This is a wonderful hotel. They had a great buffet dinner that had a large variety of foods. The onsen was very nice and clean. Enjoyed both tje inside and outside baths. Also soaked in the carbonated bath which was a new thing for me.

The good was the food and location. The bad is rooms dated, with dirty stained carpets and poor cleaning. Similar views from other guests in our group.
We arrived today. I was shocked to find that the location of the hotel seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. It’s a vast, sprawling building and our room was a long way from reception. The surroundings of the hotel are ugly and there are no nearby restaurants. I asked about the hotel restaurants and was told that tonight they were all buffet style with a set price. Suggested that we might try a restaurant near the railway station, 20 minutes walk away. Restaurants near a railway station are not usually high end. Surely a quality hotel should be located in a central position surrounded by amenities appreciated by tourists. Sorry, I cannot recommend the Green Hotel.
I got the tatami room, which was spacious and very functional. Amenities were provided and refreshed daily. The onsen is really the biggest attraction. Its big, has an outdoor area, and one of the most comfortable and best ones I've ever been to. Really impressed. Kudos to the staff too. The front desk patiently explained the facilities and everything in great detail, and were quick to give great recommendations of the area and also best timings. Even has a shuttle bus to takayama bus station and also a huge souvenir shop which is fairly priced and even has aa discount for people staying in the hotel! This is a really great place and highly recommended.
It’s my second time staying in this hotel, this time I stayed three nights in a Japanese room with bath in the main building and I got breakfast and dinner. The room is a little old but still cozy, and I love the private bath. The big onsen is perfect and so relaxing. It would be nice if the breakfast buffet could change a little every day. The Kaiseki dinner on the first night was a bit disappointing because there they served too much soup and vegetables, but the following two nights were amazing and the quantity of food was overflowing. I wonder if they gave the worst meal first and saved the best two for last? Nevertheless, this is the best hotel for me in Takayama, I only want to stay here ❤️❤️❤️
