Itinerary
Your driver-guide will meet you in the hotel lobby or on the 1st floor, holding a sign with your name.
On the way into Yangmingshan National Park, you might have the chance to see Formosan macaques. The elevation is approximately 700 to 1,000 meters, so it will be slightly cooler than the city. The main attractions are Qingtiangang Grassland and Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area.
Perched atop Yangmingshan National Park, Qingtiangang is a vast, flat grassland that offers spectacular panoramic views. With an elevation of approximately 800 meters, the temperature is slightly cooler than the city, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely walk or a picnic. (You can bring your own food & drinks!) During the Japanese occupation, this area was established as a ranch for grazing cattle. Today, you can still spot wild water buffalo and other wildlife leisurely grazing here. Due to its high altitude, the area is often shrouded in clouds and mist, creating a unique and ethereal beauty. p.s. It’s about an 800-meter walk on a flat, paved path.
Located on the northwestern corner of Mt. Qixing at an elevation of approximately 805 meters, Xiaoyoukeng is a post-volcanic geological park where you can witness active volcanic phenomena firsthand. As you get closer, you can see steam vents and smell the distinct scent of sulfur from the volcanic activity. This area serves more as a viewing platform, so you don't need to walk a long distance to enjoy the impressive scenery.
Yehliu Geopark is one of northern Taiwan's premier destinations, home to a collection of unique geological formations carved by the wind and sea. While the park is most famous for the iconic Queen's Head, you can also discover other remarkable formations like Sea Candles, Fairy Shoe, Ginger Rocks, and Princess' Head. As the park is an open and exposed area with little to no shelter, it's important to be prepared for the weather. In winter, the strong northeast monsoon can feel quite cold and chilly. During the summer, the sun is very intense, so it is highly recommended to wear sun-protective clothing or bring an umbrella and to stay hydrated. p.s. The walk is approximately 1,000–1,500 meters along a flat, paved path. It’s near the coast, so it can sometimes be windy.
Back to hotels or other spots you preferred in Taipei City at the end of the tour.

Our guide Jennifer provided exceptional service and ensured a very well-organized and worry-free trip. It was truly worth the price.
The tour was full of beautiful sights. We were excited for the trip, but our tour guide Jennifer, made the experience better than we could have ever expected. She is Passionate about the history and knowledgeable about all the surroundings. Very comfortable car, punctual, and fantastic English speaking. My fiancée has a gluten allergy and she was so helpful translating with locals so she could eat. Thank you for the wonderful experience Jennifer!
We had a great day out of the city with Cody, the weather was perfect to see the park and Neolithic carvings. He got to know us quickly and what we wanted to do. We had lots of questions and he was able to answer them all. He had good knowledge of where we visited. 👍 He was a very safe driver; we drove back in a thunderstorm, no worries though. The pace was perfect.
Even though the weather was not good, we still managed to see most of the sights and had a wonderful time! Ben, our guide, was warm and friendly and accommodating. He also helped us take many lovely family photos. Highly recommend this tour for a break from the usual city sights in Taipei!
The tour was incredible! Managed to go to a few lovely sights in the space of half a day. The sights were absolutely gorgeous. The guide was also incredibly friendly!
It was a great tour to see nature spots around Taipei. Paul is an excellent guide, easy to communicate with, engaging and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
I'd highly recommend this tour for those who want to experience some of the interesting geological features and natural beauty of the Greater Taipei area. Hicks was an excellent guide and knew all the best spots. A very enjoyable short tour.
The tour was very flexible, and we were picked up from our hotel by Henry who was friendly and informative. Plenty of time was given at each location to enjoy the view and take photos. we were able to collect many stamps from the visitor center and had a delicious fresh fish meal. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Paul was a wonderful guide who was flexible and easy to work with. The rains brought thick fog to Yangmingshan National Park that we needed to have a plan B. Paul brought us to Jinshan instead which is the first settlement of the Hokkien migrants from Mainland China. It was a good alternative . Yehliu Geopark did not disappoint despite the continued drizzle.
If not for the weather, this would have been a great trip. We could not see anything in Yangmingshan National Park because of the fog but I was already warned by our superb tour guide Paul Yang. Paul had a plan B though and he brought us to Jinshan instead to experience authentic authentic Taiwanese lifestyle. This is the first settlement by their ancestors who travelled from the Hokkien province of mainland China thereby having almost - 400 years of history . Yehliu Geopark did not disappoint.
Vincent is a wonderful tour guide and anyone would be lucky to have his services. Highly recommended, its a private tour with him walking alongside and supporting and sharing/teaching about the area sites. Its not too overwhelming and you still get privacy with ur family but also a fun uncle/friend to banter and chat with. He really matches your energy and I would use his services again back in Taiwan :)
This was a fun tour and Henry, our guide was wonderful. He was informative on the areas, gave us some tips on other places to go, and how to get to places we wanted to go. The fumaroles and steam was cool to see. The geopark was amazing. December weather can be unpredictable, and it was misty in the pasture walk, so didnt see much.
We had a wonderful time with Allen! He was very professional, a great driver, and we learned so much from him. When weather prevented us from reaching one of our destinations, we pivoted to a city tour. We highly recommend his service!
Unfortunately didnt get to see all the places in the itinerary due to bad weather. However our tour guide Nicholas was very adaptable changing the itinerary around and made our day worthwhile and enjoyable! He was very knowledgeable and gave lots of good tips and places to visit on our own.
Our guide Chiao Chiao arrived on time and she was very polite and very informative. The Yehliu Geopark was amazing and we were lucky to see water buffalo in the Qingtiangang Grasslands. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to fill in half a day while in Taipei!
This was fantastic! Our tour guide Henry was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed seeing the natural beauty in this tour. Highly recommended!
My wife and I did this tour with the guide Aaron. It was amazing! On the drive from the city, he explained metros, the suburbs vs city living, mopeds, and more. He went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about Taipei or information he felt important to share. Despite it being extremely hot and humid, Aaron took his time taking pictures of us at the geopark and making jokes along the way. After exploring the beautiful rocks, we drove up to the grasslands where we saw baby buffalo and much more. Once again, Aaron took his time to take pictures and even hike with us to a viewpoint. We also stopped at the sulfur pits, flower path, and at his mom’s favorite restaurant to try mountain chicken. Although we are fairly experienced travelers, it was well worth it to have a careful driver, photographer, and guide like Aaron.
Good, patient and knowledgable tour guide Alex Meng for two of us (70yo mother). He spent more than half day and quite considerate for us depending on what we wanted and weather conditions. Thanks
We went with Sean, who was a great tour guide! We enjoyed the short hikes and the weather on this special day. Going in a car means not being at some of these locations when lots of people are getting off the bus at the same time, so you have some time at these magical places to yourselves.
Nicolas, my tour guide was very knowledgeable and service oriented. He was great at pointing out things throughout the trip. His driving skills were also great. He was able to answer all of my questions including things i asked about that i saw on the drive. I would advise spending the majority of your time at the geo park, especially if it rains on the day of your tour. He also gave some additional information about other opportunities in Taiwan.
Enjoyed our tour with Toku (our guide). He shared a lot of information and took awesome photos of our group which was very much appreciated. The lunch place he suggested was delicious - enjoyed the dimsum! Also, we enjoyed riding his Tesla car!
We booked the Yangminshan half day private tour with Richelle in October 2024. She was an amazing guide! The day of our trip it was very rainy and the higher parts of the national park were clouded (basically we could not see a thing through the clouds), which is why we could not visit 2 of the stops of the trip (the grasslands and another point). However, Richelle found amazing alternatives for the 2 spots on lower parts of the mountain. We appreciated her quick thinking, flexibility and creativity. We really recommend Richelle!
Our guide, Nicolas Ying, was fantastic. We had to be flexible due to very rainy and windy conditions. But we were able to devise some changes that allowed everyone to have wonderful time--despite the unfavorable weather.

We had a half day tour with Nicolas to Yangmingshan and enjoyed our trip very much. Nicolas was fun, informative, kind and very willing to tailor an itinerary to our interests. I can highly recommend the tour!
Our driver Vincent provided us excellent service and made our day easy and memorable. We enjoyed seeing all of the sites North of Taipei City. I can't believe how much we fit in 6 hours! It was beautiful and comfortable. It was the perfect way to see the sites. Thank you Vincent for a great day!
My tour guide Steven was AMAZING! Very communicative for pre-planning and excellent at showing me around, taking photos for me, and letting me enjoy the sites at my own pace. Highly recommended.
contacted the guide a couple of days before the tour to firm up the pick up time. Communication was smooth and prompt. Since it was a private tour, the time is flexible and could be discussed. We arranged for 9am and got to our 1st stop (xiao ye liu) ard 10am. The guide showed us the sights and helped us to take photos. Also gave us information abt the place. It helped that the weather was good. It was very sunny but windy as well. Half day tour is great. It's not too rushed and not too tiring.
Nicolas was an amazing guide. He took us to many beautiful spots and gave us detail explanation of each. He also gave us some Taiwan history which was very interesting. He. Made the tour very enjoyable and fun for the entire family. He also provided other tourist information on dining and places to visit which were super helpful. At the end of the tour he dropped us off in the Yong Kang area for beef noodles, shaved ice and shopping. I highly recommend Nicolas!
The professional guide Toku made our family trip fun and memorable. His death of knowledge and personalized care is impressive. He is fluent in English and Japanese and was perfect for our family .
Amazing all around. Guide Sean was full of info at each site visited, which made the day even more interesting. Lunch was great as well!
Caleb was a really friendly and sporting tour guide! Gave us tips on the best photo spots to avoid the crowd and suggested fun pictures for us to take. Very patient and spoke good English. Highly recommended!
The duration of the tour, 6 hours, was just right. We were able to visit 3 sites which are far off from each other. The van used was very comfortable - new, clean. The guide and driver are very friendly, attentive to our needs. I would recommend this tour if you have limited time in Taipei.
Toku was an engaging and fun tour guide who brought us to nice places of significance. His ride was comfortable and we enjoyed ourselves.
Had a great and enjoyable trip. Our guide/driver (Ted) was fantastic and knowledgeable. Even help us to take wonderful pictures and imprompt stops along the way to the various destinations for us to experience the beauty of the local settings and lifestyle. Recommended lots of good food and places that are offbeat from the standard tourist spots. Great experience and wonderful companion.
Yehliu was great, a bit rushed would have liked a bit more time there as my kid was enjoying herself there. Raincoat is great buy. Yangminshan was foggy and cold due to the weather so minimal view but still pretty the sulphur fumaroles was a good sight. Worth going on suitable weather days. Guide was friendly and informative and travel was comfy.
Vincent was the best guide we have ever had! He engaged us in conversation and really paid attention to what we said. He then suggested a change to our planned itinerary to something that would make our experience even more enjoyable. Kudos to Vincent for an excellent day in Taipei. !!!
