Itinerary
Leave Tallinn and head east towards Lahemaa National Park and Estonia’s scenic northern coast. Along the way, your guide introduces the landscapes, history and local life of the region.
Make a short stop at the Rebala Heritage Reserve to discover prehistoric stone-cist graves and ancient cup-marked stones. These archaeological remains offer a glimpse into human settlement in northern Estonia thousands of years ago before we continue towards Jägala Waterfall.
Visit Jägala Waterfall, Estonia’s widest natural waterfall. Walk to the limestone escarpment for views of the falls and river valley. Its appearance changes dramatically with the seasons, from powerful spring water to impressive ice formations in winter.
Take a walk through one of Lahemaa National Park’s most characteristic landscapes. A wooden boardwalk leads through forest and open peat bog, past bog pools to a viewing tower overlooking this distinctive northern landscape.
Continue through Lahemaa National Park, travelling between forests, wetlands, historic manor lands and the small communities of Estonia’s northern coast. Your guide introduces the park and the region as you travel towards the coastal villages.
Discover Käsmu, one of Estonia’s best-known historic captains’ villages. Drive through the picturesque seaside settlement, known for its maritime heritage, traditional wooden houses and beautiful setting on the Käsmu Peninsula.
Pass through Võsu, a small Baltic seaside resort that has been a popular summer destination for generations, with its long sandy beach, wooden houses and relaxed coastal atmosphere.
Enjoy a light lunch during the tour at a local restaurant or another carefully selected location in Lahemaa National Park. The exact venue may vary according to the season and the day's itinerary. Further followed by drive to a next location with duration ca 15~20 minutes
Explore Altja, a traditional fishing village on the Baltic Sea. Take a short walk through the village and along its picturesque coastline, with historic wooden buildings, fishing-net sheds and views across the Gulf of Finland.
When open, stop at the historic Altja Tavern, a traditional countryside inn in the heart of the village. There is time for a coffee or another drink before continuing through Lahemaa National Park.
Depending on the day’s itinerary, take a short nature walk along the Beaver Trail near Altja. The trail follows the forested Altja River valley, where beaver dams, felled trees and other signs of beaver activity can often be seen. This peaceful forest walk offers a final taste of Lahemaa’s nature before the journey back to Tallinn.
Alternatively, visit Vihula Manor, one of Lahemaa National Park’s beautifully restored historic manor estates. Explore the manor grounds and visit the historic Water Mill and its small museum, as well as the Vodka Museum, which tells the story of spirit and vodka production at the estate and in Estonia. Entrance to the museums is included when Vihula Manor is visited.

We really had a great day on this trip, the itinerary was perfect and we saw a good variety of the Estonian countryside, from waterfalls to country manors. We even managed to get into the bog for a swim. The lunch was really nice and in a lovely restaurant. Paul is a great guide, he’s very informative and entertaining, we learned a lot about Estonia from him, including some good Estonian music. He modified the tour to suit the group so we got to see a lot and we never felt rushed. We’d highly recommend this tour. Cormac and Alice
Paul is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Throughout the journey, he introduced Estonian history and sights, brought us to places with gorgeous views and beautiful scenery, and took us to an authentic and off-the-beaten-path restaurant with great food and drinks. It was a long and tiring day but well worth it as we have learnt a lot more about Lahemaa National Park and the country in general.
Very interesting tour with a great guide. I would recommend it if you want to see more of the countryside and learn about the history of Estonia.
A fantastic day from start to finish. Paul was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about the region and took us to places we would never have had the opportunity to see otherwise. A frozen waterfall, hiking on top of snow covered bogs, authentic Estonian cuisine and villages, this trip had it all. A must-do for anyone visiting Tallinn and wanting to see the beauty of Estonia. Thank you Paul!
We had an unforgettable full-day trip to Laheema National Park with Paul! Our journey began in Tallinn's Old Town and took us through breathtaking stops, including stunning waterfalls, a historic captain's village, and a charming fishing village. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch at a seaside family restaurant. Paul's deep knowledge and passion for the region, along with his excellent English, made the experience even more enriching. The countryside was beautiful, and we would highly recommend this tour over and over! The 7-seater minivan was in excellent condition, and Paul’s expertise truly shone throughout the day. Thank you, Paul! Nefeli & Panagiotis from Greece

We booked the Romantic North-Coast - a day trip to the land of bays trip, Paul was our guide and took great care of us. My husband and I we enjoyed every minute of this day trip. Paul had organized the schedule of the tour extremely well. He was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of information on all that we saw. On this day tour, we not only learned a lot about Talin and Estonia, we saw Jagala waterfall, but we also had an amazing hike through the winter Laheema National Park and excuisit meal by the cost of Vergi. The day was very enjoyable and left us with unforgettable memories. I highly recommend Paul and Food Sightseeing Estonian.
No one picked us up and the tour operator did not respond to contact from our group nor from Viator. This appears to be an issue from this company based on other recent reviews. Do not book this.
Nobody came at the meeting point. We were waiting with a family that have also booked the tour with this company, the only difference is that we did it through Viator. We hope to have our refund through Viator asap (it’s been 2 days and we still don’t have news from Viator, and of course, neither from the company) because this was definitely a scam. This company was deliberately posting and unposting the ad. That was a red flag. The day before we send them a message, nobody answered. Second red flag. Nobody picked up the phone. Nothing. Please don’t book anything with them.
I really appreciated Paul's tour. He is really professional and make you comfortable in touring with him. Highly recommend!
Paul is an amazing tour guide. If you have a thirst for knowledge of the area this tour will satisfy. Whether you find yourself in Tallinn for business or pleasure either the day trip or food tour is highly recommended to orient yourself to the culture. I learned so much during my tour which gave context to everything I saw and experienced afterward while in Tallinn. Paul also does corporate tours if you need to coordinate a custom tour that will create lasting bonds and understanding of this amazing region. Many thanks Paul!
This was a good trip but wasn't aware there was so much walking! The guide gave us a wealth of information. We were group of older women who could not physically do that much walking. Our guide did make some adjustments to help us with the accommodations.
Paul showed us a very beautiful side of Estonia. The landscape is impressive and diverse. The bog, the forest, the waterfall, the sea, the beautiful houses. It was a great experience and we had a lot of fun. We definitely have to come to Estonia again. Paul made an unforgettable day possible. Thank you very much.
Our tour was to Lahemaa National Park in a van with 4 other participants. We booked through Get Your Guide so I'm not sure why this company was chosen as our provider since there was really not food involved, except a lunch with had no options and not impressive. The scenery is fantastic but our guide was not. He made no effort at all in helping people get comfortable with each other, did not speak loud enough that we could hear his narration in the van, did not welcome questions, and put in time filler at a manor but without enough time to even read the placards and arrive back inn Tallinn almost half an hour early. He guided us well through the park. We appreciated that a lot.
What a fabulous day! The National Park and Jagala waterfall were so beautiful. Paul was a wonderful guide that shared knowledge as well as local foods on our picnic. Definitely recommend!!
We went in mid winter. Lots of snow. The waterfall was mostly frozen and very spectacular The Peat bog was covered with snow but still a beautiful walk. Ice in the sea and snow right down to the water. The food in a local pub and then in a manor house was excellent and a real taste of Estonia. The guide was very friendly and full of information.
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to show us as much as possible despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions. This tour was excellent value for money as we were able to see many sites within a relatively short period of time. The experience was beyond our expectations and I couldn’t recommend booking this more.
Since Saturday I warn about the dishonesty of this organizer. He planted us as recently as Saturday, August 17 and remains unreachable. The Tallinn tourist office turns a blind eye to its practices. I asked Get your Guide to remove the tour from their catalog. Especially don't book. I'm not the first. This man owes me money and I will leave my comments about him all over the web.:(
Nobody at the rendezvous! The tourist office informed us that this company no longer gave any sign of life, no longer answered the phone, and that every day people found themselves, like us, victims of the failure of this operator. To be absolutely avoided!
Kein Stern!
