o today I finally crossed Chefchaouen “the blue city” off my bucket list. Simply one of the most beautiful towns I’ve ever been to. The architecture, doors, the people, the cats, the light, the shadows and the myriad shades of blue were just what dreams are made of. I could spend days here enjoying this small town. Morocco has so much to love 💕 Visit to Tetouen “the Green City” after our tour of the blue city. It’s also a World Heritage site and an important Capitol in the north of Morocco 🇲🇦. Many Spanish and Jewish influences here and Franco would come here often. Like the blue city of Chefchaouen many Jews escaped here. But only one synagogue remains, which we saw. On buildings here you can spot the Star of David in the tiles. In the Medina here it was like walking past several hundred of personal Goodwill stalls. As you can see you can even find the kitchen sink, to phones, to single shoes. I got to taste some of the Berber soft cheese which had a delicious tang. Our guide, Said, led us to an old apothecary in a Riad with huge ceilings and walls lined with herbs and oils. Then they led us to the rooftop. Wow what a gift of the beautiful view to the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlas mountains. The cool breeze in this city was a respite from the heat we endured in the Blue city earlier in the day.
Awesome places, awesome driver, very profesdional guides. Tetouan was unexpected and spesial. Chefchauen is amazing
-The Choufchouf was amazing; we had to hike with the guide for two hours and 1 hour to ourselves. That wasn't enough time, so after half an hour we went exploring on our own without guide. -Old Medina, Tetouana was superfluous to walk in between. Walking in the Centre had been enough.
Chefchaouen and our guide Fouad was the highlight of this excursion. Fouad was a great knowledgeable host and guide of his city. Aside from the quaintness of painting the buildings blue, what I really liked was that this is a functioning town/medina that we were able to experience and less of a tourist trap. The visit to the Tetouan medina was an experience in itself as it was so much more crowded than Chefchaouen. Said was a great host as well. Hamid was our driver and was able to navigate the streets admirably. The only thing missing from the excursion was the bottled water and gift in the description.
We really enjoyed this trip , especially the guided tour in Chefchauen with the local guide Najim
Long day but absolutely worth it. Both Chefchaouen and Tétouan are beautiful. I know lots of tours just do the Blue City but the White Dove (which has UNESCO heritage designation) is also worth a visit—the city is on the way and the visit is not as but definitely worth checking out if you like history and heritage. Both guides were great and spoke well in English. The driver was not as fluent but was super kind and kept the group happy with his energy and friendliness.
We had a great time with Yousseff our guide. Right from the get go he was showing us places along the way. Good experience love it.
We were a private tour of 7 to Tetouan and Chefchaouen. Our driver was wonderful and got us there and back safely in terrible wet weather! Our guide Said in Tetouan was so informative and showed us a lot in the time we had. We all enjoyed him. He was dressed so nicely! In Chefchaouen our guide Najib was the best! His English was excellent and he was super friendly! He had a well thought out tour and history and information to go with it! He answered all our questions and also gave us a sense of local life. We would ask for Najib again!
The ride you destination was horrible. The seats were very tight with very little legroom. We signed up for an English speaking tour but ended up on a tour that was divided into English and Spanish. Our guide for the tour of Chefchouen was good but our guide in Tetouen was very vdifficult to understand his English
The first part of the tour was excellent - Chefchaouen is a beautiful village and we had many opportunities for pictures and some free time on our own to look around. Lunch there was excellent - paid by us, not the tour, as noted in the tour description. The tour of Tetuouan was too structured and included the obligatory stop at a shop selling argan-related products. We had no free time to explore on our own. I would suggest eliminating or reducing the tour time in Tetuouan and allow more free time.
The tour of the Chefchaouen was wonderful!!! Our guide spoke great English, and was very informative. Met some fun people, whom I shared lunch with a rooftop overlooking the beautiful blue city. Magical experience! Our next stop was Teteuan , which I could’ve skipped. There really wasn’t much to see, the tour guide was difficult to understand, and he took us to a shop with demonstrations, argon oil, etc., with the requisite sales pitch at the end. Extra stop made for a long day, lasting 11 hours.
There were parts of the experience that were good, but the negatives outweighed the positives for our tour. Mostly, it's very clear that a great guide makes all the difference for this tour, and we got unlucky with one who was not good. Our day was flipped from the usual sequence, so we visited Tetouan first. The views in the drive were lovely and the tour there was pretty good. Our guide did his best to juggle giving explanations in four different languages for the different members of the group. We spent over two hours touring Tetouan, and then instead of having a lunch break there, we drove directly down to Chefchaouen. Luckily we had brought some snacks with us, otherwise we would have had a very hard time. We arrived in Chefchaouen at 2:30 and our guide did take us directly to a restaurant for lunch. After lunch, our guide gave us a brief introduction, but then he proceeded to lead us around on a long walk in the sun and afternoon heat with almost no talking about what we were seeing or where we were going. The blue city is very pretty and we got some nice pictures, but it was not much of a tour. He did share a few bits of history and culture, but it was a few minutes scattered throughout more than two hours of walking. By the end, everyone was exhausted, and then we had the whole long drive back to Tangier (and no more water when we got back to the van, which was a small thing that would have helped a lot). Our tour was a disappointment, but if it had been the normal sequence and we'd had a good guide for Chefchaouen in the morning when it was cooler and then had a chance to eat lunch at a reasonable time, it might have been a very different experience.
The best experience ever, amazing tour with professional guides that shown us all the places. Really worth it, would recommend it and go again! Thank you so much! 🙏🏼❤️🇲🇦
We loved our tour! It was well worth the time and money. However - I think a good tour guide changes everything! We had a great guide for Chef. The tour in Chef was 2 hours and then we have 2 hours for lunch / free time, most people were waiting for the guide for the last 30 minutes ready to go - this coludí be shorter? We had not such a great guide for Tetouan. He spoke quietly, was not personable, didn’t answer questions well and seemed opinion over fact based. Tetouan I could have skipped altogether, it was a long day and we were late coming home by 9:30pm instead of 7:30-8pm like the itinerary listed. The bus also did not have AC as listed? It was very hot! Those are the only criticisms - all in all I would recommend! Beautiful visit, good value for money spent.
This was a quick trip that was well worth it. Tetouan is quite nice, with a historic medina, and Chefchouen is in a class by itself. Both are Spanish-influenced cities, which was an interesting change after being in Tangier. As far as this tour operator... despite the fact that we had 2 unexpected issues come up during the trip (the van had a problem and then someone in the group hurt their leg), the drivers and guides made sure that we got the full experience. Pro tip: grab lunch at a hole-in-the-wall in Chefchouen rather than a touristy place - look for 4 star rated places where locals are eating. Ladies pro tip: I got henna on my hand in the main square, and got tons of compliments on it from Moroccans afterwards. It is also one of the few opportunities for you to give cash to a woman directly in Morocco. Just let it sit on as long as you can before peeling it off, and do your best to protect it from the sun afterwards, or it will fade quickly.
We had an exceptional day trip to Chefchaouen and Tetoine. The weather was perfect. The ride was smooth and scenic . Our driver (Ayoub) is a really great person, kind , caring, helpful and very safe driver. The guides who showed us around in Chef ( Murad) and our guide in Tetoine were great, showed us the sites and the history. Great day, loved the trip. Thank you Tripadviser
When I booked this tour, I didn't realize it came with a guide in both Chefchaouen and Tetouan, but was pleasantly surprised otherwise. Pick up at hotel was a nice add on, too. The English tour guide in Chefchaouen, Nawfal, was great and funny and did a good job showing us around the city. Driver was pleasant and attentive to passenger requests.
The drive was comfortable and interesting as we got to see the beautiful countryside of North Morocco. Chefchaouen is a stunning mountain town with a fun medina and we had a great lunch. The tour around Tetouan revealed a large and amazingly nice and clean Moroccan town we had no idea even existed. Highly recommend this tour.
I think a lot of the experience depends on the person you get as your tour guide and driver. On tour with 6 people, our driver Omar was awesome and I really enjoyed the day with him 5/5. Our English guide in Chefchauen was very bad. I think his name was Youseff. It took two hours of him mostly on his cell phone and then giving a little speech and mostly saying “here is an instagram spot for photos.” Not much in terms of learning about the town history or culture. Others on the tour who had different guides said they had an excellent experience with there guide. Tetouan guide Said (likely improper spelling) was awesome and really enjoyed learning about the different neighborhoods. This is a long day so be prepared!!
Our driver Nizar was incredible as was our guide in Chefchaouen, Norman. We had so much fun despite the torrential rain. The food was fantastic, the scenery amazing and the people were very kind. I would highly recommend this tour. Booking was a breeze, they contacted us to confirm pickup location. The 'van' was comfortable and spacious. It was Ramadan so we tried to be respectful regarding food and drink. Our time in Tetouan was slightly rushed however, we were so waterlogged from the day I think our guide took the cue and let us get on our way. As the markets were closing the experience wasn't as full as I suspect it normally is. I would recommend checking for expected closures. Take good walking shoes and an adventurous spirit. It is worth it.
This was INCREDIBLE! Chefchauen is exactly as it was pictured! The guide(s) were excellent! Youssef was honestly the best driver I’ve had since coming. The guide, although I could not catch his name was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. Both guide and Youssef were from Chefchauen. It was the perfect trip for those must have pics! Bring cash (local) and if you don’t know how to haggle, LEARN! Seriously a must do if you’re coming to N Morocco!
Excellent trip and fun guides! From the driver till the shops owners the fun is assured. Definitely recommend it......
Great day trip out of Tangier. Nouma our guide in Chefchaoeun was great and Said as well in Tetouan. I had a great day.
Very beautiful city in the mountains and great historical guide. Nice views from the drive to the mountains as well. Great trip!
This tour was awesome only that the driver didn’t speak much English but the rest was fantastic both guides we met in both cities knew their history and were very nice and hospitable!! I stopped to buy a few items and he patiently waited. A definite recommendation to take this tour !!
Amazing experience! Everything was very well organised, with the tour operator staying connected to you on WhatsApp. After we were picked up, we had a 2.5h drive with a break for breakfast. Then, the guide in Chefchaouen have expertly guided us through the town, showing us many amazing things and views, giving us some taste of the local cuisine. The tour was about 2h after which we were given 2h of free time for lunch, etc. The guide suggested us an excellent restaurant with an amazing view of the kasbah. Next, we headed to Tetouan (1.5h drive), where the group was split (those who booked Chefchaouen only tour went back to Tangier). Tetouan was a very interesting town, much more modern and different style, it was great to see it during the evening. The tour took about 2h, after which we were driven back to Tangier (1h drive). All in all, an amazing experience with the whole day full of very interesting sights, well organised and with exceptional guides. Do remember that the tour is quite long (09:15-20:30) and includes a lot of walking, so be prepared.
The whole experience was spectacular. Yousef the driver, Yasin the tour guide and everyone else were amazing. So glad we booked the tour using this site. Thank you Morocco!!!
We had a lovely day out with Xauen Tour joining their Chefchaouen snd Tetouan Tour. All our guides were super friendly and we felt well looked after! Also gave us plenty of tips for things to look for and realistic cost if we wanted to buy something at the markets.
It was our first tour in Morocco and we loved it. The tour was meticulously organised from pick up to drop off. The tour operator informed the exact time of pick up the previous night. The car was good with WiFi and they gave a small bottle of water also. After the guided tour you get around 2hours for yourself for lunch and explore around. The local guide Karim was excellent, kind and with sense of humour. We took hundreds of photos 🙂 On the way back we stopped by Tetouan for a guided walking tour in the old medina. Personally I didn’t like this part of the tour as lot of walking for our kids and no free time for food or snacks during dinner time although there are so many food options around. Another point we didn’t like is the local guide at Tetouan. He was speaking mainly Spanish and very poor in French. He was walking in hurry! But overall it was a great day with good experience. It ended around 8pm.
It is an excursion that nobody should skip. The program is wonderful, can give an overview about Chefchaouen and Tetouan. The lake view at the first stop is really amazing. Omar the driver was very polite, full of positivity and great spirit. Pick up and drop off at the hotel in Tanger is a big plus. This activity is definitely recommended.
A really good experience from the punctual pick up in a nice air conditioned minibus with good wifi to the moment we stepped back off the bus on our return. A long day, but a fascinating one! Omar our driver, polite, friendly and professional, carried us smoothy between venues. In Chefchauen our small group of about 10 was split into two groups and our English speaking group was expertly led around the city by Naoufal. His commentary was comprehensive and the sights in the medina and the waterfall outside were stunning. Our free time was largely taken up by lunch (good food but service slow because restaurant was busy). After around 4 hours in Chefchaouen, it was back on the bus where we were delivered to the equally knowledgeable Abdul for a tour of the Medina in Tetouan. For me, this was probably the most interesting bit of the whole day, delving into the souk which seems to have barely changed in 500 years and to see the Berber, Spanish, Andalucian and Muslim influences sitting allongside each other! A very full and fascinating day - almost too much in fact as each of the tours could have made a day trip in itself.
This door was amazing from beginning to the end! Besides the two beautiful cities we visited I have to mention the great professional service and the tour guidance were spectacular involved places. And last but not leaves our driver was so professional and caring with everyone in the bus. I will definitely do this 1 million times again.!
The van to transport us was clean and in great condition. The driver was great. The 2 guides we had for each community were friendly and informative. The sites are beautiful. The walking is manageable, but still bring good walking shoes.
One of the best trips in Morocco. It's very cultural and informative about Morocco hiritage. The sights are amazing and the tour guide (Faisal) was perfect and very knowledgeable and taking care of everyone. I recommend this trip but get ready for walking.
I went with a small group of 13 people to Chefchaoun and Tetouan for 11 hours . Driver Yousef is the best he was very helpful , funny , took care of every passenger and on time . Tour guides were available in both cities with a lot of walk . I would give them 5/5
Incredible guide. Nizar was a great driver, friendly and very funny. Hope one day to come back and use his services again!
It was an excellent visit, with great organization. Punctuality and special care in supporting all of us during visits. Karim's work and his particular attention deserve a special word of thanks
This was the best tour experience I’ve had on the entire trip! They picked me up from my hotel, the driver, Yosef, knew Arabic, Spanish, English, and French. Our drive was entertaining and had breaks along the way. Once we got to Chefchaouen, our guide was amazing. He lead the tour in both Spanish and English and lead us throughout the city explaining the back story. I was traveling on my own, and met so many amazing people in our group and had a great time exploring Morocco with them!
Great tour to experience both cities. Youssef the driver kept us entertained and the tour guides were great! highly recommend!
Very good company. They were on time, very friendly driver, well air conditioned car with WiFi, and small gift at the end of trip. I can recommend
We had an incredible day! The company van was comfortable with a safe driver. Had a stop on the way at a coffee shop with a nice view. Chefchaouen was amazing. We split into two tour groups, one for English speakers and one for French speakers, so the groups felt intimate and the guide was able to tailor the experience to our interests. Had a great time wandering through the old city and learning about the history and traditions from our guide— while of course, stopping for lots of pictures (the guide was also an excellent photographer !). Lunch was on our own, but everyone in the English group opted for a spot the guide recommended. The stop in Tetouan fell a bit flat at the end of the day, as many of us were tired from a day in the sun, and the tour guide was not quite as engaging. We also had four different languages in the group. However, Tetouan is a beautiful city with an interesting blend of cultures, so I am glad we stopped. Overall, a great value for the quality of the experience!
Guide Omar and driver Omar were the best. Guide Omar spoke understandably and informative. He made our tour very interesting with explaining the history of Morocco especially Chefchaoun and Tanger. He was also our personal photographer and did everything very professional. He was so welcoming and helpful. It was funny and entertaining too while listening to music when driving. Guide Omar could answer any question we’ve asked and that shows how informed he is. You can see that they are making their jobs with passion and this is why I would book this tour with the same guide again!
Booked this trip at 11:30pm the night before. Responsive team, messaged me ASAP with confirmation and pickup details. Ontime, friendly, and comfortable air-conditioned ride from Tangier. Nouaman, our English-speaking guide in Chefchaouen, was amazing, going above and beyond to find an item someone from our group requested. He was friendly and amusing; explained things well; and was very patient, even offering to take photos....Slightly disappointed there was no tour in Tetouan as advertised, only a stop to disembark passengers, but since I was the last passenger picked up that morning, perhaps that part of the tour happened before I boarded....Either way, excellent tour!
Fantastic experience. Very well organised and a lovely day out. Knowledgeable tour guides, beautiful cities and convenient transport. Good communication from the organisers as well.
Super great time! Khalid was an amazing driver and entertainer :) the local guides Norman in Chefchauen and Mohammed in Tetouan were very hospitable and helpful. Many nice surprises along the way, panoramic views and great photo opportunities :)
A wonderful day trip that was full of great scenery on the trip up and wonderful guided tours of Chefchaouen and Tetouan. Transport was excellent condition and very comfortable. Guides were all locals and provided excellent insights. Highly recommend.
Xuaen Tours is a very great and affordable company to use in Tangier! The driver during the trip was very kind! Both tour guides I had in Chefchaouen and Tetuán were very knowledgeable and friendly. Both tours were very wonderful and we got to explore many different areas within each city!
Interesting tour..lots of history. The guides at both Chefchaoen and Tetouan were very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. The driver was waiting for us at the port and the vehicle was very comfortable, air-conditioned and clean. The driver offered the free wi fi and was pleasant. We got back to the ship on time. We enjoyed the tour and lunch at a Moroccan restaurant but could have dropped the visits to oil and rug shops. It would have been nice to be able to spend more time wandering markets.
All of the this tour was interesting and beautiful the guides were helpful and took care of our group
