Excellent experience, Paul was very open and informative. Answered all my questions. If you like trying some new food, learning a little history and walking around with small amount of sightseeing this is a great tour for you
Great knowledge of Estonia. It was a very expensive history lesson for Estonia. The food was minimal and at his local knowledge was absolutely wonderful.
Met on time at the location which was easy to find. Paul is a very friendly & knowledgeable guide. Lovely walking tour of the old town and enjoyable food. One too many small sweet treats instead of savoury for our preference hence 3* for value.
Excellent tour. Svetlana was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun. I recommend the tour for anyone who wants to learn about Estonian culture. Be sure not to eat too much for breakfast.
This was a very informative tour. I learned about history of Estonia which relates to food. I tried several things that are unique and new to me. We made quite a few stops in Tallin Old Town and Telliskivi. I would recommend this tour to anyone willing to try new things.
The guide didn’t show up for this and the tourist office said he hadn’t shown up any tours that week. Despite these Viator still allowed us to book it on the morning. The no show meant we missed out on other tours we could have done. There was a poor and unapologetic response from Viator and no explanation as to why they were still selling this trip.
Excellent tour Very knowledgeable and experienced guide in Paul The food was varied and local and we thoroughly enjoyed it
A lot of walking very informative great food Explored a lot of city wonderful experience. Guide very knowledgeable
The tour guide never showed up. The guide did not show up at the agreed upon time and location for this tour. I attempted to message and call the guide multiple times with no answer. The guide never messaged me before or after the tour to convey an apology or a reason. DO NOT BOOK
Guide never showed up - spoke to information desk & they said it’s been happening for a month and a half. Still waiting on our refund. Terrible.
Guide never showed up and didn't call. We contacted Viator whose name was on the ticket and they tried to contact the tour guide but was unsuccessful. Viator said they would request a refund. Now Tripadvisor wants us to provide a review on a tour that never happened. Does Viator and Tripadvisor work together?
Guide was a no show, especially damaging because we were in Estonia for one day, specifically for this tour.
Guide never showed, now I see this has happened to others and I'm super upset I didn't research better before.
Tallinn 3-Hour Estonian Food Tour was fairly good. I got a chance to try different types of Estonian food and also visited some interesting places in the city. The guide was knowledgeable and tried to keep everyone in the group comfortable.
Guide no-showed 3 different time blocks, company didn’t answer phone or messages, didn’t offer a confirmed time they’d actually be there. Don’t waste your time or money.
Do Not Book This Tour! They take your money and then they never show up! 10 of us waited over 30 minutes and they would not respond to anybody. It is a total scam and we have not received a refund yet, stay far away!!!!!
No one showed up to give the tour. They didn’t not respond to messages before, during or after. They not only wasted 30 mins of our time waiting we then had nothing structured to do in the 7 hours we were there. Now we’re fighting with Viator for a refund, which should be automatic since they were a no show. Now I’m questioning using Viator since their answer was you’re past the 24 hr refund policy. There should be no question of a refund. They don’t protect their customers either. Steer clear of the whole process!
There was no experience! The operator was a no show. We arrived on time and the guide never showed up. After 30 minutes of waiting we gave up.
Our tour guide never showed up. Spoke to a Viator agent and they were not able to connect with the tour guide. We waited over 30 minutes. Viator will be investigating why they did not show. We are expecting to get refunded.
We were really looking forward to this. The guide never showed up and nobody bothered to contact us to cancel.
I’m trying to figure out how to give them zero stars, since they did not show up. I arrived at 11:25 for an 11:30 tour at the exact location specified and couldn’t locate them. I waited five minutes and then attempted to call them, but there was no answer… So I then called ViaTor and they attempted to reach the tour operator to no avail. I had worked my entire days itinerary around this tour which was now ruined. I’ve taken dozens of tours thru ViaTour and it’s the first time that no one showed up.
Nobody shows up. Not the guide not any other customers.
No show so we cancelled. Tried to connect via the app and no response. Waited 20 minutes, then canceled our booking.
We waited at the tourist information center meet location for our 11:30am tour but nobody showed up. We waited in the rain until ~11:40am then contacted the tour provider by phone. That’s when we learned the tour was not happening. When we told the person on the phone it would have been nice to get an email notifying us the tour was cancelled (we received no email) the response was a dismissive “yeah yeah”. I can only rate our experience with this provider which is limited to what I describe above. Good luck and meter your expectations on tour guide actually showing up OR getting courtesy email of cancellation should that occur.
The guide never showed up for the tour. There was no tour. Possible scam. Waited with another couple to no avail
The tour guide didn’t turn up and was not contactable. The Tourist Office said this had happened the day before and several times in the previous week. Poor response from Trip Advisor who knew about this issue but were still offering the trip and have offered no compensation for the disruption to our holiday. We missed out on other tours to do this one and were left with no other options on the day.
This was a very good introduction to Estonian food and culture. The tour lasted a full 3 hours, and we visited 6 different venues. The tastings and drinks were good and we learned a lot from our guide Paul during the stops. We did not leave hungry.
Our guide was excellent: warm, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Tallinn and Estonia. The tour connects food with local history, culture and parts of the city; that side of the experience was genuinely enjoyable. That said, as a food tour, I felt it could be better structured. Starting with chocolate was interesting, but I think the first stop would work better as something savoury. One of our group had made clear from the outset, she does not eat meat, yet at possibly the best food stop, her alternative to the excellent broth was "beer"; not really a substitute for food on a food tour. My main reservation is the price. We paid around €400 for four people, and although the guide was very good, the amount and balance of food did not feel proportionate to that cost. Personally, I would value the experience below €300 for four. So overall: a good host, interesting cultural insight and some enjoyable stops, but the food offering, dietary handling and pricing need a little refinement.
We've been to Tallinn a few times, but the food tour with Paul was by far our most interesting experience. It was far more than food. His insightful stories and history combined with delicious Estonian food, drink and dessert made for a perfect day. Highly recommend this tour.
This tour was extraordinary. It’s incredible how much history and food culture we learned in 3 hours. I’ve been on several food tours recently and this one stood out for how much cultural and food information was embedded in it. But we were eating and talking the whole time, so it never felt overly serious or lecture like. The food was tasty and there was a good mix for all types of eaters. The walking was mostly flat and spread out into multiple short walks. Highly recommend!
Paul was fantastic. He has so much knowledge about the history of Estonia, and how it ties into the food we tried. The tour was more than just Old Town Tallinn which I loved. We tried unique food and drinks, and the 3 hours flew by. Thank you Paul - we had a blast!
We had a fabulous time with Paul. He was very informative and kind. We tasted local food and drink. This is a must if you visit Tallin
Great way to explore Tallinn old town in a leisurely 3 hours gaining local historical knowledge whilst visiting local cafe, bar restaurant and chocolate manufacturers. You wont leave hungry or thirsty!
The guide was a no show. I read previous reviews that flagged this had happened to some people but took a chance as there were positive ones too. So disappointing to be let down. Local tourist office were very helpful and tried to call them but no luck. They said it happens all the time. Got a full refund but I would not recommend this food tour.
I booked this tour twice in the week I was in Tallinn because it looked like such a fun experience. Both times, the guide didn't show up and there was no response when trying to reach the company while we were waiting.
The tour guide never showed up. We waited 30 minutes then gave up and found a restaurant to go to. I got a full refund, but really disappointing not to have the experience.
Unfortunately, the tour guide did not show up at the meeting point, and there was no communication before, during, or after the scheduled start time. This was particularly difficult given the conditions—it was approximately 10 degrees outside—and we waited without any updates or guidance. I sent multiple messages attempting to reach the guide and, as of now, have still received no response. With very limited time in Tallinn, a mid-day tour is a significant commitment and disruption when it does not take place. Losing several hours in the middle of the day greatly impacted our itinerary and overall experience in the city. What is especially concerning is that after this occurred, I noticed a recent review from just days prior describing the same issue with this guide also failing to show up. This suggests a pattern rather than an isolated incident. While I understand that unexpected situations can arise, a complete lack of communication and follow-up is unacceptable—particularly in extreme weather and when travelers are relying on pre-booked experiences in a short visit. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve accountability and communication so future travelers do not experience the same disappointment.
Already reported these people. It's a scam. We (all of us) were waiting for their tour in cold but guide never showed up. Not even responded to any calls or messages.
Really horrible. Tour guide never showed up. We called and texted the company and no one ever responded to any of us. A wasted full day waiting for this tour... extremely disappointed!!!
It is very informative and a great way to learn about Tallin while enjoying some local food. Out guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
Excellent tour with Paul. Knowledgeable and friendly we had a fantastic time highly recommend well worth it. Great thing to do on first day plus got restaurant tips too
We enjoyed the 3hr tour which was just nice. Paul is super knowledgeable and explained clearly how history influence the culture and how culture influence food. It was very well-paced and we had time to drink and eat. There were also alcoholic drinks included. Good mix of food and drinks and also to bring us around the area. Recommend everyone to do it on the first day so that you know where to walk and where to have your meals for the best experience. Highly recommended!
Paul was a really good host, full of information about the food and about Tallinn and Estonia, and he was very personable too. We enjoyed several great food and drink tastings, and in some lovely interesting locations too. Would recommend.
My wife and I loved this food tour of Tallinn. It really gave a great overview of Tallinn's food and culture. And our guide was fantastic!
Paul was fantastic. He shared a lot about Estonian food, culture, and history. The tour was a great way to try different places and foods that I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. I suggest not eating beforehand, as there is quite a lot of food to try on the tour!
Paul gave us (only two on the tour) a great food experience. Showed us places we would have not walked to ourselves.
Really great food, city, and history tour of Tallinn. Paul is super knowledgeable and our entire group really enjoyed the experience.
Great information, food and sights. The history is fascinating - from award winning chocolates, to superb elk broth, to mushroom pies, to great coffee - and some warming drinks too. Paul was a great host and gave me such insights into the what and why and how of Estonian cuisines.
We had the best time on the food tour with Paul. We learned so much about the history of Tallinn/Estonia as a whole and it was really insightful. It was also great to try so many delicious foods - we were absolutely stuffed by the end! So glad we did it and would recommend to anyone.
