Exploring Tangier: Highlights And Hidden Gems

We had a wonderful experience. We learned a lot about the culture and the area and had great mini experiences along the way - a wonderful tea and cake shop, the northernmost point in Africa, the Hercules Cave, and a wonderful authentic Moroccan dinner. We had time for some shopping and every place we went the people were warm and friendly. Would totally do it again!

Our guide was perfect. He speaks Arabic, French, English and Spanish - maybe more. He is very knowledgeable about many topics and he answered all our questions. He met us at the right time. We had a car ride to go see see some far away sights and finished with the Kabash. We had tea and sweets, orange juice and a late lunch on a roof top with a view. We found him to be a very respectful person with a good heart. What a wonderful day we had in Tangier! Thank you.

Amazing day spent exploring Tangiers with Abdelmoghit and a delightful, safe driver named Muhammad. We were a group of 4 friends in Tangiers for 1 day with a cruise ship. This was the BEST part of my family's 10 day cruise. Everyone got something from this Tangier outing! Abdelmoghit, (Former history teacher) was extremely knowledgeable about the area. While I was mainly taking in the scenery, my sister was all about the history. My elderly mother (who used a cane) had a fantastic day because Abdel adjusted the tour to accommodate all of us. While we did shorten the time on some of the stops (due to walking) mentioned in this tour, Abdel made it up to us by taking us to the Cafe Le Mirage for a snack and take in the scenery. My mother felt so special and still talks about this day with Abdel. When my sister and I shopped in the "Authentic part" of the medina my mother was not left alone and had great conversation with Abdel and his friends. GREAT DAY and A FANTASTIC TOUR!!!!!

The full day private tour with Abdel was equally enjoyable snd informative. He catered the 8 hours to our liking and pace incorporating meal time and shopping for quality ceramics and a rug. Great experience and a true introduction to Morocco

Since this was our first trip to Morocco we wanted a private tour so we booked with Abdelmoghit and it was money well spent as we were able to see so much of Tangiers in such a short amount of time but it didn't feel rushed either. We learned so much as Abdelmoghit was knowledgeable in the history of Tangiers/Morroco, as well as current events. The day before our scheduled tour, he contacted me via ToursbyLocals and WhatsApp to let me know where to meet him. He and his driver arrived on time and we spent the next 6.5 hours hitting all the highlights of Morocco. He also took us to this amazing restaurant for lunch where we had lamb and chicken tagine. We walked through the Medina where we stopped by a few stores because I told him I wanted to buy babouches (shoes). And while he said he knew the store owners, he mentioned a few times that there was no pressure to buy and if we didn't like the items then we can leave with no hard feelings.

We did a private tour of 4 and it was outstanding experience. We got a real feel for different parts of the city, the bazaar, and other landmarks. The pace was ideal, the information clear, and any question asked was answered (which hasn’t always been my past experience with tour guides from other companies). Our guide and driver was flexible when we wanted to detour.

We were 6 people traveling including two children so we didn't want to tour as part of a larger group because the kids run on their own schedule! We had a great day with Abdelmohit. We arrived at 9 and started with a driving tour, a walk through a park and some delicious sweet treats and Moroccan tea in a cafe. The driving then continued to the cape and caves and then brought us back to the Kasba where we had a walk through the lanes and lunch. The day wrapped up with a trip through the market lanes and back to the boat. The pace of the tour worked very well for us. My Wife and I just completed the Full Day Private Tour of Tangier with Abdul. The whole tour was simply exceptional. Good communication is the key

Our tour with Abdel was for our 51st anniversary and we ferried over to Tangier for just a day trip. Abdel provided a condensed tour with local flair. We drove through the high end real estate section where kings, sultans and the wealthy maintain residences … a beautiful drive. We stopped for a snack and we enjoyed the Abdel recommended traditional treat. We visited a lighthouse at JETOILE CAP SPARTELOI and the Hercules Cave; Kazbah and Medina (Old Town) then another Abdel recommended meal served from a beautiful scenic view eatery. Abdel is very knowledgeable about the history of everything we saw. Highly recommend this tour with Abdel. You’re lost without him.

We were so fortunate to be introduced to Tours By Locals by some friends as we embarked on our trip to España! It allowed us to engage the services of Abdel for an entire day trip to Morocco - and it was SO worth it! If you are planning a visit to Tangier you should Definitely sign up with Abdel! Born and raised in Tangier and the Kasbah, he knows everything! In particular he knows the Kasbah and medina like the back of his hand! But that is just part of the fun. We toured the King's neighborhood, then drove to some scenic outlooks and finally to Cap Spartel - the northernmost point in Africa and the official end of the Mediterranean. We then went below to the Cave of Hercules (beautiful view). A big part of a Locals tour is that you get to meet others, explore cultures and feel the common humanity. While at the Caves, Abdel was talking with another guide who was escorting a lovely couple. The gentleman discovered we were from the U.S., and that he was from Nigeria! It turns out he is the new Ambassador to Morocco from Nigeria. ☺️ We then drove to a beautiful beach with the bluest of waters in many shades. Awesome. In the afternoon we went through the gate at the top of the Kasbah which allowed us to flow downhill through the medina on narrow paths with homes with beautiful doors. Having a trusted guide is so helpful when going into the bazaar! Abdel knew the shops that have authentic Moroccan goods unlike the mainstream tourist shops. We were looking for some leather goods and Abdel introduced to a wonderful gentleman and his son who actually make beautiful pieces. I went looking for a nice belt, which I got, along with a gorgeous leather jacket that feels like butter, fits perfectly and looks so stylish! Thank you 😊 At the end of the day the driver took us to the ferry and we said our goodbyes to Abdel with one last photo together. Abdel's guided tour showed us many of the wonders of Tangier, but what made the day so special were the conversations - in the car, over tea and in the kasbah and Medina - that proved that even though you may be from different cultures, if you have an open mind and a caring heart you will find true humanity wherever you are. Tangier a city to discover and Abdelmoghit is the best guide to make this happen. We arrived early on the ferry from Tarifa and Abdel was there to greet us, helped confirm our return tickets and time. We had already let him know our high level interests. Our small group (4) toured all day with Abdel. We were chauffeured around in a very comfortable van visiting sites around Tangier. He was very informative, professional and very pleasant to be around, answered all our questions. On foot we saw parts of the Kasbah/Medina that only small groups can visit with a city native. Abdel helped us with some of our purchases, arranged for a tasting of moroccan tea and pastries. Near the end of our tour arranged for a tasty typical moroccan meal even though it was Ramadan. We enjoyed every moment of our day thanks to our guide. We highly recommend him.

Mohamed was an incredible guide, he picked me up at the hotel and since I was the only party in the tour that day, he personalized it to exactly what I wanted. He is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in the local Tangier history and culture, both the tangible and intangible. As beautiful and scenic as the city is, Mohammed helped me see it through another lens and for that I will always carry the tour in my fondest memories. Absolutely a must recommend. The sights around the city are rich and beautiful, and plenty to do around in the Medina, with various quarters and food places.

We had the most wonderful tour! Everything was smooth from the meeting at the ferry terminal to drop off at the end of the tour. Abdel and his driver gave us a wonderful tour of Tangiers, covering all of the sites he mentions in his tour description. After years of travel and accumulation of things, we’re in ‘less is more’ mode now, and Abdel helped us navigate the souks in an enjoyable way that disbarred any pressure to buy. But what made this tour especially memorable is how, through quiet conversations as we drove from place to place, he conveyed so much about how we are all united in our economic challenges, just governance, and the desire to lead a good life. This was a We Are People Of The World moment at its finest. And of course, it helped that Abdel was a child of the American rock and roll Tangiers scene of the 60s!
