Itinerary
Taipei isn’t just a city; it is a 24-hour, steam-venting, neon-soaked fever dream that lives and breathes through its stomach. Our evening feasting tour of 12+ tastings invites guests on a culinary experience around the backstreets of Taipei led by our team of professional foodie guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed: ✖️ Vegetarians have 4-5 less tastings due to limited alternatives at some vendors. ✓ Gluten is used in 2-3 tastings, mild gluten intolerances won't go hungry, but we advise against ✖️ celiac disease, as there are traces of gluten in 3-4 further tastings with unavoidable soy sauce. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies and halal diets due to risk of traces and cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
Begin at the ornate Lungshan Temple - a sanctuary where the incense smoke of a thousand prayers meets the vibrant Huaxi Street Night Market. We’re hunting a Michelin-rated plate of lǔ ròu fàn braised pork rice - a bowl of unadulterated comfort that has anchored this neighborhood for generations. This small island has a big appetite, and there are 12+ tastings in total along the route. We’ll discover Taiwanese Scallion Pancake, shattered and flaky from the oil, and the legendary gua bao "Taiwanese Hamburger" - a pillowy steamed bun stuffed with pork belly that’s been braised into submission.
Cross into Guangzhou Street Night Market, a gauntlet of old-school street food stalls, to tackle fish tempura and the dangerously addictive, airy crunch of dì guā qiú sweet potato balls. We’ll double back past Fortune Teller Alley, where destiny is mapped out in cards and birds, before cooling the palate in Herb Alley - a leafy corridor serving as the city’s apothecary.
Then comes the rite of passage. You can’t understand Taipei without chòu dòufu (stinky tofu), a fermented punch to the senses that rewards the brave. We’ll clear the palate with a steaming bowl of velvety miàn xiàn flour-rice noodles. As the night shifts gears, we enter deeper into Ximending, Taipei’s neon-drenched answer to Shibuya. Navigate past the ink shops of Tattoo Street to the brutalist, retro-cool Wan Nian Building. Inside this vintage fortress of 1970s subculture, we head to the basement for a heavy hitter: pái gǔ fàn pork chop rice - crispy, five-spice-heavy, and unapologetic.
End the night with a mountain of bàobīng Taiwanese shaved ice. It’s the final, cooling benediction after a night spent in the trenches of Taipei's most legendary kitchens. We aren't here for the white tablecloths; we’re here for the legendary night markets, and the street food legends that define the Taiwanese spirit.

Kate was a great tour guide here in Taipei! All the food was delicious and super filling. We were all super full after even though we were mainly sharing in couples. Some food required a wait but that was just because it was peak hour so nothing unexpected. Would happily do again.
A great way to discover Taiwanese cuisine through a well-rounded food tour featuring 12 dishes, including a dessert. The tour covered a variety of Taiwanese food, with stops at restaurants, local markets, and street food spots, offering a good overview of the local food scene. The experience also included a metro ride within the city as well as water throughout the tour. Overall, a good option for anyone looking to explore Taiwanese cuisine and discover different local food spots in Taipei.
Lots of food and covered over 10 dishes. Good experience and 100% worth it if you want to discover local culture. The people in the group were super friendly and we had an awesome evening.
Amazing tour! Sara, our guide, was absolutely amazing & fun. Highly recommend this tour!
Tiffany was great and went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied. We met some great folks on the tour as well, which made the experience even better.
Tiffany is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history behind different dishes. I am glad I got to try a huge variety of different signature dishes (and drinks!) that I might otherwise have missed. This was a fantastic experience all around.
Tiffany was a really great guide! The food was consistently delicious and her insight into the culture was very insightful!
It was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide, Susan, did an incredible job of taking us on a culinary journey through the streets of Taipei while sharing plenty of insights along the way. We ate where the locals eat, enjoyed Michelin-starred cuisine, and were incredibly well looked after throughout. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I returned feeling truly happy. Thank you so much, Susan!
Richard was knowledgeable, funny and very enthusiastic. Perfect evening, a major highlight. I left full of food, sights and understanding of Taiwan!
A great tour with exciting new food to try. Great explanation and even tried the Stinky Tofu !
Kate was excellent - very organised and kind. The tour was well paced & we got to try lots of weird and wonderful food. Plus the other people we met on the tour were great.
Chef's Tour is my go to, no matter where I am in the world. Susan was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing Taipei with us. Wish I had time to do the lunch tour too.
We had a tour with Nicolas Ying. He was absolutely great, took us to some of the best spots in town, and always had something interesting and valuable to say about the food we were trying. He also had lots of local knowledge. He went above and beyond, and even helped us arrange a tea tasting the following day. Couldn't recommend him more.
I have a wonderful experience with the food tour. The tour guide was very kind and well knowledge about food and culture. She could answer all of the our question smoothly. Food in every restaurant they show us was really really good. A lil down side is that we are to full to eat all of food in every restaurant, but also, want feel like to waste food. Thus, highly recommend🫶🏻😉
Really worth the money and more. The instructions on meeting place were very easy to follow and communication was swift. I happened to be the only guest that evening for a night market food tour of Taipei and I was fully satisfied with both the food and the guide. Susan was really a gem and I would book again with Chef's Tour in an instant. The food was diverse and the side of history of the city and the foods was very welcome. I mostly enjoyed being able to share the food with my guide since I was the only guest. You get to test a huge amount of food, so it is important to pace yourself! I know I will look forward to it in another city, will consider again if I'm back in Taipei, and will strongly recommend to my friends and family.
It was a TON of food and it was clear that the tour guide was knowledgeable about excited about showing guests Taiwan. A few things to note: * Tour guide was a few minutes late. Which would have been fine, except for like the 3+ notices we got saying to be 15 minutes early to not slow down the tour.. a bit ironic. * I would have appreciated a little situational awareness from the tour guide. There were multiple children on the tour (including mine), so being a bit more discrete when talking about the possibility of prostitution in the area would have been great. Not having to worry about explaining that to some 10 year olds would have been nice * Again, some discretion when there are kids around would have been nice. It's great the tour guide wants to teach some local phrases, but to teach the chinese word for "f*ck" to convey "damn that's good", probably isn't the best when there are multiple children around * There was so much food on the tour we were stuffed before the end. The other guests and us decided that we wanted to go straight to shaved ice, except the tour guide took us to visit another restaurant (the one in the basement) for a rather lengthy wait for a table was kind of annoying - especially since everyone agreed we'd go straight to shaved ice. I think it wsa becuase the tour guide was hungry and hadn't eaten yet. but having to wait a long time for a table and then sit and watch him eat wasn't the best, especially since the restaurant was packed with people and hot. * When I said we were going to go ahead and leave, since it was already 8:30pm, routing us through an arcade was not appreciated. My child then wanted to play arcade games instead of leaving the tour and he was already upset about not getting the shaved ice.
What an incredible tour with Vincent! He took us through a full range of Taiwanese cuisine, and gave us history (including personal history haha since he grew up here) and advice on where to go next. It's clear there was a lot of thought put into these stops and my partner and I ended up being absolutely stuffed at the end-- we had to pack a lot of food up. There were no disappointments on the route! I would suggest going to the meeting spot a bit early so you can also check out the Lungshan Temple and Bopilao Historical Block.
A very positive experience and a great way to start my Taiwan trip! Vincent has loads of great advice and recommendations on Taiwan travel and Taiwan food and life. The tour is well planned and well thought out with all the stops being quite intentional. Each place is loaded with local Taiwanese people so you know the Taiwanese cuisine is outstanding! The dessert at the end is perfect! I would recommend this tour to any traveler who wants great authentic Taiwanese food!
With whoever does this tour, do yourself a flavour, and go on an empty stomach. Oh my. I'm so full. The foods and experience was definitely 10/10. Vincent Wu, an amazing tour guide. Thank you.
Loved the tour and Tiffany was such a great host! I highly recommend her and this tour. I was incredibly full and very happy by the end. I got a real taste of Taiwanese cuisine and am missing it already!
This trip will leave you feeling like you are ready to hibernate for the winter. The amount of food is mind blowing. I think I gained a couple pounds from the generous portions and huge number of samplings. This trip is worth every penny! Amazing! Our guide was brilliant, she knew a ton about history, culture, and the food. It was amazing! Fantastic tour!
This tour was a lot of food, so come hungry because the food is really good! For the price of the tour it feels like a bargain because of the amount of food. There was a lot of variety in food and I feel like I got to try everything Taiwan has to offer! Our tour guide was fantastic and knew a lot about history, culture, and food! She taught us a lot about Taiwan, its history, and the dishes!
Susan was fantastic! She took us to restaurants that we would have never found. We were eating with the locals and Susan made us feel as if we belonged there. Don’t miss the Taiwanese Hamburger or the potato pancake . We now understand so much more about Taiwan culture, things that you would never learn unless you spent 3 hours eating and laughing on a food tour! Thank you Susan!!!
A great way to learn about navigating the busy, delicious street food scene in Taipei. Our guide, Sunny, was excellent and made a special effort to get us scallion pancakes when the usual stand was closed.
Vince was great! Very sweet and has a passion for food and Taipei! This is my 3rd Chefs Tour in three different cities. Highly recommend!
Tiffany was such a great tour guide and there was a wide variety and a ton of food! I'm vegetarian and she did a great job making sure I had enough to eat! We also enjoyed learning so much about Taipei and the culture in addition to the food! Highly recommend!!
I booked a street food tour in Taipei with Taipei Eats — the same company I used in Bangkok — and once again, they delivered. This tour is perfect if you want to experience authentic local food without guessing where to go. One of the highlights was stopping at Wang’s Broth, a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot known for its lu rou fan. Rich, flavorful, and exactly what you expect from a place with that level of recognition. We also visited another local favorite that specializes in gua bao, and it did not disappoint. Soft buns, well-balanced fillings, and packed with flavor. What I like about this company is consistency — same high-quality experience I had in Bangkok. Well organized, great food stops, and a smooth flow from one place to another. If you want to explore Taipei’s street food scene the right way, this is an easy recommendation.
I did the tour with Huck and we had a great time! It is very hard to hit up so many spots and try to eat everything you want to on a solo trip, but this tour allowed me to try 12 different things by being able to share them. It was also nice because I didn’t have time do a lot of research, so Huck had that completely taken care of for us. I left with a full tummy and meet some great people. Would absolutely do it again.
Tiffany was a great tour guide. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a lot of great recommendations for where to get the best bites in Taipei. We’ve been on other food tours across the world and this was one of the best because of how great the food was throughout. Come hungry because it’s a lot of food!
