We had a wonderful and full circle experience! We tried different foods (I particularly appreciate the "hole on the walls" kind of places), while having everything beautifully tied with history and stories about the city and even visiting some local crafts places that just took the experience really to another level! I
We had the absolute pleasure of exploring Tangier’s culinary gems with Rabab, our guide. From the moment we met her, her warmth and friendliness set the tone for a relaxed and engaging experience. She led us through a thoughtfully curated route that avoided the typical tourist hot spots giving us a true taste of Tangier as the locals know it. The highlight was undoubtedly the bissara soup, served piping hot in a tucked-away spot down a quiet back street. It was humble, hearty and absolutely delicious, made even more special by the authenticity of the setting. Rabab’s passion for her city and its food was infectious and her ability to connect stories with flavors made the tour feel personal and memorable. If you’re looking for a genuine, flavorful journey through Tangier, Rabab is the guide to seek out.
Wow, what an amazing food tour we had with Rabab - she was so knowledgeable and helpful. We tried some amazing local foods and ate so much! This tour is excellent value and it was a great experience to go ‘off the beaten track’ to sample some local foods and visit places away from the usual tourist destinations. Thanks so much Rabab - we’ll definitely be back!
Rabab was an amazing guide, she took us to the local markets away from the tourist areas so we could experience the real local cuisine. We has such a great time and enjoyed so much food. We especially loved the swordfish tagine.
What an amazing experience we have had. Absolutely incredible! Bilal is so passionate about it and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Bilal you are simply the best.
We had an absolutely fantastic tour with Bilal. He has so much knowledge about the history and culture of Tangier - a truly cosmopolitan city. It’s not my first time in Tangier so I didn’t expect to learn as much as I did - but I feel like I know the city so much more than I did before the tour. The food was delicious and Bilal’s story telling and sense of humour added to every bite. Relaxed, fun & delicious - everything a food tour should be!
We took this food tour with Mohammed, a kind and knowledgeable young guide. There were only the 2 of us on the tour, this allowed us to go even deeper in the culture as well, indeed Mohammed replied to all our curiosities about life here apart from the food ones. Our gluten free request (my boyfriend is celiac) was met. The highlight for us was the visit to the fruit and vegetables market and especially the one to the fish and meet market, quite impressing for us. Overall, highly recommended tour :)
This tour was a great introduction for us on our first visit to Tangier. Very kind and knowledgeable tour guide. Nice walking tour and information about Tangier while we walked to some very nice local food locations.
Fantastic tour! We were taken to places where locals go. We got to see a large part of the city and learn about Tangier and Morocco.
My husband and I traveled with my in-laws to Tangier on 21/3/23 and met our guide Mohammed for a food tour. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour and guide during our time in Morocco. Mohammed took us to places tourists would never be able to find, and most importantly showed us everyday life of Moroccans by walking us through the markets and neighborhoods and all around the Medina. Mohammed was very knowledgeable and gave us loads of history which our group loved. We had a variety of good snacks and traditional food throughout the day ( do not eat before this tour). I would highly recommend Mohammed to anyone visiting Tangier or Morocco, he helped make our day stress-free and gave us an unforgettable experience. Thanks Mohammed!
Amazing tour! We met up with Mohamed and he gave us the best tour of Tangier! We went through the busy socco, the small streets, tried his favorite soup-place, juice-bar and streetfood before ending the tour in an all-local restaurant with a traditional ramadhan-meal, where noone ate until the sun had set! Amazing experience, so thank you, Mohamed, for the best tour!
Such a great tour! Because Muhammad, our guide, grew up in the city he was able to share great stories about Tangier culture, food and history. He was such fun to hang out with and we quickly felt like old friends just getting together! The food was exceptional — we went to places and tried things we’d never have found had we not been with Muhammad!
Perfect way to get introduced to Tangiers - on foot, with a true local (Mohammed was born in the Medina), with plenty of delicious food on the way. It felt like much more than a food tour - a mix of history, culture, and city exploration. The tour was very well designed and paced - walking mixed with food so we got to enjoy a lot of food but also did feel like we needed to kneel over afterward because we had time to digest and enjoy. Mohammed was a superlative tour guide - he's a pro who also has a private tour business, and it shows. He was very knowledgable about all aspects of Tangier and Morocco in general, and also super personable. We felt like we got to know him and his experiences. He also was able to connect us to trusted guides in our cities that helped us plan our experiences in other cities we were visiting. highly recommend the activity, definitely ask for Mohammed!
We did the tangier food tour and it was awesome I highly recommend it and especially with Mohammad. Super nice guide and quite knowledgeable . He is a tangier local who grew up in the Medina so he has a lot of insights into life growing up in Tangier. We went to an area that wasn't very touristy but was bustling with locals. I especially enjoyed being out in these areas away from the touristy Medina and more with the locals and to see local life and this is where we went for a good portion of the tour. It was super interesting, the food was great and i learnt a lot. Mohammad was a wonderful guide and I highly recommend him.
This is a great way to not only try local food, but get a local guide to walk you through the old city Medina. It’s easy to get lost in there, and is better than exploring on your own as a tourist. Food: Mint tea with fresh mint (North Moroccan version), traditional omelette & cheese with cumin breakfast, fresh squeezed orange juice at cafe Tingas, cucumber and lemon juice, lamb kebabs barbecue, homemade lamb with plumbs and Moroccan bread. No need to eat breakfast! Enjoy once you’re on the tour :) Tour: Most of the tour took place inside the Medina, or old city, but part of it was outside. - Men weaving rugs and spools of thread - Breakfast cafe - Local food market with chicken feather plucking and vegetable selling - Public Moroccan oven with demonstration - Cafe Tingas: busy hub for tourists and locals alike. Lots of restaurants and fun to come back to if have time. - Rooftop stops over the Medina - Rug shop - Local home visit in place of additional restaurants due to the tour falling on the Eid al-Adha holiday Guide: Moha is local to Morocco and he lives with his family near Tangier. He knows the city well, including a good relationship with the many shop keepers on the tour. He will pay the places you visit, as it’s included in your price of the tour - so you can just relax and enjoy. He is sure to tell you no pressure to buy when visiting stores. He is open to answering any questions above Morocco, unrelated to food, to enhance the tour experience. He is a very friendly guide and we felt safe/well cared for throughout the day. He also uses WhatsApp for easy communication leading up to the tour.
We did the food tour with Mohammed, it was a great experience! During the tour, Mohammend told us very interesting facts about Tangier and the Moroccan culture, he gave us tipps, we tried various delicous dishes (recommendable for vegetarians) and we got to know Tangier from a different angle – we wouldn’t have seen all the beautiful places if we hadn’t done the tour. Summed up, the tour is a perfect introduction into the Moroccan food culture and the history of Tangier. We would defenitely do it again, with Mohammend, of course! Thank you for this fun and beautiful day!
Our guide Mohammed was excellent. We got a real local experience, going to many places that tourists never see. The fried sardines were the best!
Mohamed was an awesome tour guide and shared with us interesting facts and delicious food. He was flexible with our itenerary to help us do some shopping and made sure we got back to the port with plenty of time to catch our return ferry to Spain. He was also very helpful in deterring the interest of a few shady and aggressive locals.
From the start of the tour we were impressed by our guide! His knowledge of the city was really great and he navigated us easily through the maze of the town trying different foods starting with Churros and tea, walking through the markets to taste dried fruits, fried sardines, goat chesse, and olives, and ending at an amazing resturant for a 4 course lunch. Trust me, you will not go hungry on this tour! Our group was 9 people plus one other person who only spoke spanish. He made sure all of us could understand him and was enjoying the tour. At the end of the tour, he found out we were all leaving on the ferry that afternoon so he offered to help us getback to the ferry, as well as show us around the shops and castle. We are so thankful for his help with shopping and getting back to the ferry as the ladies in our group were alittle uncomfortable walking around without him- he made us feel very safe! Thank you so much for an amazing time!
Abdel was knowledgable and accommodated my many dietary constraints throughout the tour. Everything we tried came with an explanation of how the food was relevant to the culture or history of Morocco. He even escorted us back to our riad and arranged dinner reservations for my partner and me.
