We were met after a two hour taxi ride with a non English speaking taxi driver, to Chefchaouen by a gentleman who just got into the taxi without any introductions whatsoever. We were then dropped off to walk around the town with this guide who merely walked very fast ahead of us to where he said "picture" at every stop. We asked to go for a coffee which he took us to a small cafe which was very nice and then we continued with the fast paced tour. After a short time he just wanted to take us to a restaurant for our lunch, this was only 12 pm (we left our hotel at 9 am and travelled 2 hours so you can see how long the tour took!) We had a light lunch and when leaving the restaurant the guide came back to check we had eaten. After this we were told where to meet the taxi driver when we wanted to head back. We had another hour or so walking around but then felt we wanted to go back to our hotel. The driver was waiting for us and took us back.

The city of Chefchaouen is a not-to-be-missed element of any tour of northern Morocco. Explore the ‘blue pearl’ of the Rif Mountains on a full-day tour from Tanger to Chefchaouen. The city was founded in 1471 as a small kasbah (fortress) by Moulay Ali ibn Rashid al-Alami, a descendant of Abd as-Salam al-Alami and Idris I, and through them, of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Al-Alami founded the city to fight the Portuguese invasions of northern Morocco.[2] Along with the Ghomara tribes of the region, many Moriscos and Jews settled here after the Spanish Reconquista in medieval times.[3] In 1920, the Spanish seized Chaouen to form part of Spanish Morocco. Spanish troops imprisoned Abd el-Krim el-Khattabi in the kasbah from 1916 to 1917, after he talked with the German consul Dr. Walter Zechlin (1879–1962).

We had a 3 day tour in Morocco: day 1 from Tarifa to Tangeri, sleeping in Chefchaouen; day 2 in Asilah, sleeping in Tangeri; day 3 in Tangeri. The organization was really perfect: Omar was professional and caring; he set up everything super quickly (taxi transfers, ferry tickets and guides). Everything went smoothly! We loved Morocco
Our guide and driver was so nice and patient, we had an amazing time in Chefchaouen, I wish we had more time, best part of my trip to Morocco.
I fell in love with the blue pearl city. I was travelling alone and I made the right choice booked a private tour to the blue city. The tour guide was very nice and polite and he even turn out to be my personal cameraman. I would definitely come back here again and definitely recommend to all of my friends and family to visit. It will be one of the life time journey that will never for get.
Wanted to do a day trip to the blue city from Marrakech. Our driver was super flexible (as we were the only ones who signed up for that day) and easy to communicate with. We arrived at Tangier train station around 10am and he picked us up right near the taxis. He drove us to the blue city (allowed us to stop for a bathroom break at a beautiful panoramic restaurant) where we were met with this sweet tour guide around 1230pm. We took loads of picture outside and inside the city (we didn't have time to explore the mountain though). The tour guide was super sweet and informative. The blue city people aren't as aggressive as the people in Marrekech so it was nice atmosphere to be in. After our ~2 hour tour, we were brought to this restaurant to eat at (not bad, cash only)- there our driver met us and told us we had the rest of the time to walk around ourselves. Since we had to be back at the train station before 7pm, we left the blue city around 4pm.
Really good and nice driver. Made everything as comfortable as possible for us. The guide was also really nice. He stopped whenever we wanted we wanted to enter a shop or wanted to take pictures. He didn’t stress us. I can really recommend this tour, really nice and good services. Thanks!
Would definitely recommend 10/10 , literally the best experience we had during our holiday. 7 of us were picked up by the driver at our hotel, in an air-conditioned Bluetooth and aux taxi. The driver was amazing and we all loved our trip to the city. At the city, we were picked up by the tour guide, who was multilingual. The tour guide showed us the best parts of the city and explained as we went along. We all loved his optimism and enthusiasm for the city, giving us an amazing experience of the city. We would love to come again and would like to personally thank the driver and the tour guide for a memorable experience.
Our trip was great. The driver stopped and let us eat breakfast since he picked us up earlier than expected. A different guide led us through Chefchaouen. It was a great tour. Definitely recommend!
Trip went well! Driver was on time. When we got the Chefchauoen we had another tour guide who showed us around. But he also took us to his friends shops so we could buy things which I didn't like. His guided tour lasted about and hour and a half and from there we were on our own to roam around. The city itself is so beauty and filled with culture. Do recommend when you are in Morocco.
This trip was very nice. The drive picked us up right on time, and it was a 2 hour drive that he broke up with a very pretty lake viewpoint in the middle. The tour guide Abdul Salam was nice and informative, but some of the information he gave may have not been true. We did have enough time to take pictures but didnt end up having lunch until 3pm which was a bit late.
Really enjoyed this trip. The drive to the city was very interesting. The guide in the city took us on a comfortable pace through many different parts of the city. Stopping often to point out items of interest about the culture and giving a detailed description of the background and meaning. Both the guide and the driver coordinated their portions of the tour to make sure we had the opportunity to see the maximum amount of the city, but still stay on schedule with our ship's departure schedule.
Beware. This is NOT a private guided trip OR tour. You also will not actually get any free time to shop or visit anything on your own. I spent a significant amount of time researching options, and spent a significant amount more money to do this tour and have a private driver and guide, and free time, as advertised on this website. We were in a mixed language group (NOT private), given an hour and a half tour, then required to eat lunch somewhere that I would not have picked. After that, our driver said we had 20 minutes to look at the extremely touristy little shops near our assigned restaurant, and we were not allowed to go anywhere else. I have filed a complaint, and at this point the only resolution offered has been $13 refund. I will update my review as this is resolved, but as of now I would not only recommend NOT booking this tour, I would NOT recommend booking ANYTHING through Viator as they have been completely unhelpful in resolving this issue of what is very clearly false advertising. I spent a week in Morocco and this was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to, only to be the most disappointed.
Basically my trip was good. I enjoyed the drive and the blue city was very nice. I did not enjoy at all the tour guide that was assigned to us. He was an old man who thought a lot of himself. We finally broke away from him as he wanted to speak mostly about himself and take us to the shops of his friends. He would not listen to what we wanted to do and see. I had friends who took the trip the day before and they had a wonderful young guide.
Easy going sort of tour. We went on a Friday which is couscous day so it was fairly quiet. The trip there was a manic drive with lots of overtaking. The restaurant for lunch was nice. Wear a cute outfit for photos! The guide is local and has a fair bit of knowledge - he knew the Instagram spots. Please be respectful of the locals when taking photos. They don’t mind you taking photos of the buildings but they don’t want to be photographed.
Overall we were happy with our tour, with our driver being on time at our hotel pickup and drop off. He was very talkative. The tour started with a local once we got to Chaouen, with a local giving us a walk around the city. There's a few things to be mindful of - the guided tour was only around 1-1.5 hrs around Chaouen, with our guide leaving us at lunch time for free time (which was all good) as he went off to get lunch for a friend. The guide will also take you to two of his friend's stores and they will ask you if you want to buy their carpets, so make sure you say no thank you. The tour guide will also ask you for a tip at the end of the tour, which we were slightly annoyed about given we'd already paid for the trip. But overall it was worth having the tour from Tangier!

Overall, we had a great day and were glad we did this tour. Having never been to Morocco, it was a fascinating experience. Our driver Jamal was very nice and an excellent driver. It's about a 2 hour drive from Tangier to Chefchaouen with some interesting scenery along the way. Our guide there was Mostafa. He is a Chefchaouen native and was very nice, knowledgable, funny and spoke English quite well. About the only thing we didn't like and the reason I didn't rate this tour 5 stars is the part of the tour where they took us to a carpet shop. Mostafa asked if we wanted to go to a Berber Market and it sounded interesting so we said yes. It wasn't what we expected. They sat us down and gave us tea and kept showing us different rugs and things, which were beautiful. They were fairly nice but it did get a little uncomfortable and was somewhat of a buzz kill to what had been up to that point, a wonderful tour. If you have no interest in rugs/carpets , I would recommend being more aggressive about saying no. We were trying to be polite, which probably subjected us to a longer sales presentation than if we just said no from the beginning.

What made up for it was the outstanding lunch we had at the place Mostafa recommended. Outstanding Moroccan cuisine and very affordable for the quality of the food and service. Overall, Chefchaouen is a beautiful place and well worth the visit.

My driver and tour guide were very professional and knowledgeable. Chefchaouen is a beautiful village to tour. Amazing photos, lots of walking and great shopping that is cheaper than the bigger cities. The people dont harass you to purchase items from their shops. Lots of authentic items and memories for a lifetime. I would visit Chefchaouen over and over because its so unique. Its like going back in time and feeling like you were there in the early days.

If your visiting Tangier, Chefchaouen is simply not to be missed. You can check out the photos online to give you an idea, but if you really want to see the city in person, a walking tour is the way to go. This tour worked out great: a short 1 - 2 hour drive to Chefchaouen, a few hours with a guide to point out all the most scenic streets, doorways, and other locations to really soak up the beauty including a nice overlook of the city and take great pictures, then back to Tangier - with stops each way for coffee and a nice meal at your own expense. The driver was very friendly and gregarious and had excellent English, and the guide was great at pointing out all the best sights. Highly recommended!

it's not worth the money at all, I have a guide who had other motives for example he was giving me shortened time- frames for chaouen telling me I have to finish by 2 pm, and then wants me to pay extra to take me to Asila. I wish I felt a little freedom more to explore Chaouen... he was also trying to sell me some weed, I mean why would I want that esp in a muslim country where everything is almost illegal, ugh!!!

best trip of my life
good driver

only bad guide men its an old man lool

Excellent tour!!! From the beginning of the pick-up at the very punctual hotel, along the route the driver very kindly commented on the local customs and indicated its characteristics in each place, making stops at the viewpoints. Once we arrived in Chauen, the Spanish-speaking guide was waiting for us to welcome us and together we would tour the city. It is a fantastic place because of the decoration of its houses, culture exposed at every step and safety during the visit. Both the driver of the vehicle, the local guide and the person who sells the tour were very kind and attentive to our needs as a family. A magical experience!!!
It's an extraordinary city, attractive, nice , I've been there three times from 2004 to 2008 and 2014 .I like
Chefchaouen a cidade azul é incrível e deve ser incluída quando se visita o Marrocos. Prepare-se para tirar muitas fotos. O motorista muito habilidoso e solicito deve ser destacado, assim como o competente guia local.
walk through the streets and share the flavors and perfumes of the place just to spend a day and meet
An unforgettable day with an hourly driver at the hotel, an exciting and very friendly guide Chefchaouen is a beautiful medina not to be missed during your stay in Morocco
