This tour was amazing, not only did we taste delicious food I would have never heard of we also saw the important sights of Tangier. We had amazing shopping experiences as well as we learned about traditionally made Moroccan carpets and body oils. This tour was a perfect mix of everything and it took us from 8am to 1:30pm. It was super comprehensive and the tour guide was amazing and spoke English perfectly. Anas was our tour guide and I would highly recommend him. He guided my husband and I as well as our two daughters and everyone was very satisfied from the entire experience!

Fantastic experience! Our guide, Anas, was very friendly and professional. I lost count of the food stops, but they were delightful. They ran the gamut from an upscale restaurant with a fantastic view to a tiny hole in the wall where laborers get ready for the workday. We finished the tour with bags from two different places because we were to stuffed to try them. I will tour with Anas the next time I am in Morocco! Ask him about his other tours.
Absolutely outstanding tour. Anas was a very helpful and knowledgeable guide who answered all our questions and took us to some great spots. We tried all manner of tasty foods from mint tea to a huge seafood lunch. Tour was worth every penny we paid.
Instead of cancelling our tour, the tour guide told us he was asked to cover for the regular guide since he was busy the day of our tour. Instead of being met at the cruise port we were asked to walk 25 minutes into a very confusing market area where, once we finally found our guide, we were taken around to four spots where we had a cup of bean soup at our first stop, an espresso at our second stop, our third stop was a chicken and couscous dish and our fourth stop we got a date with a walnut in it. We got no discussion or explanation on anything we were eating nor any cultural discussions. Most of the time we spent staring at the back of our 25 year old “tour guides” head. Then we were left in the middle of the market and told the tour is over your ship is that way as he pointed and walked away. Hands down, worst tour ever.
One of the best walking food tours we’ve ever done in the world!! Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, and took us to some really interesting places. He was also attentive to one of our party who had to be gluten-free, and she had options at each stop.
Our tour guide Anas was fabulous! Very knowledgeable about his city and country. He led us through the various parts of medina where we enjoyed amazing foods along the route. Sweet and savoury chicken&tuna, unbelievable sweets, mint teas and on and on.
It’s in an out of the way location actually an alley so we weren’t sure however once we got in a lovely culinary experience unfolded. Our chef was a fount of information about the history of tapas and paella. She carefully guided us through making paella from preparing the seafood to waiting for the dish to be just right before it was ready. Oh and let’s not forget the sangria making history and process. What an incredible way to learn about the culinary culture of a country.
The good was diverse and learned a lot about the culture. Our guide showed us everything in the old city.
We highly recommend this experience. It's very immersive, with a lot of variety of food in many different venues.. You will eat well...like a local. Our guide had hired cabs to take us to and from the city center and we walked to the various shops and restaurants from a plaza overlooking the cruise ships. We walked quite a lot, but had plenty of opportunities to rest and our guide knew where all of the clean restroom facilities were located. We felt safe. One of our travel mates is gluten intolerant and special accommodations were made for her. Everything was included in the price, including tipping. We did stop at a Moroccan oils shop and a rug shop, but were not pressured to purchase anything. One piece of advice is Do Not Eat Anything before starting the excursion because you are offered a lot of food. This is not an appropriate excursion for disabled people as there are uneven surfaces, cobblestone walkways and a hilly terraine. The excursion was supposed to last 3 1/2 - 4 hours, but it lasted for 6 hours as we were offered shopping opportunities. We would definitely do this one again and highly recommend Annis.
Good variety of food and drinks. Tour guide was knowledgeable and showed us unique places, too, like a spice shop and rug shop.
Anas was an excellent guide as we strolled thru the streets and markets of Tanjier. We enjoyed all types of Moroccan food and drink, with historical facts along the way. It was a pleasure to meet Anas and experience the Moroccan culture thru his eyes.
Ahmed met us at our riad and took us on an excellent tour of Tangier's medina. He was friendly and really knowledgeable about the city, its history and its culture. We unknowingly booked for a holy day but he reorganised the tour to make sure we still got the most out of it despite some places being closed. Would recommend to anyone looking for an introduction to Tangier!
What a memorable experience! Anas, for me, is the perfect tour guide: keeps you moving, lots of different experiences, perfect amount of historical context and a wonderfully personable human being. Could not recommend highly enough.
Annes Zerrad of Tangier Explorer created a true local’s culinary and historical taste of Tangier that was an unforgettable experience. From the 100 year-old Cafe Porto Rico to wondrous samples of spices, soups, meats, snacks and on to a central baking oven of the Medina, Tangier Explorer is THE guide to the real Tangier. Walking the fish market and having fresh oysters was fantastic. From sitting among the Medina merchants having a proper Moroccan food experience to an art gallery with incredible treasures, one cannot achieve this caliber of immersion through guide books. Annes works to commune as a tour guide, easily adapting to the visitors’ interests without missing a beat. It was a FABULOUS way to capture off our stay in Tangier! Knowing what I now know, I would do it twice!
We opted for a personalized local tour, rahter than the cookie-cutter excursions that the cruiseline offered. Anas was our guide and he did not disappoint. We delved into the the everyday Moroccon culture and had a blast eating and drinking our way through the city. This was by far the best tour we took on our two week cruise.
Anas was a truly wonderful guide. He made us feel welcome and safe from the beginning of our tour. He was very knowledgable, had lots of interesting information for us about the city and the food culture and kept treating us to little bonus snacks that weren't advertised. We had the best time and would highly recommend booking a tour with him. The stops at the carpet maker and the cosmetics place weren't our favourite, but we never felt forced to buy anything.
Excellent food tour with Anas. He was really flexible and accommodating when I couldn’t get the train to Tangier in the morning and ran the tour again especially for me in the afternoon - this was above and beyond! We visited a number of food spots for local delicacies - the sardines were life changing! He was also really flexible when I said I wanted to visit a particular spot and incorporated it into our tour of the casbah. I came home thoroughly stuffed with my bag full of olives, figs and biscuits. Anas is a friendly guy, very relaxed and easy to talk to. Thank you for a great afternoon. Highly recommend!
Anas was an amazing tour guide. He taught us about the city, we stopped at local eateries and truly got a feel for Morocco and its history. It was a great experience!!
We had Anas as our tour guide and absolutely loved the tour. We normally don’t do organized tours but if you are visiting Tangier, do this one. Anas is very passionate about his city, he takes you to the hidden gems, we saw parts of the city we would never experienced if we went on our own. It’s a really small group, very informative and informal. Great conversations, good food , not touristy restaurants. Very lovely ! Thank you Anas for this unforgettable day!
