Our instructor Diana was really great - provided easy to understand instruction and kept the class moving along well. We all enjoyed learning about the history of xiao ling bao and boba, and enjoying the fruits of our labor.

The afternoon cooking class was very well structured, without feeling rushed but also always something to see or do. We made our own Xiao Long Bao starting with the dough and filling. The assistants in the kitchen helped a lot with cleaning and preparing in the background making everyone wish for such help while cooking at home and Diana was a skillful and charming teacher with lots of stories and patience.
The class was okay, the dumpling recipe was faulty, too much gel was added, so the dumplings were gel dumplings instead of soup dumplings, which rendered them inedible. Furthermore, we were told that photos of the class would be provided, but we never received them. After contacting the company twice about the photos, my requests were simply ignored and not answered.
We had a great time in the class learning how to make dumplings. We also got to see how boba is made. I recommend this class to anyone interested in creating dumpling dough from scratch, learning how to fill them, and shaping them into ready-to-cook dumplings. Diana was an excellent teacher!
This class was one of the highlights of my trip to Taiwan. The class was the perfect size so all the participants had an opportunity to get to know each other - encouraged by our amazing instructor. Everything was well organized and help was always available on an individual basis. The “kitchen classroom” was spotless and sanitary. Anyone who has even a small interest in cooking or in Taiwan’s unique cuisine should not miss this class. And learning the techniques and the recipes is probably the best souvenir you can take back home with you to recreate wonderful memories of Taiwan. Sign up early!
Thank you CookInn for an amazing 2 hour cooking class. We did the Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings), Seasonal Greens, and Bubble Milk Tea class. When looking for a cooking class in Taiwan you should definitely choose CookInn. The company was amazing to work with and our Chef, Diana was amazing. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. We all learned so much from her and our girls loved learning how to make Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings). It’s one of their favorite things to eat. Our girls are 5, 7 and 8 and this cooking class kept them engaged the entire 2 hours. It was such a fun day and we highly recommend CookInn.
Had a lot of fun in this cooking class with Cookinn Taiwan. Our group was only 4 people, so a bit more intimate with 1 instructor looking after all of us. The instructor spoke English well, was helpful and professional. For the class we actually made 3 dishes: xiao long bao, boba tea, and a smashed cucumber salad. All the dishes were delicious and easy to make. The provided recipe book at the end was already really nice, having step by step instructions with drawn images of each step. The added photograph to the booklet was a nice touch as well. This was a good class and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn some cooking while in Taipei.
Great experience and class in Taipei! Lynn was a great and patient teacher and she made sure to give everyone time and attention and was very clear while teaching. We made xiao long bao soup dumplings (including the dough!) and while we made the cucumber salad side and boba for our tea, they steamed the dumplings for us so we can eat our delicious creations. I’d highly recommend this class, and the other classes at CookInn Taiwan also all looked great. Totally worth it :)
A fantastic way to spend a few hours with friends and family! They were lovely with my little young kid as well!
I highly recommend this class. Had a wonderful time learning dumpling making from scratch. The instructor and staff were friendly and helpful, fellow students were fun too.
Wonderful teacher, beautiful space, and delicious food. Not sure I have mastered making a dumpling, but I'm one step closer. What more can you want :)
I took the afternoon Xiao long bao tea time class at CookInn with friends and had an absolutely lovely couple of hours learning to prepare everything from scratch from the wrappers to the filling, and delicious sides of cucumber salad, and bubble tea! We had so much fun and laughed a lot and the food at the end was delicious. I was also impressed with how nice the xiao long bao turned out for us never having folded them before. It was nice that Chelsea and the team printed a photo of each of us and gave us booklets with the recipes so we didn't have to take notes while cooking. Also, we requested a vegetarian menu and class in English and it was easily accommodated. Check it out!
We spent a lovely afternoon learning how to cook xiaolongbao, bake pineapple cakes, prepare cucumber salad, and boba tea. Chelsea provided a relaxed atmosphere with clear instructions throughout. We highly recommend this cooking class!
The class was very enjoyable and the instructions where in clear English. Even received a printed photo of myself with the xiaolongbao along with the recipes
Thank you so much Maggie for a great class. I have taken other cooking classes in other countries before. Sometimes they are informative in the fact that I will not make it again (macaroons, way too hard). However, I feel confident that I will be able to recreate these recipes at home! 10/10 would recommend. Also the photos and recipe book were a nice bonus!
Located literally just off of the ,MRT Green Line Nanjing Fuxing station - exit 3, this is an excellent cooking class. You will learn how to make xiao long bao (soup dumplings), Taiwanese smashed cucumber salad, and bubble milk tea. The beauty is in the actual making these yourself, learning some inside tips of how to do it better, and then getting to eat what you made - delicious! But the real joy is that you don't have to clean up - just place the used utensils/cookware on the other table and it magically gets cleaned for you; try that at home! I learned that the Din Tai Fung precision of 18 pleats on every one of their soup dumplings is quite challenging, and that their prep staff probably would have made at least a dozen dumplings in the time that I took to make just one. But I also learned that I could still make ones that didn't open up while steaming and still tasted awesome after being cooked. I learned that the smashed cucumber salad is something so simple and fun to make, yet so tasty as a nice appetizer/side dish. There's a secret step that amps up the flavor! I learned that making bubble milk tea involves a cocktail shaker, that it's possible to make bubble tea thats not too sweet, and the difference between boba and pearls. Also the beauty of a steel straw. A very yummy beverage! My instructor Maggie was excellent, and fluent in English; you can sign up for either English or Mandarin versions of this cooking class. She took great care of us students in guiding our preparations, taking photos throughout the class, offering fun tips and stories, serving the final cooked food items, and ensuring we all had a great time. We were even served a special dessert treat, prepared by another chef who happened to be there testing a recipe. To cap things off, you get a nice recipe book with your photo on the front cover, plus later that evening a link to all the photos your instructor was taking of you during the class. An excellent touch. A variety of cooking classes to choose from; I highly recommend a CookInn Taiwan cooking class!
Everything was ready properly, the instructors were very professional The atmosphere was very good I learned a lot from them
Our instructor, Maggie, was so friendly and accomodated to my friend who was vegetarian. We both had so much fun and learned about the different ingredients going into each dish. It definetely was one of our highlights in our 3-day trip in Taipei. Highly reccomend.
Hi, we really enjoyed our amazing afternoon at CookInn. We had a great time. We were teached how to prepare Xiao Long Bao from the scratch. Furthermore we prepared a yummy salad and a bubble tea with milk. This is also recommended to men, who never cook. No entry skills necessary. Chelsea was a great English speaking host. Such a kind and nice person and a great cook! The venue can easily be reached with the MRT. Not to forget: the food was delicious.
The experience was great, Chelsea and her team are there to make you feel welcomed. My 1st attempt in making something I do not think I can do well- things dealing with dough...but her tips and explanation helps ease the doubt in myself. Thank you CookInn
We had the best time at this class. After eating Xiao Long Bao all over the show, it was such a treat to make them ourselves and learn the secrets. Diana was a wonderful instructor and the facilities and service at CookInn are amazing. There's nothing like cooking when all the prep and cleanup is done for you! I would highly, highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Taipei. Oh and we brought our 6 year old daughter too and they made her feel so incredibly welcome.
I love Din Tai Fung - best place for Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) on the planet - and the place was birthed in Taipei. What better place then to learn to make them? This cooking class was simple and fun and I highly recommend this to anyone who has any interest in cooking or learning about Taiwanese food. Food turned out great - since we had good teachers! (Although I was solo - this is great for families and children)
There’s a great review not too far below that discusses all of the activities in the class so I won’t repeat it! Chelsea gives a wonderful and fun class with a mix of Taiwanese history, local food lore, and funny stories about food and bao movies! The kids love dumplings and this was the ultimate test of whether we can ever make them on our own, or whether we will need to resort to the frozen kind forever.. the two teenaged sons enjoyed the class and also the final product. There was another family with young kids (7) who also really enjoyed the whole experience. It’s easy to recommend this as an amazing go-to activity in Taipei to learn how to make some local dishes for everyone in the family. Come visit Chelsea and get a meal out of it too!
Thank you for the memorable experience. My boys and I had a great time. We were surprised how delicious our creations were.
My family & I (3 generations ranging in age from 9 to 80) were on a family reunion trip to Taiwan and decided to try a CookInn cooking class. We had a fabulous time - it was definitely a highlight of our trip. Beyond Chelsea being an extremely good and patient teacher (fluent in both English & Chinese), and the food you get to eat at the end tasting wonderful, it was the best family bonding experience. We got to spend 3 uninterrupted hours without any electronic devices or other distractions just talking and laughing. The kitchen you cook in is immaculate and very comfortable. They took pictures throughout and sent them to us afterwards, and at the end you get a souvenir cookbook with a picture of you practicing your new culinary skills. And unlike other cooking classes I've attended, the amount of food you get to eat at the end was plenty for a meal. We did an afternoon class and didn't need any dinner afterwards. We all had a wonderful time and highly recommend it for any families traveling through Taiwan.
This was one of my favorite things we did in Taipei!! My sisters & I spent really enjoyed the whole thing. On the market tour, she gave us so much information & history about the culture & food. The food we all made was delicious & easy to make.
Chelsea is very professional, the kitchen is lovely and organized, and I've mastered new techniques with lots of fun, knowledge and tasty food! You should go!
My family took part. The classroom was very cute and beautiful, with Japanese interpreters, and the detailed instruction was very easy to understand. I was able to make it well because the amount was light from the beginning. It was a valuable experience to interact with other participants.
It's not a regular tourist experience, it's a cooking class that instructors can take home with knowledge and skills and do it with easy and enjoyable instruction. Oh! The classroom environment is clean and hygienic, the facilities are equipped, the instructors are patient, they will interpret in different languages according to the students, and also teach some small omissions. It is also commendable that the instructors are patient with the children, teaching them to do the difficult steps in a simple way. The child is also happy throughout the process, and after going home and asking him what he needs to cook, you can say 90%, proving that he enjoys it. So it is also very suitable for large children to participate in the activities. I highly recommend everyone to participate.
