Awesome, personal, special tour. Balanced pace. Alice was very knowledgeable, gentle, and sweet. She met me on her scooter and we had a really special day. We tried local foods and sweets, special authentic tea, went to the hot springs, and much more. It was a really special experience.

Paul did an amazing job showing us fantastic places and experiences. Geo park and lantern experience were the best.
Alice was a fantastic guide. So warm, patient, helpful and informative. She tailored our half day tour to our particular preferences and even spent extra time with us at the end helping us navigate the very confusing path from Taipei main metro to railway station to catch our train to our next town.
Megan was our friendly guide and took us on a private custom tour of Taipei giving us tips along the way. Megan was knowlegable and understanding. Highly recommend for an introductory tour to Taipei.
Alice is very nice and she was very open for sugestie I strongly, recommend her for tour guy, and she also has a great knowledge and in an easy way she could explain the history with us. I was with my daughter and we really enjoy a company. We have a great time with her..
Alice is a kind, friendly, and knowledgeable guide. She went out of her way to make sure I had a good time by planning an itinerary that echoed my interests and preferences. Not to mention, she’s just a really cool human. I highly recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our private four-hour custom tour of Taipei! From the moment we met out tour guide, Alice, it felt less like a guided tour and more like spending the day with a knowledgeable, fun, and engaging friend. Her English is excellent, making communication effortless, and her extensive knowledge as a Taipei local allowed us to experience not only the major sights, but also hidden gems and local treasures that we never would have discovered on our own. What truly set this tour apart was Alice’s ability to bring the city to life through its culture and history. She provided fascinating context and stories at every stop, and she patiently answered what felt like my husband’s million questions with patience and expertise. Beyond the tour itself, she also shared fantastic recommendations for restaurants, neighborhoods, and other places to explore during the rest of our stay. If you’re looking for an authentic, personalized, and memorable introduction to Taipei, we cannot recommend this tour (and specifically our guide Alice) highly enough. She made our visit so much richer and more enjoyable than we ever expected.
Excellent tour guide; well paced itinerary with much background information provided. Very attuned to our interests and extremely helpful with MRT info, general tips, etc.
It’s a long walking tour. We did 10k in three hours. Walked around markets, saw buildings, tea, temples
Such a fun and memorable day exploring different areas of Taipei. Alice customized our tour based on our interests and requests. She confirmed the itinerary in advance so it could adjusted if need and was flexible the entire day. Our group of nine loved the tour from start to finish, and learned a lot more of Taipei than if we had done it on our own. Thank you Alice.
Charlotte was fantastic. She was flexible and tailored our trip to our liking. We especially appreciated the tips on meals and the sights to see for the remainder of our trip.
I'm going to be honest and say exactly how we felt: the tour was not at all worth it. It felt like we paid someone to hang out with us instead of getting a tour. After discussing itinerary and interests in advance, our guide met us at the hotel. We then traveled 35 mins to our first destination: Taipei 101. It would have been much more efficient to meet us there. She didn't join us at the top of the building so we didn't get any explanations. It was also extremely foggy (see photo) so we didn't see much. I would have expected her to recommend we not go given the weather. She then asked if we wanted to spend time shopping at a mall that featured ultra luxury western brands - a slightly strange suggestion given I told her our interest ahead of time (and it didn't include this) and the fact that these shops exist in London where we live. She then took us to Din Tai Fung for lunch, where we waited for 25-35 mins for a table. We then walked to our second destination (20 - 25 mins) and upon arrival she recommended we not actually go up the mountain due to weather. It would have been much better and efficient not to walk there given the weather (the weather didn't change on our way). We then transited to a shopping street, where she showed us a lovely tea shop. This was the best part of the day. We then walked to the CKS Memorial (30 mins) and ended the tour there. We spent way too much time in transit and at lunch. I would have expected her to plan destinations more strategically to minimise travel time and provide better consideration of the weather. I also found her knowledge of certain buildings etc to be less comprehensive. Although she was very pleasant, it was not a useful or informative your. Felt like it wasn't worth the money. I didn't learn much about Taiwan that I didn't already know.
Touring Taipei with Alice was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the very beginning, it felt like the perfect match—Alice grew up in Taipei, and her deep local knowledge brought the city to life for us. She offered a variety of tour options and thoughtfully tailored the day to suit our family’s interests, making everyone feel included. Alice took the time to connect with each member of our family, showing genuine warmth and curiosity, which made the experience feel personal and relaxed. We truly had the best day: visiting the iconic Taipei 101, eating our way through the city, hiking in the afternoon, and ending the day with more incredible food and shopping. Throughout the day, Alice generously shared her knowledge, stories, and love for Taipei, making the city feel vibrant, welcoming, and unforgettable.
David was very friendly and explained everything in detail about the culture and the city. He went out of the way to make me and my wife see hidden gems which was not in the walking tour. Overall it was fun and we are glad we took this tour!
Alec is very knowledgeable and I learned so much more from him than I would have just visiting these places myself. The tour was very enjoyable and enlightening.
Daphne was a great guide! She explained concepts and customs along with historical facts to make the four hours fly by. It was a very interesting and educational experience.
Very informative tour guide. We covered most basically highlights of Taipei. Taipie is a beautiful city. Highly recommended
I had an absolutely wonderful day with Charlotte. It was my fourth and last day in Taiwan, and she took me to many places and I hadn't seen yet, and encouraged me to try the things I'd heard about but didn't know where or how to try. So we had tea eggs (hard boiled eggs marinated in tea) a type of fruit I've already forgotten the name of, and various nut and sesame and tea infused treats. We went to a traditional market, and I got to ask all my many questions, mostly: what is THAT? I have traveled in Asia before, to Japan and Singapore and Indonesia, but it was a luxury to ask all my questions. We went the beautiful Grand Hotel built by Chaing Kai-shek to receive his guests, and also to a lovely smaller temple, My favorite thing was that we went to a tea house to have traditional Taiwanese tea. The Makong Gondola was closed for maintenance this week, and there wasn't enough time to go up the mountain, but Charlotte found me a tea house in town. It was very soothing to have the tea demonstration and then sit and enjoy it. I highly recommend the experience. I also highly recommend this tour and Charlotte!
My tour guide and the tour company were super helpful. They're also very informative and quick to response. I got contacted 5 days before the tour. Winnie- my tour guide speaks fluent English, very nice, and answered all my questions. She explained the history and culture of Taiwan and also showed me how to navigate around the subway station. Would definitely recommended.
Megan was a great tour guide! She tailored the tour to our interests. I enjoyed learning about the history and experiencing and learning about the temples.
I completed and submitted the questionnaire, but I don’t believe it was ever received. I got a message saying my tour guide, Megan, would reach out to me directly, but I never heard from her. When I received the proposed agenda, I shared some feedback through the TripAdvisor messaging app, but unfortunately it wasn’t taken into account. I also don’t think I was paired with the right guide for what I was hoping to get out of the tour - specifically, learning more about the history of the memorial sites and temples I wanted to visit. Taipei 101 was listed first on the agenda, but I wasn’t informed that my guide wouldn’t be joining me. As a result, I spent the first hour of the four hour tour on my own, something I could have easily done on my own time. Given that I double the price because I was only a single person, it would have been nice to make full use of having a guide throughout the entire experience.
Perfectly tailored and developed itinerary based on my interests. Highly recommend booking this tour, especially with the guide, Green. He is knowledgeable, professional, personable, and he made me feel safe and valued - the best guide!
Green was such a great guide, very informative and showed me some of the best parts of Taipei. Would recommend!
Roro was an amazing guide. She shared so many local customs and foods with us. As it was our first visit to Taipei, Roro was the perfect introduction to the city. A better more fun guide couldn't be found.
We travel a lot and take a lot of private tours. This was unfortunately probably the worst we've ever taken. Our guide Henry is a super nice person and will be very successful in life - but touring with him is not ideal. When he speaks - he speaks only to one person - whoever is near him. He doesn't include everyone. Or try to find out more about you/ what you like. He doesn't involve the entire family. And there isn't the charisma that most great tour guides have. He also took us to a transpiration museum he himself had never been to. I've never been on tour where the person giving the tour isn't super knowledgeable about our destination. His outline of the schedule also didn't make a lot of sense. Meeting at one metro line just to transfer to another one? We contacted him to simply suggest meeting at 1st location rather than wasting time on the metro. We also ended up altering the plan he laid out and cutting the tour short. I hate leaving anything but glowing reviews. And I rarely do. But this tour operator should have more training and understanding of a guide's strength. I do not recommend this tour.
Great day with Steven! We wanted to bit of an adventure for our day and he took us on some nice hikes explaining the history of the areas, to a very local restaurant with fresh seafood (who knew how many types of crab are caught in Taiwan!) and to the Yehliu Geopark which was almost like walking on the moon with fossils! Highly recommended!
Charlotte planned a great tour of Taipei for me and hanging out with her was like hanging out with an old friend! She explained a lot about the history of Taiwan and also took me to a night market to try some new foods! Would absolutely recommend booking this tour!
Really enjoyed our tour with Charlotte. We would recommend Charlotte for the 6 hour Private tour. Charlotte also recommended places to see and do during our holiday. Charlotte thank you so much for amazing day.
Green was an amazing guide. He took me to everywhere I wanted to go and added some great stops as well. So knowledgeable and so kind.
Cindy was a great host! We had a very nice tour with her and saw many locations. She is also great to talk to and gave us a lot of her perspective on her life in Taiwan.
We went around with Green and explored the Shilin Night Market and the neighboring area. Green was very engaging and knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about the culture and cuisine of Taiwan. We tried many interesting bites and even explored local temples in the area. It was a memorable experience!
Green was a good tour guide. We wanted more of a food tour, but were happy to visit Ximen district which is very dynamic and exciting.
Megan was a great tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions well. She was particularly helpful detailing vegetarian food options at a market.
Laid back tour guide that tailored to our needs. I would recommend him to others for a general sense of Taipei (which is what I was looking for) however I would look elsewhere for the nitty gritty detail.
Alice took us off track to the electronics shopping malls by special request. We then went to the night food market. She explained the foods to us. We tried some classics like stinky tofu, oyster omelette and pork bun. Nothing was too much trouble. Alice was very generous and could not do more to make our food sampling memorable. We popped into a local temple and she explained to tradition. We also managed a sneaky light display on the river front. I would highly recommend Alice as a guide.
Yui was my City Unscripted tour guide in Taipei. She was a great listener, asked spot-on questions, and shared heaps of info. She made sure the tour was tailored just for me, which was tops. Yui chatted about the local food, how it's made, and the culture here in Taipei. She really got what I was after and made the tour exactly what I wanted. Yui gave me some bonza ideas for other things to do in Taipei, based on what she knew I was keen on. At the end, she took me to the train station and gave me clear directions to get back to my hotel – no worries there! I had a very good time with Yui, and I'm stoked I chose her as my guide. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a top-notch guide in Taipei.
Our guide Kevin was great. We set a fast pace and seen a lot of great sites in a short 4 hours. Kevin worked us on and off the trains to get to a number of important sites. We went in without a plan and Kevin was great at finding out what we wanted to see and getting us there. I highly recommend our guide Kevin and Viator for a quick impromptu exploration of Taipei!
This was my first trip to Taipei and my tour guide was amazing. She was extremely friendly and personable. Talking to her I felt like I had known her my whole life. She was extremely Knowledgeable. We visited the most amazing temples in Taipei. She was extremely helpful in explaining the Customs and the history of each temple. I will highly recommend her an tour guide.
My guide Charlotte spoke perfect English and had excellent communication skills following my booking to find out my interests and keep me informed about the tour logistics. She met me in the lobby of my hotel on time and had the day planned out. We used the MRT to get to the locations and then walked. I saw the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial, including the changing of the guard and the interesting basement museum and then on to the Bao’An Taoist Temple. We had local snacks along the way and finished the tour at an historical street with all sorts of local products and food. I learned a great deal about Taipei from Charlotte. She is an excellent ambassador for the city.
We had a great Taipei city tour with Vila. She is passionate, great communicator, provided us with a lot good information about history and culture. All together an excellent tour. Highly recommended.
Great tour . Wish I had done this the first day I got here. This personalize tour catered to my needs and interest. My tour guide was excellent, easy to talk , very knowledgeable and would recommend her to any solo travelers
Highly professional and well organized experience. Very good value provided by a superb guide, knowledgeable and personable.
Great host. I loved every second she was very personable and gave me the best experience possible. I would love to come back to visit soon and have her host me again in the city.
A word of warning: City Unscripted moves incredibly quickly when it comes to following up on things. I learned this the hard way when I failed to realize that signing up for the tour required me to fill out a questionnaire. To give a quick timescale: I signed up at 9PM, went to bed, and woke up to an email the next morning stating that, since I hadn’t filled out the questionnaire, I’d be auto-assigned to a guide and given a more generalized plan. Understandable if we were in drastically different time zones, but I was just one hour off from theirs (or at least from Taipei’s). However, I emailed them back, filled out the questionnaire, and was promptly put back on track with a guide they must’ve deemed a better match named Megan. Right from the start, and up until the tour began, Megan was incredibly flexible and accommodating of my requests, which I deeply appreciated, knowing how inconvenient it must have been. The actual tour was fantastic: I got to see a nice blend of historical and modern architecture, and it was great being able to ask questions about anything and everything! She clearly knew her stuff and was easy to talk to. Even though the tour went at my pace, we were still able to hit all the beats of her itinerary with time to spare. She offered an extension that I took, so the tour ended up being a whopping 7 hours, but it all went by in a flash. As they say, time flies when you’re having fun! After the tour, I unfortunately left my umbrella with her, but she kindly left it with the staff at my hotel the next day. All in all, it was an absolutely amazing city tour that I’d definitely recommend to anyone interested in everything from mainstream to niche tourist spots! Just keep my warning in mind and make sure to fill out that questionnaire.
Winnie is a real pro! She knows her stuff. We packed in so much in our half day tour. She showed us so much, and we really learned a lot about the history and the culture. She set us up to be able to use the metro throughout our trip, which I don't think we would have ventured into without her guidance. Five Stars! Would definitely recommend.
Vila was our tour guide. She picked us up from our hotel and discussed what our interests were for the tour. She was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Taiwan. I would highly recommend Vila and this tour.
Awesome tour. We saw several important sites tailored to our interests. Our tour guide Winnie was knowledgeable and provided great information about everything we saw. She also took a number of great pictures for us.
Public transport brought us closer to the locals. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. She went out of her way to be efficient.
Megan was great! She accommodated our need for a different start time due to our arrival in Taipei. It was a great tour to begin our week. The tour was just as described. She was very personable and helpful. She introduced us to a great restaurant and gave good tips that helped the rest of our trip.
My guide RoRo was very phenomenal! She completely customized the tour to everything I wanted to do. She was so helpful in making getting around the city easy. We had a great day together and saw so much more in a day with her then I ever would have on my own. We got in hiking Elephant mountain, temples, tea tastings, a market and much more! Would highly recommend.
