Reviews
Our family of 8 enjoyed the bread and tea program at Blue Door Cuisine at the Hasan1 location. There is no better way for people and cultures from around the world to share, get to know each other and learn about each other than to share tea and bake bread. It was a delightful experience. The three women were welcoming, friendly and outgoing. They shared more than the variety of tea preparation and making bread. They shared cultural meanings as well as their personal stories. We came away with a feeling of caring on the inside and a glow of warmth all over.
We were delighted by the openness, friendliness, and attentiveness with which Samia, Asmae, Nadia, and Said guided us and treated us. We would book another cooking class with them anytime. IWe will remain it as an unforgettable experience!
The hospitality and friendliness of the staff was wonderful. We made traditional bread, and they also showed us how make traditional tea with mint and spices. They shared their daily lives and traditions with us. The food served to accompany the bread was diverse and delicious.
We had an amazing experience last week at Blue Door! Fatima, lina, Nouhaila and the girls were all super great and they were really the added value to the experience. Cooking Moroccan dishes in an amazing environment and atmosphere made it all so special. We enjoyed making the bread and then sipping tea and chatting, then cooking and entertaining ourselves in very nice conversations with the staff while waiting for the tajines to cook. I guess we were pretty good cause the food was delicious! We dearly recommend the experience, they are really the best!!
Booked whilst on a cruise, was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we entered the building we made extremely welcome, tea was served and the class was explained. The instructions were very clear and assistance was available at all times. We completed cooking a proper chicken tangine accompanied by traditional bread. Of course we then sat to eat. Very pleasant way to spend a few hours
We had so much fun and GREAT food! The recipes were very easy to follow. The staff was so fun to interact with! I would highly recommend this tour!
The Blu Door cooking experience was much more than a cooking class. the food was authentic, local, and really tasty. It was a great experience to cook with a tagine and the local Gues3a mixing and serving bowls. While the food was excellent, what set the apart was the time with the staff, Nouhaila Naila Doha and Nadia, while the meal cooked. First we experienced a Moroccan Tea typically served to guests. The staff provided a great background to the significance of the tea in Moroccan culture and the significance of each ingredient. The staff was also very open to discussions about their lifestyle, work, and home life that really made us feel like we gained an understanding of the culture in an honest, in person way. Overall the best experience we had during a 12 day cruise with 7 different port stops.
Not only the tea making an bread making was good. The talking with the ladies en kearning mores about their way of living was so interesting !
This is a unique cooking experience! It is always so nice to be invited into someone’s home. Our lovely instructors were so engaging & welcoming;sharing things about their culture as well as asking about ours. Food was fantastic! I highly recommend this cooking experience.
What an amazing time! I came with a group from our Semester-at-Sea voyage (on land in Morocco for several days). Our group consensus was:The MOST FUN field program we’ve had! Tangier itself was truly beautiful, and this experience was such a highlight! The women who gave us the cooking lessons and shared cultural understanding with us were fantastic— warm, funny, friendly, open and welcoming ! Do not miss this opportunity if you’re anywhere near Blue Door Cuisine.
Nouhaila, Fadoua, Lina, and Rihab were our precious hostesses. The food they helped us prepare was amazing as well as the personal time spent with them. It was definitely a highlight of our cruise.
It was a perfect experience, the Ladies teatched us very well, it was so funny and the food was delicious. I will recommand the Cooking Experience and if I have the chance I will do it again :), Greetings to our cooking Ladies from Austria Annemarie
Our experience at the Blue Door was truly top notch. The food we learned to prepare was fantastic and the techniques easy enough that I’m sure we will use them when we return home. Even more than the food, though, positive energy, openness and smiles of our hosts Luna, Houda, Nada and Fatima made the experience wonderfully memorable!
From the moment we were greeted to our parting, we were treated with warmth and respect. Our market tour, culminating with a visit to the community oven, was really helpful to understand the structure of daily life in Tangier. The cooking experience was so much more than just the kitchen. We were indulged with a formal tea service and learnt of some Moroccan customs and culture. Once our tagines were ready, we sat down to lunch as a typical family would do, and again had the opportunity to learn more about Moroccan culture from our thoroughly charming hosts. The food was delicious, but the experience was about so much more. We made lamb tagine with prunes and will definitely be trying to replicate this at home. Thanks to our three delightful hosts who were so informative and generous in sharing with us.
We had a lovely cooking demonstration with the Blue Door Kitchen as part of an excursion from Seabourn cruises. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. The hosts were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout and the tagine and bread we made was delicious. A really fun, hands-on experience!
This was a lovely way to start our Moroccan trip! Nouheila, Fatima, and Houda were all very sweet and kind. We had a rather quick tour of the market and the communal oven before our cooking class, which involved making chicken tagine and Moroccan bread. We were shown how to make Moroccan mint tea and enjoyed a lovely chat with the ladies while sipping it. They had also prepared some side dishes for us to have with the tagines. The house was also very nice. We learnt a lot about Morocco, its culture and of course cuisine.
I really enjoyed making Moroccan bread and tea with Blue Door Cuisine. I learnt a lot about Moroccan cuisine and culture, while enjoying myself! A delight!
the tour of the markets and area with our guild, Mohammed Coca Cola, was fantastic and the Blue Door cooking class and lunch was the highlight of our vacation. We highly recommend it.
I wanted to write this review right away… Today is December 3, 2024 and we completed our cooking experience with Blue Door Cuisine about 2 hours ago. It was the best! We are sailing with Seabourn and this was an excursion offered by the ship. My husband and I along with 8 others from the ship participated in this fabulous experience. Our guide, Mustafa (sp?) greeted us warmly as we entered the van and began a short drive to the Kasbah after which we debarked and continued by foot. So much to see and take in and Mustafa passionately shared information about his beloved Morocco. Upon reaching Blue Door Cuisine we were greeted and welcomed and led into a very relaxing room where we sat, relaxed and partook of cold bottled water and hand washing. When everyone had an opportunity to relax the wonderful women guiding the class led us into the kitchen and proceeded to walk us through the process of preparing our own lunch - and what fun that was!!! While the food cooked, we were again led back into the lounge and were treated to some traditional tea and the process of brewing the tea was demonstrated and explained. And, my goodness, it was delicious! After talking, relaxing and drinking tea we returned to the kitchen to put the finishing touches on our meal. We adjourned to the dining room to feast upon what we had prepared ( together with a few extras that were prepared for us). As we began to eat, the dining room was at once very quiet except for the many oohs and ahhs! What a great meal and a wonderful time! This is a must do. The facility was clean, attractive and so comfortable.. The ladies who aided us in the meal preparation were so warm and friendly and their English was impeccable. Really loved this experience and highly recommend Blue Door Cuisine.
The young ladies that gave us the tea and bread experience were very kind and hospitable. We had a pleasant two hours spent with them chatting about our homes and families while enjoying, wonderfully made homemade bread, jams and pastries. Their instruction and conversation and patients were invaluable for me and my husband who has dementia.
This was fantastic. There is no other way to say it. I cannot believe more people don't know about this hidden gem inside the owner's house on the top of a multi-unit flat in the old part of Tangier. It surpassed the expectations we had after reading the reviews here and doing a bit deeper research. Since it was a cooking class, we helped make the bread, which was later baked in a nearby wood-fired community oven. And we fully prepared the chicken tagine, which will go down as one of those d "travel" dishes you never forget. This was truly a highlight of this trip. Thanks to Tim and the team.
The Moroccan tea and bread excursion was an authentic learning experience. Our hosts were kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable.
We had such a wonderful time on our walking tour of the old city! Then we learned how to make Moroccan bread, tea and chicken. The young ladies that taught our class were amazing. This tour exceeded all of our expectations! What an incredible experience! Would definitely recommend to family and friends!
We had so much fun and learned how to make the most amazing couscous dish. It was delicious and I can’t wait to make it at home! Such amazing hospitality from all the staff.
The entire staff was fantastic. Walking the Medina with a tour guide was a great way to see the sources for our food. I particularly liked seeing the community oven where our bread was going to bake. The tea service and cooking lesson's were so personal and memorable. We will be recommending this to friend's who visit!
We had a fabulous time! I highly recommend. Their team is so talented and truly cares. Great cultural immersion experience.
This is a must do experience in Tangier. The Blue Door is an amazing cultural experience. It is a peak into a Moroccan home. What a pleasure interracting with our engaging women hosts and cooking teachers! Their sentiment that "generous hospitality can change the world" was front and center. Additionally, the food we prepared was delicious but easy enough to duplicate at home. This was a highlight of our vacation.
I visited my daughter in Tangier and she set up this experience for me. It was absolutely wonderful! Lena met us at the Medina and gave us a tour of the soukbarah (local market), showed us the community oven and walked us over to Blue Door. Lena introduced us to Naila and Fatima (we cooked her Grandmother’s recipes). The customer service was over the top. We learned how to make khobz (Moroccan bread), Moroccan mint tea and a traditional chicken Tajine. The ingredients and spices were local and tasted so good. Then we sat down and ate lunch together. The ladies were interested in us and we were able to ask them about their culture. You definitely need to try this experience when you visit.
First time experiencing anything Moroccan. It was interesting seeing the Medina and the souks. At the Blue Door, we were traditionally greeted before proceeding upstairs to the kitchen and restaurant. We enjoyed all of the traditions and ceremony of the tea service followed by the meal preparation for a delicious chicken tagine lunch. Our hosts were a team of lovely young women who are very familiar with traditional Moroccan cooking and culture.
