Had a great food tour with Mike. He did a great job, We ate a variety of food and he explained each dish to us. Told us all about the night market and the stalls we went to. It was a great tour and I would highly recommend it.

Had a wonderful time with Mike at the market. Tried lots of food and was happy with the selection. Definitely would recommend!
We did both the Night Market Tour (with Tina) and the Iconic Food Tour (with Jean). Both were excellent experiences and Tina and Jean are expert guides that have a lot of knowledge and put you at complete ease in otherwise unfamiliar surroundings. The Yasan Night Market isn’t the typical setup but that actually made for a more authentic experience as it’s not overwhelmed with other tourists. Highlights were the sticky-rice sausage, sweet potato puffs and the oyster omelet. In addition to the dishes we tried (which were plentiful), Tina had some great recommendations. The Iconic Tour was just as good, if not better. There was no overlap with the Night Market Tour so made complete sense to do both. It was also in the daylight so you could appreciate some of your surroundings as well as the delicious food. It starts with a walk through one of the nicest street markets I’ve been through and ends with a delicious sweet treat. The betel nut was an experience, as was the stinky tofu! Overall, these tours were excellent value and professionally operated, they come highly recommended for the adventurous foodie.
An absolutely great night market tour. We discovered flavors and dishes that we probably wouldn't have tried at first glance. Everything was really very good. And our guides Tina and Mick were adorable. For 2 hours we felt like locals in Taipei 🥰 Thanks a lot. 谢谢
The Yansan night market tour was very enjoyable. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable – the right balance of encouraging us to be adventurous and taking peoples preferences into account (and also had some good recommendations for food in vietnam, where we were headed next). We tried food we wouldn't have tried otherwise, in a market we probably wouldn't have seen on our own given our limited time in Taipei. Wandering (well, being gently shepherded) from stall to shop to stall, in good company with a beer in hand on a humid evening. Great.
Great tour! Got to try treats we would not have known to try otherwise. Definitely recommend this tour.
I enjoyed and would highly recommend this tour. Tasted loads of different foods that I would not have otherwise tried. All the food seemed to have been prepared with care and to a high standard. They have chosen and selected well. I went hungry and was well fed by the end.
This is a fantastic introduction to the variety of foods available in a Taiwanese night market! Yansan Night Market is a great location - it's a true old school night market. There aren't touts or cheap souvenirs or carnival games here, just good foods that have been here for generations. The food choices are well thought out and range from "everyday foods" (rice sausage) to "exotic gross out" (cow penis). There were seven stops, so make sure to pace yourself! Despite being born in the US to Taiwanese parents, and having visited Taiwan several times before, there were still many foods new to me and never would've thought to try. Ann was a fun and wonderful guide - her culinary background really enhanced the experience with detailed descriptions of how the foods were made and also why they were popular. She also had relationships with many vendors that ensured prompt service even when many of them were very busy. This is also a small group experience (limit 4), and in my case it was essentially a private tour as the tour is run even if there is only 1 booking. This is a great way to spend an early evening! Recommended!

The tastings are really amazing. A must do! I've been to Taipei many times for business and this is the first time I've had some free time. After doing some research and debating what tour to do. I'm so glad I made time for this tour! Starting at a local market and ending at the most quaint little sorbet shop, the entire tour was amazing. I've walked by some of the restaurants that we went to and never knew they had such fantastic foods at these little mom and pop shops. Taipei Eats must have spend ton of time on research.

Amazing experience. This tour is packed with foods I've never even seen or heard of. Which says a lot since I'm a Taiwanese-American. My favorite food was the savory tangyuan and Taiwanese spring rolls. The guide was explained each tasting and the history of each dish, offering great insight and meaning behind what we were eating. Besides the hidden gems, a huge benefit was when we went to the savory tangyuan there was a HUGE line and luckily being in our group, we got preferential seating and got seated almost right away.

So much fun! Great guy and broad array of edibles. Just a bit noisy with all of the motorcycles commuting home from work.

I really enjoyed this tour. It was small and our guide was very knowledgable. The food was really authentic. We were the only foreigners around. Highly recommend.
Very knowledgeable guide leads the group through a non-touristy food market. We tasted eleven different foods from a variety of stalls. Almost everything was exquisite! Will recommend.
My wife and I love street food, and this was ideal! We had 7 dishes total, and even though my wife is Chinese, they were all new to us. Included shark, sausage, rice balls, soup, pork and rice, bamboo, tomato-ginger, oyster pancake, and mochi. Our tour guide, Anna, was Taiwanese going back many, many generations, so she also shared with us the culture and history, and even gave us recommendations on music and nightlife and tourist spots. We spent over two hours eating, and left with full stomachs and open hearts. We had a blast. Thanks Anna!
We would recommend Jean and Jocelyn on this intimate and fun food tour in Taipei. This food tour was fun because we got to visit a variety of local food stalls and restaurants that was in a part of Taipei that we probably wouldn't have otherwise visited. We tried a range of foods, all of which were delicious. It was a great way for us to learn about Taiwanese food so that we could confidently go out on our own and explore the Taipei night markets. Taipei Eats was great!

This was a fantastic experience!
Our guide Anna was wonderful, full of knowledge, energy and was very friendly. She put together an amazing selection of food delights as we walked just a short distance, so if the walking part makes you nervous don't be scared off this tour.
Food was delicious and there was a lot of it, we were stuffed by the end. Small group of 4 made it very personal, felt like a night out with friends. :
One of the highlights of our trip to Taiwan.

Big shout out to Anna! She was our host for the evening and took us to some unique spots. Great food, great conversation. Recommend this food tour. Off the beaten path which is nice. Not super crowded
I have done food tours in several countries, and this one is by far the most outstanding. The whole experience was very pleasant and we were able to try prepared and fresh foods we would have never even thought of. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a novel culinary experience!
The variety of flavors and types of food were wonderful - we got to try local fruits, famous local dumplings, and several other signature Taiwanese dishes. The tour was well paced-out with walking and amount of food available. The tour guide was pleasant and very helpful. The tour did not offer a lot of information on Taiwanese history or Taipei city information, and it would have been nice to receive more information on suggested touristy sites. However, the tour still offered all the right things a culinary tour should feature!
This was a great trip into a local night market, with many of the stands having been in business for decades. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the dishes were fantastic. Make sure you are hungry, because there was a lot to sample! Also very easy to get to the market by MRT. Highly recommended for travelers looking for something that is really local.
Last year I went on the Xinyi Food Tour and loved it. During this visit, I saw that a Night Market Tour is offered and just had to try it. As luck would have it, the tour was led by the same guide as the Xinyi tour, the fabulous Jean. There was one other traveler on the tour and it felt like three friends spending an evening at a night market—this was in large part thanks to Jean’s warmth and kindness. I’ve been to a few other night markets in Taipei, but found them to be on the touristy side. However, this tour goes to the YanSan night market and it is not touristy in the least. You eat there like a local. Everything we ate was delicious and plentiful (two of my favorites were the oyster omelette and shaved ice) and Jean took excellent care of us, explaining things and answering all our questions. She even kept checking to see if we needed water or napkins. I can not recommend Taipei Eats highly enough. If you have a chance to go on one or both of their tours, you’ll be doing yourself a favor.
We did this tour as a family (3 of us) and there was only one other person on our particular tour. You'd think that as a small group it would be ok, but the tour guide didn't talk much and we could barely make out what she was saying half the time. The first part was at a market, something we have done a few times on our own since coming to Taipei. The main reason we booked this tour on a Wednesday was because we really wanted to try the stinky tofu from the famous place. Well we got there and it was too packed so we moved on. If you lead a popular food tour in a city, why not establish a relationship with places like that so that you can walk in and get your order without waiting in line? We have had other guides in many cities around the world do this. We were so disappointed that we didn't get to try it. All the food we tried we pretty much tried on our own at the night market and we both felt it was a huge waste of money since we didn't really gain anything out of the tour. I personally wouldn't recommend it and beware of any sponsored blog posts that mention how great it is. We read a blog post where the woman raved about it and it turns out they gave her and her daughter a free tour in exchange for a review!
We thoroughly enjoyed our small group, daytime food tour with Tony and Tina. Public transport is fantastic in Taipei and we met at an MRT station which was very easy to get too. The tour started with us walking through a local food market where we enjoyed fruit tasting and then my personal favourite was a spring onion bread (i could not find this anywhere else on my trip, so a must try when in Taipei). We tried multiple products including Bao Bun (pulled pork with peanuts), Dim sum (exceptional), Bubble tea and noodles. The tour lasted about 3 hours in total and was a great day out. We learned a great deal about the culinary delights of Taipei as well as to meet people from across the Globe who took part in our small group. A worthwhile activity for anybody visiting Taipei. Tony and Tina were fantastic guides.

Awesome tour! Small group, informative guide, most importantly delicious food! Ate like a local with no other tourists in sight!

This was a terrific tour. Our guide, Ji, was great! She took us to a more traditional, non tourist market and ordered the traditional dishes. There were 4 of us plus Ji and it was a fun group. Ji speaks English perfectly and is a lovely person.

In a single word: Exhilarating. I grew up eating some of these foods, but ended up going the tour route after reading all the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. Our guide Jean's enthusiasm and knowledge of everything Taipei was not only entertaining but also infectious. True to form, Jean and Taipei Eats was an invaluable guide that unlocked the mysteries to a culinary adventure in Taipei. I would whole heartedly recommend this tour to my friends and family.

I decided to take this night market tour as I don't read or speak Chinese and thought it would be hard to navigate a night market without a tour. Sure I could have easily just gone and seen the food at the night market myself, but without the ability to read Chinese or speak to the vendors I wouldn't have known exactly what they were offering.

The food was definitely authentic at least I assume so given the huge numbers of regular Taiwanese people there!. I actually didn't see any other foreigners at the night market besides the ones on the tour with me. Jean, the tour guide, did a great job introducing each stall and really giving me a lot of information on the history of the different things we were trying.

My favorite thing to try was the pigs feet yeah, I know a little weird, but it was great!. After the tour Jean also sent me a list that I could use to help navigate Ningxia night market, which was very helpful. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and encourage anyone to sign up who wants to give local Taiwanese night market food a try.

Really enjoyed this - made a nice change from the more well known night markets, more like a walking street food tour. All of the dishes we tried were delicious. Thanks to Jean our guide for a really relaxing, enjoyable and informative evening!

Had a great time with Tina. She was very knowledgeable and articulate and explained the details of the dishes that we ate along the way. It was a small group so we got to spend some quality time talking about Taiwanese history and how it related to some of the dishes that we got to try.

What is for sale in Taipei? The stories are promising, but how do we find our way culinary? We are going to travel around for two weeks, so we did what we always do when we really want to get to know a country: we book a food tour. On the day of arrival we go straight for it and visit the night market of Yansan. With two other couples who are equally curious, we walk up and down the street with our guide a few times and discover what makes Taiwan its reputation as a food Valhalla. We regularly take a seat at the tables at the food stands and eagerly take in the interesting explanation about all snacks, dishes and habits. Everything passes by: the well-known classics we read about at home such as Braised Pork Rice, the Oyster omelette and the Gua Boa, but also countless other surprising dishes. Also the mochi ice cream with surprising flavors and combinations. We eat and learn a lot in a short time. Casual and super relaxed. The most important lesson? That you dare to go on an adventure, can go anywhere and are kindly welcomed and helpfully helped. Your curiosity will be rewarded. We have had a lot of fun and ease from this tour in the two weeks we stayed in Taiwan. Highly recommended? No, a must!
