done many walking tours, and Saeed’s tour of Tangier was amongst the very best. I will absolutely do his tour again in the future.

Said was great. He was waiting for us when we got off our cruise ship and we immediately started the tour. He provided an excellent 3 hour tour through the interesting parts of Tangier, including background and history on the city and country - which appeals to me as a history buff. Overall an excellent experience and we would definitely recommend his services.

We had a specific list of requests which were followed precisely. Our guide Abderrahmane met us at the port gate on time as arranged. He was courteous, knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. As we had asked that there shouldn’t be TOO much walking he sensibly took us by taxi to the top of the hill then we meandered down through the Kasbah and the Souk. We had requested coffee stops but no shopping and to get a flavour of the city and its people. That is exactly what we did. Altogether an excellent introduction to Tangier.

I would highly recommend Said as a guide and his walking tour of Tangier. I had visited Morocco previously myself but was visiting Tangier for the day from Spain with my 2 children & husband. So I wanted a way to see the sights in a fairly short time, but most importantly I wanted a guide who would be reassuring for my children (14 & 11) who have some anxiety. Said was the perfect guide, he answered all of my questions by WhatsApp in the days before the tour. My children have dietary requirements (one is a coeliac) and Said was able to take us to a restaurant which understood this & they really enjoyed their lunch. The walking tour was very interesting & informative - we saw and learned so much more than we would have done on our own. All in all a big success thanks to a wonderful guide. Thank you Said.

Booked this tour for my college age daughter and her friend. Was a little apprehensive about two young women in Tangier alone, so wanted a tour to help guide them. Said was amazing! I had a few questions beforehand and he was very responsive on WhatsApp. He met the girls at their hotel and they toured around the medina for several hours relaying interesting history and relating it to current day. The girls were thrilled with the experience - was a highlight of their visit for sure!

The tour was truly amazing! We got to see the city of tangier from the perspective of a local and explore the markets. Said, our tour guide, made sure to personalize the tour to what we wanted to do, and he took a lot of pictures along the way! I particularly enjoyed the real Moroccan silver! We also stopped by a community oven, where we got to try some bread being prepared for Ramadan. Overall, the tour was very enjoyable and Said was an amazing guide!

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer our questions. We scheduled kinda of last minute the night before and he meet us at the ferry as scheduled. We were kept well informed and as promised he got us back to our ferry on time. Views were incredible and it was well worth it to have a tour guide to explain all the history of this wonderful city.

Amazing tour! When I travel, I like to see the “real” side of where I’m at, not just the tourist hotspots. Saeed went above and beyond for us. We started at a mosque and made our way all over the Medina, the Kasbah, and the Zoco. He gave us the real history of Tangier and explained the present culture. Took us for an authentic Moroccan snack and tea and everything. A must if you’re in the area, you won’t regret it! He won’t try to push a pointless and random celebrity house viewing on you, instead you’ll see the fish and meat market where you’ll see the real deal 😉😉😉

We booked this tour last minute and loved every second. Saeed is extremely personable and insightful which made this tour extra special. We also had some lovely tea and pastries at the end! Would recommend Saeed to anyone new in the city and keen to know more about Tanger.

We had walked around the day before and felt like we had seen everything but Saeed showed us so much more of this beautiful city than we could have found on our own and made us feel very welcome. This tour was everything I was hoping for. Saeed showed me all around the kasbah and Medina. We grabbed some mint tea and had an authentic Moroccan lunch during the tour. The locations we saw were beautiful, and Saeed was a great guide. You can tell he really loves Tangier. If you are a little nervous about navigating the streets and alleyways of the Medina for the first time, or if you just want to experience the beauty of Tangier, then I would definitely recommend Saeed to be your guide. I enjoyed learning about the architecture of the buildings and the history of Tangier. He also gave me some good recommendations for restaurants to try and places to go during my time here after the tour.

Saiid was a wonderful tour guide and we learned so much about tangier in the few short hours we were there. He was so kind and generous, buying us olives, mint tea and water as well as a box of treats before we left. I let him know that my uncle has a hard time walking up a lot of steps and hills and he had a car pick us up to drop us at the first location. He took us to various shops where we learned about carpet and scarf making as well as oils, pottery and jewelry. Our entire day was wonderful, tailored to what we wanted to see and I cannot recommend Saiid enough as a tour guide. He is a must if you’re doing a day trip to tangier (he also works in other parts of Morocco as well!) Will definitely be contacting him if I ever get a chance to go back to Morocco!
