This was the best experience we had in Tangier. We learned so much about Moroccan food and customs while making the meal. Sitting in their home, we laughed and talked together as we ate the delicious lunch we’d made. Plus Bills was so helpful in answering lots of questions about the area and Morocco in general that I wish we had done this right when we arrived.

We stay around 2 weeks in Morocco, this experience is absolutely our favorite. Hospitality in Morocco is unique so we are glad to have this experience with Bilal and his wife. Bilal organized the time and picked the ingredients right way as local and Sana(Bilal's wife- please correct me if i miss spelling her name 😅) makes this experience with tru moroccan hospitality. It was such a great pleasure and quiet, special time with this beautiful family and amazing food. Shkran🫶🏻
We had an amazing time with Balil and his lovely wife and daughters who invited us into their home to learn to cook chicken tangine and to make Moroccan mint tea. This was truly the highlight of our trip to Tangier. We met Balil in the Grand Socco, just outside of the Medina, and then walked with him to an herb shop to learn about Berber medicine before walking back to the Grand Socco where his apartment is located. He and his family made us feel like part of their family as we cooked and then dined together. Make time if you can for this chance to meet some truly delightful people while learning about Moroccan culture.
This was by far, the best excursion that we have had on our 23 day journey! Bilal met us at the cruise port and walked us through the old Medina with a stop to buy bread and olives for our cooking class! We arrived at his apartment and were warmly greeted by his beautiful wife, Sanae! We had so much fun preparing our salad and tajine! An absolute feast with mint tea and pomegranate and raisins for dessert! We highly recommend this excursion-you will not be disappointed!
Our experience was amazing! Bilal was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Tangier and the walking tour was not only educational but also fascinating! As we wound through the streets of the historic Medina, we learned about the history while shopping for bread and olives for our cooking class! We then arrived at Bilal and his wife, Sanae’s beautiful apartment to start our lesson for a traditional Moroccan lunch-chicken tajine, salad, bread with a variety of amazing olives and finishing with delicious pomegranates and raisins & mint tea!! We learned all about how the tajine works and all of the spices that go into a traditional meal! When we finally sat down together to eat what we had prepared, we had the best time comparing cultures and laughing about things we have in common. Bilal and Sanae could not have been more welcoming and gracious!! It was definitely the highlight of our trip and we highly recommend this experience!!
Very nice experience home cooking tajine with chicken showed me some nice spots also in the city, for the best food will recommend this for chill and good learning experience!
We had a wonderful personal dining experience with Bilal and his family. We cooked a delicious meal in a clay Tajeen, and Bilal shared his knowledge of Tangier with us. Highly recommend!
This was a very nice experience cooking dinner with a local family in their apartment. It was just my husband and I and he and his wife. Their 2 daughters were also in the apartment. They are all very nice people. We prepared a chicken tagine and a seafood tagine. They were delicious! We also made a salad and we had pomegranate seeds and raisins for dessert. We really enjoyed the experience and the meal.
Our family spent two weeks exploring Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, and Morocco—taking in everything from historic sites to a food tour in Lisbon. Yet nothing compared to the experience we had with Bilal in Tangier. He welcomed us into his home where we met his wonderful wife and two daughters, and from the moment we stepped into the local market with him, we knew this tour was unlike anything else. We walked through the stalls where locals buy their meat, fish, spices, and produce, and then returned to his home to prepare and share a traditional Moroccan meal together. Bilal not only guided us through Tangier’s culture—he invited us to live it. Preparing food side by side, learning about traditions, and sitting around the table with his family was the highlight of our entire trip. This wasn’t just dinner with a guide, it was an unforgettable connection with new friends. If you ever visit Tangier, don’t miss this opportunity. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you forever.
Bilal and his wife warmly welcomed our family into their home for a private cooking class. It was an amazing cultural experience! The food we made was delicious. This experience and our time here will stay with us forever. I highly recommend doing this cooking class!
I had the most lovely evening with Bilal and his family. I was so happy his daughters joined the class given that I was the only participant. We made a tagine and a cucumber, onion, and tomato salad. Bilal’s wife made a delicious eggplant dish which was my favourite. Afterwards, we all ate together. I felt totally at ease in this home, and my heart was warmed by their hospitality. It would have been nice to make something like pastries or more unique sides in order to learn some new cooking skills though. But all in all, a very pleasant experience!
We were taken on a tour through the medina farmers market by Balil who was enthusiastic and very knowledgable about Tangier and the history of the area. On returning to his home we met his lovely wife who introduced us to Morrocan cooking in her own kitchen. The whole trip was delightful and all extremely tasty! We all could not recommend Balil and his lovely family more highly .
Bilal's cooking class was amazing! First, we went to the market and he showed me the spices used for Moroccan cooking and we chose the spices for the lemon chicken tajine. Next, we went back to Bilal's house where I met his lovely wife and children, they welcomed me like family! Bilal and his wife taught me how to make the tajine. We had a sit down meal and the tajine I made was delicious! We also made bread and had mint tea. It was a wonderful experience and very authentic. A cooking class you will always remember. I highly recommend!
Bilal was a fantastic host, he agreed to do the class for me alone and finding a time that works for both of us instead of cancelling on me which I am grateful for. The cooking class starts with going into the market and some other shops. You then go to his house and start cooking the food. Lastly you eat the food! Highly recommend doing this cooking class if you are in Tangier!
Highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting the city! Bilal was very kind, welcoming, and had a wealth of knowledge about the city. We cooked tagine with his beautiful family and had plenty of time to sit down and enjoy our meal in his lovely home.
Bilal was such a warm and friendly gentleman. He toured us around Tangier markets & shops before we were invited into his home where he and his wife Sanae taught us how to make and prepare a traditional Moroccan meal. Which was absolutely a blast and turned delicious. We talked & laughed until our sides hurt. My cheeks were sore from smiling for days. We felt absolutely comfortable and relaxed- they made sure of it. We left feeling like family and have since kept in touch. He and his wife reaching out making sure we’ve made it to our next destination safely and finally home. I was traveling with my best friends of 30 yrs & as 2 single women travels I felt so safe, cared for and respected by him and his wife. I wholeheartedly recommend Bilal for ANY and all guide needs.
Bilal and his wife were extremely welcoming and kind to my group. We had so much fun participating in cultural exchange and the food we made was delicious! The experience was a perfect combination of everything and we felt very safe. Bilal was so kind even after our time with him, offering his knowledge and even bought tea for me from a local store and met up with me again to give it to me. I would recommend this to anyone looking for not only amazing food but great people too.
Had a wonderful afternoon hosted by Bilal and his wonderful family. This is truly an authentic way to prepare Moroccan cuisine with local residents in Tangier. Bilal started our day with a walk of the Kasbah and souks to pick up our ingredients for our meal and then made our way to his home where we were introduced to his wife and children. From there we learned how to prepare a traditional chicken tagine, mint tea, Moroccan salad, and bread. Throughout the whole process we learned about food preparing and traditions in Morocco. Once everything was done we got to enjoy our prepared meal, along with some special treats from the family. This was an amazing experience and could to have asked for a better way to spend our afternoon. It was more than we anticipated and highly recommend this tour to anyone travelling to Tangier.
Bilal and his family made me feel so comfortable and he taught me a lot about Moroccan culture and how different areas were formed. Although it was Ramadan, I still felt very welcome and ate with Bilal's youngest daughter. Everything was provided to make the experience much more enjoyable and the food was deliscious. I would certainly recommend this experience to anybody looking to learn about Moroccan culture and good food. It works for families too. Also Bilal was very helpful about other requests that one might have, such as taxis and other visits. I would certainly do this again on a return to Tangier.
Bilal and his family were incredible hosts and we had the most pleasant day learning how to cook Moroccan cuisine and seeing what a home is like for a normal family in Tangier. Highlight of our visit for sure and the food was obviously delicious. We made enough for an army!
Bilal showed us the highlights of the city of Tanger and enriched that with plenty of historical and cultural facts, answering all our questions. The cooking class was a great experience and we were especially amazed by the hospitality of his whole family. I definitely recommend to any traveller!
We had a wonderful experience learning about Moroccan culinary life during our cooking class with a local family in Tangier. From shopping at the market to cooking traditional soup and chicken pastila, every moment was delightful. Highly recommended for those seeking an interactive and authentic culinary experience in Tangier.
My brother and I made a special request to learn how to make Tajin Kefta, Chicken Pastilla, Soupe Harira, and msemn (aaghif?). Bilal and Sanaa were gracious and patient teachers, and we really enjoyed their daughters. The class was completely hands on and the resulting dishes were fantastic. It was the best pastilla I've had so far. They're a lovely couple who work well together and seemed too have fun, as we did. Their daughters joined us for the meal and we had a fun and interesting conversation. They patiently answered our questions about Moroccan culture. It was our last day in Morocco and Bilal even arranged cabs for us for the next day. My brother and I feel comfortable making these dishes for family when we get home. Great people, lovely home, wonderful food - I highly recommend.
bilal was extraordinary, he showed us around the market, talked about the history, and above all we shared the preparation of a meal with his lovely family (couscous, salad, and tagine), not to mention the mint tea. It was great. thanks again laurent and vero
A very friendly activity that I recommend to discover Morocco and its culinary traditions.
Experience fully recommended to get to know a little more and first hand Moroccan culture. We were able to share with Bilal and his family a little while at their house, where we prepared a Tajine, a salad and a tea that were spectacular. Living what is a Moroccan house of doors inside has been an experience that we have loved and recommend 100%. Bilal speaks Spanish perfectly and is a super host. Thank you for that little bit.
Very good atmosphere, little tips and tricks , condiments to rediscover. Generous quantity. We are waiting for new discoveries.
Nice family with super warm welcome. Great tips for a successful Moroccan meal. The products used were of very good quality and tasty.
Great experience and sharing. A very welcoming family. Clear explanations and good advice. Typical food, lots of flavors.
